amazing little vacuum that needs very little help keeping it running. it tells you when it needs new parts and the mapping of the house or where it cleans is amazing you can schedule where and what time you want it to clean and team it up with the m6 mop and your house will stay clean

This robot vacuum cleans well ands does an incredible job mapping rooms. It works very well with Google Assistant voice control. If you own a Roomba mopping robot you can instruct Google to vacuum and and then mop a room all in one command. The automatic dirt disposal works very well The only negative I have found (other than the high price) is the noise level and that's why I gave it 4 stars not 5 stars. This noise level isn't associated so much with the sound of vacuum suction, but the noise of the motor itself.

Really good robot!I have 3 and this is the best one by far! The corner and edge cleaning:is what set this apart. Love it! One complaint is the volume. The s9+ is louder than some other models, particularly on high-suction modes. However, this trade-off is acceptable considering its cleaning performance.

We watched and read all the reviews and decided to spend the huge amount of money for the s9+. Honestly we loved how well it cleaned. Well when it cleaned. It kept getting caught up in one thing an another. This really makes you clean up your floors and remove obstacles that honestly we should have already been picking up. But it never quite finished any job and sometimes got lost and couldn't find its way back home to the charging base. We were two days away from our return date and were really thinking about returning it, especially considering the price. But I kept reading about how you may have to delete the maps it creates over and over until you get a good one. Well the last two days were spent running this thing almost continually, deleting maps and letting it start again. We finally got an accurate map (well except for the hallway that seems to extend about 100 feet into the woods). But it was good enough. By being able to add keep out zones I was able to exclude the unexplainable hallway and a few other areas that seem to keep the vacuum occupied for way longer than necessary (like behind recliners and beside night stands). With the now good maps it runs like a champ. We can tell it to clean just some rooms or all of them. No complaints at all now. I'm so glad we keep trying.
To sum it up: Buy it, train it like a pet, and then you will have man/woman's best friend. It is well worth having. Now if the price was a little lower or it could climb steps and vacuum them, then, well, I'd pay even more!

Outstanding Mapping Technology

I'm in love with this S9 mainly because of the mapping technology. This is my 2nd Roomba as I used the 960 for several years and it was still going strong before I started reading about iRobot's new mapping control in the app. I was tired of moving things or blocking off certain areas that I didn't want the Roomba in so with the S9 I no longer have to worry about that. I sent the Roomba on 2 mapping runs and 2 full cleaning cycles before assigning room names and borders in the app. It does exactly what it says it will, you can send it to one room in the app and it will clean just that room staying within the borders set in the app. I have mostly wood floors and it does a great job cleaning. It is rather pricey even when on sale so if that is a deal breaker for you then check out the J7+ which also has the mapping feature and is great for pet owners avoiding obstacles with its on board camera. This S9+ is game changer for me with the in app control it gives you, now I just hope it holds up for years to come. I'm not sure how iRobot will make a better vacuum but I'm sure they'll find a way. I'm very impressed!

4 stars because there is a manufacturing defect that causes it to die. We had 2 replacements which the manufacturer acknowledged. Apart from that one issue this works very well. The suction is amazing and you never have to worry about vacuuming again. Interactive maps are amazing and the detail of cleaning surprised me. Will never have to vacuum again. Do get a protection plan with this one so you don't have to worry about repairs / replacements.

Pros:
Great suction, can send to one room at a time, don't have to empty after every job. Fix the software and it will be 5 stars.
Cons:
Very expensive, software needs to be fixed, you have to reboot it daily to keep it from slamming into things and allowing it to find the room you sent it to. Light rugs are a problem, have to double sided tape or velcro them down.

This Roomba is easy to use, and it cleans carpet/vinyl floors effectively. I just set it and forget it. It will let you know when there’s an issue, when you have to empty the bin, and when the brushes need to be cleaned. It’s the best tool I’ve ever purchased. It’s pricey but worth every dollar.

We loved how easy the Roomba was to setup and use. It has mapped the whole house in two runs. I am amazed at how it can clean under the dinning room table and around the chairs. I like the way the mapping is designed. It was easy to divide the map into zones for specific cleaning. The app is easy to use from your phone. It cannot do the whole house in one charge.

Love this robot vac! I had an old wifi Roomba for several years and when it died I decided to upgrade to a heavier duty self emptying version. I have a German shepherd that sheds and this thing keeps up! I am looking at buying a second one for my other floor. It will allow you to map different levels of your home but I don't want to have to move it around. You can have multiple schedules set too. It will also allow you to only clean certain areas of a room. You can truly map your floor. I have used it on my main floor which is hardwood and it works great. My main use is my carpeted family room floor and it does an Amazing job keeping up with everything. I named him Henry.

Upgraded to the I9 this year. What an absolute cleaning machine. Multi cleaning settings, improved motor and design. With 3 dogs at the house , we set ours to run twice daily. Shedding is tackled without problem. I come home from work to a clean floor. A must for a busy family.

Puts the SMART in Robot Vac's

This vac is simple to set up, with an app that's completely user-intuitive for anyone.
After it's charged and had its software updated, you hit the clean button and that's it.
Let it run a few cleaning routines (while you are watching it in amazement) and it maps your floor plan and furniture/obstacles for you. The maps can be easily modified by adding or moving room dividers and establishing 'keep out' areas.
Once the maps are created you can choose to have the bot clean only select room(s), or all rooms.
The vacuum is super powerful and cleans thoroughly on the heavy cleaning setting. The heavy cleaning setting does reduce battery run-time to about an hour and makes it a bit noisier but still quieter than an upright vacuum.
It easily navigates from carpet to hardwood, adjusting the vac to the appropriate height for the type of floor covering. It does the same as it navigates from hardwood flooring to area rugs.
When the battery gets low, or the dustbin gets full, it automatically returns to the base to charge or empty and then resumes cleaning once it's re-charged or emptied.
The auto empty makes this robot vac basically hands-free. Set it up and then let it do the work.

Glad i read reviews and paid the extra money

I read a lot of reviews from owners of older models. They highly recommended paying the extra money. It does a great job. Better than I expected. It gets under the beds and couch which is great. It transitions between carpet rugs and hardwood floors easily. Just make sure you pick stuff off the floor. It found a sock under rhe bed which caused it to jam. The two downfalls: you must let it build a full smart map first. I thought i could just let it start to vacuum and it could add to the map, but it would never go beyond the first map and would not append to if. Even trying to get it to do a smart map wouldn’t add to it. It spent 2 hours scanning the entire house only to toss it. I had to delete the existing partial map and have it build it all from scratch. Other than that, it does a great job cleaning the floors and going back when it needs to empty itself or charge uo if job is bigger than battery. Well worth it to me

I will start by saying that I live with a Japanse Akita dog.
Awesome dog but twice a year during the shedding period, I get 1+1 free! I get another dog daily in the amount of fur !
If only I could show you before and after that Roomba:
Before:
I was hand vacuuming the house once per day, and by the middle of the day, the floors were full of hair, hair everywhere as if they had been accumulated over 5 years!
After:
The Roomba s9 gets every single hair from the floor, as well as anything else, and she is vacuuming twice per day during the shedding period and once a day during normal times.
Both me and the dog are leaving the room that the Roomba is cleaning, due to the noise.
Powerful, Noisy, Monster: but when it's done... you tell yourself how well did you do that you bought it.
I prefer the noise but the perfect result, than a quiet one which doesn't pick everything up from the floor....
I live on a flat apartment, no carpets, no uneven surfaces, (although it can jump on slightly uneven surfaces) so if you have stairs, etc.. I am not sure how it will do.

If comparing against Neato or other brands, this would still be a 4/5 star product. However, I rate it 3 because it takes a few steps backwards from previous generation Roombas, on certain aspects. I own a roomba 980, and it’s clear the build quality is significantly lower. It is also extremely loud compared to any other robot vacuum I’ve owned or seen. Due to a flaw in design, if the floor is slightly uneven, it makes a loud grinding noise. I reached out to support, and they quickly sent a replacement cleaning head. After replacing it, it ran slightly quieter for a really short run, but then proceeded to make the grinding noise. We can’t be in the same room or even in an adjacent room while it’s cleaning because it’s so loud. Another issue is there’s no option for reusable bags, so you’re forced to throw away the bag, which is a huge waste. Aside from that, this product is pretty amazing, it’s never gotten stuck, really cleans better than any other robot vacuum I’ve encountered, and almost never needs to be emptied (I still haven’t needed to empty it and we’re getting close to two months)

The vac cleans large areas. Picks up tons of pet hair, having 11cats, it’s like having a maid. It’s a little noisey but I think all the vacs are. The ability to connect to WiFi works great. Set up was easy. Having the ability for vac to empty debris helps a lot. The price is high, but you have to weigh your options.

I have both the iroomba S9+ and the Iroomba S7. Bought both within 6 months of each other.
The 9 is more powerful then the 7. It also is more thorough. Although I have hardwood floors now, I felt the last series I had, 800s actually sucked up more and more completely. My complaint with the 7 was that I felt it left behind dirt. It functions better when I made it do two passes before checking that a room as cleaned. With the 9 I feel it cleans more thoroughly HOWEVER both have the same deficiency, both tend to leave debris around the base. I don’t know if it’s because roomba is concentration on getting on the docking station over vacuuming or if it actually stops vacuuming when trying to dock, but there is debris that will never get cleaned around the base.
Also note the docking station is not interchangeable with the 7&9 because both are uniquely different.
Both automatic emptying station are very loud when emptying but that does not bother my household. I found 7 had a hard time to dock automatically but I have no issues with the 9 as of yet. Except at initial set up see below.
Phone and Alexa control is an extreme improvement and Valuable tool. Alexa can run both iroomba sand distinguish between them.
Initial set up I had to call the company due to charging issues and customer service was very helpful. Simple battery fix.

We really like it! Mapping is really useful. And you can keep it away from things you don’t want to be bumped. It cleans well. It lasts pretty long before recharging. We mostly clean by individual rooms - not just the whole house - which is long.
