Customers frequently mention the PH01 Pure Humidify + Cool Smart Tower Humidifier & Air Purifier's effectiveness as both a humidifier and an air purifier, with many reporting noticeable improvements in air quality and relief from allergies. They also appreciate its quiet operation, easy setup, and the convenience of the Dyson Link app. However, some customers find it to be quite expensive and express concerns about the high cost of replacement filters and potential durability issues.

I would not normally consider spending so much on an air purifier/humidifier, but decided to give this a try because of sinus issues after moving from a humid environment to the Arizona desert.
It wasn’t available at my local Best Buy, so I had it shipped. Shipping was very slow, but that was a UPS problem.
Assembly was simple and easy. It also connected to WiFi very easily.
Days here can be single digit humidity. Within 12 hours it had my bedroom humidity up to over 40 percent, and has maintained that level in the week I’ve had it (bedroom door is always open to my 1400 square foot house).
I’ve looked at the air quality monitor after cooking dinner on the stovetop and it showed as unhealthy due to particulate matter. It cleared the air quickly and soon showed back to good.
My sinuses are much improved after use. My room smells and feels like the air is much cleaner than before use.
Like many Dyson products, I feel that they are overpriced. However, after one week of use I am considering it money well spent.
I can’t speak much to it’s capabilities as a fan, but it does seem to move enough air to function in that capacity.

A (Pricey) Revolution in Home Air Treatment

As an owner of multiple Dyson cooling fans, I've been hoping that the company would finally release a product like this: a system that combines cooling, purification, and humidifying into one machine. Combining these three things has been a revelation for someone like me living in a dry climate with bad allergies. The PH01 has replaced my older Dyson fan and clunky humidifier, and the amount of technology and features packed into this machine is truly astounding. But it might not be the one-stop solution for every home.
=== SETUP AND DESIGN ===
I was surprised to see just how large of a box the PH01 comes in. Luckily, the machine itself comes mostly assembled, so all you really have to do is install the filters and fill the water tank as outlined in the quick start manual. You'll want to make sure you place the machine the spot you anticipate keeping it before filling the water tank, as the machine gets quite heavy and difficult to move after you add water. Also, make sure you point the front of the fan towards the area where you want the greatest cooling effect (see Cooling Performance section below). Finally, download the Dyson app to your phone and follow the simple pairing instructions to connect your machine to your Wi-Fi network. The PH01 is yet another easy and straight-forward setup experience from Dyson.
The machine itself is actually shorter than I was expecting it to be. I was hoping it would be taller like the older TP01 and TP04 models. A taller design would likely help this machine achieve a greater coverage in air flow, but I suppose sacrifices had to be made in order to combine cooling, purification, and humidifying. Regardless, the machine looks very nice, if not a little chunky or wide. The white and silver combination should fit into almost any home.
=== COOLING PERFORMANCE ===
This is the only fan I have in the living room and kitchen area of my "open floor plan" apartment. In this type of open environment, the PH01 does an excellent job of circulating air. However, the fan doesn't truly oscillate. Rather, the two vertical tubes on both sides of the loop rotate left and right (with 45- or 90-degree oscillation options) while the base of the machine remains stationary. This means that virtually no air is directed or circulated behind the machine -- only to the front and sides. As such, the "oscillation" on this machine is lacking compared to other Dyson purifiers like the TP04, which offers true 350-degree oscillation. Also, as mentioned above, the shorter design of this machine might also limit the amount of area that can be covered in larger spaces. This is certainly something to consider if you have a larger home.
=== PURIFYING AND HUMIDIFYING PERFORMANCE ===
What I love about the PH01 is how seamlessly it combines air purifying and humidifying into one clean package. The "auto" modes for both purifying and humidifying can make this a "set it and forget it" machine. But the geek in me loves looking at all of the data available in the Dyson app, which shows a detailed history of how the machine has cleaned and humidified your air. For reference, I live in the downtown area of a highly populated city in the desert known for poor air quality. When I installed the machine, my air quality rating was in the moderate (yellow) range, according to the app. After just 1 day of using the PH01, my rating had improved to "good" (green) and has remained there ever since. Today, six days after setting up the machine, my average air quality rating is "good" and the app gives a detailed breakdown of exactly which contaminants it filtered and when it did so.
The humidifier component of the PH01 is equally impressive. Average outdoor humidity in my city probably averages about 10 or 15 percent. The first day I installed the machine, it detected my indoor humidity at 28%, which is low. After six days of using the machine, my average humidity according to the app (and my Nest thermostat) is now 45% and my apartment is noticeably more comfortable. You can adjust your desired humidity in increments from 30% to 70%. But what I love most is just how automatic it is -- I don't have to run a separate machine or deal with any complicated settings. It's just a seamless part of the PH01.
=== OTHER FEATURES AND THOUGHTS ===
There are too many features of this machine to detail here, but here are some things that stand out to me:
- The PH01 uses ultraviolet light to clean your water before it is emitted into the air, so don't be scared to use tap water.
- The machine basically cleans itself. Pressing the "deep clean" button on the base of the fan walks your through an automatic cleaning cycle which eliminates mineral build-up and bacteria. There are three packets of descaling powder included in the box.
- The screen on the front of the machine seems rather dim to my eyes. At a distance in a bright room, it's hard to tell what fan speed is selected or really read any other information on the screen. Not as big of an issue at night or when the lights are off.
=== OVERALL ===
I really like the PH01 and it has improved the air quality in my apartment without question. But there are two major things to consider: the type of home you want to use this in, and the price. If you live in a wet, humid climate, you may want to consider just how useful the humidifying feature of this machine will be. If you have a larger home or living area, it's very possible that Dyson's other purifying fans (like the TP04) will do a better job circulating air in your home while still providing the same level of air purification.
For those who can truly benefit from the purifying and humidifying aspects of this machine -- particularly those who live in dry climates -- then the price of the PH01 is a tough pill to swallow. For me personally, I think it's worth it. As someone who values clean living and embraces the way technology can improve our lives, I think Dyson has created a revolutionary machine here. I just hope they can eventually settle on a price point that is accessible to more people.

Purifier was super easy to put together and looks very sleek for what it is. As others have stated, it's quite large, but not too heavy and there's a really easy, seamless system for filling up the water.
I do wish the fan aspect was a bit stronger. You wont feel the breeze much unless you are fairly close to it. I'm also a little disappointed by the oscillation. While it's cool (no pun intended!) how it's designed, it's frustrating that you can't "pause" the oscillation in a certain location. Unlike other Dyson fans where you can pause the oscillation exactly where you want it, with this Dyson, it only oscillates back and forth or pauses facing forward. You have to physically move the unit if you want it to blow air in a direction other than directly in front of it. Not a huge deal but seems like a rather small thing they could have incorporated.
Another thing to not re: the fan is it doesn't tilt up/down. So air can only be felt in level with the air blades, which is why I have all mine propped up on something. However, this does have me a little concerned about the huge tank of water tipping since I'm in an earthquake hot spot. Hoping for the best if that day comes!
The app is cool and intuitive. It seems like I'm getting better sleep, but it could be placebo.
Overall, I'm enjoying the product!

Pain To Fix Issues

From Day 1: I had bought 2 of these Dyson PH01 Models for my home. First one went in the nursery and had every possible issue causing problems for me and my newborn in the hot months of summer. Motor problems which caused 1 to not operate and a sensor issue that didn't read the proper water levels and even after 2 painful experiences with Dyson Customer Service I finally got a replacement pump 2 months after my child was born. The second of the 2 was placed in a masterbedroom and this one had every issue which made me want to just never buy Dyson Products again. I returned a unit once to Best Buy possibly even twice since I had remembered breaking down the huge box it came in several times during the same week. Besides the fact of screen issues (this model has a small LED screen) it kept showing problems of an icon with a circle and an exclsmation mark. The filters or sensor or pump or anything! This made me so angry and frustrated beyond the fact I had to deal with Dyson Customer Service YET AGAIN!!! During the same HOT months of summer I vowed to never buy Dyson again. The "MANAGER" that contracted me through Dyson didn't do anything except order my replacements of a fan and pump that should have been done months ago but guess what they offered me even knowing my issues during COVID19 and with a newborn living by myself at the time??? They told me to go to a Service Center 50 miles from where I lived to get mine serviced. Such consideration on Dysons Part. So if you enjoy being treated like trash and you love defective products and you love fixing problems through Dyson Customer Service that don't care about you and you love returning and replacing parts when they don't work buy this item it will change your mind on Dyson as a whole. That's what Die-Son stands for right? Oh Dyson! Believe ALL the reviews since I encountered so many Screen, and Pump or Motor or Sensor or Power or Functionality Issues In General besides the fact the unit doesn't even do an amazing job of what its supposed to do Fan is WEAK and its majorly overpriced but besides that it also doesnt do its other functions like other products do.

Simply put: it doesn’t work.
One of the most expensive “purifier” + humidifiers on the market, this Dyson unit simply doesn’t work. With the humidity set to the highest level, it has no change in the measured room humidity. It seems to have little or no effect on odors. The parts are hard to remove and replace. Dyson support is obtuse and unhelpful. And it’s looks are more noisy than pleasing.
The associated app and data stream from the unit are by far the best feature, but unfortunately just serve to confirm that the thing can’t do it’s job.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We are sorry to hear that you've had a disappointing experience with your Dyson PH01. The Pure Humidify+Cool is ideal for larger spaces, and it purifies, humidifies and cools the air around you. The filtration helps to automatically sense and capture allergens, pollutants and gases. The machine can reach 70% humidity, but getting to this target depends on environmental conditions like the size and ventilation of the room, and the relative humidity of the surrounding air. Even when the machine is working properly, it can naturally be harder to reach a target humidity if the air is relatively dry to begin with, if it’s an “open” environment where non-humidified air is flowing in, etc.
While we don't expect problems to occur, Dyson does back your new purchase from an authorized retailer with a free two year guarantee. To ensure we're available to assist our valued owners, we include our helpline number directly on all of our units, make ourselves available to assist via live chat directly on our site, as well as 24 hours a day via email. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

There was a big problem when I first used the machine.
The fan blade was stuck in the housing. Since it takes me 2 hours to visit Best Buy to exchange the PHO1 - and that might have the same problem - I decided to repair this myself. I am an Engineer - not everyone can do that.
Get it tested in the Store before you go home.
Took me 1.5 hours, now all is great.

I bought this air purifier right after my daughter was born, figured I could get two birds with this unit air quality and humidity. About 6 months after I purchased this unit started hearing weird grinding noises when I used the humidifier mode so I contacted Dyson. They game me the run around for a week and blamed it on my outlet. Whatever I will just use the unit as a air purifier only. A couple of weeks go by and more noises. I contacted them and was able to snap shot the error image and sent it over. They said the will fix the unit but I would have to drive 2 hrs to the closest repair shop there hours are 9-5 m-f. Great but now I have to take the day off work to drop it off and another day to pick the unit up and lose 8hrs of drive time with todays gas prices.
So I decided to just use the air purifier mode and after some time the air motor crapped out. I’m shocked that Dyson would make a expensive product that can’t even last 2yrs.
I purchased this Dyson air purifier 3/21 and today it 10/22 it completely died, there $848 gone.

This Dyson pure is truly an amazing appliance. We have been using this in our home for a few days now and honestly you can feel the difference In the quality of air in our home. My kids and I suffer from allergies and we have humidifier and air purifiers in our house and they do help but not as much as the dyson. This is also a two in one system, it humidifies and purifies the air all one one system. It also monitors the air quality in the house and for the techies you can also control the unit via the Dyson app and runs on wifi. We honestly love this product and would whole heartedly recommend this to anyone that suffers from allergies or anyone wanting to clean the air in their house. There is one downside to this product and that's the price. This unit is alittle on the higher end, but you get what you pay for and as with other Dyson products you know as well as I do that this will last for sometime.

It is hard to know exactly where to begin but suffice it to say that this is honestly one of the most unique and fully featured multi-function fans I have seen. To call it a fan is coarse, really, as it is much much more than just a fan. It humidifies, purifies, and all around circulates air in a way that you have to feel and smell more than just read about.
As a fan, it excels. It has 10 different speeds of fan strength and can also be set to a backward airflow mode to simply humidify and purify the air in your room(s) without cooling; very useful for the colder months. It also has an auto mode so it can increase and decrease the speed to filter and maintain air purity. Furthermore, it has a nighttime mode that turns the fan down to a quieter setting and dims the screen so has not to disturb you in the dark. It has three oscillation modes: 45º, 90º, and my favorite, breeze mode which imitates an indirect to direct shifting breeze just like if you were sitting out on your favorite patio chair on a breezy afternoon.
As a purifier, this thing is fully speced out. I won’t needlessly copy and paste all of the specific filter specifications, but I will say that the real time number read out both on the actual screen of the device and on the smartphone app is awesome for knowing how your air purity is doing; I included some screen shots to show what that info looks like on the application. The app is also helpful as it lets you know how your air filter is doing on efficacy and when you will need to replace it. I am not sure how accurate this will actually be or whether it will just be used to make you buy relatively expensive filter replacements more often than is truly needed, but I am trusting it as a useful guide to know when to start thinking about replacement. Beyond just purifying the air that flows in and out of this machine, they even use an ultraviolet cleanse technology to kill bacteria in the water that is used for humidification.
As a humidifier, this has some of the best listed features I have seen to maintain the humidity in the spaces this machine influences. As I mentioned above, the water that gets aerosolized for humidification is exposed to ultraviolet light to kill bacteria. Additionally, this machine unlike other competitors aerosolizes the water to such a small size that they cannot carry germs. There is no mist that comes out of the machine, so it is safe to be in close proximity to moisture sensitive items like books. The humidification can be adjusted by percentage to meet your needs (awesome for a room where, for example, one might keep wooden instruments sensitive to humidity range) and it has an automatic mode to maintain the humidity. Mine is set to maintain 50% and turns on and off the humidifier function accordingly to maintain this. The 1-gallon water reservoir is generous and easy to remove and fill with water. The specs state that in auto mode, the tank can give you roughly 15 hours depending on the humidity levels of your rooms. For example, the outside air is about 57% in my area in the Spring right now, so the auto mode probably would last many more hours. I haven’t had the fan on long enough in one straight go yet to test this. An additional cool feature the app has is that you can choose whether your water is hard, soft, or in between, and it will tell you how many hours of humidification you can go before needing to do a deep clean cycle. On hard water, it is looking like 650 hours or so is how long I have to go. The machine is able to do this clean cycle itself with the use of citric acid powder that they include three cycles worth of in the box! The instructions on how to do this are included right on the reservoir and can be looked up online too, so don’t worry that you won’t be able to figure it out.
This is the fan for the modern-minded individual who is comfortable with electronics and enjoys the ability to use applications on their phone and smart assistants like Siri and Alexa to control their electronics. The Dyson app connected to this fan super smoothly as I followed the instruction prompts and now has given me total real-time control of this fan. Even with just the included remote, the fan is great and will benefit anyone interested in its use!
Overall, I cannot recommend this machine enough. Thanks for reading and I hope it helps to get you excited about the awesome purchase you are about to make!

A Refreshing Spring Breeze in your Home!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Do you suffer from allergies? Do you like to Breathe cool fresh Clean air? Do you like to sleep with a fan on?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool may be a device for you! My wife is enjoying it so much she is planning on writing Dyson to ask when a smaller, portable version is coming out to use when we travel!
Features
The Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool is a purifying, humidifying, and cooling fan that is designed to automatically purify and humidify the air inside your living spaces to provide you with a healthier environment. This is accomplished using sensors, filtration, and humidification.
The sensors use local temperature and humidity data from the web to adjust the fan’s cooling and humidification levels to ensure that area it is placed in has the most hygienic air possible. These sensors “automatically detect airborne particles, gasses, temperature, and humidity”. It provides insight into this information on a small screen on the unit as well as via the Dyson Link App, which can also be used to control the machine’s settings. If desired the fan can be controlled via Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri ®.
This fan uses HEPA and activated carbon filters to capture gasses and fine particles including allergens. This is a fully sealed 360-degree filtration system with a 99.97% capture rating of allergens as small as 0.3 microns. It also has what Dyson calls Air Multiplier technology to project over 84 gallons of smooth, powerful airflow per second to circulate the purified, humidified air throughout the room.
One the humidification side of the fan, this unit comes with a 1-gallon water tank that can provide up to 36 hours of hygienic humidification. This means you will not have to constantly fill up the tank. The unit also has an Ultraviolet system that is used to remove 99.9% of bacteria in the water being used for humidification. The humidification system is based on Dyson developed evaporative methods using a woven mesh evaporator, the results in an extremely fine water vapor that makes it invisible and incapable of carrying any bacteria with it.
Other features include:
• Breeze Mode – the airflow mimics a natural breeze
• Fan mode – with options for 0, 45 or 90 degrees of oscillation
• Backwards Airflow mode – to gain air quality benefits without cooling you.
• Night mode – uses the quietest settings and dimmed display to allow you to sleep and have purified and humidified air.
• Sleep timer – this will allow you to program the machine to turn off after pre-set intervals from 30 minutes to 8 hours.
• The unit has a multifunction remote to control the various settings including automatic modes for both purification and humidification mode.
Setting Up the Unit
Setting up the unit is very straight forward and includes needing to remove packing some packing tape and cardboard from the unit that is there to make sure the unit arrives in perfect shape. It reminds me of setting up a new printer as far as the tape. The filters easily snap into place and then the panels are reattached to the unit (see picture accompanying this review).
Next one needs to fill the tank with water. The tank is held in place via two levers on the side of the unit. The lid of the tank has the pump and electric connections to allow the water to flow to the rest of the unit and has a nice carrying handle and small wheels to help it roll into place.
The final step of setup is installing and connecting the machine to your tablet or smartphone via the Dyson Link app. The app is very quick to set up and includes a step by step guide for connecting the fan to the internet so it can download your local air quality data to help it perform at its best. The app has 3 main functions – to control the fan, to get air quality data, and to keep you informed when the unit needs to be cleaned or the filters need to be replaced.
The unit comes with 3 packs of a Citric acid solution that is used to clean it when it tells you to do so. The cleaning cycle is used to eliminate mineral build-up in the machine’s water system and the machine has built-in step-by-step instructions on how to manage the cycle.
Usage Impressions
Once set up the fan is very easy to use. It quickly becomes a "set and forget" device. With the main activity being to refill the water tank. For our usage pattern, primarily at night and in the morning, the 36 hours of humidification time will last for 7 -10 days. Once we found the right fan speed and humification settings we have largely left the unit alone except to turn it off and back on.
Initially, we were very skeptical of this unit because we had in place a very low cost and somewhat effective box fan plus filter system to help control the allergen level and provide air circulation with some purification to keep the allergens low. This is especially true when you factor in the cost of the Dyson unit. After several days of use, however, we have found this to be an excellent device that has reduced the “morning allergy flow”. It has been a very pleasant surprise.
Summary
Overall, this unit has extremely nice features and as previously stated has been a nice addition to our home. The unit is easy to set up and maintain.
While pricey, the unit is designed to keep you healthier and by using this you might be able to avoid potential future health issues by breathing in better quality air. For us, being healthy and delaying future health issues is something we are willing to invest in. Still, it loses a star due to the price.
Pros: it does what it says it will do, HEPA Filtration
Cons: Cost – both initially and for replacement filters

This machine has a horrible design flaw that causes the water lever sensor circuit board to flood with water. The first time you take the tank lid off and place it upside down with the pump body facing up water will run into the circuit board and ruin the machine. Look it up on reddit, its well documented. My machine didnt make it 2 days before having this issue. Additionally the machine is literaly put together with ductape (see attached photo of flooded circuit board area.)
