Love the fact that you do not have to even be pointing directly at entertainment system, at least I don't . It has yet to miss on a transfer from one platform to another however I feel that getting it to do TV or Receiver specific functions (act like the stand alone TV remote) is not a simple process. I had a first generation Harmony remote that finally kicked the bucket and it worked better in acting as a stand alone remote but not as good at getting all the components to change over. Setup was cool I only use the phone app to keep things simple.

Really enjoying this little device as I’m utilizing through my Alexa smart speakers. I was unsure at first on how easy the set up would be after reading other reviews however it was quite simple and mater of fact for me and didn’t take very long before it was fully operational. I’m having one issue with the infared signals to my samsung audio system (it doesn’t trigger 100% of the time). Other than that I love it and will buy one for my mother.

    Amazing Remote

I never thought I'd love a remote as much as I love this one. I used to have anywhere from 3-4 remotes out on the coffee table at any given time and the Harmony remote has replaced all of them perfectly. The box includes the hub and remote, as well as cables and a mini IR blaster. The hub goes where your devices are and is the device that sends the IR signals out. I have a Comcast X1 box, Apple TV, and a Blu-ray player all behind the TV. Direct line of site is not necessary according to Logitech and my hub works without any problems sitting on top of the Blu-ray player. The mini IR blaster is only needed if there's a device the hub can't reach. The remote has a nice weight to it and feels comfortable to hold. It is also wirelessly paired with the hub, so you don't have to worry about having line of site for that either. The setup process was long, but it was super easy. The app will ask you for the manufacturer and model number of all the devices you have and as long as it's in Logitech's database the commands will automatically be programmed. Logitech seems to have every device known to man and I didn't have a problem looking up any of my things, but anything else can be programmed manually. The steps in the setup process were very granular and I think that is to make sure everything is setup correctly, but it did get a little tedious. After the devices are set the last thing to do is program the 'activity' buttons. There are 3 of them on this remote and each button can be set for two activities via a short press or a long press. The 'Watch TV' activity for me turns on my TV, cable box, switches the TV input to cable, and maps the buttons on the remote for controlling the cable box. The setup is similar for my other devices. As long you're not using anything else for control this works like magic. If you were to switch the TV input with a different remote and start using something else the remote still thinks it's on whatever the last activity button you pressed. It's fairly easy to recover from this in the remote app, but not so much on the remote itself. It does such a good job at controlling everything that I've rarely encountered that issue, but it's something to be aware of. It's also worth noting that the voice features on the Comcast X1 and Apple TV do not work on the Harmony remote either. Except for maybe the Harmony Elite I don't think you can do better than this remote. It's probably the best money I've spent on my home theater setup.

I have had a number of different universal remotes over the years and this one was very easy to setup and use. Only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that it takes a little while to boot everything up. I haven't timed it, but I would say almost a minute to start TV, DirectTV and receiver. One other small thin is that I needed to use the RF extender for the TV and had to buy an adapter to plug it in.

    Amazing Remote

I never thought I'd be so stoked on a remote, but this has replaced the 3 or 4 remotes I used regularly almost flawlessly. The setup process is pretty simple. The hub, which connects to your network and sends the signals out, is placed near your devices. It doesn't need direct line of site and I had no problems placing it on top of them. From there it is programmed via the app. The app programs the remote for everything based on its database and Logitech seems to have pretty much everything known to man in there, so setup is pretty simple, if a little drawn out. The remote doesn't have a normal 'On' button, but several 'Activity' buttons, which are also setup via the app. Each activity button dictates what gets turned on and what device the buttons on the remote are mapped to control. There are 3 activity buttons on the remote, though you can setup different activities based on long and short presses, so effectively you get 6 of these on the remote. I found these all to work extremely well for everything I have. The only downfall I found in this setup is that if something external changes an input or turns something on/off the remote gets out of sync. This can be fixed via the app, but if you don't have easy access to it you may find you have to manually turn certain things on or off. Basically it means you have to use this remote for everything for it to work like it should. Fortunately, it's a really good remote, so that isn't an issue for me. The remote itself has a real nice weight and has a nice curve to it that makes it comfortable to hold. It's wireless to the hub, but not via IR, so you don't need line of site on the hub for the remote to work. This is especially nice if you have things in a cabinet or, in my case, behind the TV. One thing to note is that if you're used to using the voice search on Apple TV, Roku, Amazon, etc., that's not supported on this remote. I don't consider this a knock against it because with manufacturer restrictions it probably isn't even possible to support all of those voice options anyway. The hub can actually be controlled via Amazon Echo or Google Home if you have one, so you still get some voice options, though they're a little basic. It's definitely one of the more expensive universal remotes, but if you're in situation where you think you need one I don't think you can do better than Logitech. I've never been so happy to shove my 5 or 6 remotes underneath the coffee table for good.

This Home Harmony system is awesome. We bought a new TV and our cable remote required us to point it at the Cable Box/TV *WAY* too long. So I ended up running my television all night any time the kids 'turned off' the TV. With this system, all of that is irrelevant because this uses Radio Frequency, not IR. In fact, I can turn on my system from another room across the house now! Oh... and I also have the ability to use my Harmony system online from somewhere outside the house. I will say the setup takes some time - but hey, I'm customizing all these different devices. I did mine on an Android tablet - not sure about how the PC setup works. Great system - I'm not sure how I did without it before (OK, I know how, I used a thousand different remotes!)

Initial set-up was a little complicated, and the instructions could have been better. Once finally set up it worked pretty well. We bought this for our 88 year old father to try to simplify things for him. He had 4 remotes and would get confused using them. This helped, but a couple times it lost synchronization and he didn't know what to do. Luckily we set up the app on my phone and I could re-synch it remotely.

I have used Harmony products for years. This is a great product. If you are like most in my family, you are never far from your phone or tablet. Everyone now has access to the "Remote" at one time. Set up was a breeze. All of my components were on the online set up wizard. I also control the dimming lights in the room.

I bought this remote to use with a Vizio tv and an Nvidia Shield box. Wife didn't like the Nvidia remote. This remote works well, but you have to program every single button one at a time to make it work. Plus, you need your phone or tablet (I use an Ipad), so you can download the Harmony app. You do all the remote programming through the app. I spent numerous evenings over a couple weeks getting the basics figured out. It will control everything you have that runs by remote, but its a process! Don't try to program all your equipment at once. I had to start over and program one piece of equipment at a time. If your looking for instant gratification, look at something else. And don't try to do it when the wife wants to watch her favorite show! It works well once you figure it out, but it will test your patience.

Works great, but beware Samsung's Anynet+

I like the idea of the hub and remote and the system is now working flawlessly but getting to that point took about a month. It turns out Samsung's Anynet+ is basically incompatible with this remote, but without Anynet+ I am not able to use the HDMI cable from TV to receiver for the ARC (audio return channel), which was something I wanted to do to cut down on cable clutter. It was a long process of elimination to find out Anynet+ was what was causing the problems. By then I had deleted everything and started over at least four times. Once I figured out that Anynet+ was the problem, the solution was to turn off Anynet+ and run the TV audio to receiver via optical cable. At that point, everything started working perfectly. The Harmony Home Companion now works perfectly. Even using voice through an Amazon Echo works most of the time, but that's an Amazon issue, not Harmony. My one ongoing gripe is that the remote is not back-lit. That frustrates me every time I need to use it as I normally only watch stuff in the evening.

So I got the harmony hub to replace a remote control cable box as well as a AV receiver, DVD player, and flat screen remote. The set up was pretty straightforward as long as I knew exactly the model number. So I would suggest getting the model number from your flatscreen before you install it or save the manual, otherwise it’s a pain to take pictures of the model number when it is an inch and a half away from the wall. The only limitation that I saw is that it can only do eight remotes. Otherwise it is a good product.

I wasn't sure how this worked, but I had a previous old Harmony Remote which stopped working. I have a stereo cabinet made from a dining room buffet with four doors on the front and shelves in both sides of the cabinet with solid wood between the sides and solid wood doors. My stereo receiver, TiVo DVR, DVD player, and Karaoke player are within the cabinets. The Harmony Remote with its extended Hub and transmitters were very easy to setup and the activities control components on all four shelves across the two sides of the cabinet. I am very pleased with setup, installation, and easy of use with both the provided remote and iOS iPhone app!

Push the music icon, you hear the stereo, push the movie button, dvd and sound surround, push TV - well you get it. Was a pain in the very low back to set up up. Turns out that as my cabinet contains compartments I needed to order an extra IR pickup. Once all was in order, my wife was happy, so I am happy. Four stars only because of the setup woes. In use for 4 weeks - very happy with the product.

I bought this to replace a Harmony 550 that I could no longer program, and because of the functionality I could get through Google Home + IFTTT. The programming is relatively simple, but needs knowledge and interest in the technology being controlled. This isn't just plug and play situation, it doesn't automatically detect your setup but does guide you step by step on everything you'll need to do and find. I ran into a couple things that didn't work exactly right due to quirks of my setup. I was able to figure it out, but I assume most will run into something that needs knowledge-based tweaks. After initial setup, and the creation of Actions (turning on multiple devices and switching them to the correct input), you can get into optional customizations for buttons. Since the remote doesn't have a screen, you are limited in the controls you can add to just the physical buttons and long pressing them. There were things I could do before with my 550 that can only be done with the app now. Speaking of which, for real power users, you have to get used to the app. You can't switch to device control mode on the remote, so if you want to do something that isn't part of the current action you have to use the app. The app is good, I haven't really had any problems using it. I could definitely see someone having a cheap tablet dedicated to just remote duties. The actual physical element of the Hub was easy to setup as well. Just plug stuff in and place somewhere that will have a view of every component. I put it on shelving off to the back corner of my living room and it works as well if not better than ever other remote I've had. Since the Hub and IR repeater stay stationary, and the remote simply sends signals to the Hub, you don't need to be aiming the remote at anything, or even be in the same room, to use it. Side benefits: I now have a normal remote control for watching TV and movies on my XBox One, and using Google Home I can start actions just with my voice. Hopefully more fine grained controls will come shortly. If you've already invested in a multi part entertainment system, after the initial setup this can greatly simplify your daily usage. It makes the most complex setups controllable by the tech averse, so it's also great for a family setup. If you want even more customization and control on the remote itself, the jump up to the remote with the full color LCD is expensive but might be worth it.

I already had a harmony hub so when I brought this home all I had to do was get it powered on, connect to the app, and it moved all of my settings into it automatically. Super easy to use, handles all my devices and smart stuff (lights, thermostats). Ergonomically it is not the greatest as the buttons are separated by the screen but overall I'm a fan

I have a mixed configuration of devices in my home entertainment system: LG TV, Bose sound, Apple TV, Samsung Blu-ray and Samsung Cable Box (Spectrum). I had managed to get down to just the Bose remote, however, there were still a number of steps to change between viewing modes. This was clear to me but not others in the household. Setting up the Logitech took a bit of patience and planning. Needed to collect model number for each of the devices and take an inventory of inputs to the TV and Bose. The Logitech setup App is reasonable and once all of the devices have been entered, the App suggests some possible routines such as "Watch TV" or "Watch DVD". The next trick is to make sure that you set both the base station and the auxiliary IR blaster in the correct position. I had all my components in a cabinet and place the base station in this cabinet and had little problem controlling these devices. The trick was positioning the auxiliary IR blaster in a position that the TV responded as expected. Took a bit of trial and error but now working. Overall, well worth the effort to setup. Now have single button on/off and control of my TV, Apple TV, Blu-ray, and cable box.
