Customers often highlight the ease of use, lightweight design, and strong suction of the V7 Motorhead Cord-Free Stick Vacuum. Many appreciate its powerful performance and quiet operation, along with the convenient cordless feature. However, some users mention that the battery life could be improved, and the dustbin capacity is relatively small. A few also point out that the price point may be a consideration for some buyers.

I was very excited to own my first Dyson product. I'm a designer and am fascinated with the synthesis of function and aesthetics. My small apartment is a challenge- hard laminate and linoleum floors...and very little storage space.
The V7 is stylish and comes with all the attachments you would expect from a full-on vacuum: roller floor brush, brush (adjustable to just cylindrical extension) and slim tip for crevices.
The instructions for use and troubleshooting are very clear, including removable stickers that allow the normal "I don't read instructions" user to get going fast.
Bummers? 1. It comes partially charged, so you have to wait a few hours to use it the first time. 2. The dirt container intended to make it easy to minimize dust dispersion during emptying is really challenging to open and feels delicate 3. The battery only lasted 20-23 minutes during my use.
Those things said, what do I love? 1. All the attachments- I can clean my apartment (including rugs) as well as my car since it's a cordless rechargeable. 2. It comes with a very nice wall mount bracket that allows you to store it in a clothes closet or even as a display piece in your kitchen 3. Two suction intensities - appropriate for relatively delicate fabrics and curtains as well as stubborn car carpets and hair on the bathroom rug. 4. It's lightweight- you can easily do most work with one hand.

The Dyson V7 Motorhead is the latest iteration in their line of stick vacuums. They target people who want a smaller, easier to handle vacuum that doesn’t need a cord. Each vacuum in the series share similar traits in design but the higher up you get a larger floor brush, more powerful suction, more runtime, and more accessories. If you are interested in Dyson, you already expect them to be targeted at a more premium focused customer so price shouldn’t be a primary focus. That said, the features that the V7 Motorhead provides in such a small package are comparable to its price.
The V7 Motorhead has a number of subtle changes that add up to an overall nice design. If you are looking to upgrade from their Slim stick vacuum, you will notice the brush is quite a bit larger meaning it can handle deeper pile carpets much better. At first glance it might be hard to notice but the casing is slightly larger than the Slim. The docking station and accessories from your Dyson slim stick vacuum will not work. If you are simply replacing your older Motorhead, it might work fine but I did not have one to compare. The good news is if you can’t reuse your docking station, the new one uses the same screw holes. There is no need to go making extra holes in your wall to accommodate.
Comparing to the V6 Motorhead, Dyson has increase the runtime 50% from 20 minutes to 30 while reducing the sound levels. In fact, during initial testing it was quiet enough to warrant thinking it is weaker. Nothing could be further from the truth. On low, the brushes could be felt beating the carpet. On high, it could lift a high pile throw rug. With such a powerful unit, a manually adjustable height would be helpful to prevent it from grabbing the carpet. If you want to use turbo mode on high pile, it is best to only pull the vacuum towards you because even if you could push it the suction would cause the motor protection to stop the roller. Overall, carpets are where this unit shines. Although very capable on hard surfaces and handy for quick cleanups, some debris would hit the roller and simply fly to another part of the room. It’s a common problem with multi surface vacuums and is not unique. Often, a second pass often was able to pick up the offending piece. It does highlight that the V7 Motorhead is better for carpet than hard surfaces.
The V7 Motorhead comes with a combination tool and crevice tool. Both work well at their respective jobs. The combination tool has such long brushes that you will likely find yourself using turbo mode or the suction is not strong enough to reach the length of the bristles. The system for change accessories is very easy to use and quick. Whether cleaning the floor, your couch, or the hidden corners of your house just grab the accessory for the job and with a quick click you are ready to go. The quick release buttons are big and easy to press.
Cleanup is easy. The unit includes a washable HEPA filter to make sure that last bit of dust doesn’t end up back in the air. It isn’t primary way dirt and grime are trapped so you will rarely need to clean it. The dirt bin is large enough to accommodate 2 or 3 moderately dirty rooms before needing to be emptied. The clear container has a full line so you know when to stop but pet hair might make this difficult to read as it sticks up high in the container. Emptying is very easy but best achieved in an empty bag. When you pull the lever and the bottom falls out, the debris comes falling out as well and can create a dust cloud. This method is an area where Dyson should continue working on new innovations. If your trash bag is too full and you attempt this, you might end up with dust all around your trash can. The first few times the release lever is used, it might feel a bit tight and make a sound giving you the impression you are breaking it. After several uses, the lever loosens up to feel more natural. A nice feature is that the filter screen pulls up when emptying as the debris falls out of the bottom. The reason this is nice is because, particularly if you have pets, the screen gets clogged with pet hair. As the mesh is pulled up, it widens the gap between the mesh and container allowing any debris trapped on the mesh to simply fall. If anything else remains, the mesh is easily accessible to clean.
Overall the V7 Motorhead is a capable, well thought out, cordless vacuum. Understandably, it is not as powerful as its upright counterparts. With the power of the V7 Motorhead, t he question is if you need more. In testing, the V7 Motorhead could pick up nearly anything except items too larger for the roller to pick up. If maximum cleaning power and suction are most important, look towards the Dyson upright models. If want something for quick spot cleanups or overall house cleanup without the hassle of a cord, this will work well. Bear in mind, if you wish to test the 30-minute runtime of the unit you likely will find the initially light 5.45 pounds starts to make your hand sore. Having such a capable cordless makes cleanup easier, excuse free, and almost fun.

Amazing little vacuum; my elderly mother loves it!

I gave the Dyson V7 Motorhead to my mother. One could imagine that you would hear honest opinion about the vacuum or get yelled at if it is not good. have helped her take it out of the box and got to charging for her.
All I can say is that she loves the vacuum. That is all I hear about it. If my elderly mother is telling me how easy it is to use... how easy it is to clean the rollers, the vacuum lasts through cleaning the whole house (carped stairs, living room, throw rugs in the kitchen and rugged dining room) I must say that is impressive. She is quite meticulous when it comes to cleaning.
The weight is very good for her. She comments that swapping attachments is very easy (I never showed her how... and usually anything with technology I would :) )
The only complaint I did receive was that she has to keep in mind that she has to hold the trigger to keep the vacuum running but it isn't a true problem.
I have been using the vacuum too and how much debris it can pick up is amazing. Cleaning out the little bugger is as easy as pulling a lever.
If Dyson could create a product that my mother could easily use and pretty much brags about it. I must say well done. She has gone through a few vacuums and this passed the test.
If you are looking for a great portable product, I highly recommend to consider this vacuum.

Over the years I've had many portable vacuums with varying degrees of effectiveness, most of them end up with battery issues or just are not very powerful. More than that, they are rarely able to pick up more than just the smallest amount of crumbs or pet hair off a hard floor, much less a carpet.
Enter the Dyson v7 Motorhead. This device is effective enough to replace even your standard everyday vacuum for most people (except those with very deep-pile carpet). The cleaning head introduces a level of power to a portable vacuum that I've never experienced and is great at what it does. The suction power is excellent, picking up everything I needed it to, even on carpet.
It has multiple attachments, the aformentioned motorhead, an angle chute and a brush attachment. It also comes with a wall hanging mount/dock which makes it so you dont have to dig around for the charging cord every time you go to replace it on the dock. The one down side to the dock is that mine did not come with the mounting screws even though the directions said it was supposed to, so I have not been able to mount it yet.
The one down side to this portable vacuum is actually its weight, especially with the motorhead attached. If you're trying to vacuum a large area rug you will feel it start to wear against the soft spot between your thumb and forefinger. The reason for this is that it has no real wheels (it has tiny ones for hard floors but nothing that would help carpet) so you're fighting against the friction introduced by a carpet, so when pushing it, the weight of the device is pushing back against the soft spot on your hand, and when pulling it back towards you, you're fighting against the forward motion of the motorhead.
Outside of those minor things, this is a great vacuum and I'd recommend it to anyone with many area rugs, a large amount of hard floor or a smaller living space where a full size vacuum doesn't make as much sense.

The Dyson V7 Motorhead is amazingly powerful where it counts most, where the Brush Bar meets the Carpet and robust in build. A brilliantly built appliance that is surprisingly stout in a light cordless vacuum that hands down out cleans my corded upright.
The main traffic area in our home was due a vacuuming when the Dyson V7 arrived so we tested it against our upright. First, we gave the high traffic area a thorough cleaning with our corded upright which deposited a good deal in the canister.
Second, we vacuumed over the same area with the Dyson V7 and was instantly sold, the Dyson quickly collected a substantial quantity of debris in the canister immediately after using our trusty corded vacuum cleaner.
Advantages and conveniences:
It is Light as a feather.
Quiet, have never heard a quiet vacuum. That is very nice and does not drive my Beagle nuts.
The design is outstanding for getting to the hard to reach spaces, like Under the Bed. Along with the lightness and the agility it makes cleaning under the bed a snap. Vacuuming corners of the ceiling, shelves, widow sills, you name it and the Dyson V7 makes short work of the job.
Looks cool enough that your kid may want to do the vacuuming, at least for a while.
Believe our battery held up longer than the advertised 30 minutes and we completed our Living-room, office, and hallway on one charge. Impressive.
The Docking Station is a big plus for vacuum and accessory storage and charging. Fits out of sight easily in a corner in the utility room.
Thumbs up all around.

This dyson vacuum is so powerful that you would think it should of been bigger. Lets start from the beginning. I'm happy with the packaging but the last dyson that I received was packaged like it was worth so much this time not the same but not horrible. Very simple manual that you will have it assembled in 2 clicks. Seriously with just 2 clicks the v7 motorhead is all good to go because it's pre charged at 20% but I do recommend giving it a full charge to use it at its maximum capacity. I've always wanted a cordless vacuum and with the v7 I can do just about any vacuuming without being attached to the cord that always get tangled and damaged by accidentally vacuuming the cord. Do anyone else love the Dyson sound like I do? This motorhead v7 completes my vacuum needs and lasts for about 30 minutes with a full charge and about 15 minutes if using maximum power. The v7 motorhead is easy and convenient to use. It is really the best vacuum that I've used so far and I'm very pleased with the results for now. I'm so happy with it that I find it hard to find something wrong with it. The design team thought of pretty much every hassle we have from the weight, power to emptying the compartment and created this v7. This is my easiest review because I'm excited to tell someone else to try this.

I just unpacked this bad boy, well girl since it is hot pink and like any other house gadget/toy I had to give it a try right out of the box.
I'm glad to have this in our house since we just got rid of carpet all over the house and I had no clue how I was going to maintain the wood floors all over the house.
So quick and spiffy: this wireless handheld vacuum is easy to assemble, quick to charge and I finally have something that can swivel in an angle under those hard to reach areas like my couch but also comes with a brush attachment which I was in awe of because those small spider webs that gather in corners were suctioned up in an instant.
I'll be honest, I am not sure how to assemble to wall mount and I have no worry it will be easy.
After giving it a few tries I can say that my only concern was the suction because it is not as loud as my Dyson Animal but no worries there either. Dyson has gotten better at producing a quiet machine that still packs a punch! Next I want to get the Dyson robot vac because it looks amazing!

Great little vacuum with the power and attitude of a big one, the attachments make it easy to use in a variety of different scenarios, reach spots that a regular size vacuum will not.
The convenience of not having a cord makes it very easy to use for auto detailing and to reach high spots very light and the battery life is great, it also charges in no time and the charge lasts enough to vacuum the whole house i definitely would recommend this.
The only thing that i think could make this even better (if at all possible) would be if it came with a small version of the carpet brush attachment.

I had high expectations for this Dyson V7 Motorhead, but was only really impressed by its lightweight handling and sleek, high end design. It did not meet my expectations on cleaning capabilities. It does clearly state on their website that on the max setting you only will be able to use it for 6 minutes and 30 minutes on normal setting. For that amount of time this can only really be used for spot cleaning, which it does a great job, but not for deep or extended cleaning. The hygienic ejector bin did a good job of removing all debris, including hair from the dust bin. I also liked the ease of swapping attachments via the quick release buttons. The motorhead attachment works great on tile, hardwood, or low pile carpet. On rugs or thick carpet the head would stop spinning often. Overall, the V7 Motorhead is great for spot cleaning or if you have medium size area of tile or hardwood floors to clean. It won't replace your vacuum but it is great tool to supplement your larger, corded vacuum.

The V7 motorhead is very powerful for its size. It picks up everything in its path. It's great on the hardwood floor and yes you can use it on your carpet but I'm going to use it more for the tiles, hardwood floors, my car and hard to get to areas. The V7 motorhead gives me about 30 minutes in normal power and about 15 in high power. If you are worried about that just remember it only takes about 3 hours to fully charge. I had it mounted as described with anchors at a convenient location in my closet. Also assembly for the motorhead was only 3 clicks don't believe check the manual. This is so far the best vacuum for my needs and very happy that I now own a Dyson vacuum. The designers and engineers really did research because I find it hard to find flaws about the v7 motorhead. I'm excited to recommend people that are looking for a convenient light weight, cordless and powerful vacuum to try the v7 motorhead. I also think it sounds better than the vacuums that I have used.

I bought Dyson - V7 Motorhead Cord-Free Stick Vacuum - Fuschia after looking for a vaccum for a while and looking at reviews I decided on Dyson A few things that I like about this vacuum: It’s easy to use, It’s not very heavy which means I can finish vacuum my whole place without sore hand or arm and the best part is cordless. I can vaccum hard surface, low pile carpet and even my shaggy rug I can vaccum with no problem. The suction is crazy good. love that you can simply empty it directly into a garbage bin,

To those who have bought this or are considering this product, based on battery time on this vs. the lesser Dyson products, please note--the battery times are very accurate, based on regular power. If you intend on using this at Max power, expect that life to be halfed. With that said, the product operates great for staircases, couches, cars, and other hard to reach areas while remaining lightweight and easy to handle.

It's quiet and lightweight. One charge lets me vacuum one floor in my house, and the seemingly small capacity for dirt/debris has never been a problem. It's easy to maneuver on stairs. The attachments have all come in handy, from cleaning out the crevices in a car to clearing spackle dust from a home improvement project. (I literally vacuumed the wall after sanding, and that got most of the fine dust, leaving little for the tack cloth to pick up.) It vacuums high pile rugs and hard floors equally well. My only minor complaint is that the max suction is too powerful for my smooth kitchen mat; the brush just stops dead as soon as I pass it over the mat. So, like some kind of neo-luddite barbarian, I'm forced to use a broom.

First of all, let me say that I have never owned a "premium" vacuum cleaner. I've only had used ones that I've acquired or a bargain-priced new one. I have hardwood and linoleum floors ans a carpeted staircase. I really wanted something cordless and easy to maneuver on the stairs, so I decided to splurge on a Dyson, the Apple of vacuums. I expected a lot.
CONS:
- The run time! I have a small apartment, but it's dirty. This vacuum doesn't even clean a room thoroughly before it needs recharging. And it's a 5-hour wait time to charge it
- The suction. Maximum suction works best but then your run time is half as long (or I should say, short) as Regular suction.
- You must empty the dust cup after every time you vacuum. It simply is not large enough to hold much. And it is awkward to dump. Vacuum attachments must be removed and vacuum must be enclosed in garbage bag or you risk getting a floor full of dirt. It's a little hard to do and then snap back together.
- The filter needs to be hand-washed every so often, then air-dryed. And do not put it back damp or you risk damaging the vacuum (so I have read). Takes a couple days to thoroughly air-dry.
PROS:
- It is a good vacuum, best I've had. It picks up dirt you wouldn't even know is there.
- I like the way it snaps off to become a hand-held vacuum, with a long stick to use for cobwebs or hard-to-reach areas.
- Good on the floors or the short carpets, definitely.
- No cord to get tangled up on the stairs.
- I like the wall docking station. It keeps vacuum out of the way.
Am I happy with the purchase? I am glad to have a way to finally tackle my stairs withour wrestling with a full-size corded vacuum or wimpy dustbuster. I would like it if I were able to get a room vacuumed on the same charge though. But I see that would require the $500+ Dyson to accomplish that. Sigh.
