Better than any other vacuum I’ve owned. It’s flexes and moves to vacuum and also, is very clean.

This is my second Shark. I have tried other brands but this one gets the work done with a minimum of fuss. Easy to push. Can easily go from bare floor to rug without having to make manual adjustments. A simple flip of the switch turns the beater bar off and on.

Great Vacuum — A bit pricey

I was raised in an “Upright” vacuum home. That’s what I used growing up and what I was most comfortable with. But when I married, my husband had an old Sears canister vacuum that he refused to part with. So for the last 21 years we’ve been using that and I’ve always missed an upright. So I decided to give the Shark Navigator Swivel NV26 a try. I was mostly impressed with this vacuum. From a performance standpoint, it seems to pull up every bit as much or more than our current bagger. It’s light enough to easily carry between floors of our home which is critical in a townhouse. An added benefit is that most of the accessory tools have a place right on the vacuum. Accessories included are a crevice tool, dusting brush and small, vacuum driven beater bar for steps and tight places. Only the small beater bar does not have a place right on the vacuum. But for me, it’s a rarely used accessory so I’ll just store it in the cupboard where I will store the vacuum. Regardless of what type of vacuum you buy, if you want one that works really well it has to have a cord. On my old canister there is a retracting wheel inside that will coil up the cord internally. This is what I will miss most. But even though the Shark doesn’t have such a thing, the cord winding posts are easily accessible—though sometimes you need to hold the tube to the side. One smart part of the design is that when you have the cord on the posts, both will pivot inward allowing you to slip the cord right off without having to unwrap the entire length. Assembly was relatively simple. Snap the head onto the body, push a couple of hoses into place and then slip in the handle which requires fastening with a long bolt. No worries, just a simple flathead screwdriver is needed and you’re done. Operation is dead simple. There’s a 3 position switch to accommodate different floor types. Position 0, off; position 1 runs the suction motor only for cleaning small rugs and hard surfaces; and position 2 turns on the beater bar for carpet agitation. To release the handle from the upright locked position, you step on the power head and pull up and back. Rather than an actual release switch type of mechanism it appears to be more of a friction fit. So I’m skeptical of how this part will hold up over time. The width of the power head is a fair bit narrower than any of my previous uprights or canister vacuums. So you need to make a few more passes per room to get full coverage. But I’m sure this was a design choice to make it lighter and easier to navigate. Emptying is another simple operation. It’s not exactly intuitive, but once you read the instructions you see how easy it really is. (yes, I had to read the directions) So in my first few uses I’m mostly impressed. Very good operation, good accessory assortment, much lighter than most uprights, easy cleaning/emptying and a little quieter than some others. I feel the price is a little higher than need be, but I’m very happy with this selection.

This was my best purchase to date for a vacuum. It does exactly what it says. It never loose suction. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone whose looking to purchase a vacuum. You won’t be disappointed with it. It’s well worth the money that you spend.

It's a vacuum. It does what vacuums do. Only complaints: sometimes the suction is a little too good on some surfaces (it's a good workout, though) and the bin needs to be emptied more often than my old school bagged vacuum (but that's easy enough to do).

This vacuum gets the job done. We use this in an office that receives lots of traffic. Performs to expectations and simple to use. The tools make it easy to keep corners and hard to reach areas clean. This replaces a Dyson and it is a nice change!

We’re owned a couple Shark vacuums and they provide great cleaning with a carpet and non-carpet settings. Love the bagless feature. Just got to remember to periodically clean the bristles of the hair that gets all rolled up in it.

    Shark NV-26 Vac Surprisingly Great

I chose this shark above all others because of the size of the dirt collection cup when in fact I should have chosen by features instead. With that said, I am incredibly happy with my choice for sweeping the entire house which is all carpet with the exception of 2 bathrooms, kitchen and dining room, and the laundry room in the basement. We have a split level home with a fully finished basement with 4 bedrooms, just for size reference, so needless to say we have a lot of carpet to keep clean. We have been using a Dyson full sized vac for the past 2 years and we've been very happy with what we thought was a very good vacuum until we received our new shark and after putting it together, I had to try it out just to see what the hype of the swivel head was all about and wow it really works great for my wife and I but my mother-in-law who is 87 doesn't really like the swivel much because of arthritis but has been wanting a Shark for several years which is one of the reasons I chose this model and she also says it feels heavy to her. Now at 15 pounds is a little hard for me to see since I am a 51 year old man. Now I'm definitely not in the greatest shape and gradually increasing back and neck problems. So I thought I should try it out before she used it to see how much of a problem the swivel head might be for her, but it really felt good as far as the weight and how easy it is to maneuver around furniture so I was a little surprised hearing that from her. Normally when I am doing any kind of activities such as sweeping or mowing, It usually causes me a great deal of pain and as long as I didn't get crazy with how far out I pushed it in front of me, then I didn't have the normal amount of pain which normally causes me to take a break after 15 to 20 minutes so I was very pleased with how it felt and I only swept our living room and down the hall but after doing all of that, I felt like I could actually sweep the entire house without stopping with the shark and I have never felt like this with any other sweeper we have had including the Dyson! Speaking of the Dyson, my mother-in-law had just swept the entire house a day and a half before the shark arrived. So I wasn't expecting to pickup much, if any dirt when I started sweeping and man was I shocked by how much dirt and dust the Shark picked up that the Dyson had missed and not only that but you could easily see a difference in how much cleaner the carpet looked after I was done! So I was instantly sold on the Shark NV-26 and after using the Shark they have just earned another lifelong customer and for anyone looking for a pretty nice OK Dyson, then I have one that I am willing to sell you for an incredibly cheap price! Lol, In other word's I cannot recommend the Shark NV-26 enough and will definitely be buying another Shark when that time comes. Oh, I was so impressed with it's power and ease of use that I totally forgot to mention the great accessories that stow on board except for the pet hair furniture attachment which also works fantastic and last but not least is the very long power chord, that is long enough for us anyway to sweep each floor from one outlet which is another great detail that Shark included on this model to make it very convenient and just 1 more reason why anyone in the market for a new vacuum should compare this to any comparable models from any manufacturer and I just don't believe that you can find a better vacuum. I wish I would have bought a Shark year's ago when I blew 2 grand on a filter queen, which was by far my biggest disappointing waist of money that I have ever spent, but live and learn and if this helps anyone from making that same mistake, then this would end up being the best review that I have ever had the pleasure of writing!

This vacuum is very good, both carpet and floor. It has very good suction power. - I only gave it four stars, but only because I wish the cord was longer, but that's just personal preference and really has nothing to do with actual performance.

It's not bad for the price you paid for. I love the fact that it is bagless. The suction is great, but you do need routinely clean out the debris and hair stuck on the bottom to ensure it works at its best.

This machine is very easy to use. The glide is smooth and easy and the pick up is more than adequate. If there is a draw back, it could use a Light on the front.
