I was skeptical about the high reviews on this product and more skeptical about it being nearly smokeless. I am please to take a few minutes to let you know the ratings are solid. This product is awesome. We have now cooked salmon, burgers, steaks, pork medallions and chicken breasts. All were perfectly done thanks to our selected "doneness" using the integrated thermometer. There are some things you need to know that subjectively are not negatives, but were unexpected surprises. The first is with the noise. It is fairly loud, sort of like a stove exhaust fan on "Hi". Second, is the amount of time it takes to pre-heat. Plan accordingly if you are preparing sides. Next is with what might be a "break-in" odor(?), which was noticeable to me but my wife could not smell it. I was deeply concerned the first few times were going to make the food taste funny, but thankfully this wasn't the case. There were "good" surprises too. We have yet to need anything to prep the grill (oils, sprays, etc). Everything just cooks and does not stick. Lastly, it is the easiest thing I've ever had to clean. We only have had to spray it with hot water in the sink and wipe dry. This alone makes it worth the money! If there is a true a negative, it is with the cooking area. I wish it were a little larger. I know it is already big, but I would gladly pay-up for a larger cooking surface so an extra few burgers or third steak could be done in one cycle.

This is by far the most practical appliance I have ever purchased. I have used this thing every single day since I purchased it. I have used it to toast bagel, roast whole 4lb chickens (recommend removing the backbone), grill burgers and steaks, and cook frozen pizzas (cutting off two corners, of course). Using the included food thermometer, this thing cooks whole chickens, steaks, and burgers to perfection. Oh, and French Fries have never tasted so good! The only thing I haven't cooked are casseroles, soups, and stews, which may be theoretically possible with the included 5qt pan. Basically, if you can cook it in an oven, you can cook it in the Foodi XL Grill. Invest in the combo crisper basket, so you can cook your burgers/steaks and fries at the same time. Just don't start the fries at the same time as your meats (maybe add them half way through), as they require less time to cook than most of your meats. Also if you plan to use this as a broiler/toaster oven, pick up the broiler rack as well. That way you won't have to turn over your food halfway through the cooking cycle. Highly recommended!

Absolutely love my ninja XL. I use this for almost every meal and everything cooks perfectly. My husband actually thinks i can cook now .. lol

I have had this for about a month, and there is definitely a learning curve to it! What I love: - the presets for the thermometer make grilling super easy. Set it and forget it. It will beep when it is done and honestly, the chicken I have cooked this way has come out absolutely perfect. - Roast feature makes the best potatoes I have ever done. Crisp outside, fluffy in side. Roasting broccoli and cauliflower likewise amazing. Working up to roasting protein, probably at the holiday - Bake - the convection oven aspect has made it super easy to quickly cook frozen turnovers - Also really pleased that I can replace my oven for so many things with this. For a single person, I like that I am not spending the time and energy pre-heating the oven and using it for small batches of things. It also doesn't make the kitchen quite as hot as the oven does What I don't love but can live with: - It takes up some real estate! However, for all it does, I can live with it. - I would like there be to more and more comprehensive directions. While it comes with a handy chart for some things, it isn't always clear what I need to do. That means looking for and sorting through youtube and other sites for directions. Info is out there, sure, it just isn't very easy to find. - While the grill parts are pretty easy to clean and mostly dishwasher safe, it is a bit of a chore to wash the splatter shield every time. The mesh requires a little longer drying time and instructions say to wash it between each use. So If I am cooking a meal - say grilling chicken and roasting veggies, it can be a challenge. After the first time, I am washing it between full uses - i.e., after one meal, not after each batch. - Olive oil is right out. Due to the high temps of the unit, low smoke oils are not going to work. I am now using avocado oil. Things they should tell you but don't: -Smokeless, yes. However! Re-close the lid after removing your food or not so much with the smokeless... By the time the unit has cooled down it is fine. The first time I used it I left the unit open to speed cooling. Cue the smoke alarms! So like any new appliance, there are pros and cons. In this case the pros more than make up for the cons. Be prepared to do a little experimenting, but it will be worth it.

Works great from grilling to air frying! Cooked hamburgers to steaks in it and comes out great. Air fryer work great as well. Follow the book and watch and food will be good. Only complaint is you have to wait for it to warm up be before putting food in it. It does take a few minutes for that.

I love ninja grills and this was my starting point. Great product and it really gets the job done. my only gripe was I had an issue with the attached meat temp thermometer where the machine would error and turn off near the end of the cook. didn't really need it but it would have been nice if it had worked better. I have since upgraded to the newer grill and I would recommend that if you liked this unit.

Grilling maid easy, want to try need things and just ajust the time and temp, you can I had given up grilling but now i can grill again consistently and parts are dishwasher safe we have purchased 3 gave 2 as gifts

The Ninja Smart XL was a product we were interested in purchasing, and I decided to buy it for us for the holidays. We have been pleased with the purchase, as it makes it much easier to grill steaks and hamburgers with not much problem, particularly since we live in South Florida, and it can be quite hot sometimes to grill outdoors. It took a couple of tries to get it right, but we have been grilling great meats since. The use of the thermometer also helps as well to verify the temperature of the meat, while the clean-up is easy, with 3 parts inside easy to clean up.

I love rthe grill and air fryer. I like having a probe but I don not use it much. The cleaning brush is an awesome addition.

This is a game changer! My husband and I are travel nurses and this has been a life saver in rented spaces! It is so easy to use even my husband ( who can only make Mac and cheese) uses it 3 nights a week! It’s a miracle!! I love grilling and this suffices my need for a grill! I was shocked at how the meat looks like it’s been on a propane or gas grill! It’s amazing! The air fryer.... where has this been all my life and why did it take me this long to get one!! It’s simply the best. I have nothing to compare it to but it’s so fast and evenly cooks and it’s just the best thing ever! I do wish I could order a couple more splatter screens but there are out of stock! Buy this, you won’t regret it!

Best small appliance I own. It is so very easy and convenient to use. I make hamburgers chicken and steak a lot.

Bought as a gift for my mother. She loved using the thermometer to get meals cooked perfectly, and the brush it came with made the machine easy to clean. However, the buttons didn’t work properly. They had to be pressed really hard in order to work. And she said she found it took too long to preheat.

Steaks, burgers, chicken... whatever your heart desires, this indoor grill is awesome! And, clean up is easy!

I love this thing! I've used all the functions and the food looks and tastes wonderful. Steaks are perfect, grilled or roasted fresh veggies are good.....we are eating healthier. Morning breakfast of bacon, eggs (sunny side up) and English muffins all in one pan, 10 MINUTES and bacon is beautiful. I've gotten rid of my separate air fryer, breakfast sandwich maker and I think I can get rid of my toaster too! I don't have a lot of counter space but I found a place to keep it on my counter because I use it so much. It's also very easy to clean. Highly recommend! Tried to upload pics but it wouldn't let me.
