Purchased this primarily for the size, features and aesthetic look. Was shocked by the battery life, it claimed 10 hours, but mine frequently gets nearer to 12 with conservative use. The touch screen which is Corning gorilla glass feels great and is very responsive. The included stylus acts as a pen, pointer, eraser and more. Touch pad seems more responsive than even some full-function laptops that I’ve tried. At least those on the cheaper end. The only negatives would be the stylus holder is a cheap, adhesive sleeve. Which, whatever it works but it’s not brilliant. And that you can’t open hand open it due to the light weight and stiffer swivel hinges for tablet mode but I’m hoping that the hinges will last. Definitely nothing annoying enough to stop the purchase or recommendation of. I often have several internet tabs open at once for work and it doesn’t ever seem to be slow.

Acer Spin 11 chromebook with pen function

I am not as happy with this purchase as I thought I would be. Being my first chromebook, it's a learning curve for me but I did get the hang of it after playing around with it. Display is good. Size is good too, although I have trouble seeing it sometimes seems not large enough. The wifi always gave me trouble which is why I deducted 1 star. It always had a medium or worse connection to my Spectrum wifi and nothing was wrong with my connection. Processor seems fast enough. The pen function is okay; it's not anywhere near as good as my Note8 with the s-pen, but it was one of the functions I chose this particular model for. It included a neat case, pen, and extra nibs for the pen along with full-sized charger. It charges really fast. Its light in weight without the cheap feel to it. My device doesn't seem to hold a charge even though I shut it down. When I go to use it I always have to charge it. Another reason for the 1 star deduction. Overall a good chromebook for the price I paid.

**Full disclosure: This was a birthday gift for my 9 year-old niece, I am not using this device day to day.** That said, this Chromebook has everything Lilly needs to pursue her dream occupation - becoming a crazy-rich YouTube blogger. :) Nice camera, touchscreen, uncomplicated, it even multitasks well. Lilly is thrilled, and for the time being, she thinks I walk on water, lol. Perfect (with a bag of buttered popcorn) for watching Netflix and Prime video. The performance for the price is much better than a comparably priced laptop, which would be bogged down attempting to multitask while running WindowsOS. Thanks and a shoutout to the Blueshirts at my BestBuy in Walker, MI, who for two days, took the time to answer our questions, patiently educating me on the above, as well as the pros/cons of darn near everything with a keyboard that was within my price range!

I purchased this product for my 10yr old daughter. This Duo laptop/tablet is perfect for her to use for School and Entertainment. I was able to put all her school apps each teacher required for at home learning on it with no problem. Each app works great with Zoom as well.I was concerned that I would not have enough space but I do,The camera takes great photos and videos as well have awesome clear clarity. My sister purchased the same product but it was an HP,she spent more UNNESSARY money than I did, after seeing my child's DUO now she regrets chasing the HP name brand. My ACER is Everything!!!

Unboxing Upon first opening the Acer Chromebook Spin 11, I was impressed by what was included in the box. Acer provides not only the Chromebook Spin 11 itself, but a nice stylish grey sleeve and a Wacom EMR pen (stylus). They also of course included a charger. Included Carrying Sleeve All of the accessories fit nicely into the provided carrying sleeve. The chromebook itself fits in the large center area while the charger and Wacom pen fit into the smaller front pouch. All are protected by a soft felt lining. Build Quality Overall this laptop has a rugged build and feel. It is made of mostly plastic, though a rubberized button makes it grippy and hold tight to the surface you sit it on. It also seems to help with scratches and also protecting wooden tables. The screen itself is made of Corning Gorilla Glass so it is capable of handling drops and is fairly scratch resistant. The keyboard is rather cheap feeling. The keys feel small and I often found myself disappointed with any lengthy typing session. I feel that Acer meant for this to be used by a child. Small form factor, rugged, and fairly bullet proof. For such a small laptop, this also feels fairly heavy at 3.09 lbs Display The display shows sharp and colors show accurate on this IPS 1366 x 768 screen. The 11” screen size paired with the very low resolution of 1366 x 768 make this less than ideal for anything other than light web browsing or basic note taking. Though ChromeOS allows you to force a higher resolution of 1536 x 864, since this is not native to the display, the image becomes much blurrier. The display is also a glossy mirror finish so using this in light or sunny areas results in terrible glare. In dark rooms this is a lot less noticeable. There is a thick black bezel around the display. This is terrible in laptop mode but becomes useful in tablet mode as it give your hands a place to hold and not interfere with the display. Tablet Mode Tablet mode is my least favorite mode. ChromeOS is weird to use and having the keyboard behind the display is awkward. I much prefer in laptop mode, or, tented for youtube, netflix, etc… video viewing. The stylus is a must use when in tablet mode as it helps press the close X or click on smaller icons fingers are just too big for. Battery Life Acer claims 10 hours of use. I’ve been able to get about 6-8 depending on usage. More than enough for a days work or taking notes in a classroom. Charging the laptop only takes limited time to get a useful burst of power though. In my case, about an hour fully charged from completely deal. Charging The Acer Chromebook Spin 11 battery was initially depleted so I had to charge it. This is done via one of the 2 included USB C ports on either side. This is nice since I can choose which side to charge from depending on my changing needs depending on where the laptop is at the time. Charging was quick. In about an hour it was fully charged. Powering on/boot up This thing boots up very fast. Hit the power button and you are presented with a logon screen within a couple seconds. Performance With a standard Intel processor and 4 GB of RAM ChromeOS runs fairly well. Windows open pretty snappy and general web browsing and app use is acceptable. If you’re planning to run some heavier Android apps or doing some photo editing, I found the performance to be lacking. I also found when connecting to an external display and pushing more pixels (connected to a 1920x1080 monitor) the machine struggled to even open apps and overall felt very sluggish. Connecting to External Display I connected to a pair of 1920 x 1080 monitors using USB-C to HDMI cables. I plugged one of each into each of the 2 USB-C ports and was able to view both screens. As mentioned above, performance was less than ideal. I also had a strange issue where Android apps only displayed a black screen and were unusable. This was not an issue when using the laptop by itself. Ports Acer provides a ton of connectivity ports on this machine. 2 USB 3.1, 2 USB-C, headphone jack, a security port for locking. This provides the ability to use any number of USB 3.1 or USB C adaptors to connect all sorts of things. Wacom Pen I found the pen to be a great tool for note taking and generally navigating ChromeOS. The stylus requires no batteries and when detected by touching the screen, ChromeOS shows a pen icon on the taskbar that allows you to quickly take screenshots, or notes. I found this super useful. Since the touch pad is a little clunky and cheap feeling, I prefer the pen over the touch pad. When taking notes, turning the pen over offers the ability to erase just like a pencil. When taking notes, the pen felt natural and the chromebook kept up with my writing speed and it felt as though I was actually writing on the screen itself. Webcam The camera quality is ok. This is more useful for quick Google hangouts, skype, or DUO calls. Don’t expect current mobile phone camera standard here. It was perfectly adequate for its purpose but slightly grainy and fuzzy videos should be expected Overall this is a decent device. I would suggest use cases be either for a younger child who is no ready for a more expensive computer, or, anyone looking for an inexpensive device to browse the web, and who is already in, or planning to be in, an all Google environment.

Never had a chromebook, don't know why I waited so long. Love that it turns on when lid is opened. Very snappy and responsive. Love the feel and design. A little on the weighty side, but does feel like a good build quality with durability. comes with a nice sleeve. I streamed movies and songs from my personal cloud library with no issues. Easily found my smart TV and streamed content to TV with no issues. Has nice features like 2 3.0 USB ports, USB C and micro SD slot.. Music and movies sounded good, But would prefer speakers to not be on the bottom. Screen Quality is good. The Wacom stylus was immediately recognized and worked well. This will be my Go To for travel so I can access my info without having to carry additional media around, instead will access on the cloud. This is definitely a multi-stream device which is Googles intention and I think it works quite well.

    Quality Chromebook with Great Features

The Acer Chromebook Spin 11 offers a great feature set for a Chromebook and really, for the price point in general. Upon unboxing, I found both a stylish storage sleeve and Wacom stylus are included - albeit the pen has a bit of a cheap feeling to it. The box also includes a pen loop to help keep the pen stored when not in use. The build quality of the Chromebook itself is solid and seemingly durable. Acer claims it is MIL-SPEC 810G compliant, making it an ideal device for students or the clumsy. This thing should definitely be able to stand up to a few bumps, drops, and even some extreme temperatures. The keyboard also claims to be able to stand up to 11 ounces of liquid directly on the keyboard without issue… I wasn’t brave enough to put it the test. The keyboard isn't too mushy, decent amount of travel and click. Easy to type on and not really any keyboard flex with normal use. I/O isn’t bad either. 2 USB C, 2 USB 3.0, a micro SD reader, and a headphone jack - it’s got most of what I need on a day-to-day. I can’t stress enough how impressed I am with how far Chrome OS has come. It feels snappy, responsive and plenty powerful for most web and native apps. Android apps seem mostly useful and smart lock to sign in is a dream. Not having to type in my absurdly complex google password every time to log in or unlock is incredible.

Personally, I have never been a big fan of Chromebooks as I prefer the full functionality of a Mac or PC-based laptop. As my daughter needed something for school, however, a Chromebook seemed to be the best choice. After a year with a different Chromebook, we "upgraded" to this one because she wanted a touchscreen. The addition of a stylus with this model was also a nice touch. In brief, this unit is stylish, compact, and works well as a Chromebook. Her previous Chromebook was plastic and it felt cheap. That is not the case with this unit. The build construction is great and, thus far, has proven to be very durable for a fifth-grader taking it back-and-forth to school. The ability to use it as a tablet given the touch screen functionality is nice, and my daughter really likes using they stylus with it. The stylus is not as nice as the Apple Pencil that she uses with her iPad, but then again, this stylus does not require charging and she can use it in conjunction with the keyboard in "laptop mode," which is something that cannot be said for a Mac. 32 GB is not a lot of storage space, but then again, one does not buy a Chromebook for computing power or storage space. The short story is that, if you are in the market for a Chromebook, this particular unit is pretty darn good considering the price you pay. We are very happy with this purchase.

This is a nice little machine and makes for a great device for distance learning. The Chromebook OS is simple and easy for my 7-year old to use, and the device itself has more than enough horsepower to smoothly run all the distance learning activities (which basically consists of visiting different websites and watching the occasional YouTube video). The touchscreen is nice as is the included stylus, which basically functions like any pen/pencil and does not need any additional power. My kid did manage to break the tip of the stylus off (which was not that cheap/convenient to replace), though I think it was more due to being an over-excited/curious 7-year old than anything to do with the build quality of the stylus itself. Generally, build quality for the chromebook seems OK, but it's definitely not indestructable. The device is pretty good value for the money. I wouldn't say it really wows in any area, but it has solid performance and build and doesn't do anything badly either. At some point, once my kid is older, we'll probably need to upgrade to a more traditional laptop. For now, this device is a great fit!

I needed a cheap laptop and this does the trick! Very fast, easy to use, and had a very quick set up. I love the convenience of the stylus and the option to flip it into a tablet. Seems very sturdy. I don’t do a lot of downloads or need a lot of storage, so for what I use a laptop for, this was perfect and the price couldn’t be beat!

I love this Chromebook. I was skeptical about buying the Chromebook (no access for memory, (all the reasons it it NOT a laptop) . However, in my workplace I was soon to in charge of teaching little ones about the Chromebook and how to use. So, I needed to put myself out there and learn some new skills. The BestBuy guy in charge of the Google area was excellent!! I informed him my need, I asked for the best quality in a particular price range. I got the best deal. In my opinion. Keyboard is small, but it has a touch screen. It rotates nicely to act like a tablet..I BIG tablet.. This is helpful in the classroom. Although I got a chromebook to use from the school district. I prefer mine, because of the versatility. I am quickly learning short cuts, because I am forcing myself to stay on this Chromebook as much as possible (rather than rescuing myself with the laptop). I like the clarity, and functionality of this Chromebook in its ability to effortlessly access everything from my phone or tablet. Its small and easy to carry. If I need to travel, I have a nice little tote it fits in with my table..and a mouse. (which I totally thought I would need ..but I have found that Im able to quickly move through apps, and google suite software (via work) and not need a mouse as much as I thought.
