So I purchased this laptop today and boy am I sure happy with my decision to do so. I checked out every laptop in the store before deciding on this one. It's very responsive and the graphics are great as well. I brought it home and installed Linux on virtualbox and dedicated 4GB of ram which is way more than enough to run the guest and still left 8BG for the host and both machines run fabulously without any lagging whatsoever. I highly recommend this machine.

    Great for a few months

This product is great... For a few months, that is. For a bit of background, I started college this year so, naturally, I needed a new laptop. This laptop was an excellent price (compared to other products) for the specs it has and reviews were saying that it could run games fairly well. So I settled for this laptop. As I am typing this review right now, the only thing I have open is Chrome and the Task manager. CPU usage is spiking between 50-80% and Disk usage is jumping to 100%. Fan is loud to the point that I can no longer actually take notes in class (not a major complaint, just a major annoyance when studying). Random hard restarts and crashes are common, often taking a paper or notes that I had taken down with it. At this point, I'm honestly half expecting a blue screen to show up. I only take notes, write papers, watch the occasional Netflix and Amazon Prime, play the occasional Sims (which I can't even run now without the laptop completely crashing), and that's about it. I've had this laptop for 4, maybe 5 months. I'm currently planning on investing in a new one. If anyone has any suggestions for what I can do to lower CPU and Disk usage, feel free to tell me.

Sorry you are having problems with your R15 computer. With the random crashes or restarts, you might back up your data and restore the system to factory configurations using the eRecovery utility. Test the system's disk and CPU usage before installing any third party apps or games. If you don't see the crashes, etc install any apps one at a time but test thoroughly before adding the next app. This is the best way to narrow down the possible cause. If you still need help with it or the fan noise becomes too loud, please contact Acer support from the info posted here: http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact. Acer

    These Reviews Are So Misleading

Bought my R5-571T less than 3 months ago and I really wish I hadn't there are much nicer laptops on the market for the price. The touchscreen/tablet mode is terrible I had a surface before the R15 and it felt like a real tablet. This functions like the touchscreen were added as a gimmick to increase sales. 2 in 1 is misleading since the computer is far too heavy to be used as a portable tablet and it just feels wonky. Even worse is that the touchscreen LCD are so delicate mine cracked by pushing it into a tablet. An Acer Level 2 tech support told me "We get a lot of broken touch screens, but unfortunately, because it's physical damage it's not covered by the warranty" So Acer, if you guys get a lot of touchscreens coming in for repair, could it maybe be that my physical damage was caused by a defective touchscreen? Either way 2 months into owning a 2 in 1 laptop it had to have the touchscreen disabled and I have a very expensive plain old laptop. Skip the Acer R5-571T and buy either a cheaper non-touchscreen model or just go for different brand. I would have and I'll never buy another Acer.
