A laptop with good quality/performance/price

The Good Stuff:
-Great gaming performance while gaming on larger games which run smooth and fast.
-It is very thin and light for a gaming laptop. Its easy to carry around while using it. Website says its 4.2 pounds, but I feel surprisingly light for a gaming laptop with an RTX3070.
-Lots of ports. It has 3 USB ports, one Thunderbolt 4 (type C) port, and an SD card reader slot. This is great since I like to plug in controller and charge my phone from my computer, so I will still have at least one port available without needing to get a USB hub.
-The battery lasts a long time. Although the battery is light but it lasts me over 8 hours while using it for school, which is great, so I don’t need to find a place to plug in during class.
-The bezel is tiny. My old laptop had a pretty thick boarder around the screen and its looks so sleek with barely any boarder.
-The keyboard is mechanical. Unlike most laptop keyboards that I have tried in store, this one feels great. Its probably my second favorite thing about this laptop, I can’t see myself going back to a membrane laptop keyboard after this one.
The Bad Parts:
-The webcam isn’t great but still ok. I wouldn’t use it to stream off of.
-Power and HDMI plugs into the back. I prefer them to be on my left, but its just my personal preference.
-Fans can get loud. Its probably normal, but fans can get loud when gaming.

I do video production and motion graphics for a living. Bang for the buck, I went with the Xenia for a creative laptop. I viewed a bunch of videos about this laptop and found it had high bench marks for Adobe Premiere Pro, it has hand selected ADATA RAM and was co-designed with Intel. Not to mention Thunderbolt 4. Also a 2560x1440 display, not the HD listed in Best Buy's specs. So far so good. I've used After Effects and Cinema 4D vigorously over the past few weeks and this machine performed great.

Less than 15 minutes after booting this up it crashed during a windows update and caused a registry error.
Had to return this for a refund.
The specs are great if you can catch this under $1500, but you might end up with a faulty unit.

I returned this after trying it for a few days, mainly because it ran warm, and locked up and rebooted itself.
My main use for a laptop is as a software developer, with some game playing.
Pros:
- Beautiful QHD screen. I currently have a 4K laptop and was concerned that a QHD screen would not work for me. I like to have really clear text. This screen did not disappoint. The higher refresh rate and brightness were great.
- Build quality is very good. Clean lines, well made.
- Weight is great, very light for 15.6"
- Ran game well: Star Wars fallen order ran with all Epic settings on 4K monitor and maxed out to 60FPS (I set option to not go above 60FPS). Temps were around 70 to 80c. I use a cooling pad.
Cons:
- Always ran warm, even when nothing was running. CPU temp 52c. Bottom of laptop was warm, almost to the point of being uncomfortable while on lap.
- Bricked once when nothing running. Screen went blank, but everything was still running. Had to reboot by holding down power button.
- Rebooted itself while I had multiple apps open. Just restarted.
- I use "Hide taskbar in desktop mode", but no matter what, the taskbar would NOT pop up when putting mouse pointer at bottom of screen while on an app. Only time it worked was when viewing desktop.

Hello paldubee777,
Thank you for your honest review and in-depth description of the pros and cons for our XPG Xenia laptop. We are sorry to hear that you had to return your item but we thank you for your interest and support.
The XENIA 15 KC draws fresh air from inlets located at the bottom of the unit, and expels hot air at the sides and rear, just like the vast majority of Portable PCs. To ensure efficient heat dissipation, we suggest avoiding placing the XENIA 15 KC on a soft surface and to provide ample space for airflow so your XENIA 15 KC can ventilate properly. Failure to do so will cause fans to spin longer and louder, and may cause performance degradation or even system shutdown for overheat protection in extreme cases.
Thanks, ADATA Team

Good when on sale for $1470. Only problem I had is that support for this laptop stopped at windows 10 from last year. I didn't see any new drivers for 2022 or an windows 11 update. You can update it yourself, but XPG or Intel hasn't released anything official.
Also, battery life wasn't that great. Not sure if I got a dud but I couldn't get more than 2 - 2.5 hours on low settings.

Hello Compman,
Thank you for your review, however, I would like to clarify some things for your benefit. Your product comes preinstalled with windows 10 and you will always have access to upgrade to windows 11. Please update your windows from your settings menu. You will be connected to the Windows update server, you will be prompted to update to Windows 11. It is always healthy practice to update your computer consistently to ensure you have the best protection and potential bug fixes directly from Microsoft. Also, you may always choose to update your drivers directly from your computer or if need be you can find them on our XPG website. I have pasted a link for your convenience: https://www.xpg.com/us/xpg/pc-system-XENIA15-GAMING-NOTEBOOK?tab=downloads The battery life on the Xenia 15 depends entirely on the use of the product, if you are running resource heavy applications such as autocad, video editing, or pursuing extensive gaming sessions then your experience my vary . However, you may always adjust your battery life settings on your laptop. Quick Tip: Choosing to set your laptop to hibernate instead of sleep mode will help you save you alot of battery life! Thank you!
Sincerely,
The ADATA/XPG team
