Tablet is Good but Win8 still needs work

I've had this tablet about 3 months and I've been using it heavily. I've managed to get everything I need done while only having to open up my full size laptop or turn on my Galaxy Note 8.0 on a few occasions. It's a good tablet with some quirks.
Pros: Screen and resolution are good. Everything is nice and sharp. Touch responses are accurate and fast. The tablet dock is awesome and the ability to "switch" it around and use it in different configurations is great. Full Windows has its perks for sure. The things I used to have to turn on my full-size laptop are almost gone. Working in MS Office on this device is not bad either. Undocked the tablet is light enough to comfortably hold for a good amount of time before your hand gets tired or you start getting uncomfortable. The battery is pretty amazing and I've been able to watch 2 full movie with using HDMI-out to my TV and still had over half the battery left. Windows does a good job in integrating the "touch environment" into the PC world. The tablet and OS itself is pretty intuitive and you won't have a hard time adjusting if you are already familiar with Windows 7 or 8 desktops. Dual stereo speakers are also nice sounding.
Cons: Now for the bad. Space space space space. Microsoft and vendors still need to work on being more up front about how much space is yours to use. I bought a 32gig open box, and my struggle is maintaining space on the device. If you try to use it out of the box without added some type of external storage to the device you will quickly become frustrated. First thing I did when I bought the device was install Office and went to the Market to find the apps that I had installed on m 16gig Android tablet. I found some of them and a few small games I wanted to try. After installation and updates I had about 5gig free. After I synchronized my email and OneDrive I had about 4gig. Doing some Bing searching I found some sites where people give you some tips on how to free up some space. You'll definitely need to buy an micro-SD card for extra storage, there is absolutely no way around it. After some tweaking and uninstalling of bloatware I have managed to keep a steady 8gig free. The next few cons are also Windows 8 related. 1.) Screen timeout on Metro IE, 2.) 2gig Ram is just enough for the conservative user, 3.) App ecosystem is pretty light, but on the Brightside full flash gives you access to apps and games not available Android or IOs., 4.) If you have a Google account it won't integrate smoothly with Windows 8 Metro.
To sum it up, I feel that Win8 still has a little ways to go, but it's getting there. I wouldn't feel comfortable give this device to my mom expecting her to be happy with it. It has solid performance and if you are looking to try out Win8 and start making the migration this is a good step. I'm hoping this device will get the free Windows 10 upgrade when it comes out.

The Tablet that functions as a notebook

About seven years ago, I bought my first notebook crush; an Acer Aspire 9800 for like $3K. Several people that saw me with that huge computer, complained to me because they felt that it was too big and bulky to be considered a portable notebook. These same people were not trying to hear me out as I tried my best to explain to them that they were basically hating on a replacement desktop computer that thinks it's a notebook. I loved that bulky contraption because although it looked too big to be a notebook, it had its advantages: like a full size keyboard and a 21" screen! Fortunately for the haters, the hard drive recently crashed. I guess I blame myself for that...don't ask.
So, now, that I am ready to move on from that first notebook crush, I have decided to look for a nice inexpensive Tablet, but I must be satisfied.
Well, I went to Best Buy thinking that I was going to buy a Tablet because I wasn't looking to spend no $700 plus dollars on a computer. But I felt like I'd be really happy if I could get a Tablet with a keyboard and not have to shell out hundreds of extra dollars just for my satisfaction.
The Acer Aspire Switch 10 is exactly what I was looking for. It stood out for me out of all those other Tablets; I just kept starring at it. I mean, for just under $350 bucks, I can actually buy a Tablet that comes with a keyboard? And I would be foolish to complain about this keyboard because it is included in the box with the Tablet! Oh, and I have to mention that not only does the keyboard deliver for me but I find the keys to be way more comfortable to the touch than that other Acer notebook that I have been clinging onto for the past seven years.
It definitely feels great to know that I can use the Aspire Switch 10 as a notebook with the keyboard or I can even remove the computer from the keyboard at ease and use it as a Tablet whenever I want. I can just detach the Tablet from the keyboard by lifting it up from one corner. I am very glad that I decided to buy this computer because I don't feel like I miss my Acer Aspire 9800 bulky notebook. That's a good sign for me because it's tuff for me to let go of something that I've been with for so long. So, if Acer Aspire Switch 10 has my attention, I know I got the right computer, right now.
I wanted a Tablet. Well, I got an Acer Aspire Switch 10 Tablet that acts like a notebook with an included keyboard that is well designed for it. The keys are soft and they don't make too much noise when typing. Also, I didn't expect a full version of MS Office 2013 to be included. How about that?
I notice that this computer doesn't come with a Tablet pen. But, hey, if you ask me, I'd rather have an included full version of MS Office 2013 as opposed to a Tablet pen with a trial version of MS Office. Besides, I don't actually need a Tablet pen because the Acer Aspire's touch screen can handle my finger with no problem.
There's just one thing I feel that is not so great about this computer. On my old computer, I could use a function key to turn off the display screen backlight to save power. I didn't do that to put the big and bulky Acer Aspire 9800 to sleep. I did that because I still wanted to hear my music playing in the background while the backlight was turned off.
For instance, I might have to step away temporarily to answer the front door or something. When I'd get back, I could just swipe the touch pad with my finger and the display screen comes back on with my music still playing.
But here's the problem I have with this Acer Aspire Switch 10 when attempting to still hear my music while leaving the computer to do something:
Somehow the Acer Aspire Switch 10 thinks that the Sleep hotkey is the same as the Display-Off hotkey. So, when I use the Display-Off hotkey my music stops playing in the background as if I had put the computer to sleep. Basically, I notice that the Acer Aspire Switch 10 goes to Sleep Mode automatically if you do not use the keyboard, the touchscreen, or the touchpad, before the elapsed time that you set under the power settings for Sleep Mode. Why should that be, if you didn't actually tell the computer to go to sleep? I mean, all you did was turn-off the display screen backlight.
So, you might find yourself leaving the backlight on all the time or setting Sleep Mode to kick on much later than usual when listening to music or downloading files that will take hours to complete.
I'll give you an example of something that happened to me. One time I had a 1 GB file to download. I fell asleep. When I woke up hours later thinking the download was done, I swiped my finger on the touchpad, and to my surprise the download stopped within 10 minutes because Sleep Mode was set to 10 minutes by default. In order for the download to complete, I would've had to set Sleep Mode to NEVER. Dorn-it.
Overall, I am satisfied with the Acer Aspire Switch 10. It has what I need right now, a full function Tablet, an included keyboard to turn the Tablet into a notebook, a built in camera and microphone, Bluetooth, an included full version of MS Office 2013, and all this for just under $350 bucks. I'm not going to complain about this product because there clearly is no need to. And, yes, I am satisfied. But, I still got haters. That's fine, cause I'm still keeping my Acer Aspire Switch 10; it passed as my first Tablet/Notebook crush :)
Best Buy, I kindly thank you for selling my first and favorite Tablet/Notebook PC.

This tablet is perfect for a student since it converts to a laptop and comes preloaded with Microsoft word. Its fairly fast with internet but it does lag on some sites. One problem I have sometimes is getting it to turn on. A couple times I've had to press the power button for thirty seconds to get the screen to turn on and I just got it a couple months ago. I've also had some trouble with the built in wireless adapter but I've always been able to fix the problem automatically with the troubleshooter. Annoying problems but not detrimental ones. Its very portable and the keyboard is the perfect size for me. Most of the time I love it.

I got this convertible laptop for my 14 year old son for Christmas, and he loves it. It's no Surface Pro, but for the money, its hard to beat. He loves that he can use it as a tablet or laptop, and it does everything he needs it to for school work or playing games.

I bought this mainly because it already had Microsoft office installed. That was a plus as this is for my brand new business. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be capable of keeping up with a small business but so far so good. I like the size and weight and the key board, while small, is easy to use. I like the touch screen too but if can be very sensitive and a bit temperamental. At first I regretted that there is only one USB connection and it is on the keyboard but I find it is not an issue. I haven't found anything that I would say is exceptional but nothing hideous either. For the price I am happy.

This is one of the best Netbook/Tablet combo around. The tablet disconnects from the keyboard very easily no fumbling just pull on one side and it's free. It also can be turned around to sit on top of the keyboard. It has Widows 8.1 full version no stripped down junk or jelly beans here however it's a 32 bit operating system and not 64 bit as Best Buy, states on their web site . It's very fast for a product of this nature and is sturdier than most of the others I have seen. Also the price can't be beat it has the most reasonable price for a combo such as this one. I have seen most of the others on the market as I have been shopping for a good one for a long time and the others are way over priced and most of them don't even come with a full version operating system. Also comes with Microsoft Office for home and students which has everything the average person want's it is not a trial version it's a full version with a product key. The build is very strong and the battery lasts a long time so what more can be asked of it. The only thing I don't like is the mouse pad which is very sensitive to my touch and I see no way to change that so I had to buy a usb mouse and that fixed the problem for me. This is the only reason I gave it a good rating instead of an exelent one for "Ease of Use"

I bought the Acer 2-in-1 tablet to take with me when I travel. It's light-weight, very easy to use, and I love that it came with the removable keyboard. I've had it only a few weeks but I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I purchased this product because I really only needed a laptop to run two programs that I like to use. Other than that I much prefer a tablet. This gives me the portability and ease of use of a tablet while still allowing me to have a laptop when needed. The only negatives are the short(ish) battery life, but I knew that before purchasing, and sometimes it seems finicky to turn on. However, I love being able to go back and forth from tablet to laptop on the same device. Overall, for the price and features, it fits my needs perfectly.

I bought this windows tablet as a laptop replacement. I love how light and portable it is. I also found Windows 8.1 to be easier to use than I expected. Its great for all the basics which I've done so far. Could have had a better feeling keyboard and pad, as well as the option for larger storage. (You can add only up to 32gb microsd). But overall its worth it!

Purchased this for my husband who is not particularly electronic literate. Easy to use, light, portable and relatively inexpensive. Loved the fact that Microsoft was already installed. Needed to purchase Outlook, however. It runs a little slowly if trying to watch video.

I bought this computer as a gift for my mother. It is rather small in comparison to the traditional 15.6" laptops, but it operates the same, and handles exactly the same also. I have seem my mother on here swift more often then usual, and that only tells me that she loves it. I have played with it myself from time to time that i bought an unbranded one for myself. Overall, this is a great lil computer to own.

This laptop is good for what it does. But its very slow to boot, the battery life is terrible and finding cases that actualy fit isnt the easiest thing to do. But if you need a true windows machine, and dont have the budget for a surface pro this is a good choice.
The keyboard is nice, has a good feel and sound to it. I have big hands and havent had a problem.
Display -The screen is nice and bright but the touch features arent accurate or sensitive, it usually takes a few taps to get it to do what you want.
Storage - Most of the included storage is full of acer bloat ware. But if you delete most of that and add a memory card its good. And it seems pretty fast once windows has booted.
Battery - As stated earlier is terrible. 2-3 hours of actual use, and 4-6 for a full charge. Verry dissapointed with that.

After my last laptop died, I wanted a hybrid to replace it, and this has done pretty well- it's Acer's first try, so there are understandably some bugs, but for the price I can't complain! A couple things to keep in mind;
-it's memory is a bit small, so you will definitely want to add a 32 gig micro as card
-I am still very reliant on CDs/DVDs, so I had to purchase an external burner

I love the price and the fact you get a 10 tablet with keyboard that runs a full version of windows 8.1. The processor is a little to slow to handle much more than Internet surfing, videos, or office tasks. That's my only complaint. Otherwise it is a great bridge between laptop and tablet.

I purchased the Aspire Switch 10 at Best Buy after doing considerable shopping. I was looking for an AFFORDABLE and convenient laptop that I could use as a back up and travel computer. My vision was an inexpensive item that I could take on the road and crunch projects for my work, email, use social media, and entertain myself with games and movies. This is great for that! And it is as a price that makes it nearly disposable. The SWITCH feature is also great because you basically have a laptop and tablet in one. I normally treat it as a laptop, but a little tug and it's a light and thin tablet for easy peasy carry on mass transit. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. My only digs are that its very top heavy, and the keyboard pressure does take some getting used to.
