Great option for a small apartment

Although this takes up a tad more space than other stick-type vacuums, this is still a good option if you have a small apartment with few outlets. The charging cradle means I can basically charge the battery anywhere and I've had no problems with battery life. I can complete all my vacuuming without the battery dying. I like the option of of getting an extra backup battery just in case. The performance of the actual vacuum is great. My place is so much cleaner simply because I love using this vacuum so I use it often.

Though this "handy" vacuum does most of the functions featured in advertisement, it leaves some to be desired. Mostly, if you cannot get a replacement battery for it, how can you use it? 5 Yr. Guarantee and useless for lack of power. The hose is short and wand also limited in flexibility. Plastic (as everything is today), is not of the strongest quality so be gentle please. Brushes not as easy to clean as claimed in add. Shame Best Buy made this product available when they must have known of the above mentioned drawbacks. I will probably be returning soon if SharkNINJA does not produce replacement battery soon. Bought Feb. 2020, been trying to get extra power since!

I bought this vacuum because I have 2 dogs (one is a lab) and 3 cats. We luckily have hardwood floors but I needed a vac that would handle the load. It is super light, works great, and is easy to store. The mechanisms and buttons work well. Best part is how easy the canister is to remove and empty. Highly Recommend. Ps. I also use on area rugs but cannot comment how well it works on regular carpets.

This is a cool vacuum. Nice concept appeared to be break threw technology for the vacuum. When it boils down to it. This vacuum dosen't meet up to a dyson.

I have to say I've been skeptical of these various vacuum companies moving away from the plug-in full size vacuums to these battery powered more portable devices, but this one was a pleasant surprise. I have owned some of the other portable style vacuums from the other major brand in this market segment and have been less than wowed by them. Sure they get the job done, but when compared to a full size vacuum, it just didn't cut it. The Shark ION P50 is well on it's way to making me a convert however. First, the vacuum itself is lightweight and easy to maneuver. It's not difficult to push or steer it even with the motor attached to the stick. I had feared it might be too heavy but it really isn't. The dual-head system pics up everything I've managed to put in front of it and even cleaned up more stuff left behind by our other vacuum. I was shocked to see how much stuff this vacuum cleaned up on what I would have considered already clean floors. Next, unlike most stick-style vacuums, this one is capable of standing up on it's own. It doesn't have to be mounted in a wall and you don't have to keep it near a plug because the battery pack is removable, which I have to say is one of the greatest things about it. Being able to put it in a closet and charge the battery pack somewhere else is a very smart move and one that I think every other brand should consider doing if they are in the stick-vac market segment. The battery life is phenomenal, and I would hope it would be based on the size of the battery. I was able to vacuum all of the carpet in my house and all of the hard floors in my house and I was still in the first bar (of 3) of power on the battery pack. In addition the dust cup is much larger than most vacs in the segment. The vacuum has a carpet and hard floor setting, both which worked well and didn't have any issues picking up anything in front of them, but if it did there is a 'boost' button as well that provides a boost of power so long as it is held down (if the head is attached). It will stay in boost mode without the head attached and can be toggled off or on. In terms of mobility and maneuverability, it is definitely no slouch. It has that nearly 'zero turn' thing that most current generation vacuums have, but its light weight does lend to a couple of minor issues. The marketing material shows people vacuuming with the motor unit in the non-dominant hand and vacuuming with the stick. I found this to be an entirely pointless activity, as the stick is too lightweight. You find that when you pull the vacuum back towards yourself, it tends to lift up the head so it is no longer making complete contact with the carpet. The added weight of the motor on the stick prevents that. The only other gripe I have is it does not edge walls and baseboards very well. Many other current vacuums have the brush running almost completely to the edge. This one has a solid inch on either side of the brush to the edge of the head which makes getting in close a lot more difficult. Overall I'm definitely happier with this vacuum than the previous stick vac I had. In fact I'll definitely be reaching for this over my full-size any day. Pros: Good suction LONG battery life Separate battery from main unit Lightweight Numerous attachments Cons: Edging is poor Too light without the motor on it when using it in floor mode

The first year was flawless with the vacuum, but after that, there were a multitude of problems. The vacuum would turn off due to overheating, but I would only be using it for less than 10 minutes in winter. Other issues would include the suction power would stop working when turning off the vacuum, so little rocks would come out at the end for some reason.

    Another Stellar Shark Product

The Shark ION P50 comes at a steep price, but if offers a great deal of versatility. First off, I am huge fan of lift away vacuums because I think carrying the bulk of the vacuum in one hand while having a light wand in the other is much easier to use and handle during extended periods of use. This is by far the lightest vacuum I have used and both my wife and I are very appreciative of how easy it is to operate. Having owned other Shark products in the past it was fairly easy to get this setup straight out of the box. Everything is engineered perfectly to come together in a series of clicks and snaps. Overall it only took me about 5 minutes to get this thing going once the box was open. The power and mode selection are conveniently located on the handle as well as the boost button. This makes it very simple to switch between hard floors and carpets and engage extra cleaning power if needed. It should be noted that in order to maintain the boost mode you must hold down the button. Though this vacuum does have a smaller head, it actually makes it more effective in getting in those tight spaces and stairways where the cordless units were built for. It comes with several attachments that I would say are standard for Shark products, dust/crevice attachment and a furniture tool. Like many have said, there is no on-board storage for these attachments but it is really not the end of the world, it certainly makes a better case for purchasing the dock for this vacuum. On the first full charge we got around 40 minutes of cleaning time out of it with some mixed in boost time, it certainly got the job done for light detailing around the house. I would not say I would completely replace our corded vacuum with this, but that is mostly due to the size of our house and our 2 dogs and cat. Pros: -Lightweight -Long lasting battery -Very quiet operation -Lift away style, easy to carry and use, stands on its own (upright) -Duo clean brush grabs large particles and hairs off hardwood effectively -LED lights help see in low-light areas -HEPA filter Cons: -No Zero-M Technology which would alleviate the need to clean main brush -No carry/storage bag for attachments For our home this is an excellent compliment to our corded vacuum which allows us to to perform some fine detailing in between those periods of heavy house cleaning. Convenience is the main seller here, while the Shark brand and performance seal the deal for me. Highly recommend!

There are many other reviews like mine that state this vacuum loses its suction or the battery stopped being able to charge. It was a great vacuum for 2 months until it just stopped with the suction. However, note that a lot of hair accumulated on the bottom, which I thought this vacuum was supposed to have a prevention for. The accumulation of hair in 1 month was more than my Dyson ever grabbed in a year without the hair prevention roller! I would not recommend and wish I got the Bissel Crosswave instead. Now I have to figure out if this is under warranty and go through a hassle of having no vacuum. I am also very displeased that this is noted on Best Buy as not being able to be returned after one month of purchase. If the product fails, why can it not be returned?

Vacuum is amazing. Comparable to the Dyson v10. The dual functionality button to switch from carpet to hardwood is a plus. The boost button is really strong but be careful because it will drain the battery. Highly recommend this vacuum.

    Great cordless vacuum...

Unboxing the Shark cordless vacuum was fairly painless. It took just 6 steps, one was charging and installing the battery to get the unit up and running. It comes with 3 attachments...more on that in a second. Basically you attach the wand to the DuoClean floor nozzle, attach the handle to the wand, then the pod and hose to the wand. The attachments included are the duster/crevice tool, brush, and upholstery tool. My issue with them are that with this unit, attachments are one of the features of the vacuum, yet there isn't a place to carry them on board. I've found that with all of my Shark vacuums, attachments are an afterthought. The snap on caddy I have with another model is poor and tends to either get in the way or fall off during use. With this model, the choice is to purchase the charging pad (not included) and place the attachment there or do what I have and tie a grocery bag to the handle and carry the tools with me. Who wants to walk back to the station to get tools. I guess you can carry them in your pocket as you vacuum! Shark needs to design a better solution and it's the reason for 4 stars. What I like. This model has dual headlights and I like having lights low to see traffic areas. The battery is a good design and looks sturdy. It does come with a charging cradle that you can set on a counter or it's small enough to store in a drawer until needed. The box states a 50 minute use time, I haven't had a chance to drain the unit to find out. It does have 3 indicator lights on the battery to easily see the status. The power lift off, the ability to remove the handle or wand and add an attachment are great features. I can easily use the handle to clean furniture, the wand to do edge work and the lift off in areas that don't work well with the floor nozzle. As with most vacuums, the Shark has a couple of filters that will need cleaning and eventually replaced. Just factor in an additional cost down the road. All in all the unit is a 5 star vacuum. I just have to take one away for the poor accessory design. With the clip on rail behind the wand, maybe they could have the crevice tool attach to it. Not carrying the brush or upholstery tool would have been acceptable, but I use the crevice tool with every vacuum session.
