My favorite keyboard. Works well with Linux too, just setup custom colors and macros to onboard memory slots M1-M3 through a Windows device and you're good to go. Sucks that Logitech replaced braided cables with plain plastic. My 2020 G815 has a braided cable.

So I’m a streamer on twitch and I have a fancy condenser mic with all kinds of filters on it to hide the sound of my old keyboard which keep in mind, was quiet and tactile Mx cherry browns, And I had complaints about the clicky sounds. This keyboard is GL Clicky but it is STILL quieter than the old one. It has flush laptop like keys and have the quietest click to them. Super satisfying to game and type an essay on. Best purchase and have no regrets. 11/10. Customization is amazing as well. Do not even think twice about this purchase. This IS what the pros use and now I know why.

Logitech G815 - Good, but not perfect

Alt key is too small. As a gamer, we don't enjoy accidentally hitting the windows key (which is next to the small Alt key), booting us from the game. Usually I wouldn't harp too much on the Alt/Windows key but this is marketed as a gaming keyboard. Very quiet keys, though. It's a joy to type on. Bit on the pricey side.

    The Gaming Keyboard Reimagined

I'm usually one to laugh at premium-priced gaming accessories, especially keyboards. But Logitech's new G815 wired keyboard is hard to resist for any PC enthusiast. It's sleek, incredibly thin, solidly built, and has one of the most satisfying key switches I've ever used. === DESIGN & COMFORT (4.5 Stars) === - The G815 has a brushed-metal, charcoal-grey finish atop a solid plastic body. The keyboard is unbelievably thin -- less than 1 inch thick -- and is a welcome addition to my minimalist desk. - All of your standard gaming keyboard keys are here: a column of macro keys on the far left; three dedicated profile keys at the top; a backlight brightness key; and a key to enable Game Mode (which disables certain unneeded keys for gaming). - I'm a huge fan of the dedicated media key section at the top-right corner of the keyboard. The volume roller allows for precise volume control and the Play, Pause, Skip, and Mute keys seem to work with all of my media programs like VLC and Media Player Classic. - There are feet to increase the height and angle of the keyboard, but they only have one setting, leaving the keyboard fairly flat on my desk. There are times when I like to have my keyboard at more of an angle, so this is a small disappointment. - To achieve this design, Logitech had to sacrifice a wrist wrest for both the G815 and the wireless G915. I think it's a minor sacrifice in the grand scheme of things, but it's worth noting. === GL CLICKY SWITCHES & KEYS (5 Stars) === - The GL Clicky switches feature an audible click and satisfying, tactile feedback as it reaches its actuation point of 1.5mm. At half the height of standard mechanical switches, the GL switches have a 25% faster actuation time. - The low profile of the keyboard and keys themselves makes it easy to type for long hours without tiring your fingers. - The keys themselves seem a bit more compact than larger keyboards, and the key caps may even be smaller than I'm used to. I find myself sometimes hitting adjacent keys more than I usually would, but I seem to be adjusting pretty quickly. - I've played Doom (2016) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider for several hours each with the G815. It's certainly the most responsive and comfortble keyboard I've gamed with. The low-profile switches definitely help register important keys quickly and repeatedly with minimal spring-back. - Typing on the G815 with the GL Clicky switches is an experience that can't be properly conveyed with words. You need to try this out for yourself to really get a feel for just how comfortable and satisfying it is. === CUSTOMIZATION & FEATURES (4 Stars) === - The keyboard is controlled and customized through Logitech's G Hub software. There are dozens of pre-programmed RGB effects such as color wave, ripples, ocean waves, starry night and more. The RGB lighting is insanely customizable -- you can use the color brush tool to change the exact color of every key. - Unlike some gaming keyboards, not every key on the G815 can be customized. You're limited to the five macro keys across three macro profiles, so 15 macros in total. - You can customize which keys will be disabled during Game Mode, such as disabling the Windows key to avoid pausing or exiting the game. - Unfortunately, my keyboard has lost its connection to the G Hub software a few times since I received it. When this happens, my RGB and macro settings disappear until I either restart my computer or force-kill the G Hub app. I'm not sure what causes this, but I'm hoping it will improve with future software updates. - The G815 has a USB port at the top, which is great for quickly connecting flash drives or charging devices. === OVERALL (5 Stars) === Setting aside the price, this has to be the best wired gaming keyboard on the market. Logitech has carefully reimagined and redesigned every aspect of its flagship keyboard lineup resulting in a beautiful design and incredible performance. I honestly can't think of anything else I would want in a keyboard. If you're trying to choose between the wired G815 and the wireless G915, keep in mind that the keyboards are identical except for the wireless connectivity. I chose the G815 since my keyboard is always in one spot and I already have enough devices that need to be charged. It's hard to ignore the hefty price. There are wired keyboards available for well under $100 with most of the same customization features. The G815 is absolutely a luxury keyboard -- and if you're serious about your gaming setup and having the best of the best, then this is the keyboard you want.

Purchased this keyboard yesterday to replace my Logitech G413. I was running into issues with my H key sticking and being unresponsive almost right out of the box with the G413. I returned it a week after buying and went to pick up the G815. I haven't had it for very long, so I won't be able to give the best review, but from the first 2 days of using it, this is the best keyboard I have ever used. I've had many keyboards, from logitech, to off name brands, to Microsoft to Roccat. This keyboard handsdown is the nicest keyboard I have ever owned. The response time is rediculous. I have the "clicky" keys version and have to say, the sound it makes when you are typing is so satisfying, its addictive to type on! The weoght of the keyboard is really nice, considering the keyboard itself has such a slim profile. I like how there is a passthrough USB port which allows for someone to plug in a mouse or other device right into the keyboard. The volume control bar is very smooth and responsive as well. The RGB is very nice, and compared to my previous Roccat Magma and G413, this is definitely an upgrade. The keyboard looks so good too, honestly, I have never had a keyboard look as good as this one and function at such a high level. Perfect for AutoCAD, gaming, and regular use. It was hard to justify spending so much on a keyboard, but I'm quickly realizing that, for such high quality, this is a long term investment rather than a keyboard you burn through and resell. I look forward to (hopefully) many years of use with this keyboard.

    Waste of Money

Complete waste of money. Keys break off easily and aren’t designed to easily be reinstalled. There is also nowhere to buy replacement keys. For the money you spend on this keyboard the frailty of is inexcusable. Each time one broke off I simply got a finger nail or piece of clothing somehow stuck underneath. It’s only 7 months old. My previous corsair was 4 years old and I never had anything like this happen. Now I spent all this money and i don’t think I’ll buy one of Logitech’s keyboards any time soon.

Hi Burnside, thank you for your feedback! Be sure to check the "Game Mode" button that looks like a joystick controller at the top of your keyboard. It is designed to disable the Window keys, so that they stay out of the way during gameplay. For support, please refer to: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039334714 - Will, Logitech G.

I decided to test the Logitech G815 gaming keyboard because I still game quite a bit and I wanted to try a mechanical gaming keyboard. Right out of the box, it's easy to see that this keyboard is built for use. The body is a grayish/blue aluminum that makes the keyboard quite a bit heavier than my previous non-gaming keyboard. This was a bit surprising, especially since the G815 looks smaller than my original keyboard because of it's flatter, streamlined design. The nice thing about the additional weight is that the G815 stays put, where my previous keyboard would sometimes slip on the keyboard tray. For the most part, I'm pleased with the design of this keyboard, but I have had a few issues with it. My hands are kind of big, so getting used to this keyboard has taken some time, especially when using it for work. I tried using the programmable G-keys located on the far left of the keyboard for a few work related functions, but I found myself hitting them accidentally when trying to hit the Tab or Shift, so I wound up having to disable them when I'm not in a game. One other thing I discovered is that the secondary character labels (on the num-keys, etc) are difficult to see at night without a lamp on; occasionally I work in the evening without a light on, and although I know where the characters are that I want, sometimes I look at the keyboard out of habit... only now, those labels are too faint for me to see. Not a show-stopper, but something that I didn't expect. I also miss the wrist rest that was on my previous keyboard (again because my hands are kind of big). I assume Logitech wanted to reduce the footprint of this keyboard as much as possible, but I wish they had least made the wrist rest an option, so the user could choose for themselves... surely a wrist rest wouldn't have added much to the production cost/end price of the product. For gaming, the keyboard is a homerun. The action of the keys are short and precise, so you know when you've actually pressed the key. The ability to completely customize the color of the keyboard, down to an individual key, is extremely useful when you need to highlight certain keys and/or ignore others. You can also download pre-programmed settings for particular games or use pre-set animations... all using Logitech's GHUB software. Some of the animations are quite amazing. Although it has taken some getting used to, I'm quite pleased with this keyboard. The only ding I would give it is the absence of a wrist rest, but other than that, it's a very nice product that seems to be built for alot of use. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a nice gaming keyboard.

Pros Long key travel Fast actuation, only 1.5mm Satisfying click when activated Light feel to key travel Full RGB effects per key RGB effects can change automatically per game Five programmable keys and four macro keys Game mode button disables your problem keys Adjustable brightness Low profile for mechanical keyboard Media keys and volume scroll wheel USB Passthrough Metal top plate makes for a rigid build Cons Concave on keys too subtle Smooth finish on keys allows fingers to drift easier F and J tabs on the small size to quickly find your position Programmable keys hard to tell from main keys on the left Design The Logitech G815 has a plastic base with a metal top plate which allows the low-profile design to retain a surprising amount of rigidity. The main portion of the keyboard is a standard size and layout so nothing to mess up your muscle memory. Keys have a slight concave to help with locating. The switches are mechanical with a light and satisfying click when activated. Activation distance is 1.5mm and the total travel distance is 3.0mm. The keys sit above the deck, so the lighting effects are visible from the sides and anything that falls between the keys is easy to find. The configurable backlight for each key also gets very bright if you want so you should have no trouble seeing it even in a bright room or barely visible in a dark room. To the left of the main keyboard are five programmable buttons. To the top left of the keyboard are three macro buttons and a macro record button which you can set to change the function of the programmable keys on the fly or do things such as change your lighting profile. To the right of the macro keys are a joystick key and backlight key with 5 brightness levels. To the far right above the number pad are media keys for back, play/pause, forward, and mute. Directly above the media keys is a large scroll wheel to allow quick volume changes. Included is a USB passthrough port which Logitech doesn’t seem to specify which revision. The port has no indications of USB 3, so it is most likely USB 2. The USB cable is thick and braided and requires 2 USB, one for the keyboard and the other for the passthrough. Usage and Performance Macro keys and programmable keys are nothing new. What is different, that not all gaming keyboards have, is the ability to set macro and programmable keys to switch function based on the game you play. If you prefer specific key combinations between games, you add your game to G-Hub and when you launch your game then all presets will switch automatically to your preferred setup. If you create a Logi account, you can also save them to the cloud, so it follows you to any compatible peripherals. If you aren’t sure of how you want your keyboard setup, or you are looking for inspiration, you can also use G-Hub to download profiles that other games have shared and quickly try their layout. The joystick button is one of the more interesting keys that makes you wonder why no one thought to create it sooner. If you have ever been in the middle of an intense game and accidentally hit the wrong key, such as the Windows key, then you will love the joystick, button. In G-Hub, you configure which keys you want to disable during gaming. The exact keys you wish to disable is up to you, but when you press the joystick button it will disable the keys you configured. No more worrying of accidental button press brining up the Windows menu in the heat of battle. Another feature that is surprisingly helpful is the volume scroll wheel. At first glace you might wonder why it is so large. During gameplay this can come in handy. When moving around from a loud battle to an area where you need to hear the slight footstep you can change the volume easily on the fly without even looking down as it is very easy to find. As with any modern gaming keyboard it is becoming increasingly difficult to perceive any lag and the G815 is no exception. With each click of the keyboard you can have confidence that you won’t get a missed tap. Double taps occur only when you choose and not on their own. Just like any keyboard with extra keys, the programmable keys take some adjustment as their layout and placement is just a slightly larger gap. Any further and they might be out of range of your fingers. This of course isn’t exclusive to the G815 and it would be nice if either there was a stop you could feel on the keys or maybe even nubs with different markings to help you get the hang of where each one is specifically located. These features could potentially help reduce the adjustment phase. Of course, no product is perfect so you might be wondering what the downsides are. This is more of a personal preference, but the keys have a smooth finish making it easy for your fingers to drift. It is good to make quick movements smoother, but you might find you fingers slipping in between keys slightly until you get your muscle memory adapted. The locating nubs are also smaller, so it takes a little more work to keep your placement precise to prevent accidental button presses. A slightly textured finish and taller tabs could give that extra edge to keep your actions precise. Also, if you have become accustomed to gaming keyboards that have an extra nub on the S key to help you quickly locate the center of WASD, you are out of luck on the G815. Of course, these are minor gripes that become even less important with good muscle memory, but it would be nice if future generations adopted some of these concepts. Final Thoughts It’s nice to see the gaming keyboard market getting refined to the point to where it’s getting harder to recommend one over the other. This means the consumer benefits in the end by having more choices. The G815 checks all the boxes that a gamer would want and adds a few extra features some may not have even realized would be helpful. It’s nice to see Logitech still managing to find a way to add extra value to a pretty well-defined market. The Logitech G815 is easy to recommend. If you don’t like the clicky style keys, they even offer linear and tactile to suit your taste. You can even go wireless by choosing the G915 if you wish with the only sacrifice being a little more from your wallet. If you are in the market for a gaming keyboard, the G815 should be on your short list.
