SO easy for dog hair and daily clean up

I bought this for daily cleanup that can keep the dog hair under control and daily kitchen cleanup and it does just that! The bin is really small so I have to empty it every day, but I expected that. It works really good going from hardwoods/tile to carpet and rugs.

Notes from a heavy shedding German Shepherd owner

I got this on sale for $399 and couldn’t pass it up at that price. Now that I know more, the self-emptying model would have been better for us, but it’s cost prohibitive, at least for now. I’m still happy I got this one. We have a German Shepherd who is a big shedder (double-coated), and the Roomba won’t do the first floor in one shot without having to empty it out. However, it could be that the other reviewers clean more regularly than we do, or they brush their dogs more. Before I run the Roomba I do a quick pass with a Swiffer to pick up the large clumps of hair. Two important things I was worried about that turned out not to be a problem: (i) it is quieter than our vacuum cleaner (a Shark Professional Rotator), and (ii) it doesn’t bother our dog! The regular vacuum drives her crazy — she charges it and tries to tackle it or something — but she’s fine with the Roomba. I first ran it a couple of times in a gated-off area and let her watch it from behind the gate. She watched its every move (doubtlessly for our protection), but didn’t bark. When I run it in an area where she is, she watches it but isn’t tense and doesn’t bark. This is such a blessing! I love her to death but she barks if I use my OXO salad spinner, if that gives you any idea. Giving this 4 stars because I have to empty it out frequently, but again, that could be due to our household habits referred to above. Highly recommend.

We've had Roombas since 2014 and all have been pretty good. Only problem is this particular Roomba 960 will "eat" anything in its way. It does get stuck alot under kitchen cabinet but we have a cushion mat so it does like to go over everything. Great for dog hair! Wish it had a larger bin. As far as the battery goes, I don't believe it lasts for more than 60 min and once it dies it does not go back to the base to recharge. Not sure why manufacturer claims it does.

Got this on a Black Friday deal, first foray into the world of Roomba. Setup was a bit of a pain, had to connect my phone to the temporary Wifi source created by the Roomba and finish that way. though the app DOES tell you that this method is available as "a different way" to get things up and running. Functionally, the Roomba is solidly built and seems to have come a long way from what I recall seeing from years ago. Relatively quiet, camera helps it avoid smashing into walls and such at full tilt (it actively slows down as it approaches such a barrier) and it is surprisingly thorough. I have it downstairs on primarily wood and tile floors, which it navigates seamlessly and has only ever hung up when it hit the corners of a thinner rug in the front room or it gets froggy and tries to navigate over a shag carpet in the back room (tried that once and never again...so it's apparently "learning"). It figured out how to get under the china cabinet which has two access points that are BARELY big enough but it not only squeaked its way in there but manages to get itself out every time, no problem. App is very good, shows breakdowns of what areas it was able to clean, allows you to program set schedules, even name the thing. I have it integrated with my Echo so I can have Alexa tell the Roomba to start cleaning like a wicked stepmother to my robotic Cinderella. Sidebar, got this for my wife for Christmas (don't judge) and she was initially skeptical/hesitant. I'm here to tell you that she/we haven't had to sweep the downstairs for over two weeks and she is no longer either of those things. Guys, don't be afraid to make your wife's daily tasker list a bit shorter...that was the goal here and the Roomba performs quite admirably.

We love letting the Roomba go to do its job. It get’s into places we can’t... under furniture, around chair legs. I thought we kept a clean house until Roomba exposed the truth. There was a lot of dog hair hiding out. Also, having 4 girls in the house, a lot of human hair gets picked up as well. The only thing I would change is the volume of material it could pick up, but then it wouldn’t be as compact. It takes 2-3 runs to complete our large house. The Roomba is easy to empty and send back on its way, though.

This is a pretty good substitute for vacuuming. I don't have time to vacuum every day and it is nice to have it vacuum the rug and the hardwoods. It does a nice job and all we have to do is monitor its progress. We never leave it unattended, as it gets stuck from time to time. The bin is too small to allow it to clean most of our living area. The bin could be easier to clean out. I found the charge to be adequate for most jobs. I almost wish I went for the next model up as I saw it on sale at another location after I purchased this one.

This is good for hard floors but goes slower over medium pile carpet. That means it'll need to be recharged sooner. It does a good job cleaning. It's low maintenance except for having to empty it constantly. The biggest con is its small collection bin. It requires emptying after every use. I have a dog that sheds a lot and the unit is used in around 750 sq ft area. I paid $700 for it at the time; to me it's not worth the cost.

I haven’t been this happy since I gave birth to my kids! I absolutely love my Roomba! Only issue I have is it gets stuck on an area rug I have in the kitchen. I just pick that one up now. Does not have an issue with any of the other area rugs. Our floors are hardwood and tile and it cleans them wonderfully! Have not tried it on the carpet yet and will update once I do. The only other issue I’ve had is when I placed the virtual wall backwards, seems to work better when you face it in the proper direction, so it went under my Christmas tree and dragged the tree skirt. That seems like more of a user issue than a Roomba issue. Overall I am totally in love with it and feel it’s worth every penny! I did get it on sale using my points but still the best thing I’ve bought in a long time!

App shows progress of cleaning and notified me when bin was full. Roomba cleans my whole first floor while we are at work. Does not get caught up on cords. Some higher throw rugs it cannot climb but it vaccums around them.

    Overall Disappointed

I heavily researched the Roomba 900 series vs the Neato Connected prior to making my purchase. At the end of the day, I sided with iRobot, a robotics company who's been in business for over two decades longer than Neato, with a technology background. I must say, I'm extremely disappointed in the mobile application. It operates on dated, 2.4ghz WiFi bands only (5 ghz NOT supported), which has proven to be a much more serious issue for my household than I'd anticipated. The application is extremely limited in it's overall support of the 900 series devices, which is a huge disappointment as at the time of my purchase, the 900 series were the only robotic vacuums supported by the application. Aside from the WiFi and Mobile Application limitations, the robot itself performs admirably on my hardwood floors, frequently filling the dust bin with my golden retrievers pet dander. The bin size is small, but to be expected in my opinion. Battery life is average, at best, but I'm content with saving the $200 over the 980 and sacrificing the extra 20-30 minutes of battery life and carpet boost technology - literally the only major differences I'm aware of between the 960 and 980 series units. The unit cleans well, which at the end of the day is what matters. The only reason I'm not rating the unit higher is because the price is simply not justified given the lacking mobile application features and support combined with the dated WiFi connection limitations. Overall, I'd say if you have the chance to scoop up the 960 at a price point below $450, it's a solid buy. If not, look at Neato, or wait for the next model Roomba's which should be coming through the pipeline soon.

I purchase this roomba 960 robot, as I cant do cleaning everyday or every week. I can only afford biweekly cleaning due to working schedule. This robot has schedule so i can set day schedule for all 7 days (same/different schedule) .Roomba do his cleaning job and recharge his job without letting me disturb and I get report on phone what cleaning has done for day. Only disadvantage I would say say is black carpet . I have two carpet with has design with black border ad multiple place, this roomba 960 sensor detect black carpet border as solid border and done clean either of my this Rugs carpet which is litlle disappointment for me. This is something I would like Roomba company should fix it. I saw many people on Internet has complain about this.

Exactly what I wanted. We have shedding cats and pups who love to play outside—meaning lots of dried grass and leaves as well as muddy paw prints on both wood laminate and carpet. The IRobot does a great job cleaning these service items. It makes far less noise than the conventional vacuum and the pets are willing to stay in the same room without the wild scurry to escape that we have with our regular vacuum. However, I still deep vacuum the carpet every two-three weeks to remove ground in dirt. It does a great job cleaning under the sofas and chairs, only occasionally getting stuck—but the lil fella always beeps, talks, and emails me when this happens. I prefer to be at home when I run our Roomba to make sure he finishes the job. We have a large open great room with kitchen area and he usually runs out of power before finishing, and he happily heads back to recharge, sending me an email that he’s finished. So I frequently have to finish up what he missed. One charge is enough for three carpeted bedrooms and a long hall with a laminate floor OR most of the large living room/kitchen area (40 X 35 with kitchen area additional 10 X 20). All in all, I am satisfied with my IRobot Roomba as it allows me stay ahead of the surface litter that pets, gardeners, and humans track into our home.

    sale price steal!

I bought 3 of these units on a sale Best Buy had. they are pretty good for being a ROBOT vacuum. I think people have too high of an expectation as to this unit's capabilities. it's here to supplement your general cleaning routine, not SUBSTITUTE your cleaning routine. the first few times it attempts to clean your house there's hiccups because it's learning the environment -- but it gets better!! it does occasionally get stuck on mats/rugs folds and confused when it sees cords on the floor -- but it will notify you when it's stuck. the app is pretty neat too, tells you when to empty out the dust bin and you can keep an eye on the unit as it's running around your house. it's slightly noisy, but still less than a traditional vacuum. overall, I think it's a great little add-on to my cleaning routine and good value for the sale price.

I have only had this for one day. It took me a long time to get the app set up since so I was not happy with that delay. The Roomba comes with an instruction manual but I still needed to keep on searching on the Internet to figure out how to get it connected to my WiFi.i have several smart home devices & I feel this is way too complicated compared to other devices.once I got it set up & charged, I had it start cleaning & it really did a good job. I didn’t always understand why it would clean one room, leave & then come back but it did clean well. I have used it twice & my house is very clean. I moved some objects out of the way & it did get tangled in one chord but otherwise, I relaxed while Roomba cleaned.

The machine is easy to use and is very intuitive. It does a great job of cleaning the floors and learns the patterns very quickly. The downside is that it is quite loud and it tried to destroy a very expensive rug. We had to fence it off from the area where the rug is, so that does take away some of its effectiveness. Overall we are very please. A longer life battery would be nice.

My first robot vacuum cleaner. Easy to use and pair. Our floor now is always clean. I just needed to prep the apartment for it to do its job efficiently. Once it has a map, it cleans faster. Iadapt 2.0 is okay. I hope they can update it to iadapt 3.0. Smart mapping requires adequate lighting so better to clean it during the day and when no one is home because it's a bit noisy.

We have used this everyday day since purchasing it a month ago. It is phenomenal! I like that it can be scheduled to run via the app when you are away from home. I don’t like that battery will only allow the roomba to operate for an hour before it needs charging. Also the cartridge that collects the dirt/dust is small so depending on how dirt your floors are that could mean every 15 or 30 mins it will need emptying.

We finally decided to replace our pet series 500 Roomba (it would have lasted longer had it not been for 2 unfortunate pet sickness issues that shorted it out). The 960 is an expensive unit no doubt but for us well worth every penny. We have mostly hardwood floors and it does an incredible job picking up pet hair, better than the previous model. The only complaint I have is it gets stuck on our super shaggy rug.
