This is a great speedy laptop for just about everything....web browsing, email, office stuff, Facebook, even pictures. The only problem is the display drivers keep hanging up and freezing the screen while doing certain functions. If it didn't do this I would have given it all 5 stars.

I got this for $699 and I think it was a super purchase. I was looking for something with decent hardware specs but didn't want to break the bank and spend over 7 if possible, definitely wanted to be under $1k though.
The competition had similar specs, but was $3-400 more. HP or the Lenovo model, but just didn't seem worth that much extra $.
The touch works great on this; the keyboard and mouse are responsive; the screen gets really bright; haven't ever had an overheating issue yet and I operate on "High Performance" mode; quiet, no nosy fans or anything, SSD of course makes zero noise; Including a USB 2 port was a great idea--they work better for wifi a lot of the times; I can go on forever.
Only problems I have are: backlight doesn't come on automatically and it doesn't stay on, the darn thing goes to sleep pretty quick which is frustrating.
On high performance mode at 100% brightness the battery goes in about 3 hrs for me. On balanced, I get 6-7 hrs, and on power saver, I can go like 10 hours, maybe 11. Works for me.
Never really have any freezing, or performance related issues. It's quick, cpu, ram, ssd, are all excellent and make sure windows 10 runs butter smooth.
I wish it came with a stylus though, badly! A ThinkPad I saw had a stylus with it which seemed uber-smart.
Grab a USB 3 hub w/gig ethernet and you're all set to go with this notebook. $15 on amazon.

Garbage - Warning... Do Not Buy!

I purchased this PC in November, 2015 and I'm writing this in July, 2016. My PC came up with the error "No Bootable Device" as soon as the Best Buy return policy expired. The manufacturer (Acer) ran me through the process of reinstalling Windows 10 several times before having me send the computer in. 3 weeks later, I received it back stating "we couldn't reproduce the error" (but they updated the bios - which I already did). The manufacturer warranty "doesn't cover replacing the PC" - they deferred to Best Buy for that... unfortunately, I didn't buy the Best Buy extended warranty, and I'm SOL for the piece of garbage I got stuck with. I'm writing this review from my new Mac, and I suppose I have Acer to thank for giving me that final nudge to make the switch from PC. I wish I could give a "zero star" rating.

Acer products were not my original choice to be honest, but after purchasing it for the specs compared to the price, I am very satisfied.
A 2 in 1 laptop with a 6th gen i5 processor, 8gb RAM, and a 256 SSD on any other brand would be far more expensive. It's sturdy, low price, high quality specs, and has a backlit keyboard.
I have only had for 15 days. I recommend uninstalling Acer bloatware (Store, cloud program, game hub, etc.) and unnecessary game apps preinstalled. Also, use the windows 10 promo app for a free gift card, which I was unaware of until looking around my computer.
Pros: High end specs for a very low price, well-built, backlit keyboard, 2-in-1 design, fast, and powerful. Exceeds the expectations for a college student laptop and definitely revamped the Acer brand.
Cons: Backlit keyboard is more dim in center, sometimes keys register twice on press, graphics are inconsistent (not particularly a worry for me), and speakers are on the bottom of the laptop. Nothing that affects the performance or use of the laptop.
Neither pro/con: 14" screen is a little big for a 2-in-1 but more portable than a 15.6". The portability is ok; I can take it to class every day without any problem.

Computer is great, I have never had an acer this is my first one and so far so good! love the HD screen and how it folds over into a tablet. Touch screen is on point no issues zero air gap. love the back lit keyboard that has adjustable dimming. very faast also starts up almost immediately because of the no hard drive its solid state so no moving parts. Keyboard and touch pad are on par with me very easy to type on and key pad is tolerable. Have to say its a great overall computer fast processor, good graphics, good size and weight for easy transport. I have big hands and still can type well on this laptop. Also forgot to mention this thing doesn't make a sound! only sound it makes is if you have something coming through the clear speakers (they are not bad I am an audiophile) have a system in every room of the house and also the thing always runs cool so no over heating and no annoying fan noise.

I was looking to replace a 7-8 year-old ASUS laptop but did not want to break the bank. Searching the internet, streaming Netflix, Microsoft Office are my primary uses - no gaming. I am not a super tech-savvy person, but after some research on what is available currently I determined my basic HD, RAM and processor wants. I walked into BB with something totally different in mind as the SSD hard drive was never on my radar and I knew little about Acer other than I associated with budget devices. A BB staff pointed out an HP or Dell laptop with SSD(can't remember which) and then I looked over and saw this Acer Aspire for <700$ with the same specs, full HD and I thought a much sleeker look and feel. The BB staff did not have a comment on it as they were not familiar and there were few true reviews since they updated this product. With buyer's fatigue, I made a quick decision and took home the Acer given it seemed such a good deal and haven't regretted it for a second. LOVE the 2-1 functionality, the sturdy build and it is fast, fast, fast. Fun using Edge and marking up my pages. Everything is leaps ahead of what I had been using. I do occasionally get the alert some have mentioned regarding the video driver error but have not had any real performance issues with heavy streaming of video the past 6 weeks. I think this a great buy for someone looking to update and upgrade without breaking the bank.

Bought it for the decent specs at a good price. It's a keeper! Operates quickly, pages load fast, sound is really nice. Screen is sharp with a decent viewing angle for sharing videos with a friend. Screen refreshes frequently, but don't know if that is an Edge problem, or the laptop. Mostly been using it with internet only. Has a nice wireless range -picks up signals faster, and at greater distance than my old computer.
So, I'm pleased. Still working out what are Windows 10 adjustments, vs the computer or I would rate it at 5.

Really pleased with this purchase, out of the box easy to set up and fast to load. I find the SSD to be very fast, accessing files and transfers are quick much faster then a standard hard drive. I uploaded 24gbs of music in less than 15mins on battery power and it has a USB C lightening connector for even faster transfer, cable not included.
The display is crisp and the mouse pad is user friendly allowing you to zoom in easily.
I've been using the machine heavy, running it through it's paces without error. Very pleased with battery life, fully recharged the first time yesterday in around an hr!
Would diffidently purchase again!

Surprise a little while ago is it does have a backlit keyboard! The response of it is great. The keyboard although not my favorite I have gotten used to it pretty quickly. The sound is also surprisingly great. For the price, you really can't beat it. I use it for school and browsing. Battery lasts a long time 6+ hours although I haven't really checked how long it lasted. The feature that removed blue-light is awesome since it makes it easier if I am trying to wind down. The computer as expected does not get hot even when I put it on my bed.

I purchased this machine for our organization because it has been cited to have good battery life, respectable specs (love that it comes with an SSD), is compact and light weight. We performed a clean install of Windows 10 Pro and have not had a single issue. Fast boot time, responsive, seems well designed but time will tell on longevity. I do recommend buying the extended warranty directly from Acer's website, though we were told you couldn't do that in store when I'm fact you certainly can. Wish Acer's accessory line was a bit more robust and offered additional charger and docking station, but that isn't something I can hold against this machine directly.

This laptop is great. It's perfect for somebody who wants a computer with a strong enough processor to do more than just browsing the web, but not too much to completely rip apart your budget.
For me, personally, I never cared for the the whole "2 in 1" Windows 10 laptops that are so prevalent now-a-days, but it was hard to find a laptop (especially at Best Buy) that did not have this feature. However, after having the laptop for a couple of days now, I truly enjoy this feature. With 2 in 1, the laptop folds onto itself and can be used as an over sized tablet. The beauty of this is the fact that the flexibility makes the laptop more durable and prevents it from being bent too far and breaking the hinges. It's also nice to sometimes put the laptop in the tablet mode when Im watching a video and just want to rest the screen on my lap.
HOWEVER, I primarily use this computer for heavy programming and it has surpassed my expectations for speed. I am enjoying Windows 10 and do believe this laptop is one of the best deals on the market.
Time will tell how durable this thing is.. but with new technology now-a-days, we shall see.

I've avoided Acer because of the reputation as cheap. Found this one and decided to give it a shot.
I had some concerns that the power would be enough to run some graphics apps that I need, but it handles that easier than my old 17 inch portable workstation.
The power doesn't come at the price of battery life, however. The combination of i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD drive deliver nice power and long battery life. I used it all day - off and on - in meetings recently and still had battery at the end of the day.
It is nice and portable and works well in birth pc and tablet mode.
A month in, it seems to be working well. No issues.
Saw the reviews that knocked the pressure necessary to depress the keys and found some merit in that. I can get use to pressing harder for the performance and battery life.

My wife's 2013 Macbook Pro suffered an unexpected death recently, so I set out to replace it. I love the screens on Apple's laptops and was considering buying another, but I decided to take her to Best Buy to compare laptops in person. It was during this trip that we were introduced to 2-in-1s (laptops that fold all the way back to a form factor similar to a thick tablet). We immediately knew that this was the type of device we would purchase.
There were several 2-in-1s on display running the full gamut of prices. All of the display models under $750 had screens that looked washed out or were <1080p, with the exception of the Aspire R14 and the Lenovo Edge. The Lenovo Edge sports lower specs across the board, but for just $400. If we were just comparing screens, storage capacity, and price I would have gone with the Edge.
I decided on the Aspire R14 because I felt the Skylake i5, extra RAM, and SSD are worth an extra $300. When I got home, I set it up and used PC Decrapifier to uninstall all the bloatware. Since then we have been very impressed by the performance. I expect it to be with us longer than the MBP did.

Before buying the product, I researched it using bestbuy and YouTube. This is a really good laptop specially with the solid state HDD. This gives you the freedom not to worry about quick movement when using the laptop. I brought this because it can turn into a tablet with just a flip of the screen. Windows responds well once you flip over to Lablet form. If you are looking for a great laptop that combines as a Lablet, I recommend purchasing this one. The price and specs is really good for what you are getting.

Been using this for the past month now and the keyboard is honestly the only area where this laptop doesn't get 5 stars from me. Key stroke is shallower than I'd like and the keys feel as though they're pivoting around a central point. Not a deal breaker but not the best either. Otherwise it has everything else in spades. Speed, display, build quality, battery life, trackpad, etc etc etc. This laptop is money and best off I didn't drop that much coin on it.

Still exploring this 2 in 1 laptop/tablet but what I can say already is that it starts up super fast--and that is so cool! Maybe it's because it's solid state but just having it turn on so quickly is reassuring that when this thing is old, it will maybe start up with the speed another choice in laptops would have when new. One thing to be careful of--the little blue power light is in an inconspicuous location and it takes thought at first to make sure I look at it to see if that light is off before closing the lid. I'm giving it 4 stars just because I haven't known it long enough for 5 stars.
