The Shark HP152 NeverChange Air Purifier has been a great addition to my home. I have kept it running for these past days in its default Auto Mode (settings adjusted automatically by the device) with visible overall great results, the air has felt very clean and fresh throughout the whole house. The main inconvenience I’ve found so far is when I need to move the Air Purifier from one area to another (from the second to the first floor), given that there is no easy way to hold the device from the sides or top (I would have expected to find handles or similar on the sides and/or top), I must lift and hold it from the bottom. Its main filter is advertised to last for 5 years, so I assume that is where it got the NeverChange label. Also, there are side dust filters which can be cleaned easily; so, it seems like a low maintenance air purifier. I’d been debating on whether to give this device a 5 or 4 for some time already; definitely, I think this device deserves at least a 4.
- Pros: works fast, quiet, auto/manual modes, easy to clean outer dust filters, long lasting HEPA filter, adjustable odor neutralizer intensity.
- Cons: no handle(s).
>> Setup
Follow the guidelines in the Quick Start Guide to help with setting up the Shark HP152 Air Purifier, the one thing to be careful of is to remove the plastic cover from the main filter (well there is a yellow warning label telling the need to do so). The Quick Start Guide also has a QR code for easy access to the documentation and instructional videos on your mobile device. I am mostly a PC guy, so a quick search for Shark HP152 produces all I need.
>> Odor Neutralizer
To be accurate, it is not that you’d get a “neutral” odor, but just whatever scent the Odor Neutralizer’s fragrance cartridge came with. The fragrance cartridge that came with this device has a citrus-like smell that I really dislike, it feels too intense and overwhelming. I was planning on getting lavender or roses scent-based cartridges, but my search online hasn’t produced any results to find replacements for it so far. I’d think something like lavender/roses scent would be great for bedroom areas, while citrus scent seems more targeted towards kitchen or living room areas. I wonder if the Citrus smell is the signature Shark’s smell, since I also have a Shark vacuum that has the same scent for its odor neutralizer.
The good news is that you can adjust the Odor Neutralizer’s intensity. So, for my home office room, I can set it to the minimum, and well, even at the minimum I don’t keep it too close to me that the air vent hits my face with the intense odor (which happened a couple of times already). For more smelly areas, like the kitchen (especially when some of those cooking accidents occur), you can even set it to maximum intensity for quick foul-smell riddance.
>> Functioning modes
So far, Auto Mode has been working fine and I haven’t had yet the need to manually set any setting in my everyday use. Well, I’ve purposedly tried the manual settings as part of my need-to-know about the Air Purifier features, but in regular everyday life, Auto Mode seems to suffice. It adjusts to the situation at hand, if the air purity and smell is great (the device shows 100%) the fan would stop and reactivate whenever changes to the air quality and smell were detected. Nevertheless, you might feel like wanting to adjust different settings, such as timeout, fan intensity, among others, which you can do with ease. Note that it doesn’t have a control remote or App (no Wi-Fi), but I have not seen the need for those, so I am not including those “missing” features as flaws.
Overall, the Shark HP152 Air Purifier is very quiet compared to other devices I have (well, those other devices are also a little bigger and older than this one).
>> Portability
The Shark HP152 Air Purifier is somewhat light but moving it around is not as easy as one would want, it lacks handle(s) or something to hold on to while carrying from one place to another. The side panels could be mistaken as potential areas to place your fingertips to lift the device, but then they’d become detached, and you’d find yourself with two panels on each hand (definitely, this is a design flaw). We usually move the Shark HP152 from one room to another as needed during the day, and at night, we’ve found that placing it on the second-floor aisle outside the master bedroom, or on the first floor in the section connecting the living room and kitchen, helps in getting the clean and pure air we want.

MARKETING
Shark’s “Never Change” marketing is a stretch and honestly quite gimmicky. By “Never Change”, Shark means that the HEPA filter can last up to 5 years before needing replaced. This, of course, if you read it correctly does say; UP TO. It doesn’t mean that it will last 5 years and doesn’t mean the HEPA filter will never need changed, unless Shark does not intend for their machine to last that long. Don’t know. But just note, this is not a “Never Change” product, as the filter is designed to be replaced when full.
DESIGN
Now that I got my rant out of the way, I will say Shark did a good job at designing the pre-filter system in this air cleaner. To extend the life of the HEPA filter, Shark has incorporated 3 separate pre-filters to help stop most of the contaminants before reaching the actual HEPA media itself. Anyone that has purchased an air cleaner, must agree that the overall price of filter media is outrageous. Much like buying an inkjet printer. The machine is reasonably priced, but the consumables are what gets you.
Shark’s excellently designed pre-filters do a good job of capturing most contaminants up front. The drawback, which I would gladly trade for any day, is more maintenance by the consumer with the pre-filters. A few minutes of your time every month or so, cleaning the easily accessible pre-filter media, will greatly extend the life of the HEPA filter, thereby substantially reducing the overall cost of ownership of the cleaner. Excellent concept Shark. Kudos!!!!
USE
I like this Shark’s premium look and feel. The controls look and operate like a high-end device should. I also like that Shark has omitted what you really don’t need in an air filter, Wi-Fi. Thankfully, a device that doesn’t need internet access, it just sits there doing its job and looks good doing it.
This is the first air cleaner I’ve seen and/or used in long time that includes a small device for freshening the air. Shark gives a sample of it in the device, but as the scent gets weaker from use, the owner can purchase additional capsules that lock into the top of the cleaner and gradually release a fresh scent of choice as the Shark runs.
The front display gives you all the information you could want at a quick glance. The outer blue ring indicates air quality. Blue being the best, changing to amber and then red as air quality worsens. Machine controls for monitoring filter life, pre-filters, particle count, etc. are all simple and readily accessible by the capacitive touch controls on the top. You can easily toggle between air quality, filter life, pre-filter life, fan speed, operating modes, etc.
The most important button on the top is easily the AUTO button. Using auto lets the machine decide fan speed based on current air quality. As air quality worsens the machine will automatically ramp up fan speeds to help clean faster. As quality improves, it gradually slows down until it reaches 100% quality for up to 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, it will turn on ECO mode and sits there, whisper quiet, slowly cleaning the air, while maximizing filter life.
NEGATIVES
While I love the look of the machine and readouts, I would like to have some additional dimming steps built in. There are only 3, as of now. Bright, Mid, Off. I would like to see a couple of additional steps in between, as even on the middle setting the light emitted is quite bright, especially in a darkened bedroom. I would love to see a LOW setting, where everything is just barely visible.
Machine noise at 99% vs 100% is quite noticeable. While not horribly loud, the machine does get obtrusive if air quality diminishes too much. Thankfully, I have not had air quality dip below 98% in the bedroom I have this placed. But you can instantly tell when the machine changes from 100% to 99%. The increase in noise is quite noticeable and becomes much like a bedside fan, which if you sleep with fan, may not be a bad thing.
CONCLUSION
After a week, the overall dust in my bedroom (the machine cleans rooms up to 650 sq ft) has declined substantially. There is no reason not to recommend this machine. If the consumer recognizes that the “Never Change” speak is purely marketing, then they will be hard pressed to find a better device. I will gladly take a little extra maintenance and attention on my behalf to delay purchasing pricey replacement media. I think a lot of people feel this way and Shark has answered their requests.
RECOMMENDED.

Loving the Clean Air and Reusable Filter!

There are so many things to love about this Shark NeverChange Air Purifier. First and foremost, I love the sustainability aspect of not having to constantly replace the air filter. In addition to reducing waste and carbon footprint, it also doesn’t become a financial drain to run it. Aside from that its filter exceeds HEPA standards and can easily be cleaned by vacuuming, wiping or rinsing. My personal preference is to just give it a good rinse.
Ever since I got this unit, I have had it running in my living room on Auto. I can tell it is definitely working and doing a great job at keeping the air clean. It tends to stay in the 90th percentile for the most part but my mom, who lives with us, likes to burn oil to cook her eggs in the morning and when she recently did this the air filter kicked into full gear to purify the air, showing the air quality plummeted drastically. It was actually a great way to prove to her just how bad burning oil is to our lungs, not to mention the detrimental health aspect of ingesting it. She has since changed her ways and I thank the Shark NeverChange purifier for it. Within half an hour the smell of the burnt oil was filtered out of the air without ever having to open a window to let in the frigid cold to ventilate the house. Before owning an air purifier this smell would linger in the house all morning so I can attest that it is working phenomenally.
One thing I have noticed about this is that, since I have it on a pathway, whenever someone passes by, the air quality seems to immediate lower according to the purifier’s sensor. I presume that the lint that falls from our clothing may be to blame, but don’t know for sure.
The digital controls register touch easily and the purifier adjusts immediately to changes. I like that the display is dimmable in case it is used in a bedroom because I cannot stand any light whatsoever when I sleep. It also has the ability to be set on a timer.
There are four fan speeds to choose from when not on Auto. I would note that it can get pretty loud when its running full speed and blows out a lot of air. This does not bother me much; just thought I would point it out. Conversely, when it is at the lowest speed it is super quiet and great for the nighttime.
The display can be changed to show the air quality by percent, or by the amount of either PM1, PM2.5, or PM10 in the air.
I highly recommend this air purifier both for its financial and ecological sustainably aspects and for its ability to keep the air clean and healthy in the home. I have this on 24/7 and have noticed a positive difference in my home’s air quality since I got it.

This purifier has made a huge difference for me. I have been dusting less and have happily noticed a big improvement in my allergy symptoms- itchy eyes and sneezing. I move it to the kitchen while cooking and it quickly removes food odors from the air. I like that it is a small unit that has plenty of power. It's nice and quiet- does not disturb my work day or sleep at night. Was recommended to me by a coworker who has the larger model- so glad I took her advice. Now I am the one recommending it!

We’ve struggled to keep the air in our home clean for quite some time. We have dogs and it’s an older home. We’ve used different air purifiers over the years and while they have done a fine job, the filters give out far too quickly. So, the lost-lasting filter with the NeverChange purifier was very appealing to me.
Setup: The setup of this air purifier is exceptionally easy. You remove it from its pacakging and then flip it over. You then have to twist the bottom off to remove the Hepa filter and pull the plastic wrap off of it. You are also instructed to unwrap the odor neutralizer cartridge and insert it. Once you are certain all the stickers and tape are removed from the unit, you can plug it in and turn it on. That’s it. There are three options for operation - Auto, Eco Mode, and manual. I opted to use Auto mode as that is what we have done with other purifiers.
Overall Impression/Usage: One of the things I really like about this device is its size. While it has the ability to clean up to 650sqft, it’s small in comparison to some other devices that cover a similar amount of space. I also really like that you shouldn’t have to change the filter for 5 years. I would imagine that if you have an exceptionally dirty environment such as a wood working shop or several pets, that the timespan of the filter might be shorter. So far, I’m very pleased with the operation of this device. I have been using it primarily in a small office where one of my dogs spends most of his day. It’s my fiance’s work space so she keeps the room closed off most of the time for meetings. This leads to a decrease in airflow to the room. The NeverChange has been helpful in keeping air circulating. It is too soon to know if the 5-year lifespan is accurate, but so far the purifier has been doing its job.

The Shark NeverChange Air Purifier is a great little air purifier that has the great benefit of not having to buy filters for up to 5 years. You do still have to clean the 1st line of filters on the side, but the main filter is the one with incredible endurance! There is no remote with the unit but it does have an "Auto" mode that constantly scans your air quality and then ramps up or down the purifying based on the current air quality. It works great and it's nice to know when you air quality is bad because there is a circle light on the front that changes color based on the current air quality. On max the Shark gets a little loud but it's worth it knowing you are breathing in fresh clean air. If you use an air purifier a lot, be sure to check your air humidity levels as over use can make the air a little dry but it is easily addressable. The scent pack was easy to install and it does make the area where is cleaning smell really good and fresh, I only wish they included a larger supply. Overall, the Shark NeverChange Air Purifier is a great addition for any home and I definitely recommend it.

Really nice air purifier. Smaller size, and the display has adjustable brightness (2 brightness levels as well as completely dark setting). The best feature is the life of the filter. The main filter is supposed to be good for 5 years without replacement. There are two smaller filters that you will need to clean occasionally, but they are super easy to clean and it only takes about a minute for each one. Not needing to replace the filters is a game-changer since filters can get very expensive when you need to change them every 3-6 months. Fan speed is adjustable and pretty quiet overall. There is also an auto mode so the unit can adjust based on real-time feedback. There is no remote or smartphone connectivity, but I don’t find that to be an issue. Would definitely buy again (currently own 2).

we don't have a kitchen vent to the outside so as an alternative the shark. setup next to our garbage can on floor a couple feet from stove. test run just a blue light showing good air quality. cooking bacon in oven red ring light with heavy bacon smell. family room and kitchen one large area but the shark worked. We only run it when cooking. it does remove the oder. Its not louder than our bedroom fans. Controls right on top so easy to use. Small and not heavy but no handle to move to a different location. Did not try scent disk as we are removing oders not adding.

I have pretty severe allergies and they get especially bad at night. I purchased this air purifier as an upgrade and I really like it. Very quiet and seems to keep the air quality of the room stable.
The scent pod thing is light and pleasant, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing when its spent.
I may have to remind myself to do the routine maintenance but I am happy to not have to worry about replacing the filters for a long time.

This product is very easy to setup. Its performance is amazing. It’s very quiet when operating. You do hear the fam more when it’s on high, but it’s not something that very bothersome. And unless you have terrible air quality in your home, the auto function is the best setting. It cleans very rapidly as well. I would definitely recommend.

Shark NeverChange Air Purifier Review
I work in a place in Colorado that has high pollution in Denver, so I needed and/or wanted an air purifier to ensure that the air I’m breathing while working in the office was as pure as it can be! What made this a no-brainer for me was the fact it had a ‘Never Change Air Filter’ which turned out to be clever marketing! More on that later, but still, it’s leagues better than some other options out there that I’ve experienced from a certain bladeless fan company!
What really surprised me was the Odor Neutralizer! I was not expecting this and to be honest, it’s genius! I don’t know why other companies aren’t doing this! It’s seriously one of a kind and so smart! What the Odor Neutralizer does is inject fresh scents into the room after the purified air is released into your space! I’d much rather pay for different scents on a regular basis than an air filter! It’s pretty smart for Shark to make this their recurring charge rather than an air filter! It’s a tangible benefit that makes you feel like you’re getting something for your money. The other benefit is you can have this Odor Neutralizer set to max which you can be too much depending on the size of your space, or you can set it to subtle which is what I ended up doing in my office!
I also really liked the fact it states the air quality on the front display, 100% means you’re good and anything under 85% is yellow, and so on. In my office I wasn’t able to get it to go down below 100% during my testing, so it turns out my building's facilities do a really good job with filtration of the air. So I brought it home and I was SHOCKED lol. Perhaps it’s just because it’s winter and my windows are closed, but every room had a result under 100% when I first put the Shark in the room. I ultimately landed on my daughter's room which went from 85% to 100% in the matter of minutes with the door open!
It fluctuates from time to time going from 100% anywhere down the upper 80s. But it’s nice knowing that her room is getting purified, and it smells nice too. I ultimately ended up buying another one for my other kiddos room because I loved it so much!
The filtration seems to work really well and according to Shark, the “NeverChange” part of it is actually more like, change it in 5 years or so, give or take. It’s really easy to do, you just unlatch the bottom and throw in the new filter. There’s two handles on the side, which are NOT to carry the thing around, but a debris filter. Those are washable and can be cleaned pretty quickly.
Long story short, highly recommended!

We purchased one for upstairs and one for downstairs, and it has made a difference. Living in the desert, you deal with dust all the time. Since turning these on, we've noticed a dramatic decrease in the need to dust as often, as well as pet dander. Air has a clean smell, and when it senses cooking or random odor, it speings to life. Highly recommend for people with pets and/or allergies.

Really Hope This Filter Thing Works

The Shark - Never Change Air Purifier, 5-Year Filter Life in black states that it covers up to 650 sq ft.is a wonderful concept that I hope proves out to be true. What comes in the box- 1 purifier machine, 1 never change HEPA filter, and 1 odor neutralizer insert. The HEPA filter is supposedly the game changer that is supposed to last up to 10x longer, thus saving the user lots of money, which will have to prove itself over time. They explain that this specific HEPA filter has 3 layers of protection starting on the outside from pet particles, if applicable, activated carbon that combats odors, and a nano seal that works on dust and smoke.
Those of you who purchase and use air purifier machines, for either your home or work environments, know that the greatest cost, over the years, is in the cost of the filters that are necessary for filtration. Additionally, this air purifier is fairly small in size, 13.2"Lx13.2"Wx22.5"H, in, and mostly inobtrusive is taking on not only the filter life issue, but also that a smaller machine can efficiently function in a larger sq ft area. Oh, another plus with this smaller-sized unit is that it only weighs about 12lbs and is easily moveable around your spaces. Also, this machine communicates with you and has an LCD screen, easily viewable, that shows you at what percent your air is clean, with a color ring around that number that automatically alerts you to whether the air quality is good, bad, or ugly. That alone is a game changer to me.
Shark knows that filter costs, over the life of any purifier is a negative, and I can only hope that their crack engineering department has truly figured out how this can be successfully overcome. Physically, this machine's 2 sides are sloped, and they come that way to function as debris defenders with removable screens that are cleanable and add protection against larger pieces or items from getting into the areas of filtration. Oh, a couple of last-minute things. When 1st setting up, a sticker on the top instructs you to turn the machine upside down to open up the machine from the bottom and remove the filter so that you can take off all the plastic packing from the filter. Two, the odor neutralizer insert comes in its own little packaging within the bigger box, and when I opened the big box, I lost control over that item. I then called Shark's toll-free customer service to see if it came with this model, and while they were very friendly, they gave me the wrong answer because I eventually found it, they said that it did not. However, their customer service did register it for me and there is a 1-year warranty. Bottom line, while I am currently very happy with the system that I set on automatic, I do not know if what Shark states about the longevity of the filter life is true, and I have to reserve judgement on that for now.

I have three dogs and three boys, with the youngest being 21 months old. Before we moved into our new home, I purchased the Air Purifiers from Shark. He was coughing daily and constantly getting upper respiratory infections, which he gave to me.
Since we left our apartment, which was built three years ago, and I bought the Shark Air Purifier, he has been clear. He does not wheeze or have trouble breathing, which means I have gone a month without getting sick.
So, to say that I am happy with the Shark Air Purifiers is an understatement. Also, before I bought them, our house smelt like dog pee from our boy dog, and now it smells like new. I would say that running a humidifier along with the Shark can keep the air quality low due to the particles in the water making it work harder, so only leave the humidifier on at night if needed.

I have had several air purifiers over the years. Some big some small. Usually the small ones have a rating of up to or around 100-150 square feet. This model claims 600+ which is a small apt. We have a 1650 square foot house and need something powerful. And after using this shark never change purifier I can say I feel like it does handle large areas. We all suffer from bad allergies year round unfortunately. And we haven’t had as bad allergies as normal. This little machine pushes a lot of air and isn’t obnoxiously loud at full speed, like many others ther brands. It’s a nice white noise imo while using in the house. My wife loves it since it’s not huge and taking up more space. The screen is nice as well and can be dimmed completely so you don’t waste electricity and it won’t bother you whiling using at night in your bedroom. It will tell you how clean your air is. And I can tell you it is accurate because after cooking the unit will show bad air quality in the low 70s and it will filter the air and raise the number back up to 99-100%. You will notice the change I promise you. How shark managed to build such a small unit to be so powerful is amazing. Also as you can see the filter will have up to a 5 year use life. if you use it everyday the filter should last at least 3-4 years. That for me is one of the huge selling points as filters can become costly after having to replace every 6 months or so. Peace of mind is important! For the price this is a good buy and well worth it if you suffer from allergies like we do.

I placed these in my children's rooms, and they have been incredibly effective.
