Customers regard the A50 Wireless Headset's sound quality, comfort, and battery life as its strongest features, with many praising the immersive audio experience and long-lasting power. However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price point. The wireless functionality was also a plus for many, although a few mentioned limitations in range. While some found the fit comfortable, others commented on the headset's weight.

I bought this headset never having owned a Astro product on good faith of a customer service rep that suggested it to me. Boy, I’m glad I did! It was on sale at time of purchase and was an even bigger plus. Sounds are distinct and clear, 7.1 Dolby Atmos is the only way to play especially if you’re playing any type of online shooter, being able to flip the mic up to mute chat is a welcome addition as well, headset comfortability is spot on and doesn’t ever get uncomfortable even after hours and hours of play. Battery life is also excellent as well and is about 15-16 hours on average per full charge. If you’ve got the cash to spend and need a top notch sound experience, buy these you won’t be disappointed!

Been gaming online for 15 years, and hands down the Astro A50's are the most comfortable, best sounding, great battery life, all around best headphones I've ever owned. A little expensive but worth every penny.

Y'all... I'm an avid gamer. What do I mean by avid?... 10-18 hour gaming sessions are not out of the question if the honey do list is done and the squad is up. While Bestbuy says I bought this on 2/13 I've been using A50s since 2015 I upgrade every handful of years to get the newest latest tech, I have a problem. I'm going to break down this review into a few different sections to make it easier to follow.
COMFORT:
I have a big head, like embarrassingly big. When I went to buy a motorcycle helmet they had to special order it. Seriously though: big head and glasses, this guy. The earmuffs are insanely soft and comfortable at no point does the area around my ears get sore. At no point do my glasses feel pinched against my head. HIGHLY comfortable. The earmuffs are breathable too! The only time my ears get hot is when I'm trying to get a workout in in between match queue. Otherwise there is no problem wearing these for HOURS. Yeah, no seriously, they're that good. If you have a smaller head it's still gonna fit and be comfortable as both sides of the earmuffs are adjustable.
SOUND QUALITY:
They're amazing out of the box. Beautiful clear bass, mid-tones and treble. I never have a problem listening for the one who's trying to out think me by sneaking up behind. Voice chat/Game Chat is adjustable and the headset comes with 3 different presents.... Now if you want this to become a true Cadillac of headsets you can download the Astro Command Center and become the Commander In Chief of your settings customizing EVERYTHING about your headset. There's even an entire discord dedicated to presets and there's some great ones out there! My mic quality is GREAT. It never sounds tin like. Never gets too noisy even with my mechanical keyboard but it still picks me up perfectly!
Build Quality:
These are expensive headsets. That's why you're reading the reviews right? Making sure this is worth your money. This product is SUPERIOR, however I've never been someone who gets angry at games... so if you're the type who gets angry and throws your expensive headset I can't help you. Under normal conditions I've never had an Astro go bad or break. The mic has never failed me, speakers have never failed me. Everything about this headset screams quality and how the materials feel reflect that. I've never scratched, dented, broken anything on the headsets I've owned. Then again they go on my head then hang off my desk or on top of my monitor.
In closing... I've owned a lot of headsets over the years and continue to dabble with others. Every time I just return them and come back to Astros. These headsets are so good that once you buy them...everything else feels cheap.
10/10 would recommend for any serious gamer. I'd also put a protection plan on it. It could be my massive use but over time the battery life can go down. Protection plan will protect you if this happens.
Stay frosty brothers and sisters.

I was reluctant to buy another set of high end headphones for my Xbox One, but I'm very glad I did. I had already bought the Turtle Beach 800X at the recommendation of a friend, and while I was mostly happy with them, they always made my jaw and ears sore after several hours of continuous use, whether I wore them tightly or loosely on my head. This A50 headset has great sound, great battery life, and I can play or watch videos for hours without any discomfort.
If you're going to splurge, get this headset. I've been using the A50s for about three months and I have zero complaints about it. Every once in a while the sound cuts out for a second or two, but I updated the firmware on their website and I haven't noticed any problems since then.

I have owned A40s and currently own a pair of last gen A50s. The new A50s make a lot of great improvements over last gen. No chat cable is great and the docking station acts as an external sound card for the PC and does not require an optical cable for full 7.1 which is awesome. Audio quality seems to be better that the old A50s. I would occasionally get some low buzzing noise in the old model but the new ones are crisp and have no such issues so far. Battery life is significantly improved and the auto shut off is a welcome addition(the headset senses that it has been put down and shuts off after 15 seconds. Once it senses it have been moved it turns right back on. Usually the audio is already coming in by the time I put it on my head). Build quality is super solid. Expensive but they sound great and are a quality product. I am not wild about the color scheme but I can deal with it.

+ Great sound
+ Surround sound
+ Wireless, though can cut out
+ Includes a dock, though could be less finicky with charging
+ Comfortable
+ Very customizable with software
- Lacks universal setup despite having a dock. I can not have these hooked up to a PC and Xbox at the same time, and for $300 that is ridiculous.
- Mic is by no means bad but considering these are $300 I am unimpressed.
-Likes to not recognize my mic on Xbox almost every time I fire the console up, leading me to power cycle the headset and dock.
-The software should not require me to move the dock and power it at my PC, a phone app or Xbox app would be far more convenient.

I’ve had this headset since October 2016. I’ll start with what I like about these headphones.
-For me the comfort has been stellar. I really like open air headphones and the pads on these really breathe well. It’s got enough adjustment in the height but I am maxing it out. Definitely try these on in store if you have a big head. I can wear these for hours without any issues. They are also light considering their size.
-Sound quality has been amazing in games and in Xbox Party Chat. The surround sound works great and the on ear controls are simple enough that you can make quick adjustments on the fly.
-Battery life is also top notch. I’ve never run out of battery with all day gaming sessions. They turn off automatically after about 15 seconds of no head movement. They’re sensitive enough to know they’re on your head or when laying down. Even with sound playing, if you’re not using my them they’ll turn off. So far I’ve never found this intrusive and they turn back on pretty quickly with just a little a movement.
And for what I don’t like.
-The base station can be fiddly. There is line of sight issues with the headphones and base station. This did get noticeably better after a firmware update but it’s still there. It’s jarring to be in the middle of dialogue and your sound nd keeps cutting out. I’ve managed to find a spot that works but this could be a serious problem for many folks who don’t have space to have it in full view of the headset.
I’ve also had an issue once where the headset disconnected and I struggled for hours to get them re paired with the base by following the instructions. It was a pain enough that I almost returned them.
You also need to make sure when you set the headet down in the base that you see it’s charging. Not too much of an annoyance but make sure they’re charging for your next gaming session.
-Destiny and Destiny 2 fireteam chat does not work with these headphones. This has become a problem enough that I’m looking at replacing them. I play with friends primarily through Xbox party chat but when hopping in with others in my clan or people clip groups, I can hear them but the game will not pickup my audio. Other than an Astro rep saying this appeared to be a Bungie issue, I couldn’t find any movement on a fix since Destiny 1 and when these were released. For Destiny players though I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.
For this price point I am not sure I can recommend these. With the base station issues I’ve had plus lack of in game destiny chat, there may be better headphones for less.

I purchased several headsets thru the years and then I purchased some Astro that claimed but were not 100% wireless. I returned them but not before placing them on my head and ears. I fell in love and knew once they came out with some 100% wireless ones I would never look back. These are simply amazing...comfort and lack of weight has me speechless.

These are the most comfortable headset I've owned. Amazing sound right out of the box just with the 3 preset eq modes given. If you want to fine tune the sound there is that option as well. Range is great if in same room but will cut out if there are walls interfering. Pricey set but well worth it.

These headphones are great. They are very comfortable for long term use and a great option for wireless. If you don’t mind wired go with the A40s though. The A50s have great sound and the base is really nice since it gives you a battery display and charged them. The only issue it has is it will occasionally cut sound briefly. Not sure why. Read online it could have to do with the port on my 5g wireless, but I changed the port and it still happens. It isn’t so frequent it or bothersome but it is odd that a headset this expensive has this issue at all.

So my Sony Gold headset finally died on me and I decided to splurge based on the reviews and recommendations I have read about the a50. The build quality is great; it feels substantial and has a good heft to it. It is slightly heavy but sits comfortably on the head for hours. The battery life is awesome and the charging station quickly can be swapped to PC and back to PS4 with minimal effort if your setups are apart. The only negative I have is the mic: it feels flimsy and almost like an afterthought with poor quality. I have changed the settings somewhat so perhaps there is salvation in there. Overall though great bang for your buck.

Audio quality - 9/10
Build - 8/10
Mic - 4/10
My previous headsets were Astro A40, Tritton AX Pro, Turtle Beach PX4 and Elite 800. I can honestly say that with respect to audio quality it would be a tossup between the AX Pro and A50's for my favorite sounding cans. The A50's just sound amazing whether I'm playing the last of us, division, Titanfall 2 it all sounds awesome. My last pair was the PX4, while good it wasn't great. The bass was lacking and the highs were overly sharp sometimes. With the A50's the bass is low and strong but not distorted even at high volumes and treble sounds nice and sharp if not a bit warm. The great thing is that all this is adjustable with the downloadable software(WIN or OS X).
My main gripe is with the mic, like with my old a40's great audio mediocre mic. I've checked my connections, settings, firmware and what not but I still come through like I'm in a tunnel while crinkling newspaper. Maybe I got a bad mic but I'll never know since the mic is no longer user replaceable. I have a pretty big head and these fit great but when I go to put them on the base stand they don't seat properly when fully stretched out. So every time I put them on the base station I need to push them in a bit and then refit my massive dome again when I put them on. When the power switch is physically in the off position and the A50 is in the base station it still plays audio. I only play play on PS4 but if your a multi system user say XBOX1 and PS4 you'll need a specific base station for each system but you can use the same headset. As is it'll work with the PS4 and a PC.
For $300 I expect things to work and things like the mic to be user replaceable. If I only played by myself and was never going to talk to anyone then I would keep them. My friends and I are scattered all over the world and we play games to keep in touch so mic quality is very important to me. The A50's will be going back and I'll probably get the SteelSeries Siberia 800.

I have purchased several high end headsets for gaming and this is by far the best one on the market. It is completely wireless on Xbox One without the chat cable. This fixed all of the audio problems I had in party chat. I would highly recommend this product.
