I originally bought a neato d7 and was highly disappointed. I have a lot of stuff in my house and figured it would be the best with the “laser guides”. However, this vacuum got stuck all the time and wouldn’t find its way back to the dock. The mapping and zone cleaning was good and it did clean well, if it didn’t get stuck. Neatos software updates are garbage as well, get ready for your vacuum to forget everything when there’s an update or for it to stop working.
I finally gave up and got a iRobot i3 and the difference is uncanny! It doesn’t have the “zone cleaning” but it does great cleaning, never gets stuck, and always returns to its dock. Considering the price difference, it’s a much better buy and you can tell that company actually cares about its products. Again, maybe this is because of having so much in my house, but this is the experience I’ve had. I can’t wait to add the mop and watch them follow each other!

We love our iRobot Roomba vacuum. It cleans our entire home and we have tile and wood floors and area rugs and it breeze's through them vacuuming up all the dirt and pet hair, we have cat's and a dog, with no problem leaving our floors clean every day. It runs wirelessly through our Internet gateway, is easy to operate with a free app on my phone, easy maintenance, has 10 times more suction power than previous model's and comes with a warranty. It maps your home and you can set up a schedule for when you want it to vacuum and you can also have it vacuum now. It also notifies you on what it's doing or any needs, like the trash bin needs emptied. When vacuuming is complete it redocks itself for charging on the charger stand. If it is running low on power it will go back to the charging dock and after charging it will go back to the exact same place where it stopped and finish the job. Great quality and value.

I received this item for review as Hurricane Sally approached our Alabama Gulf coast. I had heard positive tales from other Roomba owners, and was anxious to evaluate this model because it is touted to be highly effective with picking up dog and cat allergens. I have a dog and a cat.
Fortunately, our power was still on as the package arrived at our doorstep. I unboxed it, downloaded the Roomba app from Google Play, plugged in its charging station, and connected the Roomba with the software via WiFi. I let the device charge for a couple of hours and ran the vacuum when the software showed it to be fully charged. I hit the run button on the software and a few minutes later the unit turned on and started “doing its thing”. You can also simply press the start button on top of the Roomba to begin a job.
It exited the charging station dock and ran several cleaning rows on the rug in the dining room. It encountered objects in its way, stopped, and changed course to run another row, undeterred. I watched it run down the hall all the way into the living room to chart another cleaning course. The vacuum ran for two and a half hours and found its way back to the charging station. The software told me it was charging, and after the charge was complete (I did not time it), the vacuum started another run to finish its vacuuming task- going back to the un-vacuumed areas. This took another hour and a half. Roomba then went back to the charging station and powered off. The vacuuming job was finished, and without one iota of human intervention in the whole process.
I emptied the dust bin and got a shot of the impressive results which I am posting for this review. That trash can deposit came after only ½ of the first job run while the unit was recharging. The bin was not full by any means.
The software allows setting up a job, for example, where the vacuum runs Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. after you have gone to work. The Roomba could be doing regular maintenance vacuuming and keeping your floors clean without your ever seeing it perform its duties. You can also mate the Roomba software with Alexa or Google so that you can start a job using your voice. I have not gotten to try that yet because Hurricane Sally knocked our power out. Fortunately, I had enough juice in my laptop with LTE to get this review written and submitted.
There are some things the Roomba cannot do. It cannot walk up and down stairs. The best way to use the system on a two-story residence would be to have a Roomba for each floor. Given the “no human intervention” design of the Roomba, I suspect many users with multi-story homes follow that approach.
Does it pick up as thoroughly on one pass as the most powerful upright and canister vacuums? I think the answer to that question is “no”, but I do not think such an expectation is reasonable. If this vacuum detects extra dust or dirt, it will go back over the area several times to complete the job. The end result is quite impressive.
Using this system on a day to day basis is going to keep your floors clean and dust free and to the extent you will not have to do maintenance vacuuming yourself. Your Roomba will have already done it, and that, my friends, is a very pleasant reality.

This little guy is my favorite tech purchase in a long time.
I was really impressed by the Roomba's navigational abilities. It basically has a suspension system and can go almost anywhere. This model works in a straight line pattern versus a reactive, bouncing around pattern. I was hesitant about that at first, but I think that pattern's ideal for carpets like in my apartment. The battery life is also great so it can go for a long job runtime before returning to the dock.
The iRobot app is very clean and polished. It helps you setup the Roomba in a helpful and charming way. You get to name your robot and honestly you'll grow quite attached to it. The scheduling options are great, and the connection between the Roomba and my phone are nearly instantaneous (Note: I'm using an Eero Mesh Pro network). You can even link iRobot to Google Assistant or Alexa. HomeKit/Siri shortcut integration is possible through either IFTTT commands or through Home Assistant. I hope Apple and iRobot create official HomeKit integration in the future.
While this model has map cleaning history, I do wish it had the ability to configure rooms so you can send it to clean individual spaces. I understand that's a feature of the top-of-the-line Roomba models like the i7. I'm not bothered by not having that feature, as seeing the map history from a completed job works just fine.
The only problems I've had - and they were barely issues - were the Roomba getting stuck under a troublesome dresser and it getting a little scuffed up on the top of its plastic bumper. Adding some barriers under the dresser solved that problem. At the end of the day, these are vacuums and they're going to get beat up a bit during their use. I think this Roomba will last for a long time.
In summary, iRobot's Roomba i3 a FANTASTIC home cleaning device in 2021 with powerful integrations. I'm excited to scratch vacuuming off my to do list and hand it over to the Roomba.

My wife wanted one and Santa brought it. It is not an easy thing to setup if you are over 15 years old. One must have their wifi on, have their password and go to the app store on their phone. This is not plug it in and press a button. But, once you go through the setup and let it go for the first time it is absolutely amazing. It will take hours for the robot to map your house. It goes in no apparent pattern going here and there, bumping and turning and going far, then coming back. But it does sweep and clean as advertised. I will buy a few pads or parts to raise a coffee table or other low piece of furniture for it to go under. I can't wait to see what the dog thinks of it. At this point, it is worth buying partly for the entertainment value.

I had to contact irobot technical service after several attempts of my original i3 purchase not working. They exchanged it and I have been using the replacement now for a couple of weeks. So far it has been functioning good with a few exceptions. It's low profile allows it to travel under most of my furniture pieces, including the bed but I have had to retrieve it several times after getting stuck. Also, if you don't start it from the base, it will not return there to charge so I usually pick it up and place it into the room where I need it to clean and return it back to the base, mostly due to get the job done in my time frame. It negotiates the transition from hard floor to rugs well with the exception of a thick shag area rug and when it does, it is not able to travel across it. Fortunately, it finds its way off the shag and gets back onto the hardwood. I am happy with the cleaning job and it is nice not having to push a vacuum around and more time for other things. The model which empties its dirt compartment would be an upgrade I would recommend but if you don't mind cleaning it out manually, the i3 is a good model for the price.

The robot does a good job of vacuuming up my cat's kitty litter she likes to drag around the main floor. I haven't seen it actually follow a pattern (which hurts my ocd tendencies) however it seems to be speeding up the cleaning process as it's learning my rooms.
It has a little bit of difficulty in getting litter and small gravel from the corners by the door, but has been very good and cleaning it from other areas. It's able to navigate my higher pile living room rug and has only gotten caught up once on my throw rug.
The downside for me is that I have to be a little bit more vigilant in checking the area to be cleaned before she heads out than I thought I would. Cords need to be off the floor as it's pulled on lamps and tv stuff if the cord is on the floor. It did completely knock over a light-weight cat bowl full of moist food once, but heavier weight bowls it slightly slides on the vinyl. All in all, my Rosie cleans up while I focus on other things so she's helpful, but not yet "amazing"

I didn't have high expectations for the i3 EVO. I have a higher end iRobot vacuum and purchased this one for my upstairs. I wish it were a bit smarter with mapping things out while vacuuming. I had to send it out a couple of times to map the area, then I was able to tell it to avoid certain areas.
The i3 EVO was smart enough to not fall down stairs, though it looked like it was going to hurl itself off the top stairs. It was about 1/3rd of the way off before reversing itself the first couple of times. Now it stays on the edge of the top stairs and is smart enough to not get too close.
The vacuum takes about 45 minutes to clean four rooms and a small hallway. It isn't as fast as my other one, but it is good enough for my needs. I went with the i3 EVO because it tries to vacuum in straight lines instead of just meandering. The carpet looks better with the straight lines and the i3 EVO also included better rotational brushes that clean pet hair.
The bin is easy to empty, it does fill up faster than I expected. Either it's doing a good job cleaning and/or my upstairs is dirtier than I previously thought. I'm able to control the i3 EVO with both Alexa and Google Home, I don't have issues commanding either assistant to send the vacuum out to individual rooms or the whole upstairs.
People wanting a good, first robotic vacuum or a secondary one would be fine with this. It isn't as fancy as iRobot's more expensive models, and I do think it is worth upgrading to get the charging dock/bin combo, but this does the trick and works great with pet hair.

Great for pet hair and on wood and carpets. Has a spinning brush on the side that is good for corners as well. So far, so good! Not sure I would spend the extra money on the debris container. Pretty easy to empty from cycle to cycle.

I love that this gets under furniture that I couldn’t reach with an upright vacuum! I purchased this model to save a bit, the self-emptying models are more expensive. I just empty the dustbin after every use. Not a big deal. Worth the savings to me! I do only run this while at home because when it was programmed to run when I was out, it got caught up in my curtains that hang down a few feet onto the floor. I just make sure the curtains are up and little things are picked up (socks for instance) before running it. I’m very happy with the convenience of using the i3. It also works much better than I expected on plush carpeting in my bedroom, is great on my tile and wood floors. I definitely recommend this, it does a thorough job.

I purchased this product close to a month ago. It does a good job clean my room. The only issues I have had is sometime it tell me to clean the bin out but there nothing in it. The dirt some time get stuck in between the bin and brushes. Make sure to clean that from time to time. It does get annoying when that does happen. Because I have my clean schedule set when I leave the house. some time when that does happen it stop the clean process and it doesnt clean until I come back and empty out the bin. But I do have it set to stop clean when bin is full. You can change that setting the app. The other issue is it doesn’t clean around or near where the home base station is located. So you will have to clean that area or move the home station while roomba is cleaning. When you get your roomba for the first time. It can do a smart map. When you first do this process you are going to have move things around such as shoes or backpack or anything that on the floor. And when it finish the smart mapping you can set boundaries and label. You will be able to tell roomba clean certain section of the house. Overall it’s great vacuum this my first roomba I love it so far.

So I debated on whether to get a Roomba that sweeps in straight lines or an off brand vacuum that haphazardly bounces all over. With the thick carpet we have, we can see the vacuum lines and I can say I’m supper happy we went with this one. The suction appears to be strong because I have to empty the bin after every use, or in the middle of a cycle (we don’t use it for everyday vacuuming). I definitely feels it works better on carpet than hard floors, but it does a decent job on our hard floors. I’ve never looked at it and been disgusted by the few small pieces pushed aside on the hard flooring. It definitely beats having to bring out the upright vacuum or broom every day.

Absolutely love this robo vac. I've owned two different brands (including this one) in the past two years. This one is much, much better than the other. It NEVER gets stuck which is fantastic. It always finds it charging hub too! So, when the battery is running low the vac will make it's way to the charger and then take off again to finish the job after it has charged. These points are major for us, because we have pets at home and like to know that we come home to a clean floor after work.
There have been a couple of times when the vac seemed to get jammed with fuzz under the rollers as opposed to filling the bin, but this has been rare and it still cleaned the floors so... Not a huge gripe! :D

It comes out 3 days a week at a set time and more if you like. It lives under the tv stand so it’s never in the way. My floors have never been cleaner. You do have to give it a bit of attention, just dump the reservoir and clean the filters, a lot like cleaning a lint trap in the dryer. I can’t send it out to specific locations as implied by the video. I was a bit disappointed but I’m over it. I may have gotten a newer model if I realized but it doesn’t take long just to vacuum everything and I can send it out with the app.
