I received the Astro Gaming A30 Wireless Dolby Atmos Gaming Headset for Xbox, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android with Detachable Boom Mic. I find it to be very sleek, lightweight, stylish and comfortable, haven't had any problems or discomfort using for hours at a time.
The Astro A30 has swivel mounted earcups so that the headset can lay flat or when stowed away in the included hard carrying case. On the left earcup is a switch for muting the microphone as well as ports for a 3.5mm cable and the detachable microphone, on the right earcup are the power button and status light, Bluetooth button, and a four-way control stick, pushing up or down will change the volume while left or right will change the game/chat balance. The plates on each side of the headset can be replaced to customize to your preferences.
The speakers used are 40mm dynamic drivers that provide good sound and clarity. An on-ear joystick control enables you to mute, mix, adjust volume, play, pause and more.
The boom mic you have plug and unplug, you can't swivel the mic to mute it, you have to feel for the button when you want to mute it, which can be a little distracting when your gaming.
In addition to the detachable boom mic and swappable speaker tags, the ear cushions are also magnetic and can be easily removed and replaced.
The battery is pretty good, a single charge provides more than 27 hours of battery life, which is great! Another good feature is the headset will turn off once no movement has been detected after 30 minutes to help save battery usage.
Overall this is a great headset with multiple uses not just for gaming.

Pros :
Sound cancelling is amazing.
Connects easily ( too easily I will talk about it in the cons)
The mic is good when using on xbox, it cancels out a lot of background noise it's not extremely sensitive so really good if you have a fan or air conditioner in the background (unless it's right next to you)
Battery life really good.
It's comfortable not too tight and doesn't sit too heavy on the top of your head.
Cons.
I kept hearing this beeping sound and I couldn't understand why, it wasn't until I realized that it was connecting and disconnecting from my phone while also connected to my PC but not when I was on my xbox.

Top tier headphones from Astro

I've tested and tried many headsets in my lifetime and I'd say the Astro A30s rank up near the top of my headset list. First, I'll list off the things I love about this headset - it feels super lightweight and does not leave that annoying dent in your hair. The clasp around the ears are super nice and tight without being uncomfortable, definitely the best headset I've had in terms of noise isolation simply from the clasp of the headset.
Another really cool feature is the Bluetooth connectivity. Not only that but you can have dual connectivity to your pc/xbox and phone at the same time, this was a really cool feature to be able to hear phone notifications while gaming. Of course you can turn this off. Not only can you use these as your gaming headset, but also your daily headset for on the go travel and music. And speaking of the music, the sound on these things are great for it out of the box.
Logitech claims that these have about 27 hours of battery life and so far that seems to be accurate. USB-C charging is a huge plus as well and I'm glad its now a standard in most headsets. Also comes with a Detachable mic which sounds decent, it's not going to beat your average USB microphone, but its definitely one the better headset microphones.
Now for a two things that I didn't like about these headphones. As far as I can tell, you can ONLY use the Logitech mobile app to adjust audio settings. The Astro app on the PC does not currently work with these headsets. My other complaint is that I had to do some manual EQ tuning for most games, which to be fair, I've had to do that with most of my headsets but a list of presents on the app would be really nice.
TL;DR: These headphones have a lot to offer to not only gamers, but also music lovers. Sound is amazing, lightweight but nice and comfortable, Bluetooth connectivity is great, and the battery life is long lasting. Very few cons.

Great for everyday use and not just gaming

These are almost perfect for all around use and not just gaming. I really do like that these headphones were designed for gaming, but actually function quit well in everyday settings. I have used these headphones for zoom meetings at work, listening to music on my phone, and playing games at home. These headphones are the jack of all trades! I like how they have Bluetooth built in so you can essentially use it with any device. You also get a USB adapter for a faster wireless connection, or you can plug directly in with a headphone jack. This means you can pretty much use these headphones for everything, and they are not just dedicated to a computer, xbox, playstations, etc.
Connecting to my computer was very easy, just plug in the USB adapter and you are all set. My computer recognized the headset, and I didn't have to make any adjustments to work. Next I bluetooth paired it with my cell phone, again no issues and worked right away. I also downloaded the Logitech app so you can make additional adjustments. Next was an XBox, again no issue and everything worked great! The boom mic worked great on all of them and I like how you can detach the mic or adjust to your comfort.
Now to my favorite part about these headphones. You can connect multiple sources and use them at the same time. What this meant for me was playing a game on my computer along with playing music from my phone. I love this feature; I play racing games and the in-game music sometimes is horrible. This allows me to hear the game and play my own music all through these headphones and is so easy to do! You can also control the volume of each one, so you can have the music be background and your game being more prominent.
I gave the headphones only four stars because the white color is super white. These will get dirty and look gray after some time. They look great now, but I'm sure over time they will look dirty. The second, even though they sounded great they still lacked a little in the sound department. I'm very picky with my headphones and while these are totally fine, I just thought they could be a little better overall. If these were my only headphones, I would totally be fine with it, but I have other over the ear headphones in a similar price range that sound better. However, my other headphones cannot play multiple sources of sound at one time.
The headphones come with a carrying case (huge plus), that can hold the USB adapter, included charging cable, and analog cable (headphone cable). You can also customize the plastic covers on the side of the headphones. If you go to the manufacture's website, you can create or pick from different customizations. I thought that was a nice touch if you want to add your own branding to the headphones.
At the end of the day, you cannot go wrong with these headphones. They sound great and work perfectly for everyday use and not just gaming. I'm sure anyone will be happy to own these even if they only do light gaming.

The sound, comfort, set-up, connectivity, and battery life are top notch on this headset. Two complaints - the microphone is detachable, but stiff. I wish I could move it around more instead of having to completely detach it to get it out of my face. My second issue is the customization. Astro's website used to have a customization tool for the speaker tags on this headset. It has been "down" for quite some time. Bit of a bummer.

Attractive/great sound but room for improvement
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
General overview: Very attractive looking headphones with clear sound quality but the just decent mic and lack of instructions/feature set could be improved.
Packaging: starting off with the packaging this was really nice experience. Great presentation, easy opening experience with no tape or plastic around. This is the type of opening experience everyone should strive for.
The only issue I had was not immediately realizing that you are supposed to push the box out of the outer sleeve.
Inside the box there is a carrying case, containing the headphones, the boom mic, 3.5mm cable and USB-A to USB-C charging cable, as well as a single sheet depicting how to turn on, how to pair with Bluetooth, as well as a QR code for the associated mobile store app.
I am disappointed to see there isn't any sort of included info regarding the actual features of the headset with that info instead being relegated to the welcome tour for the mobile app.
Not everyone is going to connect the headphones to their phone and then install the app to see how to use the various functions. Even just a single leaflet explaining the functions would suffice.
Looks/build quality: These headphones are probably the most attractive ones I've ever seen as well as the most comfortable. The white model really meshes well with many of the looks of current consoles and doesn't look gaudy or too "gamery". The ear cup tags on the back have a nice rainbow-likw reflective quality to them and the fact that you can replace them/customize them separately is great for making them your own.
The headphones are extremely comfortable. These feel extremely light and have excellent cushioning on the headband/ear cups yet at the same time they are breathable and remain cool even while gaming for an extended period of time.
They're also surprisingly stable for having very little clamping pressure which makes them great for both extended use as well as glasses users where you don't get the sort of pressure on the temples that many other headphones normally produce.
The only nitpick I have is that it's not immediately clear how to adjust the length of the ear cups down.
There are tabs with indents on both sides that look like you would pull down directly but you're actually meant to slide the inner band up and down through it, which could be more clear and also is not smoothest of actions but not enough to get into it.
Sound quality: The sound quality on these are really good. It offers a well balanced sound for a variety of uses. I also like that it doesn't try to change the sound but does enable you to hear a lot of the details in the sound at lower volume than you might otherwise need to.
Using these with Dolby Atmos you do get that bubble of sound as well as surprising bass response. The audio quality does vary tho depending on how you're connecting to a device however.
Using the USB wireless transmitter with the Xbox produced the best sound. Bluetooth was a mixed bag with it sounding great with my phone but very poor with the Nintendo switch.
The included 3.5mm cable produced great results with both the switch and the PS5 tho I did need to fiddle with the cable a bit initially to get stereo sound from the PS5.
Mic quality: the mic quality itself seems serviceable enough. Tested it out with a few of my friends in a party with both the internal microphone as well as the attachable boom mic.
Impressions were mixed with both options being louder than my usual headset of choice but not necessarily clearer or better.
There seemed to be a bit of echo with both microphone options but they all seemed to prefer the internal microphone much more than the boom mic which to them sounded way off.
Features/controls: so as mentioned previously there an assortment of controls on both ear cups.
The left features the mic mute switch, the 3.5mm Jack as well as the boom mic port to connect to. The right ear cup has the power button, the Bluetooth button, charging port as well as a little control nub.
The USB transmitter itself also has a button to switch between console mode and PC mode with an equivalent control available through the app.
The worst part about the control scheme is the control nub. It's intended to be used to control both the volume as well as the game/chat balance.
However there's no audio feedback when moving the nub to tell if it's actually doing anything until you get to the end of a specific range.
It's also surprisingly hard to actually locate the nub by feel when wearing the headphones. I'd much would've preferred two separate rockers for the volume and the balance that may have been easier to navigate by feel.
The app also contains the controls for the balance/volume, the PC/console switch as well as some additional settings not available directly such as the DSP preset (Immersive/footsteps) as well as the ability to create your own custom equalizer settings.
The headset is able to connect to multiple sources simultaneously, which allows you to use the headset wirelessly with an Xbox but still control the functions through the app on your phone through Bluetooth.
I can definitely see this being beneficial where you may be playing a game with the audio on your headphones but also maybe on a discord call or other app on your phone to communicate with others.
I've been in this situation before and this kinda if setup would have been greatly appreciated.
I do have a issue though with these Xbox edition headphones being as they're advertised as being compatible with switch and ps5 but that's not entirely true, at least wirelessly.
These were my first Xbox headphones and while I knew previously that Xbox used a specific wireless protocol that made the USB transmitter incompatible with ps5 (hence the separate PS5/Xbox editions). I did not know this extended to the switch. Plugging the transmitter into the switch dock didn't seem to give any issues. It lit up as expected and gave me the USB audio controls on the switch menu but I couldn't get any sound out from it.
It took me going to Astro's how to connect to switch video to discover that you would need to connect using the 3.5mm jack or a separate usb-c adapter connected to the switch directly.
Judging from some other research I've done, I assume that the playstation edition USB transmitter would not have the same limitation and would properly transmit the audio when connected to the switch dock.
I do wish that this fact had been actually communicated through any sort of material making them really only wireless with Xbox/windows PC or mobile devices through Bluetooth.
A novel idea that would be appreciated is maybe just not having separate editions in the first place and just including both the Microsoft specific adapter as well as the more general use PlayStation adapter in the same box however unlikely this is to happen.
Overall, I think these headphones are very good for sound quality, comfort, and looks and can serve a very good usage case with its multi-point audio capabilities.
However be mindful of which edition your purchasing since it may influence which devices you can actually connect to wirelessly.

A great Upgrade from the pervious A30 Model

The Astro Gaming A30 Wireless Dolby Atmos Gaming Headset is a great up from the previous model. As someone who has strictly used Astro gaming headsets over the past 5 years, I can say without a doubt they have nailed it with this upgrade. I immediately noticed that this headset would not update with the Astro command center software that I have on my PC ( a good thing because it's kind of a wonky software) but now you download the “Logitech G” app off of the app store on your phone. The app is where you can decide to switch between if you want to use the headset for your Xbox or your PC, and is also where you can check to see if there is an update. A cool feature about this headset is that it has bluetooth and can be used while paired to your cell phone and your console/PC at the sametime. I used this feature to play a Podcast on my phone while playing the new call of duty with both sounds coming through the headphones. You just have to remember to turn your A30 headset off when you're done playing games or when you try to go play something off your phone it will still connect to the headset. Sound quality on the A30s is amazing, especially when you turn on Dolby Atmos, where you get 3D sound and its game changing especially for video games. The feel on the headband is great and the adjustable sliders are a much better design from their previous models. My only real complaint with the headset is the removable boom mic, where in the older models the boom mic was built in and was on a swivel to adjust the position and to mute the mic. It now just rests in one location and the mute button is located on the back left ear cup. This is a tad incovent in that you have to locate the switch to mute yourself instead of just flipping the mic upwards to mute and then the location of the boom mic for me personally is too much in my peripheral vision while gaming. You can remove the boom mic to use the built in mic, but my teammates said I did n sound as good when using the built in mic. Overall you can't go wrong with the A30s as its one of the most versatile headsets on the market where you can pretty much use in all gaming circumstances and use it with your phone,

Amazing pair of gaming headphones/mic. The packaging is great and they include a very nice carrying case, also a charging USB type C cable, a multi jack cable (if you want to use it with a Nintendo switch or Playstation 5 controller) and a detachable mic. The version I got is the "Xbox" version. It includes a wireless dongle to pair with your xbox console, however, pressing the button (or via the app) you can change the mode to PC mode and it works also with any PC. For playstation 5 or Switch you have to use the multi jack cable. However, they do also sell an optional wireless dongle for PS5 and you can use the same pair of headphones wirelessly with your PS5, for the Nintendo switch they also sell a USB type C dongle too.
Setup was very easy, you just turn the headset one, turn on bluetooth pairing mode, pair with your phone, then open the Logitech G mobile app and it will detect the cans. There is no need of drivers, software etc on the PC side or Xbox, you configure and tune them all via their app, I love this, no more bloatware on PC. This way, you can have up to 3 different inputs on the same cans (the wireless usb dongle, bluetooth and via mini jack).
Their app is really nice and you can update firmware via there, select EQ, listening modes etc. The headphones themselves are super sturdy and they are very comfy, the earpads feel like a faux leather with some sort of memory foam and are very comfy, the headband too. These headphones have dual mics. You can attach the included boom mic for better voice while gaming, but if you want to take them on the go as music cans, you can detach it and there is still one included mic if you want to take phone calls lets say while listening to music, very versatile.
Finally I love that you can mostly control them either via the app and also on the headphones themselves there is like a little joystick, which you can move in different directions to control volume, chat/game balance, play/stop music, answer calls etc.
Sound is great and these are closed back headphones and they are very good at insulating outside sounds. While playing multiplayer games I chose the soundsteps profile to pinpoint accuracy, works very well and there is also an immersive mode for single player/campaigns. Battery life is great too.
Great job Astro, I love the innovation of using the phone app for most of the headphone tuning, no more software on the PC!

My fiancé replaced his old Turtle Beach Headset for this guy, and it did not disappoint! The color is sleek, we LOVE the iredescent ear pieces. The mic is long, which is a preference of my fiancé’s, and tbh it is hard to find on a lot of headsets. The connectivity is funky at times, but the sound quality and battery life make up for it. Would definitely recommend this headset to anyone!

Headsets have come a long way from the wired ones we were used to years ago. In addition to being usable as a wired headset, this model can connect wirelessly to the dongle (which is quite compact) or via Bluetooth. The detachable boom mic is flexible, and the connector is keyed (there's a notch on the connector) so that you plug it in the right way. It is also quite comfortable, a rarity for me as I have a large head and a lot of headsets I have to take off after several hours due to the clamping force giving me a headache :(
Using this for gaming, the sound quality was good. There was a good amount of detail from the highs, mids, and lows. The mic quality was decent - my friends said that they could hear me well with the boom mic. When I detached the boom mic and it switched over to the built in mics, they said I sounded a little quieter, or further away, but only by a small degree. I appreciate that this device has controls to adjust the voice/game mix, where you can adjust how much of your voice chat you want versus the actual game (it involves the computer setting up two "outputs"). Having USB-C is nice as well for convenient recharging when needed, although for me the battery seems to last a long time.
Using this headset for music, the sound quality continues to impress, with good bass and treble. It connects via Bluetooth very quickly, and the companion app allows for you to adjust the equalizer as well as set the presets in addition to monitoring battery levels.
I would say that the only area that could use improvement is, as with most headsets, is the mic. While my friends said that they could hear me, it wasn't "crystal clear" - that being said, they could perfectly understand and hear me. Additionally, while I appreciate that there is a dedicated mic mute toggle switch, having a red LED on the tip of the boom mic that would go on/off would be a welcome feature as well.
Overall, I was very impressed by this headset. It is comfortable, has good sound quality and battery life to last for days. There are a lot of settings and customization that can be done through the mobile app, including turning on/off the gamer-style sound effects when powering on/off.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get a gaming headset.

Wow! First off I’ve been playing video games for about 30 years now and I was never that gamer that ever used headphones. Sometimes on a whim maybe 3-4 in the 30 years I thought ok I’m gonna try a new pair of gaming headphones and each time it was always the same outcome….. 1. Uncomfortable for and duration of time 2. Sound quality wasn’t at all comparable to whatever sound set up I had at the time 3. The volume neve got loud enough to immerse me. Well this pair has changed everything for me! I had just bought the new call of duty and fired it up with the new pair of headphones and waited to be disappointed. During the initial set up for the game I couldn’t have cared less but once the game started so did the experience. You could hear every shell from everyone’s gun hit the ground! The Dolby atmos made you feel like you were in a real warezone! Things happening around my head behind me everywhere! I can’t praise the things enough my only comparison I can make is you were in an imax theater playing video game at full volume! Completely blown away by these!

Pros: sound quality is nice, looks nice, the ear muffs are a pleasant size/arent overly & unnecessarily bulky, overall is a good headset when you find your preferred volume settings and if dont mind dealing w the bad aspects of it. Cons: the connectivity is finicky. It has no issue connecting to my phone. Iit can/will connect to your phone and console at the same time. Personally i found it annoying af bc i never even paired it to my phone. It simply connected on its own. It has a 50/50 chance (really like a 30/60 chance. Im being nice here) of it connecting to the console on the first try. Most of the time i have to restart my console & unplug then replug in the dongle for it to connect. The mic is okay, no one I've played w has had anything negative to say abt the mic quality sounds itself, But i have to use the mic extender/mouth piece for ppl to hear me without it sounding like im far away. Also if I've been playing for a more than 3 hours (literally ive timed it) then i have to get up & unplug and replug in the dongle just to turn the headset off when im done playing. Idk whats up with that weird connectivity issue. The volume controls are also kind of busted and, again, finicky. It took me 2 weeks of having this headset to get the volume adjusted to something manageable, and even now after having the headset for a month or so it still isn't the same for every game and i have to readjust it each time. It's annoying, but not a huge issue. Just be careful when playing games for the first time with it bc the headset software seems to default to LOUD settings in games initially rather than normal or soft volume settings. Oh, and if you are still thinking about purchasing this for the customization pieces on the ear muffs (you're just like me fr) dont even bother. Astro has discontinued production of the pieces for this version of the headset and only makes pieces for the a40 headset & the pieces for the a40 set are not compatible to the a30, go figure. The last issue for me and the main reason why i am searching for a better headset now is that this headset is tight on my head. Idk if i just have a big head or what. It fit fine at first and i had no issues. I actually loved the fit; however, now it gives me the biggest headache and makes my jaw so freaking sore after wearing it for about a hour from how tightly it is pressing against my ears. Idk what changed. The fit and aesthetic of the headset is what made me not immediately return it when i got it about a month ago. I really wish i would've gotten my money back on it. 9/10 do not recommend. Spend your money on a better headset.

The headset is pretty good but I don’t think it’s worth the price unless I’m doing something wrong. I only use the headset to play cod and I’m still having a hard time hearing footsteps and what direction they are coming from. I also have a problem with the headset not powering off. I just put them back on the charger and hope it kelps it somewhat off. Other then that battery last long and sound is pretty good. Which they have other color options.

I really like this headset. I have only had one problem with it, it will randomly switch modes so you may have to turn it off and back on again. However the ability to have it connected to your game and your phone at the same time is very convenient! The sound is PHENOMENAL! Also the bass and clarity amazing! The volume can go INSANELY LOUD! Good headset, some issues connecting to both phone and Xbox, had to reset a couple times. Every now and then I have to take the usb for pc/console out of the console to reset connection. Sound quality is fantastic otherwise! Worth it to me.
I would recommend this to a friend
