I do not know if it was the treatment during transit or if the laptop was a lemon. It was glitching, like the pictures I have provided with this review. I only had it for one day for it to be behaving like that. Other than that, the display graphics are excellent, plus it was fast. It’s a shame that I had returned it to the store.

I brought the product with great excitement but i was disappointed with the product. The device did not work if not plugged in, the device would take 5 mins to boot and always would go to bios setup. I was really disappointed.

There was a manufacturing mistake on the LCD frame. But the performance was much better than expected (although the fans could be mistaken for a jet engine under load) and everything else related to build quality was in good shape.
It's not the fanciest machine, and weighs more than I would like. But for an all around workhorse that flies under the radar, it's easy to recommend—especially if you can get it on sale like I did.

When it comes to the HP ENVY 16, you can rest assured this will be a reliable laptop when it comes to just about anything. I was super happy when I got this for 650 dollars off, not to mention a free 6-month anti-virus software!
**PROS**
-Excellent Speed
-RTX 4060
-Performs Well at Multi-Tasking
-Windows Hello
-Great Screen Display
-Sleek Designs
1 TB of Storage
**CONS**
-Not really into the trackpad (Kind of laggy)
-Battery only lasts for an hour and a half, but I'm always near my charger when I'm on it, so this isn't much of a big issue for me
-Can get hot at times, but doesn't get hot near where your hands would be
**NEUTRAL**
-It could be brighter, but it's relatively bright (not like those HP OMENs...)
-Somewhat heavy, but I don't mind it
-Webcam is iffy, but it's alright

Laptop can often be bought for less than $1,000 which given the specifications is an absolute steal.
If the laptop will be stationary then it will be a powerhouse of machine. Would not recommend carrying it around as it is almost 6 lbs.
Pros
• Good Specifications
• Runs Quiet (Unless doing intensive tasks like gaming)
• Good Heating (Only time it gets noticeably hot is during gaming, otherwise it stays cool during everyday tasks or creating projects).
• Snappy, Quick Refresh Rate
• Nice Screen
• Solid Build, Little Flex
Cons
• Bulky
• Heavy

Out of the box, I had to do about 2 hours of bios and software updates. Once completed the laptop works well, had to increase the ram since for some reason the background processes require 12 Gb of processing power doing simple productivity tasks. Speakers are adequate, battery life is about 6 hours for me on battery saver mode doing only productivity tasks like browsong and writing papers. Fan kicks on when doing pretty much any task, probably has thermal issues. Very nice screen good for just about any everyday task and non competitive gaming. Overall a solid laptop, a bit heavy but good camera and overall build quality. Definitely scoop if you see it in a good sale.

I must say the price I paid was a great value for the performance level of this laptop. The display is crisp and bright. The graphics card allows me to play and the processor is ready to work. The keyboard is not fantastic, but still useable. Wifi is solid, but you must use a USB adapter for a wired/ethernet connection. My real gripe is with the "Excellent" rating for the open-box I bought. There are scratches and swirls on the lid and little "dents" along the lip that you can feel when you pick up the laptop. I think the previous owner tried to pry the bottom off - maybe they returned it because it wouldn't open. Definitely not "Excellent" with those cosmetic flaws.

The real deal

I am a huge fan of this laptop (no pun intended). It is very powerful and will handle just about any task you throw at it including moderate to heavy gaming tasks. RAM is not a problem as 16 GB is enough but if your feeling like it's not enough, it is expandable which is really nice. Also, the storage is expandable as well which is great. In addition, the screen is very high quality. It is bright, has a good contrast ratio, and is sharp. My only complaint is how reflective it is, but that's grasping at straws. My biggest complaint is the battery life. I normally can get 3-4ish hours unplugged if I am doing light tasks like browsing the internet and mabye 1.5 hours I'd I'm lucky playing games. This is to be expected though as the batteries need to power an i9 and a 4060... So just be aware. Another minor complaint is how finicky the cooling system is. If you want maximum cooling I highly, highly recommend having it propped up at an angle so the fan isn't blowing like crazy all the time. Overall it's one of the best laptops of it's kind. I highly recommend.

Pros:
Very large great quality screen.
Very fast i9 processor with a more than capable GPU (GeForce RTX 4060) for gaming.
Great SSD storage capacity for a Laptop.
Decent screen quality and size (2560 x 1600 resolution, 16in screen size.)
Cons:
Becomes very hot when using high usage applications.
More (regular) USB ports would've been nice.
Very cheap keyboard makes for a unsatisfactory typing experience.
Windows 11 is a bit of a adjustment for people coming straight from Windows 10
Not the best choice for people who want a more portable option.
Overall rating: 4.5/5

My main issues with this laptop are that the fan can get really loud at times and the battery life can be short depending on what you're doing. Everything else about this laptop is superb. The build feels incredible and performing tasks is super quick and responsive. The screen is also beautiful, but a little bit dim, however it isn't much of an issue for me.

Purchased on sale for $700 off so a 13th gen i9 with 2 SO-Dimm slots and 2 nvme slots was a no brainer. The RTX 4060 was not a huge issues as my main goal was a portable Lightroom and Photoshop device.
Pros
-13th gen i9 for just around $1k price tage
-large screen with decent peak brightness around 400 nits would have loved 500 or better
-2 upgradable RAM slots for 64GB RAM upgrade
-2 upgradable nvme slots
-120Hz Screen 2560 x 1600 res 4k would be nice but for me on the go editing it works great I have 4k monitos in my office can plug into.
Cons
-16" screen now I need to get a new bag oh well
-16GB of Ram I use 85% with PS open upgrading to a min of 32GB is a must, but 16GB will work for 90% of office applications.
-MicroSD slot.....As a Photographer I use SD or XQD MicroSD slots are useless. Even if I had a GoPro or Drone that use it I have more MicroSD to full SD adaptors, but I have a bunch of USB-C port dongles so no biggie.

I've used this for programming, photo editing via Lightroom and Nik Collection and playing Fortnite with the grandkids. 16GB is ok for programming but not photo editing or gaming. I upgraded to 64GB memory but 32GB might be fine. This is the first laptop I've ever opened to upgrade. Five screws and some scary prying get you in. The 2 memory slots are under a very thin metal shield held down by lots of tiny spring fingers. Be very careful reinstalling the shield. I also added a second SSD drive in the available and exposed slot. Unfortunately, there is no SSD hold down screw provided in the laptop. I found an unused one in one of my older desktop computers. If all goes well after reassembly, you will have to be patient after hitting the power button as it sits looking dead for a long time before showing anything on the screen on it's first, post upgrade, boot. After that it boots fast as ever. I imagine the battery is fine for lite use like surfing the web or watching a movie or even just programming. However I only get 2 to 3 hours of photo editing time and less than 2 hours of Fortnite play time before searching for a plug to recharge or work with. Recharge time feels pretty good but I don't have specific numbers for that. Keyboard is lighted and is ok but not the greatest. The i/o ports are ok but I wish it had a full size SD memory card slot. Oh, heat. Photo editing, rarely hear the fans. Fortnite... definitely get fan action and if you let your grandson take the controls, the fans scream and the laptop gets pretty warm to the touch! I think I will buy a laptop cooling pad just for gaming.

Laptop was a great deal for the sale price. Wonderful features and great bang for the buck. Not many laptops this powerful are available with a touch screen. Gamer power with professional looking design.
Problem is when it comes to cooling. Fans run and are kind of loud. Impossible to use on your lap as you will block the vents. Hp should have encorporated better side venting.
I never got close to full 10 hours using it for strictly office work, but i will get about 6 or 7.
I would purchase again, but only for sale price.

Got this at a steal during "Black Friday in July". Spent the savings on 64GB RAM and a 2TB M.2 SSD for my Steam library. Baldur's Gate 3 and Diablo 4 run smooth. Also, the monitor is beautiful and bright - I actually think it could duke it out with a Mac monitor, Mac might win in paper specs, but it would be a close call to the naked eye. Now for those looking at the battery (Mac would thump this thing as far as battery is concerned)... If you want to do anything but browse/office, you pretty much need to plug it with the power brick. For me, I wanted a versatile laptop to bring on work trips. Just enough battery for a PowerPoint presentation during the day and the ability to plug it in and game back at the hotel later. 100% the right choice for me. For long work days I bring along my USB charger, but no power brick unless I'm gaming or doing AI stuff. Now when I travel I only need to bring 1 laptop on the plane (used to be an office ultra book and a gaming laptop) and I can leave the power brick at the hotel. I use this for office stuff, gaming, game development, local AI inferencing, development with docker/K8s, and streaming movies/TV. So I pretty much throw everything at it. If you are as much as a power user as me, the only thing you might be limited by is the 8GB of VRAM on the 4060, but you probably know just how pricey it is to get decent VRAM in a laptop too.

I purchased this laptop to replace a 2 year old ASUS VivoBook with a 10th gen i5 and no dedicated GPU. After several days of shopping and comparing deals I determined that purchasing this particular model from Best Buy was the best deal. After a few weeks of usage I can confidently say that I'm satisfied with my choice. The i9-13900h and RTX 4060 are capable of running whatever programs and games I throw at it with ease. I have gotten a handful of modern games to run smoothly at full resolution and high to ultra settings. It's not marketed as a gaming laptop but can definitely be used as such. A couple of things to note if you are looking to buy this for similar use - this processor runs hot under heavy load like gaming. You will want to invest in a cooling pad. I bought a Targus cooling pad from BB at a low price. Battery life is quite good when just browsing the web or doing basic tasks - I would estimate around 8 to 10 hours with this type of use. However when gaming I've drained the battery in as little as 1.5 hours. You will want to keep that charger nearby. Overall very satisfied, lots of bang for your buck.
