I love that this is cordless and I can vacuum my whole house in one run. Also love that I can switch from hard floor to carpet with a button. I am not 100% convinced that it has the best power, however it makes it easier and quicker to vacuum the entire house so that offsets my concern. My biggest pet peeve is that Every time I pull it out of the corner to vacuum, the wand releases. I am not pressing any release button or pulling up on it, it just comes off. As soon as I re-connect it it is fine, but it’s annoying that it comes off every time just to get it going. I don’t know why that happens?!?!??

This is the best thing since sliced bread. It's easy to use and when the motor/battery unit is detached, it's lighter than I thought it would be. Going cordless improves our vacuuming workload. You don't have to worry about moving a cord around furniture and other obstacles. The boss, my wife, is also a happy camper. And, when the boss is happy, I'm happy.

I love my vacuum and I especially love that I can have a backup battery ready to go for those days I need it. The only thing I would change is the brush roll because with three pets it tends to get clogged in no time causing me to constantly clean it. With that said, it’s a small price to pay to be able to vacuum up everything from leaves and cereal to sugar or any other fine material. I also have a rechargeable dyson and a dyson dc40 and when it comes to maneuvering this one beats both of them out and it picks up the stuff on the floor the others won’t. My family loves this powerful vacuum and we now vacuum drastically more since it’s so easy to take out and use.

Light, convenient, easy to use, battery lasts plenty long, we can vacuum our entire 3k SF house almost twice between charges. The attachments and alternative uses are easy, and the multi-floor function is easy and very effective. We were nervous about a cordless vacuum for constant use, but we're in love.

I have had this vacuum for a couple of weeks and it’s size and ease of movement have added to my life easily. Instead of looking around at crumbs, cat hair, etc and thinking I WILL vacuum soon; I pull it out and vacuum accumulated almost EVERY morning!!

I have 6 children and I’ve been through some vacuum cleaners. It picks up just about every crumb on my floor in one pass. I can get my whole house (1000sf not very big) vacuumed on one charge. This is by far the best vacuum I’ve had. Definitely worth every penny!!

I have always had an upright vacuum. But this one is perfect, lightweight for carrying upstairs. Plus it breaks away to vaccum the stairs. I love it & no cord to get in the way!

This vacuum has some amazing features -- it's cordless and has every bit of power as a plug-in machine. It's light weight and very well designed for maneuverability, and the battery lasts long enough to get most of your vacuuming done. It has all sorts of configuration options so you can use it as a canister, a stick, or a normal vacuum to take care of any job you'd have.
It has bright headlights, great to see what's in your path. The biggest surprise for me was just how quiet it is. Somehow it has phenomenal vacuum power without sounding like a jet taking off. It also has a turbo button for when you do want it to sound like a jet.
One thing I really like about it is they put a lot of thought around the long-term use of this; all the key parts are removable so you can untangle and unclog the rollers and wash the filters.
With all those outstanding features, there's a huge problem with its overall usability. Maybe I'm spoiled, but for this price and compared with all the other vacuums out there I would expect this vacuum to have some kind of tool storage.
There's no place on the vacuum to keep tools handy and no wall or floor rack for storing the tools. As I was unpacking it, I was digging in the box for any way to keep the tools. I have an older Shark vacuum that came with onboard tools storage clips and even a wall hanging rack. But there wasn't anything and I almost cried. Well, not really, but now I'm stuck with these crevice tools and no real good way to store them or keep them handy while I'm vacuuming.
It looks like they make a base for it, so I'll probably get it, but it seems kinda lame to have to order a $60 part that should probably have come with it.
It's a keeper, I really like this one and it easily replaces any corded vacuum, I'm just a bit disappointed by the inconvenience of having no way to store tools.

I like the that the vacuum is cordless and seems to have good suction for battery powered. I don't like how you need to buy some much needed attachments to get full functionality out of it.

This Shark ION has good suction power and is acceptably maneuverable. Much better than the one with the motor up on the top of the handle. The detachable handle makes cleaning nooks and crannies easy and with adequate suction power. Has plenty of vacuum power on the carpet or wood without using the Boost! A bit heavy but acceptable. And you don't have to mess with that cord!!

Vacuum works well but battery life is much less than advertised. I probably get about 30 mins of life vacuuming hardwood floors and a couple rugs.
The vacuum itself is designed very well. Having th battery and debris canister off the handle makes the vacuum much lighter. And you can take the canister off the main stem to get under furniture easily.

Ever since Dyson started designing and selling vacuums that look like some sort of alien space weapon from a superhero movie, other vacuum companies were quick to follow the trend. Why buy a boring vacuum that looks like your grandmother owned, when you can have one that George Jetson’s maid Rosie would be proud to use?
I’m not immune from being dazzled by brightly colored polystyrene molded and snapped together to form a vacuum cleaner. These type of vacuum cleaners are likely to be a fad, and when the pendulum swings back we’ll all be clamoring for art decor-styled vacuums built out of formed aluminum shells. You read it here first!
The ION P50 is a newly released upright cordless vacuum from SharkNinja. It is a futuristic looking machine, designed around Shark’s patented DuoClean technology and a 28.8v Lithium-Ion battery pack. As with most all vacuums it comes with a multitude of attachments to tackle all of your cleaning needs. But the primary attachment is its powered head unit. I use this attachment ninety percent of the time. It’s a nicely engineered component that really works terrific.
Before you can start cleaning, you have to charge up the battery (just like you would your smartphone). Figure on up to four hours to recharge a completely drained battery. It’s a Lithium Ion battery so there’s no worry about a memory effect shortening the life of the cells. So when your done cleaning, no matter what the battery level - simply plug it back in to recharge until you need it again. That said remember this is a battery powered vacuum, so you are limited to how long you can run it (unless you buy multiple batteries). You cannot run this vacuum off the household AC, so keep that in mind. Depending on your needs this may limit you. In my case it’s perfect! I own a small robotic vacuum that takes care of most of my condo, then I use the P50 to finish cleaning the areas that the robot vacuum can’t reach. They make for a good tag team to keep my carpets, and hardwood floors very clean.
In the month since I have owned the P50 I have averaged around 30 minutes of vacuuming before running low on juice. The powered head unit a little less time, than the non-powered attachments. There’s also a “boost mode”, which increases the vacuuming power, when you need it just press a button! But you will drain the battery much quicker in this mode - so use sparingly. The battery chemistry is nicely matched for this application since depletion of energy is fairly linear. Other cheaper battery chemistries might not work as well since they tend to lose amperage as they drain down. Kudos to the SharkNinja engineers for using Lithium Ion.
I found the P50 to have more than adequate power to clean my carpets (and wood floors). I would say it isn’t a powerful as an AC power unit. But, the convenience of no wire and plug outweighs the small difference. My carpets are pretty clean already (and fairly new), and there isn’t a lot of traffic over them. So my vacuums have a pretty cushy job at my home! With the power head in place the P50 does take some getting use to. The entire unit weighs 12 lbs., but the weight distribution feels a bit lopsided to me… The power head feels much heavier than the rest of the unit, so it’s bottom heavy. Which is likely true in most vacuums, but swivel on the Ninja power head moves around almost too easily. So you have to constantly adjust how much pressure and in which direction. Once you get the knack of it moving the vacuum head around is quite effortless. But I’ve noted that it can be a bit of a pain if you need to vacuum stairs, or other areas where you need to pick up the power head off the floor and move it to a different location. Again, this is a huge nitpick.
When the P50 is in Lift-Away mode it is incredibly easy to use. It is amazingly lightweight in this configuration. Particularly in a minimalist mode where just an attachment is connected to the main body. I found myself going out of my way to clean hard to get areas simply because I could and it was oddly gratifying. The P50 in this configuration also found its way to our cars, where it did a great job cleaning out the sand from the summer months.
The dirt collection cup holds a decent amount before needing to be emptied. It’s easy to unattach from the main body and carry to a trash can. So much easier than other vacuums I’ve used. The P50 features a HEPA filter enclosed in a sealed area of the vacuum. Shark claims this combination filters out particulates down to .3 microns. I don’t know how to test that! Hah! So, I’ll just believe them. I will say that I do notice the filter getting discolored over time. I don’t have allergies to dust, but for those people that do - this is a huge plus for a vacuum of this type.
In conclusion I give this vacuum two thumbs up, and recommend it. The only problem I’ve had was with a poorly designed plastic clip that keeps the hose attached to the back of the down tube. It broke within the first week that I started using the P50. Super glue came to the rescue, and so far it’s holding. I was disappointed to find that the P50 didn’t come with a bag to keep the attachments in. It seems a little odd because there’s no obvious place to put the attachments. Cost cutting measures probably eliminated a bag, but I would have paid another dollar to the bean counters to include one in the kit. SharkNinja sells a plethora of attachments for the P50, and ‘yes’ you can purchase an attachment bag…
If you need a cordless vacuum that is powerful, quiet and pardon the pun “sucks well”, you need to look no further. The P50 works great for me, I like it a lot and I think you’ll like it too!

Gets all the pet hair (we have four pets that shed including two huskies) battery life is pretty good, we can vacuum the whole house twice with one charge and the battery charges back up in just a couple hours. The dirt can is a little small, but that’s okay. Overall we’re very happy with this purchase so far!

Struggled finding the right cordless vac, and this one fits the bill for our uses. We have a mix of hard and carpet flooring, and this can get around anywhere. Dust bin is easy to pop off and empty. So far the battery is giving us a decent charge, we shall see how that lasts. We use this as a supplement to a robot vacuum, so it isn't getting tons of use.
