Awesome Remote that works in numerous ways

The remote is easy to program straight from your phone. Shortcuts can be customized according to your taste. Currently, connected with the Logitech Home Control Remote with Hub is a Smart Tv, Sound Bar and cable box and it works fluidly! I would recommend this remote than the other "rechargeable" remotes and/or Touch Screen remotes since the rechargeable or touch screen remotes will drain quicker, from my experience owning an older Logitech Harmony One remote.

    Best bang for the buck...

The Harmony Home control is the best bang for the buck of the Logitech Universal control offerings, currently. Only reason not to get this, as supposed to the Smart control, would be for home automation. For some, that might not be important, but if you're looking for something that will perfectly integrate with home automation later down the line, this should be your choice. Only drawback on this is, it requires additional sign in when accessing through your Harmony phone app (the smart control doesn't require that, if you're already logged into the home network). Why get this over the Harmony Ultimate Control? Simple...battery life. If the Smart and Home control both allow one access to touchscreen controls, which if set up correctly have all the detailed controls that a person would need for each device, then the touch on the Ultimate home is not worth the additional money that would have to be spent. To add to that, Best Buy had a trade in program that gave me an additional 50 bucks to put towards purchasing this remote and I'm extremely happy I made the choice, as my Harmony 700 was on its last legs. If you're worried about battery life on the basic remote, replacement is super simple, but shouldn't be a concern as it should last a long time due to its not having touchscreen. Lastly, for those that have family members that aren't exactly tech savvy, the Harmony Home control is such a simple remote and the layout is much better than the Smart controls layout, as far as button positioning is concerned. I highly recommend this remote for everyone. I didn't really touch base on Logitech's MyHarmony update site, but even that is much improved from what one had to do before, with multiple Harmony devices! I think this remote (or multiple Harmony Home Controls) is a must have in every household.

Love the new harmony remotes. These do 98% of what the Pro? Brands do for ALOT less. Like most home automation, you need to take your time and set the hub up correctly. I’ve installed the other brands I.e SV, ProC, RT, And I keep recommending these to my customers. Why? Unless your a brand snob, you absolutely can control an environment with these. Plus, the APP comes with the system! No more adding licensing and creating different orientations to make it work on a smart device. Or hunting for that elusive IR command! I just wish Logitech would make the Companion Remote backlit. I’d happily PAY more for that. Is it perfect? No way, But it is definitely the best value on the market Out...

Having owned previous Harmony remotes, I was very comfortable trying this new hub-based remote. Works smoothly, although some of the macros seem a little slower than they should. Could just be powering on devices. Wish the buttons were back-lit, or glowed in the dark. Otherwise the remote is comfortable in your hand, well laid out, and easy to use.

I really appreciate this remote, and the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because after I configure it, some studying is necessary to remember how to use/access the products that are synced with it. This remote allows me to set modes of entertainment that utilize devices that the remote will control seamlessly. However, I don't necessarily have the option to control one device at a time. For example, the Watch TV mode will utilize the TV, and Roku, but if I'm watching a movie on the TV and want to turn on the entertainment system, have to select a different mode, or I have to use the app on my phone to turn on the device, or I have to set the device as one of the colored buttons. Granted, the fact that I already know the resolutions to the problem I just stated should alleviate the issue, but the resolutions create different problems upon implementation. This remote could be much simpler to use if we primarily used the entertainment system, or a sound bar, but that's another resolution that creates different problems. Ultimately, I would definitely recommend this remote, and the hub. I think the hub and remote combo is the epitome of "Teamwork makes the dreamwork", and just like my beloved Dallas Cowboys, not all teams are pristine perfection.

Upgraded from the Harmony 700. My smartphone is never too far away to power on the tv and change channels. No more sync with the computer... adding devices and activities are extremely easy. One problem: after powering on my TV, cable box, and receiver, the cable box does not immediately respond... must use the original remote. Overall good experience.

I have had high expectations for this remote. It may be that my wi-fi router is older, but after setup, will sometimes have problems with the signal properly activating or deactivating devices. It is improving when I adjust the position of the IR blaster, and my wife enjoys only having one remote. I appreciated the easy setup even using my phone.

The installation process was a nightmare, mainly due to really poor instructions. It took over an hour to do something that could have been done in 15 minutes. Otherwise, the remote has really good features like pressing one button to simultaneously turn on (and off) multiple devices with preferred settings. It's ergonomic, has a good feel, and elegant.

Setup was easy using my android app on my smartphone. I was able to replace all the remotes for my Denon AVR, Samsung plasma, Oppo 103d bluray player, and Roku 3. App is very intuitive (besides being unable to copy and paste inputs from the devices to other activities). The activity function allows guests who are not familiar with my home theater setup to power everything on with one button press instead of fumbling around with 4 remotes and figuring out which input works with which device. I wish I had purchased this sooner.

I finally got frustrated with four different remotes and the Home Theater (HT) remote was barely responding when the buttons were pushed. I always had my eye on the Logitech Harmony remotes and finally went large, purchasing the Harmony Home Control. Now I wondered why I waited so long. Setup was simple and got it about 85% right the first time. It had all of my devices including the WD Live TV media player. I did have to go in and tweak some of the settings like delays to ensure a unit was fully powered up and ready to receive the next command. The activities as they call them are sequences of commands so with a single button push my entertainment system powers up the right devices, selects the correct inputs and in the case of music even starts a playlist. The surprise benefit was that the included remote is RF so the remote doesn't have to be line of sight with the receiver. I can control everything from any location, the kitchen to the eat-in nook to sitting on the couch. The only down sides are some of my devices don't have discreet on/off commands so if for some reason the device didn't turn on or off, the next time the activity does the opposite of what you want. Can't blame the Harmony for this as the manufacturers should give one command for on and a different command for off, instead of a simple toggle. The other down side is there is no discreet device control. So you won't find a TV or CBL button with which you can take direct control with the included remote. This can be accomplished on the app versions of the remote for Androd/iOS but that requires having your phone or iPad and multiple button pushing. You can program unassigned buttons on the remote but the labels no longer depict the action. Definitely paid a premium for all this value, but have now virtually eliminated my spouse complaining about not being able to turn on the entertainment system. Compared prices all around and it became clear the price controls by Logitech meant no discounts to be found. I look forward to figuring out how to use the Harmony to replace my barely functioning X-10 home automation system.

Remote has been holding up well for a month. Functions perfectly everyday. Set up was long but after that I have not had to make any adjustments. I only wish the remote would light up but I do understand that would take way from the battery life. Second Harmony remote and would buy another when this one stops.

I have a few logitech remotes and I really like them. However, I prefer the touch screen versions better. This was harder to program and not as customizable. This remote is ok if you just need basic features or something that can work behind walls and closed cabinets and don't want to spend a lot of money.

set up was a little tedious but easy enough. It works well with all of my controlled devices. The unit is small and comfortable. The buttons are clear. The rubberized texture makes it easier to hold. The ONLY complaint I could possibly have is that the buttons are not backlit.

This is a nice remote and the phone app is what I find myself using the most. My only real gripe with the remote is that the number buttons are quite slender making them harder to push. Other than that, setup is explained well and the remote functions as it should.

I have setup like many which includes a cable box, TV, sound system, optical switch, and two gaming consoles. This has made my life so much easier. Did I have a first world problem? Well sure, I hated juggling all the remotes when it came time to watch TV or play a game or listen to music. This has solved that problem. It took me a while to get setup. This is not some magic in a box. You have to take time to setup the devices and build your activities. One of the harder devices to setup was the optical switch which I bought years ago. This helps me switch devices to my sound system. It has no labels or markings on it. I started setting up everything else hoping to go back to that. Not a good move. Get all your devices loaded first before setting up your activities. I eventually took a picture of my the optical switch through BING and it located the exact model for me! Once I had that I started all over from scratch setting things up. I used my iPad to do all this. There are lots of negative reviews on the Apple website about the app. If you have patience and are willing to put some time in it works fine. Once I got all the devices loaded, including connecting my Hue light system, I started setting up my activities. One for watching TV, one for one gaming console, one for the other gaming console, one for music while I am working, etc etc. While this does work with Alexa for voice control I find it much easier using IFTTT and my Cortana Invoke (yes I still use and love my Cortana Invokes.) I have two. Our main system is in the basement. From upstairs I can say "Cortana, TV Time." and by the time I get to the basement my TV is on, sound is working and my TV watching Hue lights are on without me having to touch anything. I can say "Cortana, Game time" TV comes on, XBOX comes on, optical switch changes to proper channel for sound, proper HDMI connection is made. All this while I am getting something to drink to take with me. :-) I can say "Cortana, Work Time" and my sound system comes on and it changes the cable channel to the Smooth Jazz station. I have several others but those are my main ones. At the end of each session when I am done with one press of the button on the remote everything goes off. Everything. (I have not found a way to verbally make it all go off, but I think I can manage picking up the remote for one button push. :-D ) Is it 100% accurate all the time? No. Occasionally something misfires, but is is very very rare. I definitely recommend *IF* you are willing to put the effort/time into getting it setup.

This is an excellent universal remote for not only up to 8 different devices, but also your smart home control stuff as well. With this remote and a compatible lighting system, you can turn on your tv, blu ray player, sound system and then have the lights go off or even dim the lights to your liking. A few flaws I noticed with this system though are as follows: There seems to be a bit of a connectivity issue where my phone sometimes cannot connect to the hub. At first I thought this was due to a lot of stuff in my house using wifi but after some looking online it appears other people have this same problem. Two, when you control your lights, if you have colored lights, it cannot switch your lights to a specific color if you have it associated with the start or end of an activity. You can control the brightness though these and you can control the color of your led smart lights through the app, but if you want it to be all with the click one one button, you are out of luck currently.

I needed a replacement remote for my Harmony 1 as the battery wouldn't hold a charge any longer. After reading all the reviews on my options I settled on the Harmony Home Control. I was't looking for anything fancy and I didn't want to pay the money for the higher end units. My requirements were simple, turn all my devices on and off with one button and be able to control those devices that were stored in an enclosed cabinet. I have a Samsung TV, Sony DVD, Yamaha Receiver, DirectTV unit, and 5 speakers plus sub. The Harmony Home control works flawlessly and met all my requirements. It was very easy to set up and as an added bonus the HUB works well with the installed APP which I use from my iPhone. The set up was easy for me because I simply unplugged the outgoing Logitech equipment and replaced it with the new. I did connect the equipment to my Apple MAC first to download the latest firmware, register, and program my equipment. That was easy as I already had a Logitech account. The Hub unit only came with one IR Blaster but there is input for two. So i used one of the IR Blasters from the old unit and it seems to work well with the new. The only thing you have to get used to is the small numeric keys but that really hasn't been an issue for me. Also, note, there is no backlight so the keys do not light up in the dark. Because there is no backlight nor a touch screen, you don't have to keep the remote charged which I like. That means no returning back to a base for charging. Bottom line, simple to set up, simple use, and it looks and feels pretty good to.

I really like this set up. It was easy to transfer all my activities over from my 650 remote. Since this remote communicates with the Hub via RF, the dogs walking in front of the entertainment center does not stop the signal. The Hub communicates with my devices via IR directly from the Hub and also has 2 ports to add mini IR blasters (Only 1 blaster comes with this package). I have also added the Harmony skills to Alexa and can control my Logitech Harmony activities from my Amazon Dot. The buttons can be customized as you need. (this remote operates my TiVo, but didn't have a "Live TV" button, so I mapped it to a button that was not being used. The feel of the remote is good too. This package is way cheaper than the Ultimate w/ Hub and is just as good if you don't mind the lack of a screen. I wish the remote had a backlit keypad, but other than that, I am happy.

I purchased this remote and hub for my wife to have only one remote to work everything. It does just that. We are even able to link to our Amazon Echo and control the hub with voice commands. Only issue was the setup but nothing serious. We found turning off the hub after setting up each activity was necessary for our tv to be programmed properly. Overall we both love it and the ability to use our phones as remotes is a great feature as well. It works our Apple TV, Samsung TV, blueray, Denon receiver and much more.
