I will never buy a computer again without investing in this service. The online service I received from the Geeks made an otherwise catastrophic problem completely painless and was fixed during the night while I was sleeping. A+++

I purchased an Asus 2-in-1 Q552U laptop a little over 6 months ago and bought a Geek Squad Protect and Support Plan to have the internal mechanical drive swapped for a new Solid State Drive which I had also purchased. Geek Squad did a great job not only on getting the drive work done, but on getting the entire system turn-key.
I typically do not buy service and warranty plans; however, there are three things to consider if you are swapping a drive on a new computer: the Geek Squad Protect and Support Plan will cover their swapping the drive; the manufacturer’s warranty is going to be void upon changing the drive and, from the consumer’s perspective, the Geek Squad Plan can substitute for that warranty; and, there is a certain amount of set-up required for a change-out from the HD to the SSD and the Geek Squad has expertise for doing it.
I had hoped to also upgrade the computer’s RAM. We were unable to do so since one of the cards was soldered on the motherboard. If it had been possible, the same three considerations above again would have applied if a change to the computer’s RAM would have been done.
In doing the drive swap, I asked and they provided a start-up boot disk, they walked me through finding and downloading for a Linux self-booting flash and operating system, and they put the drive that came out of the computer into my external USB case that I gave them, giving me an external drive which I use for making clone back-ups.
Geek Squad also provides a full scan and computer clean-up once a year if needed as part of the Plan (with Webroot and C-Cleaner, I don’t think I’ll need it).
I got the full three-year plan to make it worth their and my while (Here’s a guy who never buys a plan, but buys the longest one from Geek Squad.).
Let me add that several of the Geek Squad personnel in my service area have been excellent. They impacted my decision to buy from Best Buy as much if not more than anyone. While evaluating between a couple of competing computers and needing to know whether the systems could be upgraded to 16GB of RAM (as well as with the SSD), they were priceless in getting to the answer and from the get-go were flexible in working with me if we were to find anything different inside of the machine when it came time to install the upgrade.
I highly recommend the Geek Squad if you believe you may need equipment support or protection.

Quick Quick Quick. On the spot fast, easy to understand even for those of us in our older years who are typically technically challenged. Walked me right through exactly what to do, what to look for, what I would see next. So easy and it was repaired perfect. Was back up and running smooth in lightening time.
Always smile at name GEEK ...but kinda makes me think of a Hermit type person. Which is not the case in my experience...they were Energetic and Understanding. Taking as much time and effort to ensur my comfort level of instructions. They should be deemed Geniuses...but Apple kinda coined that Title. Sincerely hope you never need to tap into this purchase but think about it now. What if you do need them later?? Add this protection and IF that day comes...I have absolutely no doubt that you will be so thankful you added this “just in case” Support & Protection plan.

This Samsung 4K BluRay player has worked great for me! The player looks sleek and modern and the quality it produces along with my 4k TV and 4K blurays is amazingly crystal clear. I would also like to take this chance to write a review about one of your employees that currently works at your Best Buy Grand Forks North Dakota store. Dakota Brust has been such a great salesman for me! He is so knowledgeable and has been so very helpful everytime I have gone in to purchase something. He isn't one to push you into buying something you don't actually need just to make the sale. He helps you be informed enough as a customer to realize the product specs and what you need to have the best electronics experience possible. In the past year he has helped me with a 50" Samsung 4k Tv, the Samsung 4k BluRay player, an Asus laptop, a tv antenna, along with many BluRays and 4k movies! He is excellent and now I find myself only buying something if he is the one there to work with me. Not that the other employees aren't friendly or as competent but he just makes me feel very comfortable as a customer and I know he is going to do the best he can to take care of me as a customer. Please let his store leadership team know what an excellent job he is doing and that his customer service is greatly appreciated! I will be in many upon many more times to purchase from him. Thanks!

I purchased three years worth of Geek squad protection when I bought a Dell XPS 13 laptop (open box) and boy am I glad I did.
For whatever reason, I had multiple issues with my system - rare incompatibility issue with Kaspersky & Dell causing crashes, - non optimized programs from my work which wouldn't view correctly on the UHD screen, - keyboard malfunction which needed replacement.
It was SOOO easy to get a tech to check out my system through remote access, to take it to a store or even have it repaired at the depot - all of which I had to do multiple times.
The agents have different experience and knowledge bases so for obscure problems like mine, it took a couple of tries to identify the problem sometimes, but I think it will all depend on your region.
In the end, I exchanged my system for an HP Spectre and Best Buy pro-rated a refund of my protection plan. I immediately applied the balance to a 3 year plan for the Spectre.
It was so nice not having to worry about additional costs for repairs or diagnostics. I know not everyone has issues like I did so soon, but I know in my case the plan paid for itself and then some.
Sooooo glad I didn't go cheap and skip the protection.

I absolutely adore Geek Squad! The Protect & Support Plus services offer an incredible peace of mind. The available protections and services are mind-blowing and so helpful for customers! I always purchase Geek Squad protection with every computer I have purchased through Best Buy for myself or family, and I can't imagine what it'd be like to not have these excellent, skilled technicians available to help me when I need it!

“Experts” say not to invest in the extended warranty plan services, but I am a faithful purchaser especially with all the electronics now in equipment and appliances. Since I am not techy minded to the complexities and sometimes very simple operating issues, it is a peace of mind that I can seek help via remote or in store consultations. Sometimes the resolution of issues is not always correct as I have had a few PC resets and the issue was not resolved; thus the 4 vs 5 star rating. This entails reloading programs, transferring data, etc which is cumbersome and timely with over 1TB data. Barring no issues, just having the system professionally and thoroughly analyzed for viruses, etc that the PC security programs don't always seem to 'catch' is valuable. Technicians are helpful in explaining my questions of operation, performance, etc. There have been times I have had to leave the PCs in the store or sent to their KY repair center. Return of the PC with the exception of one time has always been done before their anticipated finish date.

I purchased a surface pro book and at the time I did not get the geek squad warranty. I didn't feel it was worth the money after all if the laptop is as good as its ratings I shouldn't have an issue. A week later the power supply quit working. I took it back to best buy and they told me to get another one. After swapping it out 3 days later it locked up after a windows 10 update. I took it back and talked to a member of the geek squad. They explained how their warranty works and what they do for a customer. They told me to swap it out again and at this time I purchased the geek squad warranty. I haven't had a problem with the new surface pro book yet but only time will tell. I really do believe that the best buy warranty is worth the money.

Normally I don't purchase protection plans for such small things as a $250 computer but since I knew my daughter would be carrying this one to and from her jr high classes I decided to get it. So as I suspected the computer came home one day damaged and I took it in for repairs and it turned out that they couldn't fix whatever the problem was. They were going to just replace the computer with a new on but that particular model was not in stock at any store in my area so they sent me a store credit for the full purchase price of my daughters computer and tonight we will go get her a brand new computer. Excellent service from everyone I dealt with as well.

I don't normally buy warranties but this time I did at my partner's insistence and it worked to my benefit. I also bought a new HP notebook that had a bad drive. I took it back, got a new HP laptop, different model, that I thought would be perfect. It had very little use but a few months later it wouldn't turn on. I took it in and it was determined it needed new motherboard and memory! Jeez. It was sent back to the factory, repaired and returned to me in working order once again. No charge for repairs, shipping, etc. I have the laptop back but I'm having questions about the brand HP.

I had purchased 2 laptops for the kids from best buy and was offered the geek squad plan if interested. At 1st, i denied it but then while I was waiting I overheard a conversation. It was a very pleasant member assuring someone that it would be okay because she has purchased the plan. So I inquired and purchased. SOOOOO happy I did. Not 5 days later had nephews and nieces over and got a juicebox spilled on the keyboard. So we took it up there and was a little nervous because it was our fault. We received a replacement of the same laptop immediately, no fuss, no problems. THANK YOU!

I bought a laptop, at a discount, in store. It was a returned, open box, item. It loaded up fine and worked for one day. After the computer did it’s update, it died. It would come on, then go blank after a minute or so. I brought it in to the geek squad. They started it, saw the problem, and replaced my computer with a brand new one. They did not charge me the price difference!! They replaced it and were extremely nice in the process. I was overwhelmed with their attitude and helpfulness. I will ALWAYS buy their warranty. They have a customer for life.

Ok I am a Grandma and not up on all the new technology. So I love the Geek Squad and have used them 4 times in one month - once just to install all the software and drivers on a scanner I bought, once to figure out how to make my headphones and external speakers work. The other two times were just asking questions. Very friendly and efficient people. I wish I had purchased more than a one year subscription when I got my new laptop. And if you have to wait a few minutes for an agent to login, keep your eye on the chat screen for some very funny comments to entertain you while waiting.

Last time I got a laptop from Best Buy, I decided to go cheap and not get protection. As the old saying goes, you never need protection until something goes wrong. Now my newish (bought back on Black Friday in November) was great, and I really loved it but I had my PC on the bed and one of my dogs jumped on it and cracked my screen. Figuring BB was going to charge me to ship it back to Asus or order another screen, first question asked was did you purchase Protection and Support. Nope. "Sorry BB can't do anything, if you would have bought protection it would have been free". Well time to buy another Laptop. Accidents will happen but this time I didn't go cheap and got the extra protection. I won't get fooled again!

I had a very poor experience with Asurion, the extended warranty thru Office Depot after purchasing a new laptop a few years ago. I no longer want to deal with a "faceless" entity for warranty issues/problems. I want a PLACE to go and a HUMAN to speak with. After researching my options (which there are not many), I decided to purchase my new laptop with Best Buy and purchase the additional Geek Squad warranty. I hope all goes well with this, and I believe it will b/c I will have a person and place to hold accountable, instead of a 1-800 number and a website.

I usually buy any protection plan when I purchase anything from BestBuy so this was a no brainer. I had bought my previous Dell from Dell and their addition support they order was horrible. They would only rebuild my computer 3 times then I had to pay more addition fees to have them rebuild it again. That is just not right! So this time I went with BestBuy's Greek squad. I already had to call them because I couldn't get online. They talked me through finding out what was wrong and it turned out to be my internet connection. Very simple and easy process.

I have already used Geek Squad agents to help fix my malware infection on my computer, which seemed to have been worth the price I paid for it. They were always doing their best to help me, even if we couldn't figure out the problem right away. The reason I rate good vs. great is because I found some information inconsistent between the agents. I found out only after the third agent that I did not receive the whole package containing virus protection that I should have received with my purchase of Geek Squad protection, causing an unnecessary trip and purchase, to which I had to return to the store the next day to get a refund.

I purchased this 2 year protection and ESTATIC I did! They were WONDERFUL in setting it up, uploading the Kapersky security suite and have been EXCELLENT in helping me when I was having issues with playing video...not sure what the issue was. I called and it was no problem and it was fixed within about 2 hours. I was SUPER happy that I did not have to keep calling, take the computer into the store to get someone's attention to get help...Help was smooth and helpful. Thank you Geek Sqaud.

I have the Geek Squad protection plan and thank goodness for that. I purchased a computer and had problems from the beginning. I called the Geek Squad . Com and they helped me so much. The Geek Squad at Best Buy is great also. After I had to return the problem computer and buy another one, the helped me set up not only the first one but also the replacement.
I have used Geek Squad on line several times and always get fast, knowledgeable service. I will always have Geek Squad Protection. Thank you so much Geek Squad

When I purchased this geek squad plan, it was to go with a laptop that replaced a laptop who's motherboard had gone bad. Had I gotten the three-year plan instead of the two-year plan, or even paid for the extension of the two-year plan, I probably would've only spent $100 or so, instead of the thousand dollars that I ended up forking out. I'm not going to make that mistake this time. Trust me a geek squad plan saves money, saves you time, and brings peace of mind.
