Customers appreciate the K845 Full-size Wired Mechanical Tactile Keyboard for its mechanical feel, clicky keys, and responsive typing experience. Many users find the backlighting useful, especially for late-night use. The compact size and wired connectivity are also seen as advantages. However, some users find the keyboard to be too loud for certain environments, and a few dislike the font used on the keys.

Great for Gamers and Typing

There are 3 types of mechanical switches:
Linear, Tactile, and Clicky.
Linear is straight down, nothing is stopping the key, no a bump before the press is registered. You will get the fastest response from linear keys but they are prone to making mistakes when typing.
I've tried lots of mechanical keyboards, this one by far is the best one I've used. It is not that quiet nor as loud as the Clicky keyboards.
If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard without the nonsense complications (software downloads, RGB configurations, light profiles, etc), this keyboard is for you.

The keys on the Logitech-K845 wired Keyboard sits high, which is how I like them! It makes it easier for me to type faster. That along with the noise of the keyboard reminds me of the old typewriter I used to have. Also, I like the fact that the keys light up when I turn it on, very nice! It’s an awesome keyboard! I’m very happy that I found this one, I like it even better than the other models, and the price was right! It would be even better if it was wireless!

Overall this keyboard is good for the price. The switches are consistent however the lighting is sub-par in my eyes. The lack of an adjustable wire, dedicated media controls, and even a small wrist rest was quite disappointing but did not take away from the feel of the keyboard. If you are looking for an entry-level mechanical keyboard, and do not care about lighting, media keys, or wrist rest, this is a nice keyboard. It feels good to type on and the 'red' switches do feel similar to a cherry MX red switch. If you can splurge more for your keyboard, go get a higher-end model like a razer Blackwidow tenkeyless, or a higher-end Logitech keyboard.

I really like typing on this keyboard. Good tactical feel with the brown switches. Just enough clicky without too much clicky. I am happy with this purchase.

Seems very solid, well-made and likely to hold up better than did its predecessors, which were membrane keyboards. Since I’m no speed-typist and not going to be using this keyboard to write any books, essays or even letters, it’s probably a bit more than I need but at this price and with this build, I won’t complain.

I have to type a lot. During the course of the work day it becomes more and more harder to type as fatigue sets in. This keyboards soft touch mechanical keys reduce the fatigue and the satisfaction of the keys contact. The tactile response of keys and sound of the keys lets me know that the key has been typed. On the other hand my previous membrane keyboard also does the same job but does not give the new keyboards sound and feel

I needed a new keyboard quickly for a new project computer. I prefer the feedback and "clickiness" of mechanical keyboards but the prices for most are just not what I'm willing to pay for a keyboard. This hits the sweet spot of responsiveness, build quality, and price. I like the key feedback and it is easy to type on.

Great Minimalist Board for Windows and Linux

First of all, we can all do perfectly fine with a cheap $15 key membrane keyboard. But mechanical keyboards are nicer, look cooler and feel more analog and old school. I use this keyboard for coding, gaming, writing and creating.
I was going to get a Bluetooth keyboard but didn't want to deal with driver problems, batteries going bad and not being able to use the keyboard in the BIOS.
The white backlight is also really convenient and there is no RGB or specialized software to worry about. The keys aren't too loud as long as you get the Linear Red keys ($60 version), and it doesn't take much effort to press the keys. Also I like the minimalist non-gamer look of this keyboard. The aluminum top panel will hopefully be more durable and also looks good.
So in summary, it's a functional mechanical keyboard that just works and has a convenient backlight. It's minimalist and has everything you need without unnecessary bells and whistles that can break or malfunction or require extra software.
Because there is no software or fancy RGB, this will work fine for Linux users or people who deal with the BIOS or random niche systems a lot.
There are cheaper mechanical keyboards out there like the Red Dragon, but the Logitech one is still great, from a well-known company, and I can actually buy it inside a physical store.

Bought this for my home office setup as typing on the laptop keyboard can get tiresome. Excellent key feel and the size is perfect! Doesn't have tons of extra buttons on the sides or top which makes it fit nicely in front of the laptop. It is very easy to adjust the backlight pattern and intensity through the built in keyboard combos.

The construction of the keyboard is good and the aluminum materials in it give it a quality feel. Also the keys give nice mechanical feedback and sound and travel. However, there is software you download from Logitech to enable you to customize some of the keys and I found the software to be totally incompatible with this keyboard and/or my totally up to date windows 10 system. The software was TOTALLY useless and therefore I am unable to access the customizable features of my keyboard. I contacted Logitech and they were responsive but in no way did they solve the problem or make the software work in any way. The software DOES NOT even recognize this keyboard. The techs seemed to be unaware of how this worked and finally they stopped communicating. I would normally return this product, and Best Buy is good about returns, but the keyboard basic function is fine and I do like the mechanical feel so who knows. But I would not recommend it. PS I have many other Logitech products that all worked flawlessly over many years so this keyboard/software issue is a real surprise and a one off.

This is my first mechanical keyboard. For the price, it provides a much-needed upgrade over the laptop keyboard. Obviously, there is not wrist support so take that into consideration. I like the feel of the switches; I got the ones that click but don't have much / any resistance. Beware, don't type on a conference call; they will hear you!

Needed to replace my Dell keyboard and the Logitech
K845 Linear offered at Best Buy has been a great replacement.
What I really like is that it glows softly up at night when all lights
are turned off - gives the room just enough light that one doesn't
bank or trip into things.
