I'm a hardcore Harmony remote fan, having owened several over the past year. I was excited when Logitech entered into the Home Automation space with the Harmony Home Control. I jumped on one as soon as it became available, but missed the touch screen and flexibility offered by the Harmony Touch. When the best of those worlds collided with the introduction of the Harmony Elite, I scraped together all the Best Buy gift card, rewards and loose change I could find to buy one during their Harmony trade in event. Since purchasing, the remote has been the impetus for my dive into home automation having since purchased a PEQ thermostat, a Ecobee3, a Hue hub, a Smartthings hub and the Amazon Echo. The remote works with these item flawlessly with communication between the Smartthings hub and the harmony hub being the critical relationship.
My only issues with the Harmony Elite are:
- It took forever for a software update to be released to fix the time displayed on the remote.
- Unlocking the remote (with a swipe at the bottom of the screen) is still hit and miss.
- Why didn't they include zigbee & z-wave in the hub? Asking consumers to spend another $100 for the Harmony Extender is ridiculous when a more advanced and better supported hub is available for the same price with the Samsung Smartthings hub.
All in all, I'm extremely please with my remote as is my wife. This remote has a high WAF.

I own both the Ultimate w hub and the Elite w hub. I do like the added controls of the Elite and the ability to quickly return to the Device list. The response is also quicker that the Ultimate. I've never really used the Harmony remotes to their fullest, yet I've always enjoyed the ability to create the exact remote I desire for the home theater. It is always an evolving program as you continue to use the remote and realize how else you would prefer the remote to operate. The other high quality remote systems on the market (Control 4, Savant, Crestron, etc) while they are very capable, they take the ability to control the programming of the remote out of the user's hands and rely on professional programming at a cost for any changes.

After a full week with what was initially a problematic migration from the Harmony Ultimate remote SANS hub to this Elite WITH hub I can report that this remote is superb! It is robust and commands switching from source to source virtually flawlessly. What's important is to insure you have your remote synced properly with the desktop app prior to downloading the app available for download on the App Store for you iPhone or iPad. The iPad app works beautifully! Slick, gorgeous, simple and dynamic interface provides an overall killer solution for anyone with multiple devices you wish to control without ever having to reach for ANY remote. I am controlling my OLED TV, Mac Mini used as a music server in conjunction with a dedicated DAC, Apple TV, CD player, OPPO Blu-Ray player and this product switches considerably faster than the previous Harmony Ultimate remote. And you can copy over your settings from a previous Harmony remote. I recommend this product. It's fantastic!

I have probably installed 150 Harmony remotes over the last 10 years in my home theater business. I have always touted the fact that Harmony remotes are simple to program and simple to operate and anyone from a tech newbie to an engineer can operate them easily. If you set your Harmony up right you will never have to open that drawer full of remotes again. Their customer service is second to none, and if you have a specific way you need to configure it (I have been able to set them up to turn on lights, fans, roll projection screens down, etc.) they will help you over the phone to do it.
The difference between this Harmony remote and others, and Harmony FINALLY got it right was that they had yet released a remote that would control IR based devices in the same room as you (TVs, projectors, etc.) while also giving you full control of remotely mounted items (in a closet or cabinet) AND control all of the new devices that are WiFi based (SONOS, Roku, Amazon Fire, etc.) in an easy to use form factor. They have had previous model that were clunky at best, but this time they nailed it.
If you need to control a home theater or home automation based piece of equipment and this remote doesn't do it, then it can't be done. This will control everything just the way you want IF you take the time to set i up right. I always tell my customers that "If you have to go into that drawer full of remotes for any reason because you can't find the button on this remote, then let me know and I will program "that" button to your Harmony." It's true. If your other remote does it, then the Harmony can do it, period.
Pro:
Great form factor
Full control of devices in same room and devices mounted out of site
Easy to use remote
Cons:
Can't think of any

I had the Harmony 1100 before this and it was a pretty good remote but when loaded with lots of activities it became slow. This remote does not show any signs of that being a problem.
The feel of the back in the hand is good, not slippy where you feel like you're trying to wrangle a fish. The buttons seem like they pick up oils from your hand pretty quick as they are somewhat glossy. Overall it feels very high quality.
The hardware buttons are great, for my dish network service the colored buttons work great in the menus along with the dedicated DVR, Guide, and Info buttons. There are buttons at the bottom for controlling home automation hardware, like lights and outlets. I have no connected lights to test how it works but eventually would like to get some PHilips Hue lights and get them set up with the Logitech hub that the remote uses as a central communication point.
One issue I had was during setup, I was too quick to set everything up and didn't update the remote. I was able to get all my devices and activities set up but when i went to control everything the remote would just hang on starting the activity. Once I updated everything worked amazing. The update does not work when using the Harmony android app so you must use your computer but everything is very simple using the included instructions.

The combination of hub and remote is terrific, and I looked forward to receiving it greatly The setup was pretty smooth, and I soon had two rooms full of electical doo-dads running off the hub. I was pretty disappointed that you cannot switch hubs with the remote (as you can with the app). Terrible design decision, and wow... if you need to switch hubs with the remote, don't even bother to try. It's a frustration.
But if you're the typical user, with one hub, and one remote, it's pretty good.
the app software is a major disappointment. It has a terrible user experience. The page flicking is so darn sensitive that it's difficult to press a button on a page, without it flicking to the next page. Did anyone even use this program?? If you have even the slightest shaky fingers, you're in deep trouble. I've found that if you turn off the haptic feedback, it is a little better, but still way too sensitive. There have been no app updates since I bought the product.
All in all, my experience has been average. I like the remote, and once it was setup I have no troubles using it for the one room that it supports. When I have to use the app for the other room, it's a trying experience. The remote is well designed and functions great.
Thus, it is an average product, and I expected a lot more.

CON: When setting the remote up using the Android app on my tablet I am required to grant location access to the app. They say it is required so it can use Bluetooth discovery to find the hub... you need GPS location access to utilize a Bluetooth connection? Does that even make a little sense to anyone?
Battery life isn't quite as good as my Harmony One, but it's decent. It'll certainly last a couple of days off the charger but not 4-5 like I had been used to. The app works great on my Nexus 9 tablet, though it is a little convoluted, and the setup was very easy. I had a prior Harmony account so all of my devices were transferred over pretty easily. Using the HUB seems to be the key to everything and the inclusion of Bluetooth capabilities was really key for me. The ability to control my PS4 is great except... it doesn't control it that well. While watching a movie it doesn't have a problem turning on the PS4 and getting everything going, but the pause, FF, REW, skip and stop buttons do absolutely nothing. when using the touchscreen to simulate X,O,Square or Triangle buttons has absolutely no function. I'm hoping these issues are dealt with son in a firmware or software update (which happens automatically).

Our current Elite remote has been in service for approx 2.5 years. Battery still holds a charge about 5 days with light use (when left out of the charging cradle). The WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) is high with this model since it's easy to use. HAF (Husband Acceptance Factor) is high since I get less complaints and requests to fix things. Recently changed out a couple devices in our media stack so had to reprogram remote. Interface is better now than it was when this device was new to market. Overall programming is intuitive and instructive with online assistance from a mobile device. Lots of choices out there but quality, ease of programming, tactile feel, feature set and it just works factor all contributed to my decision to purchase a second one for our game room. Recommended. Oh and one star ding for not being able to use multiple hubs simultaneously which would increase the amount of devices and locations equipment being controlled by remote could be located.
Splitters on IR repeaters helps but is not the most practical or desirable solution.

WOW, OH WOW!!!!!
I've used, and programmed, my own URC system for over a decade. I've been reluctant to switch systems, since I had it "working". But, after getting soooo fed up with the archaic legacy programming with Windows, I finally decided to dump the URC system.
I considered control4 and Savant, but hearing how well the Harmony worked, I figured I could certainly give it a try. I knew I could just run it parallel to my URC until I felt like the Harmony could handle my needs.
MAN, within the first hour, I was IN LOVE with the Harmony Elite and Hub!!!! I nearly freaked out when I saw it connecting with every component I had, INCLUDING DIRECT IP through WiFi!!!!! I have anything from a new Sony 4K to a Yammy AVR to an AppleTV to an old Sony DVD and even an OLD Wii!!!! YES...it nailed EVERY ONE OF THOSE COMPONENTS!!!!
WIFI, IP, IR, and BLUETOOTH...are you KIDDING ME?????
TOUCHSCREEN WITH HAPTIC...NO WAY!!!
For $350???
Incredible!!!! I gotta say that, years ago, I HATED LOGITECH's remotes with a passion, and returned the best of them in total frustration. BUT I'M HERE TO TELL YOU THAT OPINION HAS CHANGED 1000%!!
I spent a week, refining and perfecting my Activity macros to give us perfect control over our entire system. Know what? Yeah, the BEST thing you can do, is DISABLE HDMI-CONTROL on your devices, since the Harmony can handle it for you!!
This is a product that I can say is a real game-changer and probably one of the best purchases I've made in a long time!!

Once I discovered Harmony remotes, years and years ago, I never used another universal remote. I bought this remote to replace one I had had for years that had gotten to any annoying stage of working when it wanted to. When I say hears, I'm talking like over 10 here, so Harmony has proven itself to me.
As for this Harmony Elite remote, I like it it works, I like that the favorite channels are easier to get to this some of their other remotes that actually make you got through performing an action first, but not this one. I like the big touch screen and it feels good in the hand. I absolutely love the new charge station, makes it easier to charge while not losing the d*mn remote (which I had a tendency to do).
The one thing that I was disappointed to see what that there were not actual physical next chapter buttons, instead they created them as touch screen buttons. Having the actual physical buttons would have been a lot better than actually having to scroll through a menu to find the chapter forward or backward.
So overall a great product, just missing one or two more convenient elements.

I've had a Harmony One for a long time and was interested in upgrading to something I could integrate with my Smartthings hub and various home automations, but I wasn't interested in the Harmony Ultimate or Ultimate Home due to the awkward button layout. When the Elite launched I knew this was finally something I could use. I still think the feel of the buttons is a little better on the One, as I'm more able to use it without looking, but the layout on the Elite is good and I appreciate its more compact nature as I rarely used the number keys and having them on the touchscreen for occasional use is sufficient. I also like the way they did the interface on the touchscreen and find the favorites much more useful than before. I had some adventures with the software when switching to the new remote, but once I got that sorted I found the new software reasonably easy to use for programming the remote. The Smartthings integration is quite good, and I am easily able to control smart devices with the remote. Overall, a worthwhile upgrade that I am enjoying. I could nitpick more, but I'm giving it 5 stars because it's the best option on the market by a fairly wide margin even if it's not perfect.

I highly recommend this remote for those that have someone in the household that is willing to keep the software up to date as well as charge the remote every two days. Think of it as a new cell phone in the house. You will need to keep this remote charged and you will need to plug it into the computer every few weeks, plus or minus, for software updates. In my opinion, that is a good thing. It proves that the company is offering constant support and updates. This remote is also durable. This remote has already hit the deck several times (Hard Porcelain Tile) and not a scratch. The remote is user friendly after the programming of devices and activities is complete so don't be worried about the kids waking you up every morning just to turn the TV on. I would say that the programming of the remote was seamless, but that is coming from someone who is tech savvy. I programmed a TV, AV Receiver, Skystream TV, PS4, Smart Things Hub (That's right, the remote can operate Lights and Door Locks if you have smart devices in your home), synced to Amazon Echo and to a Sonos One speaker. Give it a shot!
P.S. If programming a TV and AV Receiver setup (Surround Sound) make sure you program the remote to control the TV via direct IR to the TV and not through the Harmony Elite Hub. Meaning the remote will need Line of Sight to turn your TV on and off.

I had a 5 year old Harmony remote, and they've really improved it since then! Granted, this is not an inexpensive remote, but I've solved a couple household problems in the new house: 1. All of the TV equipment has to sit in a cabinet with wood doors. We have to leave the cabinet doors open in order to "hit" the devices with the current remotes. I leave the doors open, of course the wife always wants them closed. Now we can leave them closed and aim the remote at the TV like we normally would. 2. Too many remotes problem and needed a user-friendly solution. This takes care of that, as it is able to talk to an Apple TV and our box which is taking in antenna signals from an HDTV Receiver. There was also then the "regular" tv remote too. Planning on also adding a Roku soon. The App on my iPhone/iPad works great too. Overall really happy with it and if you can get over the cost, it can be worth it if you have a situation like me.

I have been pretty happy with this unit. I purchased it because my cable box is behind the wall my TV and sound bar hang on. I did this in order to make the look around my TV and sound bar super clean. The remote works pretty well. Getting everything started usually takes a couple of more button pushes than it should ideally (just one), but that is fine. Once everything is on, it works well and is responsive and accurate even though the signal is traveling through a wall. I do not have many devices hooked to it currently (only 3) but I would imagine this would be an awesome device if I had a bunch more, as all three are almost as easy to use as with their dedicated remotes. My only real complaint is with the battery life of the unit. You will probably need to charge it at least once a week, if not more and my Best Buy techs warned me against leaving it in its charging cradle regularly. That makes it a bit of a pain, as we are so used to remotes working for moths or longer on a few batteries.

Cost justified for sophisticated theater systems. Not exactly plug & play but those who want to invest in making their entertainment environment operate the way they want will be hard pressed to find a more efficient tool set currently available. ...Would like to see them continue to improve this (hasn't changed too much in last couple years). These types of remotes drain batteries very fast so the rechargeable form factor is a must (even though it implies a more limited lifetime when the internal battery wears out). I paired with Google Assistant to extend commands set up with Harmony Elite/Hub with voice controls. It's a good balance to activate everything by voice when you walk into room and then sit down with remote to surf all your system features from one control. Takes some trial & error to fine tune configurations but now our 5 yr old can even make use of the multi-component theater.

Best Uni Remote Available...Optional Keyboard..

I have had several different universal remotes. I have paid $1500.00 for Questrons and iProntos and Lexicons...and this remote is my favorite by far. It is worth paying to get the optional add on keyboard. It has a trackpad built in and gives you a mouse keyboard setup that runs with all of your devices which makes surfing the web practical on Apple TV and Smart Tv (comes with 2 bluetooth receivers for devices you have without bluetooth built in) (keyboard pic included)... The remote has a completely customizable gesture pad built in it, much like the new Apple TV remotes, a fact they do not advertise enough. I use it to swipe on my Apple TV 4th get just like the Apple remote itself. There are a few programming glitches in the software but all are easily avoided if you look the specific issue on Logitech Forums or call customer service.

I'll be honest, even as a tech lover, it took me a few frustrating false starts to set up the Harmony Elite's "activities" to work well with my Samsung Smart TV and modest theater setup. I had to change quite a few default settings manually (to not turn off the TV/speakers every time I wanted to go from cable to Netflix, for example), add some delays in (so the TV had time to load the requisite menus), and manually add other actions into the LCD screen menu (cable box and TV settings weren't easily accessible at first when in the other app, for example).
But overall, there are many things that I like about the Elite:
+ ERGONOMICS: Feels great in the hand, most buttons are easily accessible without having to shift in the hand too much
+ ALEXA INTEGRATION: Not 100% accurate, mind you, but it works enough that my wife and I can change the channel with our voices and adjust the volume hands-free (usually while feeding the baby). The smart home integration is solid too, though I haven't really used it that much to adjust the lights (Lutron).
+ IT KNOWS SO MANY DEVICES: So great to not have to flip back and forth between TV/cable remotes. Harmony is also able to include some functions that don't exist on the old remotes as physical buttons, which is great for programming macros/sequences. And it can control my lights and my Apple TV and my soundbar too!
+ HARMONY HUB AND IR BLASTERS: A lot of what I can do above is specifically because of the way the remote communicates with the Hub. The blasters helps reduce the likelihood of "misfires" where the remote triggers actions but the devices don't catch them.
Things that are good but could use work:
* DON'T FORGET THE LONG-PRESS: The ability to long-press buttons to trigger a separate action effectively doubles the functionality of the remote. That said, unless you have the MyHarmony app pulled up on the computer, it's not very easy to remember which long-press does what.
* HELP FUNCTION: I like that when my remote gets confused and doesn't turn everything and set the right inputs, the Help feature often can fix this. I don't like that the Help function can ONLY help with inputs and power on/off, and not with timing issues. Most of my problems stem from the remote not opening the correct app or the right menu at the right time.
* LCD SCREEN: Clear, easy to read, responsive... but almost too responsive at times. Sometimes when it's sitting next to me on the couch and I brush by it, it will trigger an activity, and then I have to wait until the activity is done before I can undo my mistake.
* Mobile app: I have used it to some success, but the physical remote always trumps the
Things that could be better:
- NO BELKIN WEMO SMARTPLUG INTEGRATION: I can create workarounds to some extent with IFFFT commands, but if the integration was already there, I'd probably be much more likely to use the smarthome buttons on the Elite.
- INITIAL SETUP: For most people, this will be the single most tedious part of the process. I spent several days working on this -- through the mobile app, through the desktop app, on the remote itself... FYI, the desktop app is by far the most useful way to fine-tune the remote. I can see this driving away casual users, but I guess how many casual users are plopping down $200+ for a universal remote?
- DEVICE "SWITCHING": Unless you already added it to the LCD menu, it takes quite a few button pressed to access a function when it's not on the current mapped device -- for example, when I'm using the activity "Watch TV" the Elite is mapped to my DVR remote... so if I want to adjust the brightness settings on my TV for some reason, I have to either: 1) Create a macro that makes that menu pop up, or 2) Hit the Device button, scroll down to select my TV as the mapped device, then swipe back to the proper menu on the LCD, change the settings, then hit the Device button to go back to mapping the DVR remote. It would be much faster to just pick up the old remote!
- BATTERY LIFE: Maybe it's because I turned on the setting where the remote recognizes when it's tilted and turns on the LCD screen, but the remote only seems to last three days at a time before needing to go back in the cradle.
- PS4 PRO POWER ON: Yes, I know it's Sony who decided not to let anything but their devices turn on the PS4 Pro, but it is something that makes me less likely to use the machine for playing BluRay and for streaming apps, even though the audio quality is best through this device (at least in my setup).
In conclusion:
The Harmony Elite is supposed to be the remote to end all remotes, and I can see how it has tremendous staying power and versatility. It feels great and can control sooooo many devices. It could stand to be a little more intuitive, especially when setting up menus and activities, and also a bit faster in reaction time... but hey, it does about 99% of what I need it to do and it allows me to put (at least) three other remotes away for good. Plus, the handsfree-with-Alexa option is something I didn't expect to use but ended up really enjoying. I'd love to see how the Elite works on an even fancier setup than what I have. Now to teach my parents and in-laws how to use this...

Best remote on the market

I have owned a number of Harmony remotes. This is a major step up on anything that I have owned before. It uses WIFI to connect, so there is zero delay. Compared to RF controlled devices, this is night and day better. There is also an IPhone App that enables control over the remote from anywhere. The functions are similar to other remotes, but there is the added benefit of cable channel short cuts; one click and you have the station that you want.
The remote design is really nice also. Small and slick, easy to control, charges quickly, and looks great. The new setup software is much easier to use that the old version. Please note that if you have an existing Harmony account, you have to create a brand new one for this remote.
I only have one complaint. Sometimes the short cut channels only send one or two numbers from a three number channel. This only happens once in a while and it is easily fixed by just selecting the same channel short cut again. 9.9999 out of 10!

Function wise, this remote doesn't do much any differently than its predecessor, the Harmony Ultimate Home, but the execution of the hardware and a few software tweaks make for a much better experience! I really like the way this remote feels as compared to the outgoing model; I like the more substantive weight of the remote and the improved layout.
And, I like the fact that this remote notifies me when it needs an update. With the Ultimate Home, I didn't ever seem to know it needed an update until the remote failed to execute a command. Whenever I was troubleshooting, I'd plug the remote into my computer and then find out about a needed update. FRUSTRATING! Fortunately, the Elite remote notifies me. Maybe the other one was supposed to display an update message; if it was, something must have been wrong with mine because it never did.
Another thing I like about the Elite is that the battery does actually last longer than the one in the Ultimate Home, as logitech claims. Also, the battery in the Elite is user replaceable should you ever need to do so; I'm happy to have that capability again. If you have the Ultimate Home remote, you don't NEED to upgrade to the Elite, but you WANT to upgrade to the Elite! The Elite is what the Ultimate Home should have been!

Great remote, Easy Setup

We love this remote.
First, the setup was a breeze... Plug in the hub, put the remote in the cradle, and install a phone app that walks you through setting up your system. It asks what devices you have by brand and model number and once entered, it knows how to control the device. It even knew what inputs and outputs our receiver had. Let it know what is connected where, and in a few minutes, you've created your first 'Activity'. No more having to explain to the family how to use a complicated system to do something. Now they just press 'Watch TV' or 'Watch Movie' or whatever, and all the right things switch on and select the correct inputs. It just works.
The remote itself is also cool. It's not huge like some remotes. I like the way it turns it's lights off when not used, but if you move it, they come back on. This is great for a theater where it can be pretty dark. And the touch screen to swipe up and down for volume, and left and right for forward and backward saves having to search for the buttons.
The only downside we've found so far is that it has the ability to operate the on/off and dimming of our lights, but we have to spend another $100 on a hub extender to make that work.
All-in-all, very happy with this purchase.
