Pros: Perfect size, not too small, not too big. Not heavy at all. Love the touchscreen aspect of it, I use the touchscreen alot. I was able to connect to my home printer, so it is convenient to be able to print from my chromebook. Cons: I do not like that there is not a Delete button, there is only a Backspace button which is a bit inconvenient. Also there is no CapsLock button, you have to go into the settings to assign a key to be CapsLock. So that was inconvenient when I first got the chromebook, until I went in and adjusted the setting to my liking. So now I have my Capslock button in the normal spot. Overall: I would recommend this chromebook for quick access to on-the-go work.

I bought this laptop because I didn't want to spend 1000 dollars on a MacBook. I just needed it for school work (papers, power points, online hw) and it's been great I love it!!!

The laptop us good but quality not so great. My daughter number 4 key came off after a few months and I tried to get help to fix but best buy tech didn't help me. Now the cord prong to charge to laptop wont charge and twist off.

I'm totally thrilled with the Acer Chromebook R 11 2-in-1. Make sure you get the newer model with the quad-core Celeron N3160 and 4GB of RAM - you should get 32GB of storage too.
Here's what I like:
1. It's fast! Load a large page like cnn.com with lots of graphics and it will take a little time for everything to finish but even that is acceptable, the top loads fast, and everything else is fast in general.
2. It seems to run many Android apps very well! We've been playing some board games on it, like Tsuro and Ticket to Ride. It's great having a larger screen and the games play perfectly! Looking forward to playing Settlers of Catan on it!
3. Netflix works great on it! Video starts quickly and looks great, sure it's only 1366x768 but at 11.6" it really doesn't matter. The video looks excellent.
4. Battery life is great! Yeah, it will depend what you're doing but the first night I got it I was installing Android apps, trying web sites and watched a 45 minute show on Netflix and it was still at 75% after that.
5. I love having a 2-in-1!!! It's really needed with a touch screen and it's hand for games, some apps, and viewing photos and video.
6. Audio has good volume and sounds fine!
7. The whole family loves it!
8. The price...You get so much for the money!!! It's the best device I've seen for $300 by far!
What I don't like:
1. Sure, Android compatibility isn't perfect yet. I can't think of what didn't work but I think I had one app that would not install. I've done a number of games and productivity apps with great results.

Excellent value Acer R11 (Year 18 model)

The on sale Acer R11 at $ 249 proved to be excellent value and surpassed expectations : I had been looking to replace an old Samsung Tab tablet that was becoming increasingly slower in order to browse the web , listen and cast music and perform basic notes and apps responses. I thought I would try Chrome OS
Pros
Set up straight forward using google accpunt ( recommend you obtain google account for this OS if you do not already have one)
Boots and starts up very quickly even from power off.
Basic google chrome programs very responsive.(Also has Android app compatibility on this platform although I hve not tried too many todate.)
Screen is quite good for the price and sharp although not the highest resolution available (but be aware of cost of other tablets etc) plus you can chromecast or use hdmi interface if inclined for hi res (though I havent tried yet)
WLAN is fast and smooth particualry in high band.
Bluetooth audio works great with old legacy BT headphiones though took about 30 secs to find initially.
Browsing is very fast , as is download (providing your broadband is fast !!)
I added external MMC card without any issues; quickly identiied BUT you must know where to look(in filemanager app and or via control rectangle bottom right of screen.)
Audio is quite good for small device (my view is different to some reviwers)
Battery life is excellent.
Touch pad works quite well (despite what some reviews have said about earlier models)
Keyboard is similarly response.good tactile response but not made for heavy typing as relatively small.
Touch screen functions fine BUT the apps and interface is NOT set up as an ANDROID MS WIN nor Apple Pad so do not expect simalar interface at all.
Microphone and camera worked straight away no issues.
CONS
Off line (internet) capability is very limited but still able to listen to music and do some basic editing (using google keep) Its really meant for internet access.
Text editing is extremely limited and difficult offline in chrome os mode and does not interface to other apps easily. I have not tried an android compatible app for this gap as of yet.(Text editing and document creation online is great either via google docs or MS XX office !!)
Recommendations
Buy the latest model withe 32GB and 4GB memory and NOT an earlier model or be aware of earlier review comments reviews and limitations.
Read setup and obtain google acount if you do not alreasy have one preferably before buying device for ease of set up.

Small laptop, fast, and runs like a champ. I had a bulky HP pavilion laptop that I was using. My cat spilt my beer on my laptop causing the keys to stick terribly. I finally caved and bought this on a whim. Mine was an opened floor model. It was easy to set up and it’s user friendly. The battery life is pretty good too. I’d give it a 5, but either it lags a bit or it’s my internet....it causes it to freeze up some.

We were shopping for a Surface (which I already have) when I suggested to my daughter to try this out. She loved it right away and was sure that it would be good enough for her school work.
That was a $500+ conversation because even the least expensive Surface costs a lot more than this class of machine. For her, i's an ideal, low-cost device. She's a high school freshman whose school district has standardized on Google Documents, so this fit might be better for us than it could potentially be for others. That being said, if you subscribe to Office 365 or can do other things cloud-based, this will definitely work. You do have to be online to use most of its functions, but because she uses it exclusively at our house, this isn't an issue.
It only takes about 5-minutes to set it up, it's easy to use, and doubles as a tablet because it's a touch screen. I'm sure this will be good enough for her for a few years, possibly even the next 4 because local processing power is not really important.

The Chromebook is actually really good. I love the weight of it. It has the bare minimum that I need. The battery last for a very long time as well, 11-10 hours per full charge. After a few weeks of having my device, my device requested that it updated itself, which of course I allowed it to. After that first major update my computer became extremely glitchy upon start up, wouldn't allow me to sign on, it wouldn't even give me a log on screen, the screen had larger pixals than normal. Once I am able to log on, it would get these weird black lines across the screen and would become glitchy. I took it back to the store and they weren't able to see what the problem was except for an bug that had nothing to do with the software, they happily switched my laptop out for a new one. I am giving this product a 4/5 because I not sure if the glitchiness is the laptop's fault and couldn't handle the update, or if there was a weird bug that was transferred upon updating. I could have used my credit to get a different brand but I absolutely adore this device and wanted to stick with the same one, the style is very simple but classy, and I like the touch screen feature and the other ways that it folds. I highly recommend and do hope that they figure out how to update chromebooks remotely without causing this to glitch out on the user.

Very light weight and easy to carry. Very user friendly. Not hard to set up at all. Really as long as you already have a gmail account you’re good to go. Hasn’t given any trouble with the work load I need it for. I’m able to work on papers and videos for a BA. Highly recommended for people on the move and even for kids in middle and high school. Best part is the tablet function which is amazing. Doesn’t freeze. Very clear. Battery life is excellent!

It is rare that I write reviews on products online, this is one of them.
This is a perfect choice for someone who is a light user of internet and need to complete some project work for school.
I wanted a laptop for school assignments and I also wanted a new tablet to browse internet. I got this 2in1 that serves as both. If I want to use it as a laptop and write essays, I can! Full keyboard & functions. If I want to use it as a tablet, I can! set it on the table, it will stand up, no need to hold it. Not too heavy to hold and carry around as well.
This is my first chromebook and I have to say the price ir right! Tablets will start at $500, laptops: spend as much as you want. but I am very happy with this. I definitely recommend this!
My only complaint is the lack of the delete button which I will just have to get used to since I am still trying to reach for it to delete text. A minor issue for me.

For the price, this Chromebook is high quality. It has very fast internet browsing, is extremely portable, and has a great battery life. On top of that, I'm really impressed with the keyboard and interface/touch screen. This is my first Chromebook, so it took some adjusting with the Chrome OS, but it is very functional for the price I paid.

This product has been great. My child is tough on things and it has already been dropped several times. Currently it has been personalized with stickers and is used all day in school. Google Classroom - without carrying the cord. She really likes the touch screen - very functional. It is also pretty lightweight to carry around all day.

I have had a gmail account for years and found that setting this notebook up was extremely easy. If you have used chrome on any pc, you already know how to use a Chromebook. No need to go through a major setup like in a pc. My son has had one for nearly a year and decided to get one just like it to use for writing descriptions and other texts for my website. It is smaller than my regular laptop to if you are not using it for a program or project you need a number keypad, then it is perfect. Fit better on an airplane tray table and being able to convert to a tablet makes it even better.
If you are worried about not being able to use word or excel, don’t be. They are available as apps directly from Windows.
I would certainly recommend it.

I bought this for my grandmother. I'm new to Chrome OS, but wanted something simple for her to use. A Chromebook seem to fit the bill. Also wanted something inexpensive that wouldn't bog down. Again, a Chromebook seemed to be the best idea as not a lot of "horsepower" is required to run it. This machine embodies these qualities precisely. It's cheap and has a bottom-line processor, but hums along just fine. It's actually very snappy, just as snappy as my 1500.00 windows laptop. The touchscreen is great, looks good and is responsive. The fit and finish of the device are great as well. Definitely recommended if you want something cheap that works and you're not tied to Windows or Mac.

Chromebook - I Think I'm a Convert Now

This is my first Chromebook, and I believe I'm now officially a fan of this OS. Booting up, hopping on the internet and leaving countless tabs open is lightning fast and smooth. I'm still learning my way around, in terms of storage (included cloud storage), device settings, keyboard functions and "tricks," but so far, I am really enjoying it. Plus, the Chromebook rep (Dustin) at my Best Buy store gave me his hours, so that I could stop by anytime for assistance! Since I have had this little puppy, I have hardly even touched my iPad. I love the convenience of being able to go from mouse (or track pad) to touch screen, depending on which app interacts better.
Perhaps, my favorite quality of the Chromebook platform is that this laptop never gets hot or noisy (there's no fan whirring inside). It's solid state, so it doesn't overheat.
I couldn't give it a full 5 stars, because the keyboard isn't backlit; something I miss when using it in bed at night. Then again, for the VERY affordable price this is, that's probably a feature that Acer's designers felt was cut-able in this price range. I also miss the delete key when making forward corrections during typing.
