I have 3 dogs, 2 cats and 3 kids. I read reviews of all the models and even cheaper brands. I wanted the most up to date technology, longest battery and something to clean my floors daily. I needed something that could keep up with the pet hair and grass the dogs track into the house. This roomba surpassed my expectations. It has carpet boost functionality but I wasn't necessarily looking for carpet cleaning, more for pet hair and dirt on laminate floors. I used it on the carpet and it was fantastic! I can't believe I waited so long but I wanted the right one and this roomba is it. I would highly recommended to everyone I know and have.

Purchased for 80 year old mom who does not own smart phone or WiFi. She loves it. Just press the button and it will clean until it senses time to charge battery. Returns to charging station on its own. Actually pulls the nap up on carpet. Easy to clean as well.

I first tried the Neato Connected because the reviews seemed positive and it was significantly cheaper. The Neato did not work for us because it got confused by shiny objects (toilet bowl) and would not respect the magnetic strips we put down to prevent it from getting caught on the thick carpet. We have not had any of these issues with the Roomba. The Roomba has been methodical in its work and has yet to get caught due to an error of its own. The Roomba obey's the virtual walls. It is methodical in its cleaning, typically operating in a straight lined fashion. At the end of the cleaning it goes around and cleans up the edges. Expensive but really helps keep the wood floor clean in between full house cleanings.

Purchased this after reviewing several robotic vacuums. The battery life was a major reason why choosing the 980. So far, we've been extremely pleased. Vacuums 3 times a weeks and cleans very well. Very strong suction. A couple times it has gotten stuck under our recliner. Also it has died before it could return to home to charge a couple times as well. Other than that, it has been great. My wife says it's been her best gift. It does everything so well that it overshadows the couple mishaps still earning 5 stars.

This was a great find for me, very easy to clean and doesn't great job maintaining clean floors.

This is the best present to myself ever! The vacuum is a tad loud, but nothing compared to the conventional vacuum. It is super convenient with the app you can have it on a schedule. There is nothing like coming home to a vacuumed house after a long day at work. My cat was a little scared of it at first, but she doesn't mind the noise now. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

We have a German Shepherd, so there is dog hair everywhere. We always buy the best Dyson portable and they are awesome. We're on our third model and we swear by them. I never considered buying a robot vacuum because I always thought robot vacuums were bogus. Then one day I was at a friend's house and she had a Roomba cruising across the floor. I asked her about it and she said it was awesome. I decided to give them a try and I went all-out - buying the Roomba 980. The thing is great. It picks up more than our Dyson did! It covers the entire floor and its seamless moving from one surface type to the next. I have to note a couple of downsides, first, its is loud. The 980 has a motor that is twice as powerful as the model below it, the 960. The 960 is much quieter. And I have read reviews saying the 980 may be twice the motor, but it does not pick up twice the dirt. We just bought my son a 960 for his apartment, and it works great - and more quietly. It doesn't have the "carpet boost" feature - and that feature works really well on the 980. The only real problem I have had was running the software update. It kept failing, over and over again. I ran the update over three different wireless networks - and it kept failing. Deleted and reinstalled the app, and it still failed. Finally, on the fourth call to customer support, they suggested resetting the unit to factory settings and going through the out-of-box setup all over again. Sure enough, the first attempt to update the software worked great. That app is nice too. The app tells you when it interrupts a vacuum cycle to recharge, when you need to empty it, and when it gets stuck or hung up on something. And we have the docking station underneath a cabinet - and it still receives the wireless signal just fine (but we run a sick mesh wireless network). Anyway, we love this thing. It's awesome.

I was a little bit leary of the ability of this product to really perform. Having said that i have been impressed with its cleaning and general operation. I love that it finds its way home when finished. Lots of fun!

I LOVE MY ROOMBA, I first got a Roomba a few years ago when I lived in an apartment. It was great then and even better now. This one works great for my house and I love all the updated features on it when compared to about eight years ago. Make no mistake this is not a substitute for your vacuum it only helps to supplement your vacuum and make your life a little easier. If you got friends coming over in 10 minutes then this wont work. What this is great for is the daily dirt and dust that starts to accumulate in your house gets routinely picked up and so it doesn't suck up anything bad you are forced to not throw your junk everywhere. The next question is would I recommend this to a friend, darn skippy I would.

I wanted to wait a while before writing a review to see how this vacuum continued to work with time. I must say I really am amazed at how good it is. It is still as good as the day we got it. The first day we got Roomba, my husband and I literally sat there watching it clean to see if it would go under the furniture, over our rugs and in tight to reach spots. It went under ALL of the furniture, even reaching places we didn't think it would fit, it cleaned all of our rugs and it changes suction when it goes on to the rug surface. This little vacuum didn't miss a spot and even went over a few places twice! Once it had finished it went back to its base to charge. It came with 2 barriers that you can put in front of a room you don't want it to clean or maybe a dog bowl you don't want it to bump. It maps out your entire house and you can see exactly where it cleaned. We set it on a schedule so it cleans at the same time everyday. It is very smart. We have stairs and it has never fallen over the edge. I don't know what else I could ask for in a vacuum. Now, this vacuum is not a replacement for a regular vacuum. We use it as maintenance. I still vacuum once a week in order to clean the places it doesn't fit, which aren't many but there are a few. It's just great to get home everyday and not have to vacuum. I empty out the tray 1-2 times a week and it's always full. I don't know how I lived so long without Roomba. I would definitely purchase this again and if it ever breaks, I'm buying another one. It has made life so much easier and I don't have to worry about vacuuming under the bed because it vacuums there every day and doesn't miss a spot! Get this vacuum!

We love the iRobot 980. The first one we purchased is doing such a great job that we bought another for the lower level. We don't have carpets, just area rugs but it vacuums these area rugs without a problem. The control app is very useful and has an accurate mapping of the area vacuumed. The only down side is that the bin is small and needs to be cleaned our after every use.

I have tried other models from iRobot and competitors. This one is by far the best out of those. It consistently finds the base, which all others did not. I have a golden retriever and it did a decent job of picking up hair so you still need to deep clean, but it cuts those jobs way down. Overall, it does a great job. Is it worth $1000? I would say no. After 5-6 cleanings, one of the parts stopped working and when I called iRobot they said they would not warranty it because it was a wearable part. I get that to an extent, but if I change the breaks in my car and they stop working after a few times then you better believe they should be warrantied. The jury is still out so if the new parts give up soon as well then I will throw in the towel for good.

I have been looking at getting a Roomba for a while. The price was what kept me from purchasing before now. I should have purchased a long time ago. I was surprised how much could be held in the small bin. The first trip around my house took a while. First I had to empty the bin, then the Roomba needed a recharge. My favorite thing about the Roomba is it gets under the bed. I never vacuum under the bed. I think this is what took the longest as the Roomba will deep clean on very dirty spots. The Roomba is definitely worth the price. I also love that I can start from my phone or my Amazon Echo or Dot. If you are debating getting this Roomba just do it! You won’t be sorry.

Had an original Roomba back in the day but it constantly wore out and I got tired of repairing it. I eventually sold it for parts and we went back to hoovering. A year ago we moved into a new home with wood floors and no wall-to-wall carpeting, and bought a cheap and highly-rated Pyle from the big A. It cleaned really well, all the while barging around and bumping into things but scheduling did not work, and it could not climb onto area rugs nor over some thresholds. After four months it lost its mind, could no longer find home and kept backing off the charger and wandering about until the battery died 10 seconds later. Forget about getting it repaired. So, we decided to go whole hog and get another repairable unit with vision, mapping and a warranty. It came to down to several iRobot and big S models but they were too tall to fit under some of our furniture. So, after two weeks of use here is the deal: Pros: Alexa compatibility is convenient Gently navigates while cleaning Mobile app is fantastic Wi-Fi connectivity is reliable Waste bin is comparatively huge Easily finds home base Does not beat the heck out of the furniture Automatically climbs onto area rugs and boosts the suction Can cross over difficult thresholds Does not fall off stairs Comparatively quiet operation Scheduling is easy and works perfectly Battery easily lasts for 500 sq. foot main floor Con: Misses debris in the middle of the floor that the Pyle easily captured. We shall see whether the cumulative data gleaned from the mapping AI improves the cleaning coverage. In summary, the 980 is one impressive piece of technical art. I hope that it learns to clean a bit better.

Very reliable, cleans upstairs and downstairs hardwood floors and carpet very well. Easy to take care, definitely a great purchase for anyone who needs help. Like having a live in Maid.

My husband and I had been thinking about getting one of these devices for a while. We did not know whether to go for the 650 or this one. After reading several online reviews, we decided to buy the 980 as it includes the app and all the bells and whistles one could wish for. We have had it for a month and we are very pleased with its performance: good battery life, easy to clean, easy to recharge, and most importantly, our floors are very clean.

We just had our firstborn, along with 3 cats our family is growing. The Roomba has been a major time saver and we love the results. We have short hairs cats but I can say first hand our carpet and floors look amazing. The smartphone app is a great addition as well, we are out and find out family is coming over to see the baby we can make sure the floors look nice before we get home.

This was our first experience with a robotic vacuum and we haven't been disappointed. We were concerned with how ti would handle the extra work from having a dog and a cat but we haven't had any issues with clogs or lack of pick up. The app is quite useful. I've started the vacuum while I was out running errands and if I realized I had company coming over and I wouldn't be home in time to tidy up. It's got stuck under the couch a couple times but out of about 50 uses I'd say that's not too bad. Also, it will not run at nigh unless you leave a light on. It has a camera that assists it's movements.

I am truly impressed by the iRobot - Roomba 980's performance! This little bot really does a great job on hard surfaces, carpet & throw rugs. I researched & pondered getting a bot vac for some time, then settled on this one because of the reviews. The battery life & recharge time are both impressive. The job this bot does rivals our Dyson upright vac w/very little work on our part (we have to clear he floor of toddler's toys for best coverage, otherwise bot will avoid the area w/obstacle). We have a dog that sheds quite bit & running this bot once a day picks up an kmpressive ~98% or so of hair--the side brush does a great job even in corners. Controlling via the downloadable app is very easy/user-friendly. Advise scheduling the bot to run when you don't mind some extra noise (wakes the baby), but still quieter than our upright. As long as our toddler & dog don't interfere w/the bot doing it's job, operation is autonomous except for emptying the decent-sized collection container. The bot does it's job, doesn't miss a single spot, turns up the suction & spends a little more time going over areas requiring more attention & returns to the charging base when complete. It is a bit pricey, so may want to catch when Best Buy has it on sale (prob go pretty quickly). It really does a great job & even gets underneath & behind our couch. Great investment so far, but purchased the protection for the peace of mind. Definitely recommend. B2

This robot saves me so much time and does an good job too! Love, love, love it! It works very well with the dog hair on our floors (we have 2 beagles). Excellent!
