Great at blending up and breaking down some seeds and nuts in an emulsion of other vegetables. Some leafy greens get stringy and plugs the holes. Getting food from under the blades is a challenge. The switch to change speed is positioned where its too easy to hit when holding and running the power button. Gets a little warm.

I couldn’t wait to try out the Vitamix Immersion Blender. It is larger than I expected about 17” of mostly stainless steel. I cleaned it following included instructions as recommended. I decided to make smoothies for my husband and me. We sliced a fresh apple, dumped in frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple chunks, a small cup of vanilla ice cream and a handful of ice cubes. I added a cup of milk. I turned on the power and set the speed to low as suggested. Nothing happened. Of course I quickly realized that I needed to hold the power button down in bursts. The Vitamix had all the ingredients beautifully blended in less than a minute. It is a power stick! The apple, ice cubes, frozen fruit, everything were smooth and creamy in the blink of an eye. It is so easy to use that I will never pull out all those blender pieces again. This will easily work in a tall stock pot. The cord is quite long and of course the Vitamix, as I said, is tall. The controls are placed perfectly and the stick is well balanced. Looking forward to some special soup this winter. I think any true foodie would be proud to have this in their kitchen.

    Quality, power and variable speed

Every person serious about cooking needs a hand blender (immersion blender). We've had several different ones over the years but this one is the real deal. There are so many great features about this blender to like, it's hard to know where to start. Lets begin with the motor. Solid and powerful. The start up is very smooth and doesn't blast drinks out of a glass. You can feel the quality in the build as soon as you pick it up. It's got some good weight because of the motor but not so much that it wears you out. The solid body also helps minimize any vibration normally felt in plastic blenders. The variable speed is a really nice touch. I've never seen this feature on a hand blender and it really comes in handy as you go from mixing things in a glass, like a smoothie, to using it in a large pot full of soup and veggies. The grip is very comfortable in your hand and your fingers naturally wrap around to the buttons on the front side. The stainless steel design makes for easy cleanup and the lower half comes off with a twist to rinse or put in the dishwasher. I especially appreciated the length of this blender. It works very well in deep hot pots and keeps your hand away from the heat. We've wanted a longer immersion blender for a long time and this one has all the features we were looking for. Four blades work much better than the normal two that other blenders use and makes quick work of whatever your mixing. The rubbery end of the blender ensures a quiet operation and doesn't mar your pots. A good quality cord with a nice cord keeper echos the quality of the rest of the appliance. This blender is a real pleasure to use and I can't wait for an excuse to make something else with it. Really nice design and quality build. I look forward to years of use.

    Throw the others away

Throw away your other immersion blenders. This one is heavy, sturdy and a monster at breaking down various foods. Whether its frozen, solid, cold, grainy or hot, this handles it with ease. My favorite part is that I’m able to use this in my slow or instant cooker without damaging the pots. I can also safely use it in other containers, like glass without worrying about it. It is quality made, no cheap plastics. The handle has a non-slip coating that allows it to feel secure and easy to hold and operate with one hand. It has 5 speeds, and lights up at the top when changing speeds so you can easily see what speed you’re at. You can easily detach the blender portion from the handle for easy cleaning. I usually make my smoothies in a big blender and make more than I need but this has changed the game for me in the last several days. I’ve made my daily smoothies and I’ve used this in my instant pot while making a soup. The only complaint that I have is I wish it came with a storage bag. For the price and the quality we should be able to protect it when storing it away.

    Simple Yet Powerful

I’ve been able to use this immersion blender for about a week. So far, it’s proven to be a strong performer and a real threat to my older, higher-end blender that I’ve had for about 2 years. The Vitamix has shown itself to be every bit as powerful. We make a lot of smoothies & soups, but we also have a family member that requires meals through a feeding tube; so, our blenders get a serious workout. This Vitamix has been able to handle everything from a bullet-proof coffee, to cauliflower mash, to fruit smoothies, to full meal blends. The unit comes with one removable/washable bladed wand, & there are no additional attachments. I like the simplicity of the controls. The handle is very ergonomic & fits my hand perfectly, making it easy to hold the power button while maneuvering the stick. It has 5 speeds, but I rarely have to use max power. The bell guard is made of a hard plastic, which is a nice feature. I can freely use as much pressure as I need without worrying about scratching my pans or containers vs. my current unit which is stainless steel and can leave scratches. Big Negative: The cord. While it could be that I’m just spoiled from using my cordless blender for so long, I find the cord on the Vitamix annoying. Although it’s 5 ft long, which is plenty of length for most kitchens, I constantly have to use my free hand to hold the cord up & out of the way. It’s especially a problem when using it on the stovetop. Big Plus: The bell guard’s unique design prevents the blade from creating too much suction. If you’ve ever had to clean up the splatter from a sudden release of suction while blending a soup or a green juice in a mason jar, you’ll really appreciate this unit.

At every turn, can’t help but endorse the Vitamix brand, especially since my 5200 blender has been doing daily heavy lifts in my kitchen for over 30 years. Yet another testament to the durability of their product line, I still have their long discontinued VitaVac, a beast of a vacuum cleaner that will outlive me. Back to 2020, Vitamix has delivered another level of convenience with its version of a stick blender. For blends of soups, sauces, hummus, guacamole, salad dressings and single serve smoothies or fruit bowls, I find cleanup faster than with the 5200 blender’s large carafe. I just add water to the used container, add 1-2 drops of liquid detergent, bring the blender up to level 3 or more of its 5 speeds. In seconds, the container AND the wand are clean! For storage, the base gets a quick wipe then one twist separates the wand from the base. No clean up required of a full sized blender’s rubber top, plunger, rubber platform with its creases and crevices and those of its large carafe. So, even on a hectic day, the immersion blending option doesn’t leave me with the attention to detail required by my full sized blender, resulting in the pressure of a time consuming cleanup before I leave or after returning home. For my first try, at 625 watts (less than half the watts of my countertop blender), just a little extra run time turned ice, kale, hard chunks of ginger, a few layers of frozen fruit, drops of stevia, and almond milk into a smoothie that competes with the big machine. So, for boats and RVs, this would be the lighter, more space and energy efficient tool to satisfy a smoothie habit while making fast work of other small and large recipes. Attachments are forthcoming. I suspect, as well, the Immersion Blender will soon be posted for buyers to receive purchase points at the www.Vitamix.com/rewards program. In my book, a cordless version of this stick blender would be much appreciated; but, only if a lithium battery can make the unit lighter to maintain one-handed ease. Otherwise, cord length is not stingy, affording a good range of mobility. Great tool for the foodie!

    A powerful and versatile blender

This Vitamix blender is a very powerful tool for any kitchen warrior. It is a quality product and the design is very well thought. It’s easy to store the blender as you can disassemble the blender into two parts, which also makes cleaning job easy. Using the hand blender is very easy but I recommend people to read the manual and watch the demo video provided by Vitamix in order to learn the right technique when using the hand blender. Our family use hand blender to make smoothies and I particularly find it very useful to make a blend of Asian spices for traditional culinary dishes. It makes blending job more precise as you can control the speed and area of impact so that you would have more control over the texture. We’ve been using a hand blender from different brand before but this one is the more powerful. The blender is powerful enough to crush ice so it’s a great tool to make your favorite smoothies. Overall a nice quality product by Vitamix.

Full Disclosure: I received this product through Best Buy’s Tech Insider Network in exchange for an honest evaluation and an unbiased review. Weighing in at 2 pounds, 10 ounces and standing nearly 18 inches tall, this Vitamix Immersion Blender is a beast! I have never seen one this well-made. It is made mostly of metal with a little bit of a tough synthetic here and there. One of the places Vitamix used synthetics was in the bell or blade guard. A lot of professional chef-style immersion blending occurs right in the cookware like sauce pans. So Vitamix gave their Immersion Blender a unique bell guard that won't scratch the non-stick coating on your expensive cookware and bowls. The top four inches of the motor housing is the handgrip which is made of a rubberized material making it nonslip and very easy to hold on to. There are only two very simple controls: an on/off button and a speed control button. The on/off button is not a standard two position on/off switch. It is actually a push and hold switch. Pushing the button in activates the motor which will run as long as you hold the button in. Releasing the button will stop the motor. Think of it like a trigger. The speed control button increases the speed one increment with each push of the button. After you reach the fifth preset speed, which is the highest speed, another push of the button will drop the speed down to the first preset speed, which is the lowest speed. You can use the speed control button to select a speed prior to activating the motor or you can activate the motor and then change preset speeds while operating the blender. There are five LED lights on the top of the blender that light up to indicate which speed the blender is set to. Yes, of course, we used this blender way below its station by using it to make us some wonderful milkshakes. It wasn't insulted and it used its power to turn some pretty hard ice cream into some pretty pleasing milkshakes. Next, we used it to blend the yokes for a batch of deviled eggs. It gave us the smoothest yolk mixture we've ever had. The mixture was not grainy at all. They were a hit. We also used it to quickly whip up some scrambled eggs for breakfast several mornings. Each time we ended up with the smoothest, most fluffy scrambled eggs we've ever had. They were incredible! My 9-year-old granddaughter couldn't get enough of them and she's very picky about her scrambled eggs. After we fried chicken in a deep skillet we used this immersion blender right in the cookware to turn the leavings, flour, and milk into the finest gravy we've ever ate. It was so creamy we couldn't believe it. All the solids in the leavings were completely blended into the gravy. This only added to the flavor which was phenomenal. This Vitamix Immersion Blender is by far the best immersion blender our family has ever owned. Over the years, our family has worn out an unknown number of cheaper wand blenders. Maybe five or six. But, this Vitamix may be the last immersion blender we ever own. And if it does ever wear out, I guarantee you we will buy another one just like it. Vitamix does back up this blender up with a 3 year, best in the industry, FULL warranty, but I doubt you will ever need it. My whole family and I can enthusiastically recommend this Vitamix Immersion Blender to anyone looking for a premium immersion blender. So go ahead and spend the extra money because you won't be disappointed in any way.

    Great Blender - but heavy

I was surprised at just how heavy - for me - this blender is. That is my big con with it and why it lost a star. Now, on the plus side, due to the coating on it, I am able to rest it in my pan without worry about scratching the pan. It does have a good grip on it and, someone with more strength than me, will easily be able to use it with one hand. My gourmet SOL loves it and has no trouble wielding this blender. I regularly add riced cauliflower and broccoli to my sauces but that means you can see the little lumps. I used this on my spaghetti sauce and it pureed the veggies that were in it so now I was able to have a hearty sauce with no lumps - a benefit as the grandkids don't like lumpy spaghetti sauce. As long someone has the strength, this is a good option.

This is my first encounter with an Immersion Blender and it was a good one!! Out of the box I found a sturdy, well built blender! It is however heavier than I anticipated which is not a bad thing just didn't expect it. It was easy to assemble just twist the 2 pieces together and you are good. I like that the controls are right at your fingertips and it is a one handed appliance - being able to add ingredients with the other free hand if needed. There are 5 speeds and a LED light on the top of the handle to let you see which lever you are on. It also has a longer cord to make it easier if you are working a little further from an outlet. It has a hard plastic cover over the blade end, but it would be nice if this was a more durable longer lasting cover. It turns off as soon as you let go of the power button which I view as a great safety item! The immersion piece is dishwasher safe but I preferred to put it into a jar with soap and water to clean it - much quicker and easy. I found making a smoothie for my son so easy with this instead of pulling out the blender. Just added the ingredients as suggested in the booklet right into a large 4 cup measuring cup and then transferred into his blender/travel cup. He even stated that it was easy enough for him to do going forward!! I also made a broccoli cheddar soup that was smooth and creamy and so simple to do in the pot. I pulled out some of the cooked broccoli before I blended it and added it back on top with a little extra shredded cheese when serving. This is a great addition to my shelf of appliances that I'm sure will be used many times a week for smoothies and meals. Great job Vitamix!!

High power, high quality immersion blender. The multi-speed feature enables you to match the power to the task. Use high speed to blend ice into smoothies or low speed to mix flavored butter or sauces. As easy to clean as non-stick surfaces, though I don't think it specifically claims to be. All you need to do is fill a cup with water, add a drop of dishwashing soap, blend it on low for a few seconds, then rinse and dry. Highly recommend.

Vitamix always makes a good product and this is no exception. We've already made some great soups with it and we anticipate being able to make some great baby food in a few months as well. The one drawback this unit has is that you have to hold down the power button and can't change the speed while the blender is running. I wish there was a feature that allowed you to lock the unit to the on position and change the speed on the fly. Other than that, I would highly recommend this product.

Over the years one acquires some blender experience. I think a blender was my first "adult" appliance purchase. This little guy is backed by a 3 year warranty and feels like it was built to last. 625 watts seems like a lot for a handheld blender. Depending on what you want to do with it, that might be more than plenty. What I loved: the lowermost part of the blade guard is plastic, even though the shaft of the blender is stainless steel. This keeps you from scratching any of your non-stick cookware if you're using it in those. The build is solid and this thing is well made. Easy to clean and durable, with multiple blending speeds available under your fingertip while you're using it. What I didn't love: You need a plan for using this blender. If there are things that need to be broken completely down in your smoothie/blended food, it might struggle a little. Chunks of ice or whole nuts will leave you desiring your countertop blender in this case. Overall this thing is great and was just the product to push me over the edge into the immersion blender biz. I will be keeping this at hand in my kitchen for a long time. I would recommend!

The unit was easy to assemble and the instructions/recipe book was a nice extra. The blender feels very solid and well made and the extra weight seemed to help reduce vibration when chopping/blending. We made vegetable soup and the blender was a great deal better than previous methods - very smooth and even consistency. Washing up the unit afterwards was painless, the stainless steel finish looks great, being able to break it down after use also means we could store it in a shallow drawer. We are very pleased with this hand blender.

I got this as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Program, and I am loving it. I love making soups but always stuck to the basics like chicken noodle and stews. Getting the Vitamix Immersion blender has opened the door to more exciting and tasty soups. It has no problem blending up hearty vegetables and potatoes to a creamy consistency. I also love that it has a silicon base so I don't have to worry about scratching my ceramic or Teflon pots. I love this blender and highly recommend it to anyone who likes to cook.
