Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Nitro5 gaming laptop's strong performance and impressive graphics capabilities, particularly for its price point. However, some users have noted that the fans can be loud during intensive use, and battery life is a significant drawback. The screen quality has also been a concern for a few customers. Overall, the positive feedback on performance and value is frequently offset by concerns about noise and battery life.

I'll describe the cons about this laptop Cons: - No DLSS 3 or Frame Gen since its a 3070 Ti - No Advanced Optimus, MUX Switch requires a restart - Running Freesync Premium only works in Optimus, if you set it to Discrete GPU only you lose out on Freesync Premium with the display - Power Brick is bigger than competitors Pros: - QHD Display looks great - 165 Hz is very consistent with testing - High TDP GPU with 150w on the 3070 Ti - DDR5 RAM - Better build quality than previous generations of Acer Nitro's - Freesync Premium works but only with Optimus

I got this laptop on sale for 300 dollars off, which given the components is a steal. It worked fine for about two months, and then the screen started flashing and flickering (see picture), making it unusable. This is without and physical damage or dropping or hitting the laptop. After a decent amount of time updating drivers and fiddling with display settings I plugged it into an external monitor where it works fine. This indicates to me that it is the screen that came with the laptop. Two months after dropping 1K on a laptop is truly unacceptable, and I'm irritated with Acer and best buy's quality control.

This laptop is a gaming powerhouse in it's cheap package. (I believe I purchased mine on sale for $700 / 800. Pros - Price. Great specs for most gaming needs at 1080p to 1440p. Display has a high refresh rate. Snappy performance elsewhere. Not overly bulky, cumbersome, or heavy. Addressable backlit RGB keyboard. Numpad. Cons - An all plastic build. Battery life leaves MUCH to desire for. Fans can rev up and get quite loud if you don't have headphones on while gaming. Speakers fire from an angle on both sides.

TLDR: if you are looking for a good gaming/workstation laptop, do not even hesistate if you see this thing on sale again for $999!!!! (Sadly i have a feeling it wont be again). Now to the review; This thing is an absolute beast. I had ordered another Nitro 5 with an I-5 12500h, and a 4050 6gb, 512gb nvme, 16gb of ram, with a 144 herts FHD screen for $999, the Srgb color gammut for gaming on the screen was ok, but didnt come close to all the other gammuts like for workload stuff and photo/video editting wasnt even 50% coverage in most cases. This laptop went on sale for $999 which was the same price as the other one i just mentioned, and is quite literally better across the board in EVERYWAY!!! I didn’t hesitate to order, and return the other one lol. The AMD 6800H is the I-7 12700H counter part so already a win there, the 3070ti in this bad boy is a full powered 8gb of vram and destroys that 4050 in pure rasterized perfomance even with the 4050 using dlss, even the 4060, 4060ti, cant keep up unless using DLSS with frame gen, but then i can just turn DLss on and and destroy them too. Because of nivdia and their volatage limit on the 4050-4070ti, the full powered cards that advertise a 140w tgp dont even make it passed 100w and if they do the perfomance just tends to flatline, you dont have that issue with this 3070ti. Ive seen comparison videos of 4070s getting outperformed by 3070ti and overall the 4070 was like 7% faster lol, not meaningful at all ib most cases and you will also be paying $1,000 more easily for the 4070 laptop, is that worth 7%? Not to mention the AMD cpu is more power effecient then its Intel I7 counter part which will allow more power to be allocated to the 3070ti, (not to mention their integrated graphics are better too, but this does have a mux switch and it does work) 16gb of DDR5 4800mhz ram, 1tb gen 4 nvme (its a micron NVME for those wondering), oh and did i mention its a QHD display (1440p) compared to most in this price range being FHD, so using DLSS actually makes much more sense, the colors are waaaay more vibrant and come much closer to the full gammut and spectrums for not just SRGB, but all the others as well. Both screens do only get a little over 300nits of brightness, which i believe the FHD gets a bit brighter but the colors are not as vibrant, not even close. Gaming on this thing is a breeze, i can play anything i want, at highest settings, and still be utilizing that 165 hertz refresh rate, even without DLSS on in D4 i was getting 100+ fps 99% of the time, with DLSS on balanced it shot right to 165fps because i have it capped. It can get hot mostly the cpu but ive experience no throttling at all, and the cooling system does work pretty good, you can tweak stuff in the nitro sense software with the fans, and types of modes, but just on default (no perfomance mode on, or quiet) and fans on auto, it surprisingly kept the cpu within thermal spec and the fans didnt sound like a jet engine lol. Now switch to perfomance and the fans can get a bit loud, if left on auto. The keyboard is responsive with a nice click to them, and it has the 4 zone rgb that can be turned on and off for those that dont want it. Has many ports to chose from and they all function as intended. Overall a great laptop, at a GREAT price if you can find it at $999 like i did. The laptop is mostly black with sime cool silver accents on the cents and some design on the lid. It also came with a 280w power brick which is pretty beefy, but id rather have more then enough than bot enough power. Charges increbily fast. Tbh putting it all in backpack or computer bag eveeytbing fits fine, with my mouse, mouse oad, and other peripheals. Really not that heavy imo, sure you can find slimmer but i doubt it at that price and with those specs. This was a no brainer for me, as i needed something for on the go, mostly because most of my time to game is on weekends and my $3500 desktop doesnt get much use in the summer because im down the family shore house almost every weekend lol. Worth every penny at $999, and i find myself at home playing on it too lol. Hope i covered it all for anyone looking at this.

Good value for the money. Sped up my video and photo editing by leaps and bounds compared to my 6 yr old Dell XPS which had the 1050 GPU. Easy upgrade to 64GB SoDIMM and adding a 4TB secondary NVMe. The only annoyance is the snap on back cover during the upgrade process which is tough to loosen even with a spudger. Also, the screen hinge was a bit loose, so I managed to find the nut to tighten during the upgrade process.

This laptop is the first pc I've ever purchased. I bought it when it was on sale for $900 about a month ago and it was very worth it. The GPU and CPU are great for gaming at high settings. The battery is ok for a gaming laptop, but you're usually going to have the laptop plugged in while gaming. The fans can be pretty loud at times, but with the right settings, it'll turn much quieter. The Temperature of the laptop can be very warm at times while gaming. I fixed this by changing some settings in the power plan and elevated the laptop a bit off my table. That dropped the temperature about 25°C while gaming. This laptop is very upgradable as well, being able to have DDR5 Ram installed, and I think 2 SSD slots. Overall, great laptop.

Powerful laptop, runs games really well for my needs. Reasonable price as well. The devices runs hot, so has nice built in fans to combat, however the fans are loud. Battery life lasts about an hour when gaming unplugged. I like the ability to change the color of the keyboard. The battery plug does not stay in very well.

This Nitro 5 has the stats where it counts and with the sale, it knocks it out of the park. This model is easy to customize woth ram, a spare pcI storage, 8gb graphics. Smoothly runs Diablo 4 in ultra settings. I'm very happy woth the purchace.

Got it on sale and have enjoyed it so far. I'm getting solid FPS in Diablo4 and anything else I've really thrown at it. The screen is....okay? and like most laptops with a GPU in it, it can get loud, but the Nitrosense fan control software helps with that a bit (at the cost of some fps) Long story short, I don't regret my purchase so far. I've had relatively bad luck with Acer products in the past, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

It's a really fast laptop for sure. The fans are pretty loud on performance mode so what I do is have a cooling fan under it so I can keep it in balanced mode. Also, it's pretty heavy which I understand because it's a 3070ti. But why does the charger have to be a brick. They could have made the charger smaller.

It’s a beast right out of the box especially if you got it on sale. If not it’s still a great laptop. Any game I’ve thrown at it runs amazing, even starfield. Battery life is very much lacking. Must be plugged in for gaming, or you’ll get a massive fps/performance drop. Other than that I love the thing, best laptop I’ve owned besides battery life.

I actually LOVE this laptop. My only complaint about it is where the plug is located. I'm sure a replacement plug might be better designed but the one it came with is just in an awkward position. The battery life is decent. Depending on your settings, I've been fine for 4-6 hours at times. I can play most of my Steam games on it. I haven't had any issues with strong overheating and when it does, I just turn up the fan for a few minutes and then turn it back to normal. It keeps cool for the most part. The display is clear, the sound is clear, and it's perfect for work and fun.

Great performance for the price. Easily handles any game including latest titles. The display on this unit is 1440p by the way and the colors are supprisingly good. Ryzen 7 6800H, 16GB of DDR5, 1TB SSD and a 3070TI! What's not to love! All of this without breaking the bank. The possible lower price than some other laptops of this caliber is likely due to the fact that it does not have aluminum casing, no "premium" look and possible lower grade SSD/Memory but that easily outweighs the price difference. Some components can always be upgraded of course. The Ryzen 7 is also well optimized for battery life. This is a solid gaming laptop and great bang for your buck!

For the price, this is a great laptop. Can run basically any game with good frames. Bad part is that its battery life is awful. Even with battery saving mode I only get 3 hrs. To be fair for a computer with this power its not awful but biggery battery would be nice. 10/10

No problems so far. Newer games are easily running on ultra settings in 1440p 80+ FPS and at 1080p 100+ fps. Spent two weeks( the return period) looking for better deals just couldnt find one better than this on any laptop. The 3070 ti is about 7-10% slower than a 4070 laptop and doesnt have frame generation but im not willing to paying an extra $500-$1000 for it.
