Good ergonomics, but maybe not for everyone

While I do not suffer from RSI or carpal tunnel syndrome, the shape of this mouse effectively relieved the shoulder & neck pain I was experiencing from long-term computer use. Combined with good posture, the vertical orientation can prevent the shoulder from rolling forward and inward. It also feels like a more natural wrist position. The relationship between the mouse pointer on screen and where I'd expect it to be based on my hand & finger position took a couple weeks to get used to, as did the difference in clicking. Unlike a normal mouse where you press your finger down toward the desktop, with this mouse, it's more of a pinching movement toward your thumb. For the first month or so of use, this caused enough wiggle to interfere with double-clicks registering properly, but I've learned to adapt. I think for me, a mouse that's at less of an extreme angle would be better without compromising the superior posture. Functionally, it's pretty basic, with standard left & right buttons, 2 thumb buttons (forward & back website navigation), and a clickable scroll wheel. The DPI switch is responsive, but I'm not a fan of either of the 2 settings it uses, and they can't be changed. I'm also not a fan of the aesthetics or feel of the glossy black finish, but the blue LED swoop on the side, while unnecessary, is a nice touch. The cable is a little bit too stiff, and coupled with the tall height and light weight, this mouse is quite easy to knock around unintentionally. I would suggest trying this if you are looking for a more ergonomic solution for general home or office use, but be aware there may be a learning curve due to the nature of this shape. I would not recommend it for gaming or other tasks requiring higher precision & speed. Aside from the vertical orientation, this is a fairly basic mouse that is showing signs of wear (squeaky wheel) after only a month and a half of use, but for its price, it's not hard to overlook some minor faults.

    Great Inexpensive Vertical Mouse

I can’t use any form of wireless mice at work (DoD). I also am not allowed to load any drivers. Any peripherals I purchase have to be “plug and play” with Windows 7/10. We use either HP or Dell stock mice and keyboards w/ built in CaC readers. I am comparing this mouse Adesso Vertical USB mouse to the medium Evoluent VM4 Vertical USB mouse. Adesso: Pros: All the features seem to work on this mouse without any additional drivers. Two buttons on the right and scroll wheel work just like stock mice. I cannot program change the function of the third button which is too low and my ring finger already has nerve damage (right click) without installing drivers. Cons: So far only see one size and it’s a smaller size. I have a large hands so I wish it came in a medium or was a little bigger. The bottom of my hand/palm is already sore from years of using government issue stock mice. The bottom of my hand rubs the desk while I use this mouse. So for the price and compatibility with true “plug and play” abilities .... it is a great deal. Also everyone thinks it looks cool the subtle accent blue light on the left side is the shape of horizontal arch .... get a lot of comments “cool mouse”, “looks like something from the StarTrek”, etc.!

I like the mouse because it definitely gives the hand a break from the usual position. The only thing I take a little issue with is that sometimes I feel like I need to lift it to get it to track better. They should consider making one for lefties.

I bought this after reading other reviews. I recently had surgery for carpel tunnel and trigger finger. I decided to get this one after reading positive reviews. I work for the State so it being plug & use without downloading anything further was key. waiting for IT all day is the worst. As most everyone else has said, it takes a little bit of time to get used to the able and using it. I really like it. It does save on excessive movement and my hand/wrist feel much more comfortable. I love the scrolling function. I have not yet used the page forward/back buttons.

I've never used a vertical mouse before, this one was priced low enough to try it. The mouse has stood up well to a few months of heavy use. The glossy finish seems to attract dirt but is nice overall. Going vertical did take a few weeks to get used to, my wrist actually hurt after using normal mice for so long. Now that I am accustomed to vertical, I like it and would buy this mouse or another vertical mouse again.

I really like this mouse! Easy to get used to the shape but it’s so different than anything most people are used to. It has made an amazing difference in my carpal tunnel. This mouse has several different buttons to set for different functions as well.

Not as good as some of the higher end programmable ergonomic mice, but definitely a good choice on a budget.

So far so good !! I never knew vertical mouse was a thing and I am happy to have come across it. It didn't take long at all to adjust to it. I do not have a medical or ergonomic need for this type of mouse, it caught my eye and so I wanted to give it a try. I totally recommend!! I am not a gamer, so I can't speak on how well it fairs for gaming.

The finish is very smooth and slippery. The right mouse button is very small for where your hand rests on the mouse. Otherwise, it performs as a mouse should.

I've grown to prefer ergonomic style "mice", and this is my 2nd replacing an older Anker model. I hadn't heard of Adessio before, but this mouse outperforms it in every way. Tracking is spot on where the Anker has a slight lag, and the scroll wheel performs flawlessly. I couldn't ask for more.

Great for my desk. It feels better than my traditional mouse and a great price. No issues. I'd prefer this over the more expensive Logitech.

I'm pleased with this mouse. Only wish it were a tad smaller. I have an average size woman's hand but my fingers aren"t long, so gripping the mouse would be easier for me if it were smaller.

Totally worth buying this. I have two, one for home and one for work. My hand felt horrible and this fixed it. I found on the internet people saying that the smooth surface feels better than the textured surface, I think this is correct. My textured surface one always feels sticky even though it is clean.

I have had an interest in ergonomics since bilateral carpal-tunnel releases years ago so when I saw this I knew I had to try it. It, indeed, takes the strain off the wristand forearm, putting the hand in a neutral position so there is less pain and aggravation. It is my go-to mouse for everything except gaming where I use a mouse with more buttons for key-lock commands. If they added those to the thumb side, it would be the perfect mouse.

Due to arthritis, it was recommended that I use an ergonomic mouse. I read other reviews and this mouse seemed to work for other people. So far it seems to be better than the regular mouse I was using. It was also a cost effective way to see if an ergonomic mouse works for you.

Love the shape of this mouse. Setup was flawless. Everything works very well except the primary key (the one under your index finger) is way too temperamental. Sometimes it works fine, but better than 50% of the time you have to click many times to get it to work. The "feel" is there - it feels and sounds like it's clicking, but nothing happens. It can be very, very frustrating because you keep having to click to get it to work. Like I said, VERY frustrating.

I was starting to have problems with carpal tunnel syndrome since I work at a computer all day. I was upgrading my keyboard and decided to look for a better mouse while I was at it. I saw this and the design made sense. It gives a nice, neutral position that results in no fatigue after a full day. It is a little more sensitive to movement, but I'm getting used to it quickly. Especially for the price, you can't go wrong with this device.
