Great for Phone Calls and Good for Workouts

I have owned many different pairs of workout Bluetooth headphones and each had features I liked and disliked about them. I have also owned quite a few Jaybird products and was excited to try these out.
Setup
Jaybird makes setup easy. Just turn on the headphones, select Jaybird Tarah Pro from your phone’s Bluetooth menu and you are ready to start using them. Downloading the Jaybird app allows you to tweak the sound to your preference, and it is easy to navigate.
Use
The first thing I noticed on the Jaybird Tarah Pro is the braided cord. This cord makes it very unlikely to ever become tangled in your gym bag and prevents the cord from sticking to your neck during a workout. The only downside of having a braided cord is that I was able to hear more cord rustling while running with a jacket on. I also found the sliding cinch and rotating earbuds wonderful for quickly changing the cable in front for phone conversations and in the back for workouts.
One of the negative things about these headphones was that the power button would have to be pressed for a few seconds in order to get them to turn on. Normally this would not be a problem, but these also require a certain amount of pressure too, which made it aggravating.
I was unimpressed with the lack of bass, so I tried to adjust the earbuds and even modified the sound in the app, but could not obtain the low range I was looking for. As for the highs and mids, they were full and clear.
With the volume control/mic located in the front of the neck, my phone call recipient stated my voice was at a good volume and clear. However, when I had the cord cinched on the back of my neck, my voice was muffled and quiet.
Pros
Braded cord does not stick to sweaty skin during workout
Non-tangle cord
Passive sound isolation
Sits close to flush in the ear
Rotating earbud
Cons
Power button issue (see review for details)
Not as much bass as competitors
Overall I would recommend the Tarah Pro for anyone who wants a single pair of headphones that they can use for both phone calls/meetings and workouts.

Awesome Sports/Gym Earphones

Inside the box comes the Tarah Pro along with all its accessories neatly packaged. There is the usual paperwork, a nice carrying pouch, the proprietary charging attachment as well as 3 sizes of silicone ear tips, that are quite comfortable when inserted into your ears. They have a good snug fit and stay in your ears quite well during various activities.
The earphones appear to be well built and the materials seem quite durable and should last for quite a while especially since they are sweat/water resistant. They have a cloth-like material that seems to be carrying out double duty. The cloth reduces/eliminates the sticking to sweaty skin issue that plagues rubber material as well it contains reflective material that would assist in your visibility if you jog with these at night. Another addition is that the earphones are magnetic which allows them to stay safely connected around your neck but also once together they automatically pause your music playback. Another impressive point is that they are advertised as giving 14 hours of continuous music playback. In my personal test, I was able to squeeze out around 16 hours of use over a two day period before needing to be charged again.Impressive!
Soundwise these earphones deliver, just like Jaybird always has. I have the X3 and the Tarah pro has outdone it even without the the Jaybird companion app that allows you to mess around to your heart’s content with the equalizer. The sound isolation is pretty decent and you will still be able to barely hear your surroundings with no music playing. The Tarah’s microphone ( part of the in line remote) is not bad but it’s also not great, most of the times the voices comes through clearly but a big factor is where you position the remote. If you plan to be very active, most persons utilize the cord management system and end up placing the hub behind their ears therefore affecting how your voice travels to the microphone. You could forgo the that scene and instead bring it to the front of your face but then the chord would be dangling all over.
This is another solid entry from Jaybird and despite being aimed at the sports and fitness crowd this is a good pair of bluetooth earbuds for anyone.

I was in the market for workout headphones. I have tried so many headphones over the years. Over the ear, in hear, corded. These are really great headphones. No they are not truly wireless, but they are excellent headphones. Very comfortable, great sound quality (after custom eq), non stick braided cord, ipx7 waterproof grade. The charger is self proprietary magnetic snap. Sound quality is flat out of the box, you must download Jaybird app and find a preset that works for you, or with the new feature exclusive to tarah pro you can create your own eq setting based on your hearing. I only wished they would come with comply foam ear tips, which from what I understand comply is working on such product. I recommend you try all the ear gels to get the beast seal in your ear canal. You will not regret these as your workout headphones, and with 14 hour battery life (at 50% volume) these will be great for everyday. Unless you own multiple headphones. If you were just looking for just one. This is it.

The battery life is great and the quick charge, sound quality is amazing with the app. I like how The earbuds can rotate to change positions on wearing them under or over the ear. The downside to mine is the cover on remote is starting to peel off. And then he said it has Bluetooth 5.0, I wish the Runs would have it.

Best Workout Earbuds you can buy

These are the ideal workout earbuds in my mind and, as you can see from other reviews, in other minds as well. The sound is amazing (as expected at this price point), and the design is top-notch. The braided cord relaxes on your neck and feels like it's not even there. This is the biggest design improvement over previous Jaybird models. I've had X2's for over 5 years now and always hated how their cord had a mind of its own, flaring out from one side or the other. The earbuds also have a small notch that the silicon eartips go over, so there's absolutely no way for the tips to detach. I like how they made the fin and eartip all one piece. The portion of the earbud that the silicon tips go over actually rotate, which Jaybird calls SwitchFit. This allows the earbuds to be switched from an over-ear position to under-ear and vice versa without having to take the eartips off. Jaybird engineers should get a raise for all these improvements.
Other big improvements include the IPX7 rating and Bluetooth 5.0. For those that don't know, IPX7 means they can be put in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. So they'll have no problem in showers, saunas, steam rooms, or pools. And Bluetooth 5.0 allows for improved connection, connecting to 2 devices at once, and lower energy consumption. I imagine these have a physically bigger battery in them than other models, which is why the battery life is so good, but Bluetooth 5.0 certainly plays a part since it uses considerably less power than previous Bluetooth versions. I'd compare the connection reliability to AirPods, which is as good as a wireless connection can be. AirPods actually don't have Bluetooth 5.0 but contain Apple's W1 chip that allows for a fast and reliable connection to other Apple products that also have the chip.

I totally recommend these. The only cons are...
The charger attachment is super easy to detach without realizing and then you find out the hard way they are still dead. So do not count on them charging very well in a moving car with such a short charging cable.
The plastic "clip" broke fairly easily and now I can't only have one ear piece in without the other flopping around. Unless I'm wearing a shirt with a pocket.
Pros-
Hold a good charge.
Long listening time.
Sound great.
Snug fit.

Great Earbuds with One Very Unexpected Flaw
|
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
If it wasn't for one very unexpected design flaw, I would rate these at 4.5 stars.
My ideal headphones are small on the ear, have an immersive sound experience, minimal sound leakage (both in and out), are comfortable, have a long battery life, and at least decent bass (I know this is relative). These earbuds have all of these qualities.
FIT/COMFORT (5/5): Of the 3 models of Jaybirds I’ve owned, I’ve never had any complaint about fit or comfort. The new models fixed my only complaint of the X models, which was that the ear tips kept falling off. These earbuds have a one-piece ear tip and wing that fits perfectly and comfortably in my ear. I use these earbuds every day for multiple hours a day. Even at over 10 hours of continuous use I didn’t feel any in ear discomfort. I should note that there are only 3 size choices and some reviewers couldn't find a good fit.
SOUND (5/5): I am not a basshead, but I enjoy full and punchy bass. The default sound profile of these earbuds is quite flat, but that is by design. The ability to change the EQ to my liking or profiles shared by other people is one of the things I love the most about Jaybirds. Once you find the right ear tip fit and EQ of your liking, the sound is wonderful for this price point.
BATTERY (5/5): I’m not certain if I get a full 12 hours on these, but if not it's close. I’ve definitely listened for more than 10 hours on a single charge multiple times. On top of a long battery life, I absolutely love the new charging system. Instead of an awkward clip on thing that only works in one direction, these have a magnetic charger that works in either direction.
WORKOUTS (4/5): These earbuds have a very secure fit and don’t go anywhere no matter what I’m doing... but I’m not a fan of the extra length of cord hanging out on my neck whether or not I use the cinch piece. I would prefer something like the old system that secured all extra cordage up off of my neck. It is possible to cinch these higher up on my head so that the cord doesn’t dangle against my neck, but any bouncing motion causes the end of the cord to bounce against my neck or the back of my head which is very annoying. I can also twist and tuck the extra length uncomfortable inside the cinched area, but after some time it will slip out and start bouncing again.
CONSTRUCTION: Over all these earbuds appear to be quite ruggedly designed and should have a long life. Unfortunately, I haven’t owned a pair of these for more than about 3 months due to my one major negative below.
Minor negatives:
1. How they lay on my chest when not in use: These earbuds have magnetic backs, but this is made almost entirely useless because the earbuds do not rest back to back. While one earbud back faces the other earbud, the other earbud twists so the ear tip is facing the other. The rigidity of the cord causes uncomfortable twisting in order to touch the buds back to back. I call this a minor negative because I don’t really use this feature.
2. Call quality is horrible. This has been true with every Jaybird model I’ve owned. The people on the other end of my calls can barely hear me… as if I’m speaking from a great distance. While it would be nice to be able to take calls, I call this a minor negative because I really only use these earbuds for listening. This could easily be a major negative for someone else.
Major negative/flaw: The control unit rubber face peals away from the plastic casing.
- The X models have a solid plastic control unit with cutouts for the rubber buttons to pass through. This model has a solid rubber face where the buttons are. Within a month, one or more button areas of this rubber piece start to bubble up away from the button underneath. This gets worse and worse over time, making pressing the actual buttons difficult… and eventually the rubber starts to ripple and peel away from the control panel at the sides of all 3 buttons. Within two months I can pass the tip of a pencil under the rubber on either side of all 3 buttons.
- This flaw may be exacerbated by how much I use these. I wear these earbuds daily for several hours at a time. At first I thought maybe I was causing the issue by occasionally keeping the right earbud and control unit inside my shirt while only listening to the left earbud. So, for my 4th unit I didn’t put the earbuds inside my shirt at all. This issue still occurred, but instead of just 2-3 weeks to start bubbling, it took 4 weeks.
- I also thought that I might have had a defective unit. I have now used the Best Buy protection plan on these earbuds 4 times … I bought my original pair in Nov 2018 and as of this month (Aug 2019) I’m on my 5th pair. That’s how much I enjoy these earbuds. I'm sticking with these because I simply cannot find a different pair with comparable size, sound, and battery life.
Bottom Line: I love these earbuds, but if you get them make sure to get the protection plan and I solidly look forward to Jaybird’s next version of these bad boys.

Good & Useful

The Good: Battery, Charger, Magnets, Design, Sound, Comfort.
The Bad: Not 100% Secure, Length, Pop Sounds, Play / Stop Button hit/miss.
Is this the one for you? If money is no issue, sure only because of the amount of charge you can get and how fast it can charge it. Comfort good, nice colors. I would say the sound is a slight improvement, but the previous model did the job as well. If you don't really need this, I'd say the best option would be the last model or Plantronics.
My only issues with it is that it doesn't come already with a snap clip to put on your shirt, as there have been multiple times I have really FELT it wasn't on - like if I dropped it. That is not a good feeling at ALL, its an expensive feeling. The length is so short that I feel when the magnets are together, it's like wearing a choker - and as a male, just no man. There are also sometimes these pop sounds that I'm starting to notice occasionally. The stop / play button doesn't seem to work, leaving me to have to take my phone off to pause (I have to double check if I missed something in the manual)
Other then that, I would say these are only good on a sale, as the battery / charging is amazing and looks really neat with the magnets being a nice touch.
(I use these for work only - I need something to listen to podcasts for a long time and be able to still work the next day if I forget to charge them)

Great product, but just had a learning curve for me. I couldn't get these to stay in my ears during my first run. First tried the under ear method, then over ear. Also tried different sizes of earbuds, but no luck. After my run, I found that the "over ear" fit required me to rotate the earpiece itself, and once I did that, the fit was perfect. I also used the app to customize the sound, and these Tarah Pros are now pretty awesome. Really comfortable, and a really smart design to make these with a braided cord. No sticking of the typical rubber cord on my neck, or snagging of the cord on my shirt. They also went on sale, and the price guarantee saved me another $30, so this was a really good value for the quality. If you prefer your workout headphones to have the wire connection, these might be the best you can buy.

I bought these to use while running/biking and chose them over others due to the long battery life, cord style, water resistance and positive ratings/reviews. I've used them now on several long runs and bike rides connected to a Garmin Forerunner watch as well as a few times on walks with my dogs connected to my phone. The sheer lack of cut outs has been stunning as I came from another pair of Jaybirds that I had for 2 years and had cut outs constantly. They fit great and the battery life is incredible. The only reason I have had a few random issues with the headphones making a loud noise constantly to where I had to go plug them in as they were unresponsive while this was happening and to where they were connected to my watch but unresponsive to any of the controls on the headphones which is the only reason I rated 4 stars. I would still definitely recommended them.

I had these for almost a month and so far so good. They’re comfortable, easy to pair with my devices, the sound is very nice, battery life superb. This is not my first pair of Jaybird’s so I kind of knew what I was getting my self into, I have the X, X3 I still working and in use, and now the Tarah Pro. I also had the freedom but those died after just a month so I exchanged them for the X3. That’s the only bad one I had had from the brand but it scared me enough to still hold on to my receipt in case these die on me before the month or a little after. But so far I haohad any problems, no dropped connection no having to pair to devices over and over again. They have great sound when programming with the app, moves sound awesome. There’s just a couple of things that bother me a little but now enough to not recommend them because it’s not the headphones it’s me the problem. 1.- I have small ears and these are almost the size of my fingertips and round so after an hour of wearing them they star to hurt a little. 2.- Because the tips seal so good the volume it’s a little too loud for me, with theX3 I could lower to minimum and it was nice but with these the lower volume setting is still too loud (for me). So what I did is wear the smaller tip so I don’t get a complete seal. I know this sounds crazy because everyone wants a complete seal to make the sound laughter or deeper but not me I don’t like high volumes directly in my ear canal plus when am running I like to be aware of my surroundings. But if your are looking for great deep sounds, good battery life, ease to use and secure fitting then try these out. And if you find them on sale like I did even better.

Don't miss the BEST feature of these Buds, the Custom Equalizer via the "hearing test" style of setup.
Use the software on your phone ( that link to the buds) to create customized sound based on your actual HEARING.
The software runs you through a series of frequency tones like a hearing test and you use a slider bar to determine the level that you first hear each frequency.
These are the best sound quality I've ever found in workout headphones.
Other pros:
**The ear fins create a soft and comfortable fit.
(They looked odd to me in the pictures, but the shape makes them fit more 'softly'
**I liked the rope-style band texture during training ( as opposed to typical rubber). They move across my neck more easily and they don't have the occasional "stickiness" like the rubber ones.
**battery life is REALLY good. I've used them all day without needing to charge them. ( The company claims battery life is 14 hours, and I think that may be close to true )
cons:
***The charger is proprietary and is shaped to cradle that curved controller. There is no other way to charge them ( via usb, etc.), so if you are somewhere without your Tarah Pro charging cable, you are out of luck.
***How much battery is left? Did I charge them this week? Yeah, well the only well to tell is to power them on and the voice tells you the percentage left. Been using them most of the day and want to know how much battery is left? You'll need to power them off and then power them back on. Yeah, I know. First World problems.

These earbuds are excellent. Customizable sound profiles via the Jaybird app. I have several different bluetooth headphones and earbuds. These are probably my favorite. They are very comfortable while wearing them, even for long periods of time. The way the earbuds are designed they are able to get a tight seal in your ear canal so that they sound good. There is no sound leakage while wearing these. I have had these on while shopping in crowded stores while talking on the phone and the other party is able to hear me just fine. They do a good job of blocking out a lot of the noise around you so that the other party can you hear you clearly. I would recommend these if you are an avid runner or need something to wear while working out at the gym. I don't really care for the true wireless earbuds because most of the true wireless one's either don't have a good fit and are more prone to falling out of your ears, or they have sound leakage so they don't sound as good. My only complaint about the Tarah Pro's are the price. They definitely aren't cheap. But in this case I didn't mind paying more money to have a good sounding pair of earbuds that are just good all around earbuds for most uses. Highly recommended.

Bought with GeekSquad Protection. As far as fit and sound goes they are about as good as the previous X3's I had. Battery life at first wasn't great but then i read around on a forum that it must be charged to full then decharged completely and repeat 3 times. So far after doing this seems to have worked. As far as comfort they are pretty nice, I like the piece that protrudes from the earphone and hides sleekly into the gel earbud holding it into place and preventing loss. Quality of wire is really good and sturdy which is what I bought these for as my previous 2 pairs of Jaybird X's would get worn out in the area where the volume control is at. Sound is good if you like the X3's these will be fine make sure to use the Jaybird app to create a custom equalizer if you want more base, clarity. I use these for my daily runs and aren't heavy or bounce everywhere. Volume levels and sound canceling is really excellent, can go really low and really high if you are in high noise areas. Would recommend to any looking to buy wireless earbuds with good battery life+ aesthetics + sound. If any questions feel free to ask. :)

The jaybird tarah pros exceeded my expectations in every way. First, and most importantly, fit. Jaybird has perfected these things staying in your ears. None of the numerous others stayed in my ears without falling out or constantly needing to be adjusted. This includes while working out, heavily chewing gum and being upside down.
They sound great for the size, especially when you customize them with the EQ. Battery life is great. I get 10-13 hours on a full charge. Connectivity is flawless. And they are durable. If your phone has Bluetooth 5.0, buy these over any others!
They are pretty waterproof too. None of the others are this waterproof. A durable nylon cable makes them tough.
Absolutely a great purchase. My one con against these is the proprietary charger. Other than that. A great purchase!!!

Previous Jaybird customer with X1s and a pair of X2s. Always used the Comply foam tips with both. Also have recently tried the Jabra Elite Active 65t. Could not get a good fit with the Jabras and lost both the left and right over two months. Even with foam tips they would fall out and bounce on the pavement or down a drain which brought me back to Jaybird. No more complete wireless for me unless they have some type of ear piece to help hold them inI was going to buy the Tarahs when I saw the Pro model. For $60 more I could forget to charge these all week and still have enough juice for the weekend. So ordered from Best Buy and used them the other day. Absolutely great. I did the custom EQ and the sound is fantastic. I have never been a fan of the silicon ear pieces until now. This is a new design by Jaybird and it works great. One piece rather than two. It was no effort to place then on my ear and I had a good seal. I never had to adjust them once for an hour run. Felt so good I left them in while I worked around the house for a couple of hours. I have been a fan of Comply tips for a few years now but even if they come out with one for these I am not sure I would switch. This new ear piece design is that good. About the only con I have is the proprietary magnetic charger. Hopefully they release replacement cables soon as I would really like to have a spare.

It's amazing. I also own the jaybird freedoms and these are by far a great upgrade. the battery life lasts for longer periods so i don't have to charge it frequently. the range is great as well when paired with a BT 5.0 device (i'm using the pixel 2).
pros:
- great battery life
- great sound quality
- magnet keeps them nicely tied when not in use (and pauses the music as well)
- easy to switch from over ear to under ear configuration
- can be comfy in the ear for long term wearing *
*note that this is only if you're able to find the exact fit that works for your ears
cons
- the adjustable tie is good, but comes out easily
- sometimes it's hard to find the best fit in your ear
- proprietary charger
- pairing between two devices isn't as seamless as other jaybird devices. this one is only active with one device at a time (unless i'm missing something) and you have to pull out your phone if you're switching from laptop/tablet to phone to connect them.

This is an amazing item, it is a REAL waterproof item, I did my laundry with headphones in it by mistake and they are still working after 2 years. The base/sound is very good for being so small. BATERY last like 10 hours, I go to the gym like 6 times a week for 2 hours every day, I do a lot of cardio, and when you sweat you want your headphones to as small as they can be. I use it with my android phone and is easy to pair, it pairs with my car as soon as get in my car (not that I wear my headphones while I drive), Im very happy with these, my next purchase will be with no cable, I wear the cable on top of my pony tail so it dont bother me but without the cable would have more freedom of movement.

These headphones have everything that I have been looking for in a pair of headphones to workout in. They have a very comfortable and secure fit. I have had these for 2 months and can count on one hand how many times I had to push them back in or adjust them. I work out 6 days a week and have never had a pair of headphones that stood up to the amount of use I put them to for very long. I sweat a lot. This has caused many of my headphones in the past to short out in one of the buds. These have an IPX7 waterproof rating and stand up to my longest and most intense workouts. The battery life and quick charge are amazing. Even if you forget to charge them, and they are dead, a 5-10 minute charge will last you for a good workout session. The raised controls are easy to decipher. I wish they would be just a bit louder, but they do cut out a lot of noise (the only reason I could not give them 5 stars). The cord is durable and does not stick to you when you are sweating. If you are looking for a secure fit for headphones and great sound with battery life to match, these are your pair of next headphones. The personal app is an added bonus that keeps the setting on all devices you pair with until you change it.

These headphones are great. The sound is great, the quality is great, the price is not too bad and overall they are super easy and comfortable to use. I had the Bose wireless headphones and when they got damaged, I decided to try these ones, and I definitely made the right choice. Using these headphones for a long period of time (when I do my long distance runs) does not bother my hears. They feel comfortable the entire time. I like the way you could wrap them over you eat which makes them more secure when your running. I also like that you don’t even feel them bounce as your running since you could adjust them. Overall, one of the best headphones I’ve purchased and as of right now my favorite ones.
