Customers are positive about the Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Grill's ease of use, multi-functionality, and the air fryer feature. They appreciate that it is simple to operate and clean, and that it allows them to cook a variety of foods with little to no smoke. However, some customers find the appliance to be on the heavy side and wish the air fryer had a larger capacity. Cleaning it can also be a bit of a chore.

So far I'm satisfied with the Foodi Grill. It does a great job when I grill fajitas. I have noticed some chipping. I'm guessing from the utensils I've used or the cleaning but it doesnt bother me much. The cleans easily and the device itself doesnt take up much counter space.

Winter is coming! Extend your grilling season.

I live in the Midwest where the winters can get long, and I love grilling hotdogs and burgers outside during the summer. I knew there were indoor grills in the market but this Ninja Foodi grill piqued my interest as its more than just a grill. It’s also an air fryer, roaster, baker and dehydrator.
Pros:
• Nice work on searing
• Heavy duty nonstick coating
• Low profile and can fit underneath cabinets
• Includes a robust and inspirational cookbook
Cons:
• Large footprint as it takes extra space to fully open lid
• Cleaning can be a chore
• Not 100% smokeless
First and foremost, it’s a glorified air fryer that also “grills”. The heating element is on top and heat is pushed down via a fan...like an air fryer. It’s the different inserts that converts this air fryer to different cooking methods. The grill insert is heavy with raised grooves that helps lift the food up and allows air to hit the bottom of your food for a more even cook. I tested the grill feature with brats, burgers and corn and it exceeds all my expectations. The long winters will be much bearable now that I can have the same grilled taste from this indoor grill. Burgers, both frozen and fresh patties, came out caramelized and juicy. It does have nontraditional grill lines due to the design of the grate but who cares if it tastes great. Corn came out perfectly grilled and a tad faster than cooking outside on a real grill.
The air fry option did a wonderful job at air frying. It doesn’t do a better or worse job than my stand-alone air fryer unit and does require you to use oven mitts to remove the fry basket. I wish it had some kind of handle that you could clip on so you can just “dump” your fried foods onto a plate when done.
One caveat I would like to mention is that the grill is not 100% smokeless and requires you to wash all parts before each use. The manual mentions that its related to oil smoke points. Which makes sense but the rendered fat from burgers, brats, etc still drips and sizzles and causes smoke to come out. Especially when you open the lid to retrieve your food. Sometimes my smoke alarm goes off when I open the lid to grab my seared burgers so make sure you’re ready for that “alarming” experience.
I do recommend this Foodi if you’re looking for an indoor grill that also does air frying. Just don’t expect the unit to be smokeless.

My new favorite appliance...and obsession

I've owned a lot of "indoor, smoke free, nonstick" grills over my lifetime. Most were much more hype than result, often falling well short of expectations.
This grill is another story. Right out of the box, I went right at it. Grilled lamb, chicken breasts, burgers, and pork chops. I do a lot of meal prepping, so it's very helpful to be able to cook in batches. This grill has cut my time prepping in half.
The grill does indeed sear, and all the drippings fall directly into the pan below. The grill plate can be tricky to completely clean because of the grooves, but the included brush helps.
As for the other features, I have only tried the air crisping feature. It works great. I would even say it crisps better than my Cuisinart air fryer, in terms of texture. The only downside is the time can be daunting at first glance. There is a pre-heat timer, and then actual cooking time. Luckily, all of my tests on the crisper cooked a bit faster than the directions noted, so we were snacking in no time. This included crinkle cut fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots and chicken nuggets. All turned out fantastic.
Mentioned before, but I want to reiterate, cleaning is relatively simple and easy. the drippings pan rinsing out with little effort.
Also, as claimed, I have yet to notice any smoke which is unbelievable when you see how much "mileage" I've been putting on it.
My next challenge will be corn on the cob. Can't wait. I also will be purchasing the other accessories to try dehydrating and the griddle.
The only negative I have is that if you are doing batches, and allow the grill to turn off for even just 2 minutes, you may have to go through another pre-heating cycle. Not detrimental, but can be irritating at times. Also, to add on to timer, I wish it had a midway alarm. Some meats require you to flip during cooking. So far, I haven't noticed a setting where I can be warned halfway during time, so I just set an alarm through Google. There may be a setting, but I haven't discovered it yet.
Other than that, what a great grill! Definitely recommend to those who ove grilled foods without all the setup/breakdown hassle.

As newly empty nested, we were looking for a way to conveniently cook meals without the hassle of firing up the grill for 2 pieces of meat, or preheating the entire oven just for a couple slices of garlic bread, or digging out the greasy old Fry Daddy to make french fries. The Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 has been the perfect took to keep us cooking at home rather than dining out every night now that we only have to cook for two.
Grilled meats (specifically chicken and pork medallions) cooked up in no time and retained the the same flavor and searing you would expect from the grill--but without the effort of setting foot outside. The cookbook/tips sheet was very helpful and nearly spot on with cooking recommendations, although we found we could shorten our cooking times by about 10%.
We have used the dehydrator to successfully dehydrate homegrown hops.
I was skeptical of the air fryer but it made fantastic french fries from frozen, bagged "extra crispy" advertised spuds. Again, very simple to select our setting and walk away. In the future, however, we will trim a little time off our french fry timer just as we would for the meats.
We also tried the bake feature by baking a tube of cinnamon rolls. This was our only "failure" to date. The rolls looked done (see picture) when the timer went off but the underside was underdone leaving a much doughier than normal roll. We likely needed an extra 3-4 minutes--but that might have burned the tops. Regardless, we continue to learn and love the device.
The cooker has not given off any smoke but they warn to stay away from oils--specifically olive oil. One drawback from the Ninja advertising photos: It is tough to cook multiple foods at once because often different items (meat vs. vegetable, for example) need different settings. Nonetheless, I would recommend the product ESPECIALLY to someone who only needs to cook for him/herself/couple rather than a large family. This device is easy to use and clean, cooks well, comes with great cooking/recipe instructions, and stores nicely.

Ninja products always well made

One thing I can always say, well okay , maybe two. Ninja products are always well made, but they are always big and heavy. This is true of the Grill. This is meant to replace a tabletop grill/griddle that I have enjoyed. My plan was to move the old grill out of my cabinet and put the Ninja in it’s place. Nope, the Ninja will not fit. Too big, and more importantly, too heavy to lift. Okay, so the Ninja is an air fryer, as well as a grill. So it will take the place of the Ninja Foodi that sits on my counter. I rarely use the pressure cooker function and I have slow cookers that I can use in its place. The Foodi moved to a lower cabinet. The first thing we cooked were French fries in the air fryer. They browned beautifully and cooked perfectly. The book recommends shaking the basket to get the fries evenly browned. No don’t do that. The basket sits firmly inside the griller and I found it difficult to get to. I burned the back of my fingers, so I will opt to use a wooden fork. Be sure to read the directions to fit the pieces in the griller. There is a “pot” that fits inside the griller and to air fry another pot fits inside that pot. After my fries were cooked, we grilled a beautiful ribeye steak. I removed the air fry “pot” and inserted the extremely heavy grill plate, used the touch pad to select the grill function, temp and time. They recommend that you turn the steak a few time to ensure even cooking and of course you have to flip it to cook both sides. My old grill cooked both sides at once, albeit not as evenly. The steak turned out perfectly. The grill marks were much better than my old grill. I should also mention that each time you open the grill to flip a steak or stir fries, the timer stops and restarts when you close the lid. I found that I had to reduce the recommended cook times since I like my steak rare and the French fries browned quickly. Also I forgot to mention that the grill preheats after you program your cook time/temp/method. It seemed to take a while and you aren’t supposed to put your food in till it shows “food” on the touch panel menu. Our food cooked perfectly. I did have a hard time keeping the fries warm while we waited for the steak to preheat and cook. Cleanup is cumbersome. You have to wash that inner pot, the air fryer basket and the grill plate. My dishwasher is tiny, so the only thing I could put in it was the grill plate and it took up a lot of space. Hand washing the grill plate didn’t work because I couldn’t get between the grill ridges. The good news is that all of the pieces are nonstick. This thing cooked two great meals, pork chops were the next day. It was easy to use and grill cooks better than my other grill by a good bit. Clean up was a bit annoying because of the inner pot that is required no matter what method of cooking you use. All in all, if you have counter space this is a great grill and the air fryer worked great as well. Have not tried the dehydrator but might think about trying some of the fruit recipes in the cookbook.

==== Design & Build ====
The Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 grill is a well-built cooking machine that looks sleek and is very easy to operate. All the buttons are well-lit, easy to read, and button operations are responsive with no lag.
When you first select a cooking function, the machine will pre-select a temperature for you. Depending on what you're cooking and the weight/amount of the food item, you just increase or lower the cooking temperature and time using the Up and Down arrow buttons. Then just press the Start/Stop button and wait until it chimes to let you know that the cooking has finished. So simple and easy.
Build quality and materials are impeccable and the machine is also ergonomically designed for easy handling. It is kind of heavy but my petite wifey who weighs around 105 lbs had no problem lifting it up onto our dining room table.
Cleanup is also easy as well. Thanks to its coating and the included brush, all the food matter collected on the grill and the pot underneath wash off easily. Just don't use abrasive sponges.
The Foodi 5-in-1 grill is an handsome addition to our kitchen.
==== Performance ====
This thing can cook! Out of the four functions offered, we found ourselves using the Grill and Air Crisp functions the most. The Grill function was used to cook up some New York Strip steaks as well as some thin-cut Korean beef brisket meat. The Air Crisp function was used to make some curly french fries.
In both scenarios, the food came out perfectly and tasted wonderful. To our great surprise, there was no perceptible smoke coming out of the machine, just heat waves. Whatever technology is being used, it is wonderful that smoke can be filtered out like that.
Another touted feature, the "Cyclonic" air circulation, also performed well and as advertised. The meat was evenly cooked on both sides to our satisfaction. You should still flip the steak over but it isn't as critical and necessary thanks to the Cyclonic heat circulation.
The grill comes with a very useful user manual that contain charts and diagrams that list suggested cooking temperatures and times for different types of food as well as how to use the different functions of the 5-in-1 (e.g., Grill, Air Crisp, Roast, Bake, and Dehydrate).
With such a short prep time, easy handling, and excellent cooking performance, the Ninja 5-in-1 is a true jack of all trades.
==== My Take ====
For ~$230, the Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 indoor grill is a fantastic value proposition. Ninja has crafted a modern and cool-looking machine that operates easily, clean up easily, and most importantly, cooks everything so well in a consistent and predictable fashion. I can't give this thing anything other than 5 Stars!

Perfect for Indoor Grilling!

I already have a Ninja Air Fryer/pressure cooker all in one that works wonderfully, but I was extremely interested in the indoor grilling aspect of this product. I love grilling, and I grill a lot, but sometimes, it's rainy, and I really need/want to grill some food. This is the perfect solution. I was able to grill some salmon easily and perfectly. The best part, virtually no smoke. I used the recommended oil, canola, sprinkled some lemon pepper and garlic, and let the grill do it's thing. I also did some hamburgers, which were cooked perfectly, but kind of turned into big meatballs. I'm not sure what happened there. I used a patty press to make some 5.5 oz patties. They started out nice and flat, but came out looking like balls. Maybe all the air? The booklet that comes with this is extremely helpful for figuring out temps and cooking time. It also comes with a lot of recipies to tryout. I look forward to grilling many other things.
Things I like:
1.) Easy to setup.
2.) Easy to clean.
3.) Included recipe booklet with cooking chart.
Things I didn't like:
1.) Small grilling surface.
2.) Burgers come out like meatballs.

This is probably my third or fourth Ninja small appliance and I am definitely a fan. The grill has a relatively small footprint compared to another indoor grill that I have, but this one is pretty much plug it in, set the temp, put on the food and set the timer. Easy as pie.
The grill came with a recipe book so i paged through it and found a burger recipe. I added my own seasonings, but i pretty much followed the directions for the cook time. I knew that I liked my burgers cooked through a bit more, so i put the timer on for 11 minutes. My kids love "baby burgers" so i made them slider size and was able to put all six in at once.
They turned out pretty good, but i had to cook them through a little longer. There is a learning curve to determine how long you need to cook food to reach optimal temperature. I placed the buns in for a minute and they were nice and toasty, but not burned. You can see from the photos how everything turned out.
I really liked the timer stop feature. When you lift the lid to check the food, the timer automatically stops until its closed again. There was also no need to flip the burgers because the grill cooks all around. It cooks fast and there was very little, if any smoke which was great. Next I'm going to make some teriyaki wings and see how they turn out. I'm a gadget guy and anything that i can use to speed up my cook time and minimize my mess, I'm all for. This will be a staple in my kitchen, at least when i cook!

Got this for my husband for Christmas. We've used it almost everyday since. Really happy with my purchase. I like that it's not just an airfryer and grills as well. It is a bit bulky and takes a good amount of counter space. Preheating takes a few minutes, but not too bad at all. I love that its easy to clean and parts can go in the dishwasher. Everything we've made in it takes less time than other methods of cooking. Perfect for quickly serving my hungry kids! My 10 year old son cooks pizza rolls in it with limited supervision!

My husband and I love our Ninja Foodi Grill! We usually only eat fast food, frozen meals or canned goods and wanted to try to start cooking some of our meals. We took this out of the box about 2 weeks ago and have used it almost every day since.
Foods Made:
* Grilled - tri-tip, New York steak, pork belly and bacon
* Air fried - fish sticks, frozen burritos, lumpias and french fries
Pros:
* Every single thing we have made has been delicious, the air fried items especially blew us away
* Cooking is so fast, we grilled a 2 1/2 pound tri-tip in 20 minutes
* Cleaning could not be easier - the grill, fry basket and baking pan can all be put in the dishwasher or easily washed by hand
* Super easy to use - turn on, select cooking option, select time and start - once it’s preheated it tells you to add food and starts the countdown timer for you
* Preheat status bar (for impatient people like us that want to know how much longer until you can add the food)
* Perfect size for a household of two
Cons:
* It takes up quite a bit of space on the counter and needs to be pulled out from under the cabinet when in use due to the lid opening - it’s not a bother at all, but is the only thing I could think of for a potential con
I’ve been telling all of my friends about this amazing new appliance. It has far exceeded my expectations and I can’t recommend it enough. So happy we got it!

I absolutely love this air fryer. Peel a potato, mix the pieces in a little olive oil and airfry- delicious!! I make steaks, salmon, veggies- all great. I make hot dogs, then the last 1-2 minutes I spray the buns with a Pam type of olive oil spray and put them in, flip halfway. Perfectly toasted. Frozen crabcakes, veggie burgers and nuggets- all good. You don't have to stay in the kitchen waiting and watching a pan. Set the timesr and walk away. I use it nearly every day.
