Works very well. A bit loud, but does a great job keeping my floors clean. It gets everywhere and under everything it fits under. My only other negative is the bin could be a bit bigger.

Really enjoys the Roomba 960. Wish I could have got the 980, but the 960 will do.

Her name is Dynamo and because of this Roomba, my precious dog is still a member of our family. The DOG sheds a ton and the Roomba enables us to still enjoy our dark hardwood floors and her. So far since moving into our new home, she runs DAILY and my only regret is I should have bought the model that empties itself. This model does however return to recharge and then continues the job until complete but given the shear amount of dog hair, she often fills up before complete and if not at home, the house may only get half cleaned until we return to dump out the receptacle.

Ridiculously expensive. But it works well. Only Reason for 4 stars, it gets stuck under coffee table and side table. This could be helped by using the beacon thing, but the configuration of the room makes that hard as it would then leave a gap in cleaning. But I really like it.

We purchased the Roomba 960 and couldn't be happier. This thing is incredible. The amount of dog hair and dust it picks up is unbelievable. I will never use a regular vacuum again. Works great on carpet and hardwood. Do yourself a favor and buy one.

I heard about a robot vacuum from a friend - not sure what brand they have. I looked around for a while (probably like you).
I bought a Dyson wireless vacuum - which is a good idea in theory - but in use, I would rather stay with a conventional vacuum versus a wireless vacuum. The problem with the Dyson was that you always had to keep your finger on the power button (trigger) for the vacuum to work. That became tiresome quickly, so that went back to the store.
I finally bought the iRobot Roomba 960 WiFi Connected Robot Vacuum.
It too is wireless like the Dyson, except all I have to do is charge the robot vacuum, turn it on, and it vacuums the room(s) that it is in.
I do have to empty the dust bin when full - I had to do that with the Dyson too. I move it from room to room on occasion (same with the Dyson) and I have to move it upstairs and downstairs too (same with the Dyson).
However, this unit saves time - my time - to be doing something else at home while the robot vacuum does its job. And the great thing about the robot vacuum is that when it has finished vacuuming, it goes back to the charging base station on its own - to recharge. That's a bonus.
(The Dyson doesn't do any of these things...)
When I get the chance - after the robot vacuum is done - I empty the dust bin, and it's ready to go again.
I could buy a second unit - one for upstairs and one for downstairs, but I'm not in a rush to make that purchase just yet.
You may have noticed that I haven't mentioned anything about the wifi - well, I don't use the wifi option much. Yes, there is an app, and you can set up your robot with the app - like give your robot a name - and you can program your robot to clean on certain days - or everyday. You can even set up your robot vacuum to work while you are away from home, through the app and wifi (if you so desired).
But for those people who don't use or have wifi, the robot doesn't need wifi to work. All it needs is to charge and go. The robot recognizes the charging base as its home, and will always return to the charging base when it needs to recharge or when it has completed the vacuum job.
I did look at other brands and many reviews were 50/50. That's too risky to spend so much money on something that "might" work the way I "expect" it too.
I didn't go for cheaper options because I wanted a unit that is versatile - something I can use now and in the future. And perhaps I will use the wifi and app options in the future as well. I wanted that choice. I didn't want to be locked down with a cheaper option with less features, only to re-buy a second unit with more features.
I do like the unit that has the self cleaning charging base, but that's quite an investment for something I can do myself - for free.
My experience with this iRobot vacuum has been very satisfactory. So much so, that I bought a second unit for my father (who is really impressed). He didn't know he needed the robot vacuum until he got one. I wasn't sure about how he would handle the wifi and app options, but he set the robot vacuum up in no time (the day he received it). My father is 73 and only had a few questions - such as how to remove the dust bin - before being completely at ease with his new helper.
For those who are interested in numbers: Both my dad and myself have 2 story homes, about 2000 square feet each house. The robot vacuum easily cleans each floor of the house in 1 charge per floor (about 1000 square feet per floor). One house has carpet and stone floors. The other house has wood and tile floors. The robot vacuum has no problem with the multiple floor materials. Though, if you have thick carpet or shag rugs, the robot vacuum might get caught up in those (like a conventional vacuum does).
If you are thinking about buying one of these for yourself or as a gift, you should - you won't be disappointed.

We have hardwood floors and multiple dogs and it runs everyday and does a good job. As for the quality it seems a little lacking IMO. I did replace the battery with a better one and glad I did. The battery that came with it only ran the number of minutes advertised which caused our cleaning cycle to be split up into two. With the better battery it now runs the full cleaning cycle without interruption. You can also get a second-hand battery pretty cheap so was worth it. But over all I'm happy with it.

Haven't used our Oreck since we got this one. Good job cleaning. Picks up well. Two small drawbacks or it would have got 5 stars. Sometimes have to empty it before it finishes and sometimes it gets stuck. One time it locked itself in the laundry room by closing the door.

we love the Roomba and frankly it has better vacuum than our stand up. picks up all the dirt fabulous. sure wish they advanced it a bit further though.
It makes a map of its work area, but all you can do is look at the map...it would be worth the price tag if you could touch the map to bring the roomba to a specific location. otherwise its 2 hours of non stop vacuuming. not always convenient

Love My Roomba

I love my new i7 Roomba. It empties its dust bin every time it goes back to recharge. It cleans much more area than other Rooma 960 I had. I have 2 Rottweilers who shed like crazy all year. The dust bin on 960 was full after 1 or 2 runs and it didn't clean until the dust bin was empty. It didn't help me at all because I couldn't be home to empty it. My i7 Roomba usually take 8-9 hours total to clean the whole house. It's nice to come home to my house with a clean floor after work. The ability to choose which area or rooms to clean is a nice feature as well.
The only complains I have is it still gets stuck in the middle of the cleaning if I don't reset and clean the clean base (tall charge station) and Roomba (vacuum) every other day. However, this is a small thing compared to clean floor that I don't have to clean.

This has been a good purchase. I'd give it 5 stars but the maintenance on the side brush is a bit much. If you have long haired people and pets. The hair can stop the brush motor. IRobot was good was replacing damaged part.
Once we figured out that we need to remove the brush to clean it things have been great.

My wife really likes the Roombq 960. She has already recommended it to most of our friends. I also think it does anpretty good job cleaning and navigating around the house. We use this roomba for our entire main floor (a mix of tile and wood floor with two decent sized rugs). That is a total of 3 large rooms. We used the provided gizmo to block off the dining room due to the rug we have there. The roomba simply gets overwhelmed. What would make this robot great for me is a larger trash bin (much larger) and a more advanced app that has push notifications. A normal one pass cleaning for our main floor is about 850 square feet. To cover this much area we have to empty the trash bin 3 times!! I understand that we have a large dog that sheds a lot bit the trash container is tiny. As far as the app, it will be nice to get a notificqtion on your phone when the eobot is waiting for you to empty the bin or when it completes the job.

This is a good vacuum. Has good sucking power and gets a lot up, especially area a conventional vacuum can’t reach. The draw back is the battery is small so I can’t even do an entire floor with one charge. Also, the bin the small and doesn’t hold a lot.

Read the comments from various Roomba owners. You'll get a pretty good picture of the pros and cons. I am enjoying my robot because it vacuums quite well. It can get stuck under furniture or in tight spaces. It is pretty powerful for its size so make sure to clear the vacuuming area. If it can fit under furniture it will vacuum there...which is something we never do. You'll find that it'll pick up much more dirt/debris than you realize is on the floor/rug/carpet.
The amount of time it takes shortens the more you use it. Overall, I gave it a 4 and not a five because of the number of times it have gotten stuck and didn't complete the entire vacuuming job and what you have to do to prevent this from happening. Other than that, I fully enjoy the convenience.

I really wanted to try one of these out, just to see how well it could handle the pet hair, and it works pretty well. While the bin is small, and fills rapidly, it handles the stuff fairly well. The bin needs to be cleaned out fairly often during its cycle.

My only regret is that we didn't buy it sooner. This is one of the most awesome products ever invented and definitely worth the cost of the upgrade. It takes a little getting used to the way it operates but trust me it will get the job done. We own a farm and the amount of dust and dirt from the fields is unbelievable in our home. This item has changed our life.

Roomba is helping me save time from running a traditional vacuum. Given pricey real estate in CA, houses are now multi floors. Dragging a huge traditional vacuum upstairs is waste of energy.
I find Roomba light and easy to clean. I can switch floors easily with it. After enough passes and setting it on a schedule, my carpet and hardwood floors don't feel dirty anymore
