The keyboard is really great. The switches are not that loud so you don't have to worry about that. The keys are very responsive when gaming and doing casual work. The build quality is great and the armrest is separate, in case you don't want to use it.

I've been a big fan of Logitech devices for some time. In my opinion they are the premier PC accessory manufacturer as their product line caters to business to hard-core gamers. I have several G Series devices including keyboards, mice and headsets so I was anxious to get my hands on the new G513 Lightsync keyboard.
It feels amazingly rugged with the aluminum case. It is on the heavy side but I see that as a plus in conjunction with the soft rubber feet as it will stay put on your desktop while under serious use (also known as gaming). While the palmrest has memory foam and an easy cleaning soft cover it is separate from the keyboard. I remember seeing something where it states the pad is detatchable however there is no way to attach it to the keyboard (except possibly using duct tape on the bottom. I prefer an attached palmrest.
Depending on your typing or gaming style you can pick 3 available mechanical key types (brown, red or blue). I personally prefer red which gives me a really smooth keystroke but some prefer brown which give you a bit of a tactile feedback when pressing. The blue provides a stronger tactile feeling with a noticable click during the keystroke.
I love that the keyboard has a USB port on the backside which provides a convenient place to plug in a mouse using one less port on the computer itself.
Using the Logitech GHub software really makes the keyboard shine (literally and figuratively). The keyboard has 12 programmable function keys which you can program macros with the software. Also with GHub you can program the Lightsync RGB backlighting for any color or a couple of pre-programmed effects. Rainbow, breathing and static on or off are pretty standard but I really like being able to make the keyboard lighting triggered by music or even better... while in gaming mode the keyboard changes effect based on the game you are playing. For instance I play Division 2 and health or healing on items in the game gives you a green glow in the game but also the keyboard will glow green while healing.
My only gripe and it is a small one, is I prefer dedicated multi-media controls (dial for volume, buttons for start/stop or pause, fast forward or reverse). These functions exist but are part of the function keys and not dedicated. It just means I set the keyboard up with the function keys in function mode or in alternate mode. Not a deal breaker as there are way too many good things about this keyboard.
5 stars for me. I'll be using the heck out of this thing.

This keyboard is extremely high quality and well built. Starting with the design, it is made from high quality materials. The arm rest is padded and topped with soft leather which makes playing games for long periods of time a breeze. The keys are tactile and have a good amount of feedback to them. This keyboard is made for gaming. It has a USB located on the keyboard which makes it convenient for plugging in other gaming peripherals. I am a huge fan of Logitech’s software which allows for complete customization of this keyboard. It comes with a tools and extra keys for easy convenience if you want to switch them out. There are many gaming keyboards on the market and finding the perfect one is hard. I personally believe there are three things to consider when buying a gaming keyboard which is comfortability, usability, and overall design. This keyboard checks the mark in all three categories. This keyboard is also very easy to set up and use right out of the box. The software does not take long to get used to and you can fully customize it to your liking. After using this keyboard for some time it has really made it that much more fun to game with. I have always been a fan of Logitech products and this keyboard is no exception to the quality products they make. This keyboard is highly recommended for anyone who is serious about PC gaming.

Good Feeling Linear Mech Keeb

If you are looking for a simple linear (Cherry Red equivalent) Mechanical keyboard the G513 is a good choice. Normally I'm a blue (clicky and tactile) but needed a linear keyboard for a few online games as my normal keyboard is a bit too loud for my fellow players. For a linear keyboard it is great. The switches feel good and smooth and responsive. I didn't have any issues from typing on it, beyond adjust to the lack of click. Unlike Cherry Red keyboards these switches feel good and smooth and I enjoyed them. If that is all you need, a linear keyboard this is a great choice. It does have a few other features that can be helpful. It has USB 2.0 passthrough, that does mean you need a port to plug the passthrough cable into, but it does save having to route your mouse or headphones behind the computer which can be handy for certain, and since its pass through you aren't sharing with the keyboard keep them separate. The keyboard also comes with a nice memory phone palm rest. I wish they had used magnets to make sure it stayed in place with the keyboard, but it wasn't too big an annoyance when I was playing, just have to move it. The LED are bright and shine through the keycaps fine. You do need to run the G HUB Software to change the colors and sync up. Software isn't to hard to use and you can customize the colors and macros. Though I have noticed if I don't run the software I lose my profile, not a large deal, just a heads up.
The frame was is nice and stable and has a decent heft which is nice and I enjoyed.
My biggest compliant is the media function/secondary function on the Function Keys wasn't lighted like the top of the caps making it a bit hard at first to figure out the media keys for volume etc. However that is a small compliant and easy fixed once I learned where they are.
Overall this is a great keyboard if you are looking for a linear (non-clicky) variety of Mech keyboards. The switches that Logitech use are smooth and have a good feel. They provide some nice option for lighting if your into that and the added pass through can help with cable management. I don't have any problems recommending this for someone who is looking for a Mech keyboard that is linear.

This is a very nice keyboard. Mechanical keyboard is a must have for competitive gaming. The keyboard packs tons of features. The design screams quality.
The keyboard employs linear key switch that feels responsive and fast. Logitech claims that the linear switch is 25% faster. Logitech also provides software to customize the keyboard’s RGB lighting and macro commands. The keyboard also has usb passthrough that allows you to connect your gaming mouse. The palm rest should provide comfort and endurance to your hand for the long game/ typing session. Nice.
Overall, this is a very nice keyboard that hits a lot of checkboxes.

Best Keyboard I've Ever Used

I was excited to try this new keyboard from Logitech and I have to say, it did not disappoint.
It looks amazing, has great keystrokes and is a huge improvement on the OEM, wireless keyboard I replaced it with.
You hook the keyboard up via a 6 foot, fairly heavy duty cable that has two USB connectors - one is for the keyboard and its power needs and the other is for a USB pass through which I will talk about later in this review.
To really get the most out of it, you want to download the Logitech G Hub software which allows you to configure the lighting. It is amazing just how programmable each key is, whether individually or as part of a series of keys that interactively light up on demand. I stuck with a couple of the pre-set combinations but love that they can be configured per game or application. For instance, my current favorite thing is that when Spotify is running, the keys default to dark and then light up and look like a pulsing equalizer waveform bar, in synch with the music which looks very cool!
Logitech says you have control over each key, for animation as well as the color and can pick from 16.8 million colors. I haven't tried much of this but when I did experiment briefly, it looked like you really could do this.
You can set up different combinations per app or game as well as program your own macros for the 12 function keys. This is all handled in the G Hub software. I have not tried it yet but playing a shooter game in the dark, you could have the keys default to black and then light up in the appropriate color when you shoot etc.
The G Hub software had preset lighting patterns that other users had created and you could download from a library. The caveat was you needed to set up an account which I have not done yet but some of the patterns looked good.
I really liked having the USB pass through. There is a port on the back of the keyboard and you can connect anything there and not have to fiddle about on the computer, looking for an open port. I used mine at the weekend to program a remote control and it was nice to just stay sat on the couch and connect up there.
I have my keyboard connected to a USB hub and 12' extension cable and have no problems at all. The response time in games is excellent and I have no complaints on the smoothness of the keys or keeping up with what is happening on the screen.
The memory foam palm rest that comes with the keyboard is nice but detached, so is not something I use a great deal, due to how I play sat on a couch with the keyboard in my lap. For desktop players, it would be much better.
The keyboard is fairly heavy, with a lot of aluminum in the case and much different to the cheap, plastic keyboards you become used to. I like this one so much, I might try to get a second one to use just for work - the keystrokes are that smooth!
All in all, this is a wonderful keyboard and definitely makes you wonder what you have missed all the years you didn't own one!

Really Good So Far!

Summary & Pros:
I have used this new Logitech G513 at home and really like it for gaming as well as working from home. My sons like that the keyboard was quieter than my previous Corsair keyboard. Since it is quieter I have moved it over to my work desk to use for 10+ hours a day. The quieter clicks have made my ears stop ringing! Not really ringing I guess but with a loud keyboard working for 10+ hours a day it was pretty dreadful to me. So hooray to Logitech for giving me a solid keyboard with quieter keys!
While Gaming:
* Solid key presses,
* Great feedback,
* Quieter key presses
While Working:
* USB 2.0 pass-through so I can leave my wireless mouse dongle plugged in,
* Again solid key presses,
* Great Feedback,
* Key press sound is quieter than my old Corsair. Using the Corsair it sounded like I was angry writing emails; this one is much tamer. I haven't taken a dB meter to it but I know it sounds much quieter because my sons told me so :)
* Wrist pad feels nice (see cons below though)
Cons:
* Wrist pad: coming from my Corsair keyboard with the attached wrist pad, I really enjoy the attached wrist pad. So far the G513 unattached wrist pad hasn't moved on me but I just like to move the keyboard and wrist pad at the same time. With this I have to move the keyboard then the wrist pad (or vice versa)-I can't move it all at once...slight annoyance. Even a magnetic or something way of connecting it would have been cool. The feel is nice though; I just dislike that it isn't attached.
Conclusion:
I wanted this to be my next gaming keyboard. I gave it a go and I do like it. I am really happier with the quieter keys, the RGB is nice and I prefer this keyboard when working. Since I had two Corsair keyboards (1 for work & 1 for gaming) I have decided to use this Logitech G513 for work as it is quieter and I take it to the office with me when I am not working remotely. All around pretty happy with this keyboard! I might even buy one to replace my gaming keyboard at home.

This keyboard is listed as coming in three different variants, with clicky, linear, or tactile key switches, respectively. I ordered the tactile variant of this keyboard.
The keyboard that arrived had packaging that described the keyboard's switches as "Linear", and that "This keyboard is also available in Tactile and Clicky switch experience, sold separately", which suggests that the tactile-switch variant of the keyboard does indeed exist and I had merely been shipped the wrong keyboard. I also verified that the SKU of my order, 6397082, matched the tactile variant's listing (as opposed to the linear variant, which has SKU 6397081 but the same model number). This lead me to believe that a warehouse error had occurred, so I returned the keyboard and ordered the tactile variant again.
I received another linear variant instead of the tactile variant.
It's entirely possible that the product listing itself here is incorrect. Will be purchasing a different keyboard for the third try. Probably a different logitech keyboard, they usually make good stuff.

Hi Joseph, Very sorry to hear about the shipping issue you're having gettint the G513 Gaming Keyboard with Tactile switches. Hopefully Best Buy can get that taken care of for you. If not, you could always go directly to Logitech's product website to directly purchase it with the switches that you want. Here's a link to the G513: https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-keyboards/g513-backlit-mechanical-gaming-keyboard.html. Hope that this helped and that all is going well. In the box is the mechanical keyboard, a faux leather wrist rest, additional keys (a,s,d,w,1,2,3,4,5)-including a key removal tool.
So far, the keyboard is very crisp and has an amazing key response. You truly know that this is a mechanical keyboard because it has the right amount of resistance and key rebound when pressing the keys. For me, the keyboard is also very sturdy and heavier than expected-2.7 pounds. With this weight and the rubber corner feet, the keyboard moves less and tends to stay in place a lot better. There is an adjustable foot (2) that pop out to change the angle of the keyboard and they also have rubber bottoms. On the right, there are numerical keys as well. The face is made out of aluminum, which is a great standard and color. All the keys are backlit, and there is an additional usb hub at the top right of the keyboard to connect additional devices (charging!, mouse)
The function key and F5 is how you change the function of the lights, solid color/pulsating/right to left colors/left to right colors/middle outward colors. So many great options of different light shows.
Overall, I love the construction of the keyboard-usb placement, how the keys feel, the design, the cord placement/length. There are also two plugs, one for the keyboard and one for additional usb hub. The cord is braided and labeled with a usb symbol and a keyboard symbol. The two plugs are one cord. As I am writing this review, I have not found any negatives for this keyboard.
Overall, this keyboard gets a 5 out of 5.
Would I recommend to friends and family? Yes, so many great things on this keyboard!

Love this Clicky Keyboard

I am a child of the 80’s and grew up typing on actual mechanical typewriters—the era of Liquid Paper correction fluid and watching the individual letter/number/symbol keys actually hitting the paper (or in some cases that silver ball spinning around), changing ribbons, lining up the paper and rolling it in, etc. What I miss the most is the key travel when hitting the keys while typing and hearing the satisfying clicky sounds as I type an average of 100 wpm. While I am not a big time gamer, I really appreciate and love this keyboard because of how it feels and sounds as I type. I also love the changing color effects of the keyboard itself (which you can customize!). I do a lot of typing daily and it’s just a fun way to break up the sometimes monotonous nature of my work. Easy setup—just plug and play. The keyboard is heavy but for a good reason—as the package says, it’s made of an “aircraft grade aluminum alloy”, which translates into “it’s durable and will last a long time”. The cords are a heavy, thick rope-like material—also an indicator that it will last a long time without fraying, etc. It also comes with a nice padded palmrest that runs along the bottom of the keyboard—it is totally separate from the keyboard itself so you can position it any way you like.

A Great Typing Experience

SET-UP
Installation and set-up were straight forward. Windows instantly recognized the keyboard and installed the drivers after plugging it in. Although the keyboard will work correctly with the basic Windows drivers, to get the most out of the user experience and unlock the full potential of the keyboard, the Logitech G Hub software must be downloaded and installed.
USE
This keyboard exudes a high-end look and feel. Starting with the braided USB cable (note: this keyboard requires 2 USB ports to power the keyboard and support the USB passthrough function) to the heavy, black, anodized aluminum body, to the thoughtful USB passthrough port, every part about the keyboard reinforces that premium feel. The brown, Logitech mechanical keys have just the right amount of noise and tactile feedback.
As I stated earlier, to get the best user experience and unlock all the programmable features of the keyboard, the user must download and install the Logitech G Hub software. Though, I don’t find the software the most intuitive, it gets the job done competently and allows for a great deal of customization. The software not only controls the keyboard, it will also control other Logitech devices too.
The G Hub software allows the end user to program a variety of different options into the keyboard. The Function Keys are fully programmable and can be set to execute custom macros. The software also supports multiple profiles too. You can set a profile for your favorite game, favorite video playback software, working profile, etc. and have the function keys all change their functions and/or macros depending upon the task at hand. Buttons can even be disabled in the profiles to keep from inadvertently hitting them. Very cool. Even nicer, is that fact each one of those super-slick, brown, mechanical switches can be individually programmed to display any one of approximately 16.8 million colors. Don’t have the time or desire to program each and every key? Not to worry, the software includes pre-programmed lighting options. As expected in this day, the software will sync the lighting scheme to other Logitech products, if so desired.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I have been using keyboards that are supplied by the PC manufacturers for many years, swapping out to a new keyboard when I purchased a new computer. The standard pre-packaged keyboards have always served me well and I have gotten quite used to the basic, boring, bland designs and the silent, mushy keystrokes. The Logitech mechanical switches are quite different and now feel out of place from what I’ve grown accustomed to.
This keyboard brings back memories of the good ol’ days when I built PC’s and always used custom accessories. The old-school, mechanical feel of the Logitech brown switches are extremely gratifying. I had forgotten just how satisfying the click of a good mechanical switch can feel and sound. The G513 Carbon not only has a nice heft and feel, it looks great too. This keyboard has earned the top spot on my desk and is now my primary keyboard for all games and day-to-day work. I admit, it has taken me a little time to get accustomed to working and typing on this keyboard, but it has all been worth it. The Logitech G513 Carbon is an excellent product.

Without even hooking up this keyboard you can tell it's not just any ordinary keyboard and is a well-built nice looking keyboard! First, the keyboard with this metal body/frame looks nice and feels solid. The keys are very responsive yet very quiet. I really like the feel of this keyboard and the distance for keypress for me is just right. It comes with a long USB cable so you don't have to have it's right next to the tower, and it has a port that you can plug your mouse into which I think is great to help reduce the distance if you have a wireless mouse. Of course, there are other uses for it too!
For gaming, I think it's great and the keys have different keycaps that you can change out for gaming. It does have macro keys that you can use to set your own macros and store different RGB profiles.
Logitech's software makes it easy to configure the RGB colour programming per key and has some nice defaults programmed in that will work for most and help coordinate lighting with other Logitech devices.
Overall, this is a really nice keyboard and one I'd recommend if you're looking for a quiet but very responsive/capable gaming keyboard!
