This is the first Astro headset I’ve used since the A40 TR that I used and loved for several years. I came close to buying the previous generation A50 a few times, but I just couldn’t justify the cost. Now that I have the refreshed model I can say it has all the things I loved about the A40, plus more, and some of the things I didn’t like as much. The sound quality is fantastic, the microphone is also great, and they’re comfortable as heck. The base station is interesting and being able to connect to 3 systems at the same time is neat, but I wonder if bundling this headset with what is essentially an AV switcher adds to the cost unnecessarily. If you are a gamer that is constantly switching between multiple consoles I think the A50 X provides a novel solution, but it feels like a niche use case.
Unboxing the A50 X, I found the build quality to be fine, but not great. It’s a mostly plastic build with some shiny surfaces that are just begging for fingerprints. The headset adjusts to fit via 2 metal rails that worked well for me and holds position well. I did have to adjust it to just about the maximum position to fit my large head. The headband and ear cups are made of a fabric material similar to the A40 I used previously. It feels comfortable against my head, but I wouldn’t call it ‘premium’. There are buttons on the right ear cup for game/voice balance and a couple more around the back for Bluetooth and source switching, in addition to a volume wheel and on/off switch. All of the buttons and the wheel on the headset have a good tactile feel, though it would be easy to mix them up by feel as they are of similar size. The microphone flips up and down and is very flexible, so getting it to the ideal position next to my mouth was not a problem.
The base station, which also doubles as an AV switcher, has 2 HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, and 3 USB-C ports, with one USB for PlayStation and Xbox and the final one as a power/PC connection. For a wireless product you have to contend with a whole lot of cables to use the A50 X at its full capability. The box includes a special USB-C cable that splits between the PC and an included power brick, so the base station is not dependent on receiving power from a PC or console. There is also one additional USB-C to USB-A cable, but if you are planning on using both a PlayStation and an Xbox you will need to contribute additional cabling to the setup to make it all work. No HDMI cable is included with the A50 X. I wouldn’t exactly call this setup plug and play and planning the base station’s position in relation to all of your devices and routing cables will be a major factor to getting a clean arrangement in the end.
The A50 X charges via magnetic pins on the base station, though it is very easy to position the headset in the wrong way or even not land it correctly on the pins when you do have it positioned correctly. There are indicators on both the headset and the base station that will let you know the headset is charging, but I do wish it landed in the base a little more seamlessly. The battery life is rated at 24 hours, but unless you are not docking the headset between gaming sessions I doubt you will ever run into a dead battery situation.
The A50 X is wireless and uses Logitech’s Lightspeed protocol, which has worked well for my mice and keyboards and so far has not been a problem with this headset. I haven’t experienced any signal drops or other wireless weirdness at all in the week or so I’ve had it. There is also Bluetooth onboard that can play simultaneously with the Lightspeed audio, but it is tied to the base station and not the headset, so the A50 X could not be used as a Bluetooth headset away from the base station.
Once I had the A50 X connected I was primarily gaming on my PC with the included Dolby Atmos license enabled. The sound quality on the A50 X is fantastic. The semi-open design doesn’t isolate you very well from outside noise, but it gives a nice wide soundstage that’s easy to get lost in. It is somewhat lacking in bass at the default EQ, but overall I found the sound to be clean and pleasant. The microphone is one of the best I’ve ever used in a headset and, from the samples I’ve heard, seems to be miles better than the one in Logitech’s other high end headset, the Pro X 2. There is no Blue branding or functionality in the G Hub software like there is on other Logitech headsets, but there are some basic tweaks to the microphone EQ as well like the Broadcast preset, which adds a little more warmth and boom to your voice. The volume adjustment wheel on the headset is independent from the system volume controls, so pushing one of those to their max and controlling the volume from the other place is the ideal way to go with the A50 X.
I did not test the A50 X on a console, but as I’ve come to understand the A50 X has full 4K/120Hz passthrough and supports HDR, VRR, and ALLM. When the headset is off, the console will play its audio through the normal sound system and when it is on that audio is routed through the headset. It’s a cool solution, but having to get HDMI cables and USB cables involved hooking up a headset to your console feels like a lot of extra work.
Overall I’m happy with the A50 X and I think it’s a great headset, especially if you game on multiple platforms. My main negative comments are I think the build is a little flimsy for the price and I wish it fit better into the base station. If you are only on a single platform or don’t switch between them very often it may be worth considering something less expensive, or something else in this price range that might offer additional features like noise canceling or on-headset Bluetooth.

Your insights into the headset's features, performance, and design are valuable for potential customers. I’m honestly not sure what else you would need in a set of gaming headphones as the new Logitech Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming headset comes with most bells and whistles. The Astro A50 X package contains the headphones, the HDMI base station, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a combo cable for your PC and the power adapter with a variety of plug heads depending on what region you are using these. Obviously one of the main features to look for in any good set of headphones has to be the sound which aren’t a let down in the Astros thanks to the the 40 mm Pro-G Graphene audio drivers. The sound is crystal clear with no delay in response thanks to the pro-grade LIGHTSPEED wireless technology they have. Possibly one of the greatest features the Astro A50’s offer is the ability to link all of your gaming consoles through their multi-system base station which allows you to run all your console’s HDMI cables and PC’s USB connections through it and which doubles as the docking station for your wireless headphones. The HDMI passthroughs offer Ultra HD resolution with 24-bit audio and 4K 120Hz video. On top of the input/passthrough options, it also has a Bluetooth connection in the event you want to pair it with your phone or other device. The next feature I always look for in a gaming headset that you might be spending hours on end wearing is the comfort. For me that means no high-end leather or vinyl material on the ear cushions as they cause me to sweat which is no bueno. The Astro A50s, thankfully, use a soft and cool mesh cloth type material that feels nice around the ears for hours on end. The 48kHz full-bandwidth broadcast quality LIGHTSPEED mic pairs perfectly with the high-end headphones and easily tucks away on the side when not in use. After using the headphones for several hours, it’s almost like they were not in use as the battery level barely budged meaning you can enjoy hours of use without worrying about the pesky low battery warnings and ending a game session. You can tinker with and fine tune your audio experience using the advanced Logitech G Hub on your PC and mobile application which has a 10-band equalizer, microphone settings, noise reduction and more. All that being said, the new Astro A50 X’s were obviously designed and manufactured for the hardcore gamers and could even double as your new over-the-ear music headphones when not gaming. The only thing I can think of that these might be lacking is haptic feedback which I had in my previous gaming headphones however that more of a bonus rather than a necessity and Logitech did another amazing job catering to gamers.
Thank you for your detailed and positive review of the A50 X LIGHTSPEED Wireless with PLAYSYNC Gaming Headset + Base Station for Xbox Series. Your enthusiasm for the product is evident, and we're thrilled to hear that it has exceeded your expectations in terms of sound quality, comfort, and versatility. We appreciate you taking the time to highlight the headset's key features and benefits, such as the easy-to-use design, impressive battery life, and compatibility with multiple platforms. So I was looking for something to replace my official Xbox Series X and my PlayStation 5 wired headsets. This Astro A50X headset is one headset, that connects to both of those systems (and PC too, if you’re a PC gamer). I figured for ease of use and convenience, that was well worth it on its own. Throw in amazing Dolby Atmos surround sound, earcups made of a fine cloth-like material instead of the usual leather that most headphones have, and the lightness/comfort of wearing it over extended periods… you’ve got yourself an incredible pair of gaming headphones. I have a larger head, and for me, a lot of headphones feel like they’re clamping my head. I’ve tried several cheaper headphones over the years, mostly “no-name-brands” from Amazon. They did the job, but eventually cut out in audio quality, leather tore, or were just downright uncomfortable. I’ve been using the Xbox and PS first-party headsets for a while now, and decided I finally wanted to dive into a higher-end pair of gaming headphones. I tested out what I found in-stores, Turtle Beach being a big competitor. And while they sounded great, their top model was just a bit too tight and felt like a vise on my head. I also thought the material of the earcups wasn’t nearly as nice as those of the Astros. These Astros are not only light, but the cups also swivel to my head shape too. It’s really such a small thing that makes a huge difference. Oh and did I mention the mic quality is crystal clear too? My only complaint is the initial setup is sorta complicated. You have to use a QR code that takes you to their website to play a video for instructions on how to setup the base connection to your monitor and systems. If you’re doing it for multiple systems (Xbox, PS5, PC), you’ll also need a couple extra HDMI cords, which at this price point, I think the folks over at Logitech could definitely have included. It does come with everything you need to get started for one system setup at least, and once you figure it out, it works really well. Haven’t had any issues with disconnecting or software glitches or anything like that. At the time of this review, it’s been about a month or so since I bought them. I’ve been playing with these on my Xbox Series X only, mostly because I’m away from home, at school. This summer, I plan to test out the multi-console features between the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5. As of this point, if you’re looking to spend some extra cash for a pair of headphones that do *everything*, I’d say look no further. Aside from a little complicated initial set-up, and the lack of extra HDMI cables for this expensive pair of headphones, the Astro A50X is the most comfortable, incredible sounding pair of gaming headphones out right now. Keep an eye out if you can catch a discount on these, I got ‘em around the holidays for $299. Though the stars can only reflect whole stars, I’d say with the minor complaints I previously mentioned, it’s a 4.75/5 stars for me.

Quick Overview
=================================
There are a LOT of choices if you're shopping for gaming headsets. Even at the top-end of the range, which these Logitech G A50 X Lightspeed Wireless (+Base Station) Headsets clearly fall into. Premium gaming headsets need to have features and functionality that justify their high price tag and we'll see if these can!
Overall build
=================================
The large box includes everything you need to get started except HDMI cables. HDMI cables you ask? Well, we'll get to that...
The headset itself is large and wide with smooth-operating metal posts to guide the earcups to their positions. The earpads are a soft, breathable fabric (replaceable!) and the padding at the top of the headband is well-padded. The right earcup has controls including a game/chat volume rocker on the outer flat surface and buttons/controls for switching inputs, Bluetooth, power, and a volume wheel located at the bottom rear. The left earcup has the microphone that swivels up and down. It's flexible but doesn't really hold the bend. We'll see if that affects performance.
The base station is a trapezoid with charging contacts and indicators for charging and Xbox/PC/PS. On the rear is the interesting part: You'll see 3x USB-C connections and 3x HDMI ports. The first HDMI port is an output to your TV or monitor and it's paired with a USB-C input that uses a special split cable providing power (via a power brick) and a USB-A connector to your PC.
The next pairs of USB-C/HDMI ports are for PS and Xbox. Logitech had to do this because each system uses a proprietary wireless protocol (hence so many headsets built for one system or another...). Here, it's taking audio in from the HDMI feed and using USB-C for the microphone. It's a bit to set up, but it does work well in practice.
Initial setup
=================================
First, peel off the plastic film protecting the charging contacts on the base station and set the headphones in. You can't simply drop them in unless you're lucky. You'll need to adjust one cup or another slightly until you see the charging lights go on. It's not a big deal, but be sure to take the time to make sure they're charging before you walk away.
Next we need to connect up all the HDMI and USB-C connections. First, I started by plugging in the included power brick (multiple plug adapters are included for international use) and connecting the special split cable to the power port on the base station. The cable's end is red and so is the proper port, so it's easy to match it up. From there, it was USB-A to my gaming PC (Asus ROG Strix G18). The next set of USB-C/HDMI went to my Playstation and lastly, another set to the Xbox.
Note, I did have to remove these from my Yamaha receiver which was not ideal since I do want the option to feed sound through my home stereo setup at times, but we'll discuss that later. Also, I've heard that the setup can be difficult for many that aren't comfortable with A/V setups so Logitech does have some videos out there to help.
After that, I watched the blinking lights for awhile and decided it was time to test.
Performance
=================================
Starting with PC gaming, I was pleased with how light and comfortable the headphones felt on my head. Whether they were actually lighter or not than my Rig 600 Pro HX, they felt lighter due to the good padding and fit.
I fired up a few games to test including Sniper Elite 5, Warframe, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. All the games sounded great and the low, gravely voices used by the voice actors in Sniper Elite 5 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 came through loud and clear. Positional audio sounded at least as good as my old Rig 600 Pro HX. I say that because it's hard to A-B test these quickly. Warframe's mix of "space ninjas" and ambient music was another great immersive test. I didn't notice anything that the graphene drivers couldn't handle. Plenty of highs, mids, and bass from low voices and explosions with no distortion (I've had some on my Rig headsets before).
On PC there are a lot of customization options that were easy to access since I already had the Logitech G Hub installed for some other peripherals. In it, you can customize the sound profile, EQ, and interesting to me, the mic EQ and noise gate. I record videos/voiceovers on YouTube and for work and I was very pleasantly surprised that the "Broadcast" preset sounded very close to my dedicated Rode mic setup. I was concerned that the mic's distance from my mouth wasn't going to allow for a good pick up, but my testing went really well. I could see using this for recording if my Rode broke for some reason.
To switch to the Playstation, all I had to do was push a button on the right earcup and the input and sound switched over. Very nice! I don't know if I ever really need to "fast switch" between PC and consoles, but it definitely works quickly and as intended.
On the PS5, I heard some people had to select the proper sound/audio device, but mine was ready to go and I started up Nier:Automata and Sniper Elite 5. Both sounded great, especially Nier's mix of wilderness sounds, ambient music, and 2B's battling. Sniper, of course sounded great with good positional audio and voice delivery.
Switching to Xbox was a non-event with another push of the button on the right earcup. As expected, everything sounded perfect with no flaws I could notice. The ease and convenience of switching systems was definitely appreciated. With Xbox (and Windows) you get Dolby Atmos which is nice in titles that take advantage of it.
I didn't test Bluetooth, but note that the Bluetooth pairing is with the base station itself. So you're not going to be just taking the headset with you and gaming on your phone. You'll need the headset and the power brick for that. I get it since the base station is wired up with HDMI and other connectors, but I think Logitech may have missed a nice feature by allowing for BT natively in the headset.
Conclusion
=================================
Overall, if you can handle the price tag, these are some of the best gaming headsets I've had the pleasure of testing. I've used SteelSeries' top-of-the-line wireless along with RIG and "audiophile" headphones for gaming, and these might be the best of the bunch in terms of overall functionality. I don't feel like I'm missing out on much sound quality from my Beyerdynamic DT770s and I get the convenience of wireless, a great mic, and multi-system switching! If you have multiple systems and hate buying the "Xbox"-branded headsets only to find they won't work with your Playstation, well these Logitech A50 X LIGHTSPEEDs might be just what you need!
Previously, I had to feed everything through my Yamaha receiver and use a pair of Sennheiser (RF wireless) headphones plugged into the headphone output to game seamlessly between systems. I do lean more towards gaming on PC and Playstation, so a two-system solution may have been acceptable, but Logitech went for it with support for all three.
Having said that, do most people have their gaming systems all set up in the same place? I certainly don't so I'm lucky I was able to move my gaming laptop out to the living room to test this out. Normally, I'd have PC only in my office, with the consoles out in another room by the TV. Your mileage may vary on this point depending on your setup. Also, for more complex setups including receivers and HDMI matrix setups (yes, I use one for multi-screen in/out) this means a lot of HDMI 2.1 cables to get the maximum 4K HDR that the base station supports.
The ease of use and ability to consolidate may have me re-thinking my setup. The Logitech A50 X would be a perfect way to control all the inputs in my office if I moved a console (or two) here. That's something that I'd never previously considered.
Awesome review! The A50 X seems like a game-changer for multi-console setups. We love that the sound quality rivals wired options, and the mic clarity is top-notch. While Bluetooth on the headset itself might be handy, the base station setup offers tons of flexibility. Happy gaming!

Out of the box you can feel the care and craftsmanship that went into this headset. It was very neatly packed and came with a charger along with not just the standard outlet for the US but also for European use.
The dock is cool has the usual usb-c and hdmi connections on the back of the dock. It is easy to use (for both my Xbox series X and also my steam deck oled).
What separates this from the other headsets that I own and use? For me it’s comfort. It feels so much better on my ears very soft!
It has Pro-G graphene audio drivers and sound quality is impressive.
I mentioned the hdmi 2.1 4k passthru (use it on my Xbox X) which makes the audio (24 bit) sound really great.
I haven’t used the mic so can’t comment on that.
The A50x supposedly has 24 hour battery but with the dock it’s never an issue anyway so that is not a problem.
It doesn’t interfere with my other headset that my spouse used at the same time which is also a huge plus.
Overall this is a great product by Logitech and worth the price just for comfort and sound alone to me at least.
Thank you for your comprehensive review of the Logitech A50x Headset. We value your insights on the product's premium build quality, exceptional comfort, and impressive audio fidelity. We appreciate you highlighting the user-friendly docking station for both Xbox Series X and Steam Deck compatibility. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The Must Have Wireless Gaming Headset

As an avid gamer and a user of Logitech and Astro products, I have been eagerly awaiting for the updated release of the new Logitech Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED Wireless with PLAYSYNC Gaming Headset + Base Station. I'm thrilled to say that it has exceeded my expectations in every way.
Firstly, the design for the most part has stayed the same since the Astros A50 ( Gen 4), but since Logitech acquired The headset is comfortable to wear, with the plush ear cushions and an adjustable headband that ensures a perfect fit. Since the headset is the same dimensions as the previous A 50’s, my A50 mod kit ear cushions work on these as well, which I highly recommend you adding, because they provide a tighter seal for your audio. Logitech have implemented their LIGHTSPEED technology into the headset for low latency wireless connection.
The sound quality is nothing short of outstanding. The A50 X have added Logitech’s PRO-G GRAPHENE audio drivers, which offers groundbreaking clarity and response for precise audio separation, location, and timing accuracy. This allows for immersive audio that makes every gunshot, explosion, and footstep come to life. The 3D spatial audio technology is particularly impressive, allowing me to pinpoint the exact location of my enemies in games like Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex, and Fortnite. The headset also comes with Dolby Atmos, so if you are watching videos or movies that offer DOLBY Atmos, you will get the full 360 degree sound immersion experience. The Microphone has also received a much needed upgrade, with the addition of Logitech's Broadcast-quality mic that has 48 kHz full-bandwidth LIGHTSPEED mic uplink allowing new levels in wireless boom mic quality.
The standout feature of this headset is the connectivity between consoles and PC. An issue that has plagued the video game community for some time now, is for those who have all the major consoles along with a PC, that are having to buy at least one headset for your PS5 and then a headset for your Xbox and PC. Logitech has finally fixed this problem with their updated Base Station with the introduction of PLAYSYNC. With a push of a button on the headset you can switch between your Xbox, PC and PS5. The base station now comes with 3x HDMI 2.1 ports: 2x HDMI 2.1 ports for your consoles, 1x USB-C to USB for your PC and 1x HDMI 2.1 out port that connects to your HDMI eARCH port on your TV. Setup is pretty straight forward in that you connect the Xbox’s 1x USB-C to the USB on your Xbox along with the HDMI from your Xbox to the Base Station and the same for the PS5. Then you connect the USB-C power adapter to an outlet and then the HDMI out port on the Base Station to the dedicated HDMI eARCH 120hz port on your TV. If this is a tad confusing for you Logitech provides detailed steps in the instructions. Logitech also has a step by step walk through video on their Youtube channel showing you what to do, which I highly recommend watching. That being said, depending on what brand TV you have, you might have to change some HDMI settings to allow the eArc passthrough to work and you might have to change some settings on your consoles to get everything to work correctly.
Note: Unfortunately, Logitech does not include an additional HDMI 2.1 cable, so you will have to get another one for the HDMI out port for the base to the TV, and make sure it's a legit HDMI 2.1 cable, so you will get the 120Hz capabilities out of your consoles. A regular HDMI cable will work but you will be losing out on the performance.
Another new feature to the A50 X, is the addition of Bluetooth, where you can now connect your phone to your headset, allowing you to playback audio and take calls through the headset. This has been a great addition in that I can now listen to podcasts through my headset while playing games and control the podcast audio from my phone and the game audio straight from the headset. My only complaint about this is that the Bluetooth chip is located in the base station, so you can’t go too far from that base station before you start having connection issues and it’s only about 20ft. So using the headset just with bluetooth is not an option and I wish they would have put the chip in the headset like they did with their A30’s, so if i'm on the go, I could just bring my headset and leave the dock behind.
Another great addition with Logitech purchasing Astro, is that the A 50 X are now customizable in the Logitech Ghub software. In the Ghub software you can change your EQ and sound levels to your personal preferences. This is a great addition because you can now browse the community presets and see other peoples audio settings for specific games and have those settings auto default when you launch a game. There is also a smart phone app that you can download in the app store called “ Logitech G” where you can customize the audio settings for your PS5 and Xbox in the app via bluetooth.
Overall, the Logitech - Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED Wireless with PLAYSYNC Gaming Headset + Base Station is the must have headset for those who have more than one console and want a seamless transition between consoles and PC. Along with great audio, a clear microphone, great software and customization, you can not go wrong with picking up what I consider the best overall wireless gaming headset on the market now.
We're thrilled you're loving the headset and that it's exceeded your expectations! Especially glad to hear the sound quality is blowing you away with the PRO-G drivers and 3D audio for those epic in-game moments. Thanks again for such a comprehensive review! We hope you continue to enjoy dominating the competition with the A50 X LIGHTSPEED.

I’ve used several different styles of gaming headsets and the Logitech A50X is among the best I’ve used.
Wireless gaming headphones have revolutionized the way we gamers experience our favorite titles, offering unparalleled freedom of movement and convenience. The A50X sleek and cutting-edge setup provides immersive sound quality that enhances the overall gaming experience, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the virtual worlds I'm exploring.
SETUP
In order to take advantage of the highest levels of audio, you do have to utilize the HDMI ports. There is no HDMI cable included and HDMI 2.1 is what is required for the ultra HD audio resolution. Logitech provides a USB-C to USB-A cable and a combo cable. That’s what I ended up using. The single USB-C cable end plugs into the back of the base station while the two opposite ends (a USB-A and a USB-C) plug into the AC adapter and your computer, respectively. My computer recognized the new device instantly, and I didn’t have any issues using the headset. Even without the HDMI connection, the sound quality is exceptional.
COMFORT
The A50X headphones are extremely comfortable. The ear cushions are covered with fabric so they are completely breathable and I didn’t notice my ears getting overheated at all. I thought the controls were in a manageable spot and that the boom mic reached my mouth easily. The headband was a little stiff, but not what I would consider uncomfortable.
AUDIO QUALITY
The audio quality is superb through these headphones. I primarily played using the PC function and thought that the audio quality was above average for fps games. The mic quality is equally as good as the game audio. My teammates could hear me easily, and communicating with them wasn’t difficult at all.
OTHER THOUGHTS
It’s a little disappointing that there is no noise-canceling option, but the ear cups provide quite a bit of noise isolation on their own. You do have to have the base station in order for the headphones to work, but you can use these headphones with Bluetooth-compatible devices or hardwire them in. I noticed that as long as the base station has power, you can utilize the Bluetooth connection.

I have the last gen Astro a50 which I been very happy with thus far. But the Logitech A50x is on another level. I thought the old version sounded good and had good directional sound but man these new versions are way better.the new drivers are higher quality and it shows with the richness and depth that they put out. Vocals are super clear when playing god of war or any other story mode game. And the surround effects are on point. I play a fair amount of Warzone right, and you can now hear even clearer and you can tell where the enemy is coming from. Not perfectly but I was more aware than ever. That is very important if you play first person shooters. That is the difference from getting high kills or not. I was using Dolby atmos which is automatically activated when the headset is fully set up and plugged into the PC. The design is almost identical imo but more refined. The power button is easier to turn off and on. The button to switch input is very tactile and easy to find while wearing the headset. The headstrap is the same and still comfortable for long gaming sessions. Better than others out there. The retractable mic sounds great as well, everyone I played with has told me this. Definitely better than the previous version. Tho I don’t talk all the time it’s a huge selling point for many. The base station might look like a hassle to set up but if you have all of your game systems on one monitor/tv the. You literally set it and forget it. I personally have a higher end monitor and my PS5 is connected to my mini led tv. So I will have to move it from one to the other. Easy enough to do. Not a big deal. You can use this for just a ps5 or just a PC. Logitech just wanted to cover all the bases which I can appreciate. Long story short. If you game you know the A50 is used by many many top gaming streamers and that’s because they really are the best. Now they are definitely goin to be the top choice. You can even use these as Bluetooth headphones too they sound soo good. You get what you pay for. They did go up In price a little bit but I feel it’s warranted. I’m more than happy with them. You will too I’m sure of it. Hope this helps! Oh yea one thing I wish Logitech included was an HDMI. I know we all have extra but some people don’t so that’s an added expense.

I’ve always used ASTROS, when my old pair wore out after years and years of owning them I went to look for a newer pair. I found these. They hit all of my selling points I want to find in a headset, being a gamer across multiple platforms it’s multifunctional so I don’t need a headset for each when I switch. The sound quality is amazing, for all games I play it gives the best quality in a headset I have found (this is my personal opinion). The comfort is a big, big FACTOR for gaming if you do longer hours you don’t want plastic to sweat your ears and head it just doesn’t feel good, the earphones are very comfortable and the headset strap at the top also has a cushion on top so it’s all around quality fit. The battery life far exceeds my old headset for longer uses before charging.
This could be a user error but it doesn’t seem to go as loud as my a40s, I could probably fix this I just don’t know how. Still a 10/10 for me. I’d definitely purchase again.
Thank you for your kind words about the Astro A50! We're glad you're enjoying the sound quality, comfort, and multi-platform compatibility. We'll look into the volume concern you mentioned. Your feedback is valuable to us as we strive to improve the gaming experience.

THE BREAKDOWN:
The Logitech – Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming headset really delivers the quality and premium experience. I personally have been waiting for the “One to rule them all” headset. It has been frustrating not being able to use my current headset with PC and Xbox.
The fit and finish are remarkable. The earcups are the softest I have seen used to date. My only complaint is the top pad is slightly uncomfortable to me.
The sound is amazing!! These 40mm graphene drivers are excellent the sound produced is clear, precise and just on point! One negative thing for me is there is no noise cancelling. I cannot be fully immersed in a game without hearing surrounding noises, and with teenagers in my house there is a ton of background noise. The amazing sound quality almost drowns out the ambient noise but it is still there.
The docking station is well designed and made. It has almost all the spots you need for all your gaming needs. It has a spot on the back for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. The ports are USB-C input for a PC, 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs with USB-C for gaming consoles and a HDMI 2.1 output. It is easy to switch between sources by using the button on the earcup. This makes it easy to switch between Xbox and PC instead of unpairing and pairing! The headset has magnets and connects to the base very easily.
Another issue that I see is that you must have the base to use the headphones. You cannot just take these headphones with you and use them Bluetooth without the base.
PRO’s:
- Absolutely stunning sound quality
- Solid build and premium design
- The mic is amazing
- Battery life
CON’s:
- No noise cancelling
- Must have the dock to use

First off, I was sent the wrong color, so boo on that. I really wanted to see the white one, but it’s not a huge deal.
Out of the box you get the headset, the base, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a USB-C to USB-A and USB-C, about four different type of power adaptor in case you’re in a different country I guess, and inserts.
You are encouraged to scan the QR code so you can have videos help you set up what is quite a confusing set up process if you want to connect a PC, a PS5, and a XBOX series X/S. In my case, I only have a PC, so setting things up was quite easy…ish.
I used the USB-C to USB-A and USB-c cable to plug into the outlet and the base. Once everything powered on, You turn on the headset, and press the switch button. If you do not do this, your base may be on xbox or ps5 mode, and you will not be able to pair to your pc via Bluetooth. Yes, I learned that the fun way.
One of the more frustrating parts is how reliant the headset is to the base. I thought it would be just a slightly glorified charger, but it’s a tether if you will. If you have your laptop with you and your headset, and you walk away from the base, you will start to experience cut offs in your sound.
A side frustrating note, I downloaded the dolby access app from the Microsoft store, and when I launched it, it asked me if I wanted to try the 7 day trial or pay. The included documentation states that “once connected, Dolby Access will detect your device and activate Dolby Atmos for headphones.” Nope. I uninstalled and reinstalled about three times, and every time, it didn’t detect my headphones and kept asking to me try the trial or pay. A bummer that I couldn’t experience Dolby Atmos.
Once I paired it, I turned on a movie for a quick sense of the sound. About a minute into it, I kept hearing a beep that occurred every 15 seconds, and sound kept cutting off. This lasted for about 3 minutes. This hasn’t happened since, but it was quite unusual.
So far, I feel like I have a buggy headset or something.
The sound is pretty good. I chose a movie that has an awesome audio fx, and I could hear an almost surround sound effect during my test. During my game test, I was able to toggle between voice and game sound. I really like this feature. The volume wheel is easily accessible, so another plus.
The mic is a always there, bendy/flexy thing that offers pretty good sound according to my friends that I had a session with. I do wish I could detach them though.
I think this is one of the few headsets that I’ve reviewed that do not have RGB lighting on it. I feel like RGB is becoming less of a thing these days. I see laptops dropping more and more RGB lighting. Maybe there’s a new trend coming soon? I don’t mind it. I like it when laptops and accessories are a bit more muted and don’t scream “I’m a gamer!”
The headsets themselves feel pretty light compared to others I’ve used. I had a 2 hour gaming session, and it got a little warm after a while, but I didn’t feel like my head was being pushed into my neck. My one little complaint is that on the right side there is a wire there. I don’t understand the point of letting that one wire be the only wire in the whole headset that’s there.
I like the overall industrial design that the AX50 have. With the two metal cylinders that control the height adjustment of the headset, it gives it a more premium feel to it. It’s a good mix of plastic and non-plastic material.
This was a difficult one for me. I do like the design minus one weird design choice, the dolby atmos couldn’t even be accessed unless I decided to pay up, the sound was pretty unstable minutes into its first time use, and it’s almost tethered to the base. I’ve never had Astro headsets before, and at it’s premium price point, it’s difficult for me to confidently say that I would recommend it, but if you have the cash, and don’t mind a few of the negatives that I experienced, then I say go for it.
One of its biggest selling point is to easily switch between a PC/PS5/XBOX with a push of a button. If you only have one of those three, I would say pass, but if you have at least 2/3, then a yay.
We apologize for the less-than-ideal experience you had with the Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset. Finally upgraded from my gen2 A50’s. I use them for Ps5 and PC so the multi platform compatibility is very convenient. The new drivers are less bass heavy and have much clearer highs while still having punchy and booming low end. There is much less clamping pressure on the cups that make it very comfortable for long sessions and great while I’m wearing glasses. I am very happy with my purchase but I do feel for $400 after tax it should have came with its own hdmi 2.1 cable.
We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying the upgrade to the A50 X! The multi-platform compatibility and improved audio are standout features. We appreciate your feedback on the HDMI cable and will consider it for future product iterations. Thanks for choosing Astro!

On par with Audeze Maxwell’s

1: Lets get a few things out of the way to actually HELP OTHERS with a review: I have a 48 inch LG C1 OLED and yes, they work just fine, no sound issues. Keep in mind you HAVE to use HDMI 2.1 HighSpeed cords both to your display, the base station, and your console. From my understanding, this base station works as a “passthru” so it will make ALL sound play through your headset. I havent messed around with figuring out if you can have the sound come out of the TV and the headset. I know theres a setting for this on the Xbox console itself, but I highly doubt that will have any effect on it. I dont like that, because if I’m gaming, I want others to know, otherwise it’s super quiet in my room, and it just sounds like I’m yelling at nothing. 2: I try to buy the “best of the best” when it comes to tech. I had the Audeze Maxwells before this, but they are HEAVY. So much then when i look down they fall off my head. But theres a great solution to distribute the weight of them, simply google and research “headband cusion for Audeze Maxwell” and youll find what I was using for them. Now, this review isnt for the Maxwell, but I feel like these are a direct competitor to them, especially in terms of Price alone and Mic Quality. The Mic is amazing, but I think the Maxwell’s are better only in terms of the Noise Cancellation and the fact that the ling mic boom that actually holds it shape is very good. The A50 X’s unfortunately do NOT hold their shape very well and it is a HUGE upset. The mic boom on the A50 X’s always goes back to the original position and it makes me nervous when I’m trying to talk low if my coms are actually being picked up in the middle of a gaming match. 3: Another big downfall of the A50 X’s is the top cusion on the headband. Its very minimal and flat. It looks thick but collapses very easily. I wish it were replaceable with an aftermarket solution such as Wicked Cusions, but sadly I may have to come up with my own custom pad to put in there, because it definitely isnt thick enough. Its very flimsy and cheap foam. Other than that, super headset. The buttons on the side of the A50 X’s are almost too easy to press. If I’m laying down with them, my pillow will actuate them and go all the way to game chat without my knowing it, theres no sounds telling me this is happening, so if you’re having a late night chat in a party with friends and all of a sudden they arent replying, it’s probably because you’ve accidentally put the volume all the way over to game chat. Also, actuating the base station from the back of the headset is so easy its almost too easy. What I mean is that its overly sensitive. I’ve gone to the bathroom and came back and when i picked up my A50 X’s, they changed to PC mode, which immediately turns off my TV and it’s an OLED and I dont like turning it off and back on repeatedly. I feel like it could damage the TV when turned off suddenly, because the way it shuts it off is very quickly, it flashes the screen, then powers off fast. I dont like that. So I hope Logitech and Astro read this review and make adjustments on future models. Give us a good mic boom and better overhead cusioning, please!!

To start i love this headset. Its very light, love the ease of use and button functions, easier to use than other headsets i recently owned. I previously bought the new Turtle Brach Stealths wireless, but after use i hated its functionality. Was annoying, especially having to always load the mobile app to get my pre-settings and many times it took long to load.
Saw these online back in Jan 2024, kept my out for them. Unfortunately they sold out on release. I watched YouTube videos amd decided i would buy. Bought on BestBuy because they have exclusivity to the white set. Plus i had a $150 GC to apply as well. These are very light, audio easy to manage from chat to gameplay, fit comfortably, I game long hrs on PUBG and feels great. Can charge using the base or via USB C cable. When watching the videos i was turned off a bit by the setup on the base, but when I received it, setup was easy and straight forward. Love the button allowing to switch between different platforms PS5, PC, etc.. its very expensive and as many have stated, disappointing an HDMI cable wasn't included for the price. I recommend it and already have recommended it to a few of my gamer friends. One of which i plan to buy and gift for her upcoming b'day. The 1 con I noticed is that after syncing my headset for the 1st time via Bluetooth to my phone, I have to manually connect it to my phone whenever I want usage on it. Previous headsets automatically would connect to my phone.

If you had Astros in the past you’d find the same features from their product lineup like chat/game mix, Bluetooth, and spatial sound support, with the newer feature being able to switch from console to pc with just the push of a button. Sound quality is improved on the new A50s as I’m being able to hear every minor sound for competitive games like CoD or R6, and when playing story based games with Dolby Atmos these sound just as good. The default sound profile is on the warmer side with higher frequencies reduced, which I like, but if you dislike that sound profile, you can change it through the equalizer on the Logitech G hub app on PC or mobile. Comfort is also good except for the slightly smaller earcups, and I wish the headband was wider because after a few hours of gaming, I noticed pressure building up on top of my head. Something that you should be aware of is to make sure you get a pair of A50s that don’t have a noticeable white noise when nothing is playing because my first pair had so much of it that I swapped them for a new pair, since that noise was kind of hurting my ears. When comparing them to my pair of Sennheisers they actually perform fairly well, with the only downsides being less soundstage and detail retrieval, but their convenience and ease of use makes me recommend them. The downsides are the price for an all plastic headset, its quality still needs to be proved over time, and there’s some issues when using certain monitors or TVs which were hopefully addressed on the latest firmware update.

This headset sounds great but can be complicated to find the optimal settings on console...PS5 for my case....you can set it up with USB C or HDMI but there are downsides to certain games you play using one or the other....the headset itself sounds great and is top notch comfort as long as you setup the height correctly etc. Feels high quality mine came in with no scratches. It is slightly overpriced though but I went for it just in case I ever got a different console along side my PS5, the mic is probably the best too on wireless gaming headsets. It's all about what you want, I'm currently testing the pulse elites as well which sound great..but on certain games I preferred the A50x more and vice versa....all in all you want something that's going to be comfortable on your head and sound good. I recommend if you have the money, you have to pay to play on this one. Lastly it depends on your setup, you need everything close together in one area if you want to switch seamlessly between your consoles or PC...if you have separate setups you probably need to look elsewhere.

They're very very expensive, but the excellent audio quality for gaming and fair for music, plus the fact that they never run out of battery, plus the fact that you can connect them to up to 3 devices through cable at the same time while you have then connected to something else via Bluetooth is insanely convenient, and you just swap devices by clicking a button. Very comfortable too. Very good clear sounding mic, the only thing is that picks up a lot of noise from the exterior.
