I have been using the hp omen 15 for a day. The laptop is really good for the price. I bought it for $950 for black Friday sale. A nice surprise was the weight, it is advertised 5.4 lb, but I weighted it and is definitely a 4.6 lb! It is quite portable not as portable than a macbook pro but it is quite light weighted at this value. Performance wise, the laptop is very cool and quite quiet compare to the gl503 that I previously owned. While playing apex legend, I had about 90 to 120 fps, and the cpu was not getting hotter than 85c at default setting (77c most of the time) I have noticed some cons when using the laptop. The charger is really hot when plugging it for a while (can hold the charger for 5 sec max). I do not know if it is defective or not. In idle, the fan is audible, it can be annoying, if you need to be totally silent. Overall the hp omen 15 is a really good laptop. For $950, I can not ask for more the display is smooth, keyboard is nice. There is small cons but it is worth it for the price.

Always loved Mac's, coming from a 2014 Macbook Pro. Wanted to upgrade but didn't want to pay the hefty price tag for and new Pro. I'm not disappointed with my purchase. Coming from a Retina screen the screen on the HP is awesome, plenty of ports, great cooling, keyboard feels nice, sound is solid. Battery life is meh but what do you expect from a computer with this much horsepower. Hefty power brick but maybe that's normal these days. Plastic body but feels sturdy. Haven't tried gaming but wouldn't think there would be any problems with the 8 core ryzen and 1660ti. Been searching for a long time and believe I got the right one.

Great laptop. Is fast and surely good for what it's meant for. Gaming, some coding and design. It does get heated quickly but the fans are efficient. I bought an additional cooling pad to help out. Battery does die quicker than i thought. Can last me up to 2 hours. Just doing regular work stuff that do not require heavy programs

The Omen 15 Ryzen 7 1660ti 16GB laptop is everything you could ask for. Great benchmarks for productivity, excellent FPS with gaming, and a sleek design that won't embarrass you in professional meetings or in public. With productivity, an 8-core 16-thread CPU is going to be capable of handling 4K video editing, and throw in the 1660ti, and you have an excellent solution. I've personally had low export times using Adobe Premier Pro, and I'd imagine it wouldn't be any different with more demanding applications like After Effects. With gaming, there are no complaints for me. Granted, this isn't a $2-3k laptop, so don't expect desktop level FPS performance, but for what you are getting, this is a great laptop. Expect really high frames on competitive multiplayer games like League of Legends, CS:GO, and Valorant. Games that are made with more demanding textures and detail you won't be fully utilizing the 144hz screen, but you'll still sit comfortably 60+ fps with medium to high graphics in most titles. The build quality of the Omen 15 is phenomenal. Nice tactile keyboard, great aesthetic (tasteful blue diamond on back of screen), and just a rock-solid tight and thermally sound chassis. I have been completing extensive thermal monitoring for the past month with this laptop, and I can say that this laptop is likely the best on the market for keeping the internals cool. I am averaging around 34-45c with boost disabled and completing light tasks like watching Youtube, etc. With gaming, I enable boost and I average anywhere from 60c-85c, with an average of around 70c using Performance mode. For a cooler (but louder) experience, you can use the Comfort setting within the Omen software, but know the fan ramps up really quickly at lower temperatures. Overall, I would recommend this laptop to family and friends asking about a higher end laptop for gaming/productivity. Also, if you are a student that likes to game, this would be a phenomenal buy as well, as it would last you many years with it's lovely cooling solution. HP has really knocked it out of the park, and they've got a new laptop customer for years to come.

I've actually had this laptop twice - I got one early July then again in August. my first one had a weird screen flick it did sometimes so I returned it and since my store did not have any in stock - I opted for a desktop (The Cyberpower 3700x / 5700 XT / 16 GBs / 1 TB build ). While I loved the desktop - I MISSED the laptop tons. So I got it again.... and it has blown me away. Gaming has been smooth - screen has NO ghosting and 144 hz. Plug this badboy into a wall and you'll be Siege and DOOM playing at well above 60 fps. The speed and ability of this laptop changes my thinking process from "what can it do?" to "WHAT CAN'T IT DO?!" -- and the answer to that is not much! Thunderbolt isn't on AMD platforms so if that is important then this is a no go. Everything else -- this should be a top contender for you. m.2 open slot for future storage upgrade? Check RAM not soldier on the motherboard - so it could become 32 or 64 gbs? - Check Cooling solution that can keep up with the CPU and GPU? Check! (its actually one of the strongest traits of this already fantastic laptop) About the first swap -- this laptop forced me to upgrade my desktop because it really told the story about how aged and behind my desktop was. I did the SSD treatment, 4 different GPU ending at the RX 580 but....it was an overlocked to 4.4 ghz i7 2600k -- still a solid chip for gaming even to this day but - using this laptop and going back to it was - well - terrible. My house is Ryzen to the occasion! (this is cheesy but I'm flexing so hush)

I bought this laptop on Black friday so both the price and product are excellent. The machine work fast at everything, beautiful display, rgb backlid kb, good cpu gpu are why it is worth to purchase. I play some game like gta5, pes2021, csgo,... not all are demand game but it all go smooth at 1080p high, very high setting. Only one issue is the speaker a little small but with a good pair of headphone then problem solved. Overall great laptop, also thanks to bestbuy great customer service.

Pros: Plenty of Gaming Power 144hz Screen Better Priced than most laptops with a 1660Ti. Quite Sturdy Cons: Limited Keyboard Backlighting Options Terrible Battery Life (As expected from a gaming laptop) Pretty Hefty Runs Very Hot which causes the fans to be rather loud. One major flaw I encountered is the laptop came with the default graphics processer in Nvidia's control panel set to the rather weak integrated processor on the Ryzen CPU so I would highly recommend changing it over to the 1660Ti if you plan on playing basically anything.

The HP Omen is a great PC! The AMD Ryzen 7 processor and Nvidia Geforce GTX graphics makes for a great combination that delivers on performance. The 1TB SSD is nice too! Have been working this PC for about a month now with no issues. I would recommend it at this point without reservations. Multitasking on this PC is not a problem. I can go from one project to another without any hiccups and things run smoothly.

Currently the best laptop I’ve had so far! The question you have to ask when it comes to this laptop is what can’t it do? The specs are AMAZING and the cooling for this machine is what separates this laptop from the rest. When running a few different games such as GTA IV (the second best GTA game in Rockstar’s franchise btw), the specs make it to where the CPU & GPU are barely being used and the laptop is cool as if I’m not running any programs at all. In addition to the amazing cooling, the laptop is VERY quiet even when running the most demanding programs including gaming. Laptop also edits videos FLAWLESSLY! In video editing programs I have such as Premiere or Sony Vegas, I can run previews at the highest settings possible with effects or anything extra I want to add with no issues at all. Overall, in my opinion, this laptop is amazing and I would HIGHLY recommend it. Way better than any laptop I’ve ever had including the Dell G3 which is and was a piece of garbage that overheated by just opening up google chrome. Didn’t want to believe it, but AMD Ryen is way better than Intel, especially with this laptop. For someone like me that doesn’t spend much money, this was worth every penny!

Short and Sweat – This Laptop Is amazing for the price and outperforms other brands at the same price and hardware configuration. I needed a replacement for my aging MSI GT60 with I7-4700MQ and GTX880M and this laptop didn’t disappoint. This laptop could be considered a midrange desktop replacement. HP is not the name that came to mind when thinking of buying a gaming laptop but it is now! Just buy it! The long Cooling- PROS: I feel like this is the first thing that needs to be mentioned the cooling system design is astounding for how compact this laptop is! Every other brand I read reviews on had this CPU hitting 100C+ while this laptop keeps the CPU at an average of 75-85C depending on the game it will peak into the low 90C at times but only for a short period. The GPU never goes above 75C even after a recent 10-hour straight gaming session and the average CPU in that session was 78C! It keeps temps safe and it outperforms other brands by a long shot with the same components. CONS: Of course, I would like for the temps for be lower but I feel for how compact this laptop is that the cooling design is nothing less than astounding! The laptop does have manual fan control but its hard to find and is buried away in the OMEN command center (You have to click on the Omen 15 tab then go to performance control) Display PROS: Its 144hz with a low response time, colors are pretty good especially for a budget gaming laptop! Very little IPS glow in the corners not really noticeable at all. Has freesync but very small range of 40-60hz. CONS: I had to return the first one I got due to a cluster of dead pixels in the top right of the screen, and when I say dead I mean dead not stuck. The second one I got I checked in the store and all was good until I got home and one single pixel was stuck and would “stick” and “unstick” but has since resolved and hasn’t showed up for about a week. So if you buy this in the store check it out before leaving the parking lot to make sure you got a good panel. CPU I knew I wanted the AMD Ryzen 4000 series APU for my next gaming laptop due to it have 8C/16threads and this CPU has lived up to the hype. The AMD 4800H in this laptop hits 4.3ghz boost clocks which is higher than the advertised 4.2ghz. Im attributing that to the cooling system in this laptop. When running benchmarks this CPU is equal to the AMD Ryzen 3700X it’s a touch slower in single core loads but beats the 3700X in multicore loads. And it completely wrecks anything Intel has to offer at the moment in the laptop space. GPU The GPU in this laptop has really surprised me and is a huge leap coming from a GTX 880M, it stays super cool in this laptop I’ve never seen it go above 75C and that’s after 10 hours straight of gaming at 100% utilization. Of course I would love to had been able to buy a laptop with a RTX 2070 or 2080 but at the time of this purchase no company had a 4000 series mobile Ryzen with anything higher than a RTX 2060 and the thermals on those laptops were not safe. Keyboard The backlighting is good and can be seen in a bright room, the keys have a nice feel when typing and are good for this range of laptop. The keyboard has 4 zones of RGB you can change. Overall for this price range it’s an excellent keyboard for the price! CONS: No number pad, most games don’t use the number pad but ARMA 3 does need it for all the controls it has. But I knew this going in and I can just play ARMA 3 on my desktop or hook a keyboard to it. HDD: HP didn’t cheap out on the hard drive in this thing they popped in a Samsung NVME 1 tb drive!! This alone would cost $200 and after using the one in this laptop I’m getting one for my desktop as well games that normally take 20-30seconds to load on my desktop from a standard SSD load in 5-8seconds its just ridiculous! And loading to the desktop with the computer off takes around 7-8 seconds! RAM: It is 3200MHZ ram but the timings are loose CAS22 but at this price point you can’t complain to much. Timings are 22-22-22-52-74 1T. Sound: What to say the speakers are ok, they are not going to blow you out of the water, and have very little bass. But for a $1300 laptop you cant expect everything compromises had to be made and ill gladly take low end speakers for better quality hardware any day! I/O: Has everything you need 3 USB type As and 1 usb C, mini displayport, and HDMI as well as ethernet if you are lan gaming. I bought a cheap usb type C multiadapter and it works great if you need more usbs. WIFI: So this comes with a Intel R WIFI 6 AX200 adapter, I had problems hooking up to the router at the place I’m renting for work, which is Type N router from spectrum. Due to not being able to access the router in person I could not fix it through the router, I had to set the adapter in the laptop to only run at 2.4ghz and a/b/g/n this fixed the problem. But at my house I can connect to any and all routers no problems at 2.4ghz and 5 ghz bands with great speeds. So this is just a router issue but wanted to mention it in case anyone has spectrum and runs into this problem just know it’s a router problem not a hardware problem. Overall: Overall this laptop has really delivered especially at this price range, I normally buy towards the high end of gaming laptops but at the moment companies are not offering higher end laptops with the Ryzen 4000 series, and since I needed a new laptop now this was the only choice I seen as viable, I was a little hesitant of buying an HP since they are normally known for office products, but I was very surprised at how well designed this laptop is! The way I looked at it this laptop only cost me $1300 and I feel like it will last me at least two years, and I normally buy in the $2500 range which normally will last 4-5years so really ill be spending about the same amount of money if and when I need to replace it.

A Great Choice for my First Gaming PC

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I will preface this review with the statement that I am not a super knowledgeable computer expert, and I wish I could give it 4 and a half stars, but 5 stars is probably better considering how trivial my issues are with it in the grand scheme of things. Quality: I like the design of this laptop a lot because it has a very sleek, smooth, and simple aesthetic. There's a lot of "gaming" equipment that has this particular aesthetic that makes it look incredibly silly in my opinion. The types of devices I am talking about often very obviously look like they are tools for entertainment and "excess" if I could describe it. Taking one of those devices to a professional workplace may get you some funny looks. On the other hand, this laptop I believe could very easily pass as a more "professional" looking device, so if you are like me and not very into the way Alienware type stuff looks, then you will probably like the way this laptop looks. Before getting this laptop, I have never had any PC or similar device that comes even close to the power of this one. Every component that came with it makes it capable of running just about every game that I have tried on it well, and most of them while using the most demanding settings. Here's a list of some of the games I have played on it that I believe may have high demands and have played very well with little to no issues: Baldur's Gate 3 (very nice looking game) Dynasty Warriors 7 (seems to render many objects and effects at once) Gears 5 (puts the highest strain on the GPU [graphics] of all my games I am aware of) Halo Master Chief Collection (seems to be a popular game, so it's nice it seems to run well) Payday 2 (another popular game that seems to run reasonably well with high-demand settings applied, though are are some occasional moments of stuttering that seem to happen when entering new areas, leading me to believe it may be something like loading) Like all laptops I can think of, this laptop performs best while it is plugged in. I achieved the well-running state of the games above while plugged in. While unplugged, I often had to compromise between performance and graphical quality. Beyond the in-game settings, the GPU (the thing that mostly controls the graphics) installed has a control panel (options-like menu) accessible from the system while the computer is on. It can be used to further modify things about particular games, such as setting a framerate cap. Besides all of this, the laptop seems well put together and works as you would expect with the Windows 10 OS. Value: I bought this laptop while it was on sale for just under $1,000 before tax and other expenses. I don't remember what the regular price of this laptop is without the sale, but I like to think of it like this. This laptop is a well-made machine that does everything a regular Windows 10 laptop would do (minus one thing I will get into in the "ease of use" section). I will once again reiterate I am not an expert in these matters, but the "gaming" components of the laptop seem to put it at least on par with a PS4 or Xbox 1 while plugged in, and possibly even better. So to me, this is like a laptop with the gaming power of at least (and probably better than) a PS4 or Xbox 1. Value is fairly subjective, so I will let you, the reader, make the determination of whether or not the price you will pay will be worth it. Ease of use: As a laptop, this one is very easy to use. Before this laptop, I never had one with a SSD storage device. The SSD storage device makes this laptop start up incredibly fast, always within about a half-minute or less for me. This makes those times where your PC needs to restart much less of an inconvenience. All applications start up incredibly fast too. For me, this feature is such a quality of life improvement, I don't think I will ever be able to go back to HDD storage devices. The keyboard has a backlight that can be turned on and off, and like many gaming keyboards, it is customizable. The customization can be done through a pre-installed program. The customization does seem to be a bit limited, as to my knowledge, keys cannot be individually modified. The modifications must be done to "groups" of keys. There are 4 groups of keys. The WASD keys, the left side of the keyboard, the middle of the keyboard, and everything to the right of right shift. I personally don't need such a high degree of customization, so this doesn't bother me that much, but I know a few others that may have a problem with it. Since first using the laptop, it seems that an extension to the keyboard light controls has been developed, since before it, keys were forced to be just one solid color. The program allows for more elaborate lighting effects if you are into that sort of thing, such as having the keyboard sections flash different colors. The program that helps customize the lights also serves as a very useful hub for various information and controls for the laptop. You can see how hot certain parts of the laptop are running, change the fan speed and performance options (this laptop sounds like it has a very powerful fan!), and it has built-in network booster. To me, it has plenty of slots for things you would want to plug into it (USB, SD cards, HDMI port, etc.), but I recommend that you do your own research to determine whether or not this laptop has enough of what you are looking for in this regard. I suppose the major flaw relating to the components it comes with is a lack of an optical disk drive. In other words, there isn't a slot that opens where you can put disks like CDs, DVDs, etc. There are such things as USB disk drives, but that takes one of the three plugs for USB items on this laptop. It wasn't a deal-breaker for me, but it may be for you depending on what you are looking for. As a gaming tool, this laptop is easy enough for me to use. Anyone who isn't familiar with terminology may struggle some when using stuff like the graphics card's control panel, but you can always use the internet to gain further understanding of something confusing. I know a huge part of a laptop's draw is its portability, and this one is certainly portable. The "power box" on the charging cord is quite large however, and as I said above, sacrifices will probably need to be made when trying to game with this machine while unplugged. Verdict/Summary: This laptop was recommended to me by a friend who is very knowledgeable about computers. He knew that I was pretty new to computer gaming and that what I was looking for was a laptop that was capable of playing some PS4 and Xbox 1 type stuff. After spending a little over a month with this computer I can say that his recommendation was absolutely spot on for what I wanted.

Overall, it is a great working laptop that i feel is geared more towards people who will use it for work with some light gaming on the side. Keyboard/mouse pad I actually enjoy the tactile feedback on this model along with the good key travel. The mouse pad took some getting use to but it also does the job Monitor Coming from a 60hz screen, this 144hx panel is a huge leap. Not to mention it is brighter and colors seem more defined to me. 1080 in my opinion is the sweet spot for laptops if you want to game. CPU/GPU -This is an 8 core AMD CPU that is priced very well. It can handle pretty much anything I throw at it AND it run cooler compared to an intel CPU due to the lower wattage requirements. Although intel has better single core performances, what I really care about is wattage usage and COOLING which this does very well. -The GPU is nothing to write home about but it is not a lower wattage variant off the 1660ti and once again, it doesn't run hot when playing AAA games. Battery life -Never really took the time to fully test it but i was averaging 5 hours on normal/non-gaming use. Wish it would last longer but it is not a dealbreaker. Sidenotes: -It is pretty quiet on idle or light use so I have no issues taking it out in public -I do light the subtle design and the space between the monitor and keyboards doesn't seem to be a problem -My model came with a dead pixel but it wasn't glaring so I kept this model -I got this on sale (300 bucks off) with 16gb and 1 tb for around 1050.00 which in my opinion is a great deal. I wouldn't spend more than that. Final note: I am really happy with this laptop. it meets my portable needs as well as occasional gaming on the go. If you don't have an interest in light gaming, then buy something cheaper.

For the money, this is a killer laptop. I've been researching gaming laptops for months and finally settled on this one. I'm not a newbie to laptops, I've owned many of them over the last 25 years. This thing is amazing. It blows away my desktop that has a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10400 and a GTX 1650. It installed Windows 10 Pro in about 4 minutes. Most gaming laptops have cheap crappy screens to cut costs. The screen on this one is great and runs at 144Hz with a low response time and it's an IPS panel with good color and viewing angles. I've stressed it and it doesn't get too hot and fans are not too loud. Some smart engineering when into this one. It's a winner all around no matter what you want to do with it.

I've had this for a month and a half and this has been great, 1080p 144hz screen, 1 TB of SSD storage, this is PCIe which is way faster than the majority of traditional ssds, so when you search through file explorer, searching your entire system takes a few seconds which is insane, 4-zone RGB is a nice touch, the keyboard feels amazing to type on, and gaming performance is really good, the color of the device looks professional, so you can take this anywhere and it won't stick out with any gamer-esque jagged design, really light and great for video and photo editing, the brand new Ryzen 4800H 8-core 16 thread processor is powerful and very efficient, I get several hours of battery life with moderate usage, if you want an all-round good laptop get this!

For the price, you get a steal. This laptop's build quality and keyboard are top tier. The Ryzen 7 4800H processor excels at photo/video editing, and the 1660ti provides enough horsepower to play most games on high settings in 1080p. But sadly with all this performance comes the drawback of horrendously loud fans. Sure the hardware is kept really cool under load, but even when not running any intensive tasks the fans become way too loud. And if you opt for the AMD model like I did, you can't manually adjust the fan curve. According to the HP rep I talked to, that manual adjustment is left for the Intel models exclusively. HP's bias here is disappointing, given Intel's inability to compete against AMD's wallet friendly heavy hitters.

I have been building custom PC's for nearly two decades, and my current desktop is a Ryzen 9 3900x 12-core, 32gb ram, 2080ti gpu, 1000w platinum psu, and this laptop crunches and games nearly as good! I conducted literally days of research before I decided on this machine, and boy am I glad I bought it. Hands-down, there is NOTHING that will even come close to the astounding performance of this stellar machine, even at double the cost. It plays MS Flight Simulator 2020 on ultra, with nary a stutter. No, THAT is impressive! Especially since I'm crunching BOINC on all cores at the same time! Check out this laptop cpu comparison chart, and you'll see that AMD Ryzen completely dominates Intel...even at lower wattage (battery life!). While the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 may have a slightly better CPU, it does NOT have a webcam. If this is not important to you, and you don't mind paying 50% more for less than 5% of a performance boost, go for it. Otherwise, THIS is the absolute best laptop for your bucks. In summary, unless you spend over $2,000, you won't find a significantly more powerful laptop on the market as of the time of this writing.

Excellent machine build quality. The 1tb NvME is a samsung that clocks at the same speeds as a Samsung Evo Plus in Crystal DiskMark. The system runs very snappy. There don't appear to be any bottlenecks. The amount of vents and fans is impressive. The best airflow ive seen in a laptop in this price range. Should work great with the Ryzen 7. I am going to replace the 16GB of Ram with a 64GB kit, add a second ssd in the second slot, and do a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. Non of these are necessary for most but I'm intending on using it for a mobile workstation, and it seems to have the hardware required to do so.

I originally purchased the 4k variant of this laptop with the 2070 but decided to return it after getting ghosting issues on the keyboard, and kind of wanted to have a Ryzen laptop anyway. So far, it has worked out perfectly for me. It has decent battery life - at least 3 hours, I think it probably gets up to 6 hours with light usage, which isn't bad at all for a gaming laptop. The keyboard works beautifully. I haven't played a ton of different games on it yet, but I have played Doom Eternal and it easily gets 100+ fps at over 1080p, and when I plug it into my 4k monitor with 60 hz, I get 30-40 fps at 4k, and consistently max out the refresh rate of 60 fps at 1440p. In everyday use, this laptop feels subjectively a little faster and more responsive than the 4k variant with the Intel processor. The thing I like the best about this, as a gaming laptop, is the thermals. It just doesn't reach very high temperatures, even after a solid hour of gaming, so I never have to worry that I'm wearing the laptop out with excessive heat. It is hard to think of any flaws with this product. It certainly doesn't have the incredible build quality I'm used to from previous laptops I owned (The Dell XPS line or Macbook Pro line) but considering all the features and power you get for the price, it's not really a point against this laptop. I would recommend this as a top choice to anyone who wants a lot of processing and graphics power (e.g. for gaming) for a relatively low price.

At present, this is probably the best laptop on the market. I underestimated the build quality by miles. So far, I haven’t noticed any issues with the hardware. People have complained about the lid/screen wobble but it seems almost nonexistent in person. You would need to be looking for it to notice. Pros: Runs cooler than any laptop I have ever owned Fantastic, bright display Doesn’t break a sweat running most modern games at Ultra settings Cons: Fans can get a little loud under load. Not anything crazy but noticeable. Though screen flex was greatly overstated in reviews, it does still technically exist and could be a problem if you are traveling with it every day and can’t keep it in its own bag. Barring unforeseen developments, I think this is an almost perfect gaming laptop with spectacular design language and a fresh and earnest consumer experience. Well done, HP.

It’s the best portable PC ever. I wanted something very versatile, something I can game, do hw, and work on. I do all three with this single laptop. What I love about it is that I can take it wherever compared to PC where it’s a hassle to bring on the go. Probably the most convenient purchase made. The graphics are top tier, audio is super great quality, the size isn’t too big or too small and the keys are easy to access things.
