    Bugs and Battery Charging Disappoint

Adidas is trying to make a name for themselves in the world of athletic, wireless earbuds. From my experience, there are some features to like, but there’s still work that needs to be done. The Good ------------- Wonderful comfort and fit: These wireless earbuds feel great in the ears and even for lengthy periods of time. I was able enjoy them while doing multiple activities from casually walking to playing basketball. I rarely had to perform any position readjustments. I’ve become more physically active within recent moments so using earbuds with minimal risk of falling out is ultra-important. As a bonus, this product contains multiple ear tips and wing pieces that allows the user to customize their fit. Fortunately, I was able to get by with the default tips that were used. Nice sound and strong bass: The FWD02 may be small, but definitely packs a punch when listening to bass-heavy music. Quite frankly, it’s the best bass I’ve ever heard from wireless earbuds. The sound is clear and can be enjoyed by all. Decent mic: I’ve called my wife from the earbuds, and was informed that the call quality was a pleasant experience. Although this product is intended for athletic purposes, it’s nice to know that I can take a call without sounding muffled. Other things: The water resistance worked as expected and the touch controls were responsive. The Bad ------------- Extremely buggy: Connecting these headphones is not a seamless experience. When I put them in, the earbuds play a sound to register that they are connected. Unfortunately, the sound is often replayed to indicate that they have been disconnected and reconnected. Also, there are times when it won’t connect the app properly. Inconsistent connection: There have been plenty of times where my earbuds suddenly stop playing music. From the app and my phone’s Bluetooth settings, they are still showing as connected despite the abrupt stop. This happened everyday and is such an inconvenience. The problem persisted even after updating the firmware. Poor Battery Charging: Battery life is okay, but the charging experience has been a nightmare. Since I’ve owned these earphones, there’s never been an instance where both buds have achieved 100% battery life. As soon as I take them out of the case, they’re normally about 93-94% charged. There have been two occurrences where I achieved 100% battery life, but that was only for one earbud. I thought something was obstructing the charging contacts but the case was clean. Also, one bud’s battery percentage is usually significantly higher than the other. For instance, my left bud may be at 93% and the other may be at 82%. What makes this horrible is that both buds have been sitting within the case that’s been connected to a charger. No volume controls: Volume control is one of the most basic functions for an earbud. I’m surprised that this was not included. The more I can control with my earbuds without my phone the better. No wireless charging: The price tag of this product should have caused for wireless charging to be included. Instead, customers are only provided an extremely short USB C cable. I own a USB hub so finding a convenient spot for charging these earphones isn’t as big of an issue. However, you must purchase a longer USB Type C cable if you don’t already own one. I would love for the ability to just sit the case down a charging pad without being tethered to a power adapter in the wall. Flimsy Mesh: I thought the mesh idea for the lid would be really awesome, but the fabric is very thin. It could easily snag onto something sharp in a gym bag such as keys if you’re not careful. The removable top is nice, but it’s almost like you need a cover for your lid. These headphones are an admirable attempt to compete against other wireless earbuds, but fall short for me. They have the comfort, fit, and bass desired, but are too problematic. Although future firmware updates could possibly address the big issues, I cannot recommend this product at its current state. The charging case has been unreliable, and I experience far too many unexpected pauses to be able to thoroughly enjoy this product. When it works, it’s great. When it doesn’t, it’s a headache.

Gets Loud & Good sound but a few issues

In general, these ear buds are perfect for the people with active lifestyles (joggers, bikers & workout heads) since they have a modern ergonomic design that make it easy to place in your ears that stay in your ears during intensive exercise. The Adidas FWD-02 SPORT are sweat-proof & water-resistant with an Awareness mode that lets you hear your outside surroundings while music is on by holding down on the ear bud touch control or enable via app. As a bike rider this is crucial regarding safety. There are however some better choices in this category. The Bad: No -/+ volume control on device itself. Could get full 100% charge on both ear buds. (May be an issue with app not reporting batt percentage correctly) Touch controls options to skip track/play last track sometimes just does not work under certain conditions. Below average call quality with phone calls. Setup was good but instructions should state that Bluetooth button is on the case & not on the device which you would quickly figure out anyways since there are no physical buttons on earbuds. Once ear buds were out of the case & Bluetooth button depressed, my Pixel automatically paired them with a prompt to download the Adidas App. The App seems finicky when connecting with ear buds at times & reporting information. (this is after updating App to latest the version) I suspect battery life readings not being correct majority of the time. I actually prefer wingtip-style ear buds as they tend to stay in my ear better. Wingtips are removable, with 4 extra tips. They are comfortably in your ears for long durations. I get sweaty during workouts so having an IPX% water resistance is ideal. Buds feel light in the ears with a nice grippy finish on the outer surface and they look stylish. As far as sound the 6mm drivers can produce powerful audio performance that out a strong bass, loud, and unmistakable sound The sound is nice and vibrate, but mid-range do suffer a bit at high volume speaking of wish, these things get plenty loud. Equalizer settings have preset profiles that you can customize also it has rock, pop, hip hop, electronic and vocal boost presets. Equalizer is fully adjustable to your taste in music & in my case A$ap Rocky, Red Hot Chili Peppers & Bruno Mars all sounded good while riding my bike or working out. Battery Life closer to 4 hours than the advertised 6 but with a fully charged case, you will get an additional 19 hours. A few fixes with App & touch controls would make this a 5 star product.

Good bass, Secure Fit but some quirks

Strong bass, Secure Fit but some quirks I have been using the Adidas FWD-02 Headphones for about a week now and I am really undecided. Fit, comfort, and design wise these are good earbuds. The default sports and earbud rubber attachments fit me perfectly, but Adidas does include 4x earbuds/tips & 5x different sized sports loop/earwings - so you should get the perfect fit. Also included in the box is a short USB A to USB C cable (the Adidas FWD02 charge by USB C). The fit is GREAT and I couldn't shake these loose, even in a game of pick-up volleyball as a test. The case design is nice, it's relatively long and flat and a mixture of hard (possibly recycled plastics) with an Adidas sneaker-like material covering the earbuds. The case looks sporting but has an odd design choice that the hinge is magnetic so (see photo) when I first used them I thought I had broken the case. As the cover detaches. I guess Adidas made the decision because these are "sport" and this makes the case a little more hard robust and makes the case hinge less prone to breakage. But then the sneaker-like material means the earbuds and case internals are not protected from moisture. The earbuds are rated IPX5 but thew case is IPX4, so treat the case with a little more care than the earbuds. But headphones are all about audio, I'm using an iPhone with Apple Music, so my tests are based on that. Pairing was easy, you hold the button on the case until the lights turn blue to pair. This is EASY and much more straight forward than other headphones. Adidas do make a free app (iOS and Android) to customize the earbuds. There's no prompt to install it like some other headphones after pairing (thank goodness) but do make sure you find and download it - as there were firmware updates for me. The app also lets you customize the touch controls on the side and the equalizer settings. The buttons let you change you turn on/off noise control, launch voice assistant, deep integrate with Spotify, or do nothing. If you integrate with Spotify you get access to custom Adidas playlists, but as an Apple Music users, I can't use the buttons to launch Apple Music. Oh well. BTW, Adidas, FYI if you read this there's "Lorem Ipsum" placeholder text in the Spotify section of your app. Audio quality. Music: The Adidas FWD02 have great bass, really solid. They are not ANC but the noise isolation (earwings help with this) is excellent, you would almost think they are noise cancelling. The different equalizer settings changes were minimal not dramatic. I did run into some odd issues though, which is occasionally on first pairing the music would come across flat and I would need to reset the equalizer setting to get good sound. Feels like a software bug so could be fixed with a firmware update. The other more frustrating thing is that sometimes the earbuds would play in the case, this is in-the-case, case-closed, and technically they should be in standby mode. I worry about these randomly playing in my pocket when not in use and wearing down the battery. Voice: I made a few calls. There was no complaints from the call recipient, they could hear me clearly. The voice call quality though was a little washed out compared to music. The treble was higher and the overall sound profile felt much more subdued vs music. The only way I can describe it is it felt like a call that I had to 'listen' to actually hear the other person vs other earbuds where it's clear as if they were with you in the room. Adidas could fix this with a firmware update. Also, weird bug was when I answered a call on my phone with the earbuds in, the audio was not on my earbuds but on the phone so had to do that panicked "just a second, my earbuds didn't pair, hang on, hang on" talk. Overall: As well fitting sports headphones, the Adidas FWD02 are good with excellent fit. Audio quality is good. But I can't shake my reservations about audio call quality, the fact music in the earbuds sometimes sounds flat on first pairing, that they have played music in the case, calls didn't transfer to the earbuds when I answered a call, and that they lack ANC makes me think you could get better value elsewhere. I would say though, if you want a pair of gym-only or running-0only headphones for music-only that stay anchored in your ears, the Adidas would be a reasonable pick. But I would pick up another pair of headphones for everyday non-gym use. FYI. Great Sport Earbuds

I have been using these Adidas Sport wireless headphones for over a week and since I workout and run almost everyday, they have been perfect for me. Out of the box, they are very easy to pair to your device. Just press the Bluetooth button on the case and pair it to your device and you are set. Once yo are paired, I would highly recommend you download the Adidas headphones app to activate more features and configure the touch controls. Speaking of the touch controls, they are very intuitive and easy to use on the headphones. On the app you can adjust and customize the equalizer, custom actions, noise control, interaction sounds and you will receive any firmware updates. The app will also tell you how much charge you have in each ear piece. Getting them fully charged only took about 1 1/2 hours. Once you figure out which ear-tips will work best with your ears, you will barely notice that they are in. They give you plenty of ear-tips so you can find the best fit. Once you find the correct fight, they will not move from your ears. As I stated earlier, I run almost every day and every time I took them on my runs, I never had any issues with them falling out. Another feature that I love about these Adidas earbuds is that they are sweat-proof. I have had plenty of previous earbuds stop working because of too much exposure to sweat. The sound on these headphones is pretty sweet as well. The app allows you to customize your sound, which depending on the music you are listening to, can change. Overall, I am very happy with these Adidas Sport wireless headphones.

High End Earbud Sound In Mid Priced Earbuds

Earbuds are my thing. I have a dude them all from the $29 dollar pair I have up to the $400 dollar pair I have. Each air has a usual use for me depending on the where and how I am using them. These from Adidas/Zound Zound , a Swedish company that makes high end audio headphones, Marshall , will be my go to pair when I need to block outside noises and to stay in place and not be damaged by my sweat. They are listed as waterproof and the wings that are a selection included in the box really keep them in place when I am active and sweaty. They are a mid priced product with top end sound. The app has an equalizer to customize the sound and noise control to suit you. Tap functions of the earbuds are fully customizable left and right for your own personal preferences as well. They paired with my iPhone really easy and they auto select as the output source when paired and connected. The case was a little strange to me but the lid is a vented type material like cloth to allow them to dry out when damp from sweat or a splash of water by the pool. The hinged case lid is attached to the case magnetically which I still dont see why. My one and only feature I wish was on these is wireless charging.

    Impressive

Setup was instantaneous. They paired right away without issue which surprisingly isn't as often as you'd think for devices today for some reason. It even conveniently directs you right to the app to download. After the initial pairing they connect quickly after being removed from the case. It was just as easy pairing to another device if needed which I discovered when I let my wife try them out. THE GOOD They are extremely comfortable and are definitely the best in that regard of all the buds I've used previously. They remain comfortable even after long periods of time and I'm confident they will stay secure no matter what I'm doing. The large selection of ear pieces will make sure of this no matter who you are. While I'm not a huge sound guy, I really think the sound is great. It feels full with just the perfect amount of bass to my liking. I haven't tried any calls yet other than with my wife but it sounded very clear to us. The app further offers customization like an equalizer (I'm always a fan of that feature) and other options to change how you use it. It's quite user friendly, too. What's also nice is I don't see any reason you have to use the app if you don't want to, either. More products need to do this where the app is more of a companion and not a requirement. On top of all this, between the buds and the case it has a really nice, long battery life. The Awareness mode is impressive. While it's not labeled as a noise canceling device per-say, it really blocks out sound well. Depending on what you're listening to and your volume (and your settings), it really cancels out nearly everything. I was outside testing them out watching a youtube video and all I could hear was the very faint sound of someone mowing a lawn. All the birds, planes and whatever noise my wife was making in the yard was lost to me. With music, I would have heard nothing. I let me wife try them out for a bit and she was listening to music with the Awareness mode off. I went to talk to her later in the day. I approached her from behind, only a few feet away, while she was doing something else and said her name multiple times but she couldn't hear me. I literally started shouting her name and still nothing. It wasn't until she turned around and saw me that she realized I was trying to speak to her. How much sound is let in with this mode can be changed within the app which really furthers its versatility. You can change the custom button on each bud but I like having the default activate/deactivate Awareness mode as mine. THE NOT AS GOOD There are only a couple of things I find an issue with. The first is there is no volume controls on the buds themselves. You must change volume from the phone which is pretty inconvenient. The second is that i'm not completely sold on the case, yet. It's really nice, it's indeed pretty compact and lightweight, but there are a couple of things that give me concern. While I understand the fabric cover's purpose is breathability in order to air it out from sweat/moisture, it's kind of a double edge sword. Underneath the fabric, the hard plastic is only surrounding the buds leaving them to protrude out through the fabric thus decreasing their protection. With the help of the magnets, it seems to hold the buds in place but they have some wiggle room with the ear pieces I'm using. I do wonder if they will become easily displaced with constant movement in a pocket or bag ceasing charging. The charging points seem a bit precarious and sometimes it takes some wiggling of the buds for the lights to turn on in the case and be detected. I notice closing and opening the case lid works, too. The lack of hard plastic in the cover is probably a contributing factor. The only reason I question if things are working properly is because one of the buds appeared to not charge one time and the app always shows one side lower than the other so now I feel like I have to take more care than I should when putting them away. Also, not too big of a deal but still worth noting is sometimes I found the touch controls unresponsive. Overall, the buds themselves are a solid product. I don't feel like the inconveniences hinder the product in a significant enough way for me to reduce an entire star. PROS - Great sound quality - Great battery life - Serious noise control offers versatility - Plethora of different attachments to choose from CONS - No volume controls on buds themselves - Case protection is concerning, magnets holding the buds are finicky

    Nice midrange headphones

I recieved these headphones to test a little while back and I must say I am quite impressed. They are addidas branded, but are are from zound industries, who also make Marshall branded sound equipment, so there is some carecto making these sound good. That being said, these are focused for being active, and staying in place. Of all the headphones that are in ear and noise canceling (Samsung, Bowers Wilkins, yamaha) these stay put very well. The others feel like they want to fall out all the time (and in case of samsungs, they often do) if I do more than just walk. These sit into my ear and secure well into the helix of my ear. The only other set I feel comfortable enough to run or even mow lawn with are a set of jvc's that have a hooked that goes behind my ear. These have the function of answering calls, which sound good and crisp, voice assistant, should I choose to, or noise canceling on or off on long push, also had pause/play, skip back, skip forward, but a major flaw for me is they don't turn volume up or down. If I'm active, I don't want to have to fumble for my phone from my pocket holster to get to the volume controls. This was a flaw I pointed out on Bowers WiLkins I have, but all my others have volume. That drops my score by a full star, but otherwise, the sound is great. There are several preset equalizers, or my favorite is custom, which has 5 frequency ranges you can tune. My phone (android based galaxy note 20 ultra) auto-recognized the adiddas headphones, and downloaded the app for me right away, and paird without issue. You can link up an addidas jogging app that is a tracker, spotify. The touch control for skip forward and back takes some practice to get down, and is a bit uncomfortable to me because it pushes the bud into my canal more. It's a firmer type touch it needs vs samsung's almost barely bump it touch sensitivity, but it's not a big detractor for me. Overall sound is great on rock to pop to classical, Tom Petty Wildflowers pops like I want it too. Overall, the price point on these and and the sound function, fit quality of these are what I expect and competative. I would reccomend these to friends and family. 4 of 5 stars only because no volume control.

    Fantastic Sport Earbuds

My main sports is running. I have gone through a numerous amount of headphones/earbuds dedicated to this sport and these earbuds are one of my favorites. They are extremely light. It honestly feels as light as a feather in my hand. At one point during my run, I thought the earbud had fallen out because I didn't feel it but it was still firmly in place. They fit very snugly in my ear canal. They never fell out of my ear even after sweating profusely. These earbuds stayed in place for countless runs without ever having to adjust them. They sound great. You can customize your own eq settings with the app but the default sound is good enough for music of all types and podcasts for that matter. I also enjoyed watching videos. They get very loud as well. The ambient nose feature is where they are not so great. I couldn't really tell the difference between the feature on and off which is a real bummer because it's a safety issue when running outdoors. I even updated the firmware but it still didn't fix the problem. Perhaps this is something that can change in another update. Physical touch controls are not too sensitive which I like. I like having to put a little more pressure on the earbuds when using touch controls especially if I have to double or triple tap to ensure I'm not accidentally activating something I didn't want to activate. The case is very very slim. It's a very travel friendly case with the added bonus of having the lid magnetic so there is not risk of breaking it off. Charging with the case is on par with other true wireless earbuds. They are very comfortable if you're working out with them. When you're just sitting still and watching a video, I did notice fatigue in my left ear and it was causing a bit of pain. They are sweat proof as advertised. I sweat profusely during my runs and these earbuds never had a problem with sweat. Hopefully that holds up over time! Overall, these are great for long runs, shorts run, workouts of any type, and sports of any type. Just be a little cautious if running outdoors since ambient mode was not too great.

Overall the Adidas Sport earbuds are acceptable, definitely not the best, but work well. I had some fit and comfort issues and can’t quite get the right fit for my ears. When I could get them to sit in my ears properly and get the EQ through the app to be where my preference was, they sounded pretty good. The biggest issue for me was I could not get them to seat properly in my ears to make them consistently sound good, when working out they kept shifting and were not comfortable to keep adjusting them back into place. I honestly do not fault the design as they are made similarly to other wireless earbuds I have owned, pretty sure it’s just the way my ears are sensitive to these types of wireless earbuds. My husband had not issues with the fit and said they sounded fantastic to him, so as most of these earbuds go it’s personal preference for sure. The Adidas app for the earbuds works well to adjust the sound levels to your personal sound preference which is nice. I would like to see the ability to adjust the audio volume via touching the side of the earbuds, but can not figure out how to do that, as there are not a lot of easy to find instructions for the product. Overall, it comes down to personal comfort and preference with earbuds. I was not a huge fan, but my husband loves them.

I have a lot of true wireless earbuds which run the gamut from cheap to audiophile. One thing I don't have are sweatproof ones that fit well for fitness stuff. I've recently started on working on getting into shape and am walking (and sweating) a lot and got tired of the loose-feeling fit of the ones I have, so I wanted to try these out. I was surprised to find out that adidas earbuds are made by the same company that makes the Marshall Bluetooth speakers, so I was cautiously optimistic about sound quality. I'll cut to the chase: they're much better than I had anticipated! Overall they have a warm, neutral sound. Bass is good but not boomy, and highs are a little on the mellow side, which I prefer. I have trouble with earphones that have a lot of sibilance (think painful sounding cymbals) and these are perfect in that regard. The included app has several preset EQ settings (Interesting the signature "adidas" setting is just flat) and allows you to set your own. Setup was ridiculously easy on my Samsung Z Fold 3. I opened the case and I got a pop-up on the phone that the earbuds had been detected, which included a link to download the app. Once I did that they paired automatically (I never went into the Bluetooth settings) and I was up and running. There was a firmware upgrade out of the box, so I applied that immediately and went about playing. The fit was good out of the box, but there are a bunch of different size tips and extensions in case yours don't fit immediately. As with all earbuds, getting a good seal is essential to to good sound, especially in the bass department. Once they're in they feel extremely secure and are the most comfortable 'buds I own. You can hardly feel them. I know they're for fitness buffs, but they feel like they would be comfortable to sleep on, too. Each side has touch control and can be set independently to start up Spotify, your voice assistant or the adidas running app if you long-press. One short press pauses, two skips back, three skip forward. They can also be set to "awareness" mode which pipes in surrounding noise. If you're walking or running in a hazardous area this will help you hear your surroundings. These do not have active noise cancellation but seal well enough to keep out a lot of noise and would probably work on public transit or an office just fine. The case is sleek but a little weird. The top has a stretchy fabric that clamps down on the 'buds when they're in the case. I can see this wearing out at some point. I think adidas also thinks that as the lid is easily replicable. The hinge is a magnet. If you flip the top more than 90 degrees it pops off magnetically, which is a little annoying. Otherwise the case is thin and should fit in a pocket easily. It also has a cool black on black birds-nest kind of pattern. I would recommend these as a daily driver, not just for fitness!

    Most Secure Fitting Earbuds

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The secure fit was the main draw to me for these earbuds, and they do not disappoint. The FWD-02 Sport have been the most secure fitting earbuds I've ever tried. Adidas knows their stuff when it comes to active gear. Of course, if the sound was garbage, then a secure fit wouldn't really matter. I am happy to report the sound is actually very good. Of course, it's not quite premium quality, but even cheap earbuds these days seem to do much better than you would think. These are not cheap earbuds, and they do very well. I am quite pleased with how they sound. Within the app, you can pick a variety of preset sound styles or create a more customized equalizer setting. I choose the custom settings and was able to tune the sound to my liking pretty easily. These buds do an especially nice job of handling base, even at volume. The mids are good. The highs are also good, and thankfully, they never break down. Speaking of the app, it is a nice touch that when you first pair the buds, you are prompted to download the app. Made it simple and easy to know which app to look for, since it provided a link directly to it. I haven't seen that before when pairing earbuds, but it was a nice touch. Part of the reason the fit is so secure is the silicone fins. The FWD-02 Sports come with a variety of fins you can use to fit the buds into your ear. Of course, they also include mutiple tips to fit in your ear canal. I've used a lot of wireless earbuds, and the fit on these is second to none. In terms of performance, you BT 5.2 and support for AAC, AptX, and SBC codecs. You do NOT get ANC, but you do get a very strong pass-through sound setting. The sound around you is not as tinny or electronic as it is with many buds. Since I use these dominantly when walking my dog on trails, I really like these settings and don't miss the ANC. Call performance is good but not as strong as the musical side. Calls sound slightly muted. On the bright side, they are not digitized or tinny, but a little more oomph in both directions would be appreciated. As with many earbuds, the touch controls seem a little finicky. Honestly, I pretty much ignore touch controls on earbuds, so this doesn't bother me, either. The case is interesting. It's a little more awkward fitting the buds in the case to charge, despite the magnets. They just don't snap in as well as a lot of others do. And the case has a soft top design to fit snugly over the buds. The buds themselves are rated IPX5 for water resistance. I think the case is rated IPX4, which surprised me b/c of the soft top. All in all, I really like these earbuds.

I've lost count of how many headphones and earbuds I've reviewed over the years, but in my last review I remember making the claim that it's hard to get a bad pair of headphones right now, especially if you're spending $90 or more. The Adidas FWD-02 Sport headphones are a testimony to that claim. The thing that drew me to these in the first place is the ear fins--for me, the best fitting, most comfortable and most likely to stay in my ears headphones have always had ear fins. And here, the FWD-02 don't disappoint. They come with multiple size fins and tips and make a great seal in my ear canal for really good sound isolation. They don't have noise canceling, but they do sport a 'pass through' mode which allows outside noise in. As far as I'm concerned, this is a must-have feature on any set of headphones at this price range, and the Adidas buds deliver a reasonably good experience in that regard. In many ways, though, these are not "fancy" earbuds--they're really intended to be used while working out, and during my testing they performed admirably in those scenarios. They are sweat and water resistant, and have onboard touch controls that are very basic and easy to use. I don't often find myself needing to interact with my headphones during a workout, and in this case that's good--because those touch controls weren't the most reliable. On several occasions a tap or long press wouldn't even register. I did enjoy being able to put them in and take them out without accidental presses. Pairing is super simple and handled via the case, not the buds--while still in the case, press and hold the button and then pair to your desired device. They don't pair to multiple devices, but that's ok for their intended use--I'm fine re-pairing them when I want to change devices. The battery life is good--the case tops off the buds after a workout, and I haven't had to charge them since the first full charge when they arrived earlier in the week. The sound quality is admirable. They are by no means the best-sounding earbuds you can get at this price range, but they get plenty loud for powering through a workout and do so without much distortion. Given that these are targeted toward the fitness market (and not the audiophile types), Adidas delivers an excellent listening experience if you use these for more than just 'noise production' during a workout. The case is...weird (even beyond my first impression; if you're like me you know EXACTLY what I mean). I'm a fan of Adidas' shoes, so I understand the incorporation of mesh in their design. But that mesh doesn't offer much by way of protection if, for instance, you throw these in a backpack or gym bag with other items. The lid of the case is held in place by magnets and can be removed entirely with a light pull. I don't understand the purpose of this functionality. Nevertheless, I think these buds do a lot of things right and for that reason are worth consideration. My only concern is the price--at $169, they seem a bit overpriced. If you can find them on sale, they might be worth a purchase, but at full retail price, a fitness-focused set of earbuds shouldn't cost this much.

For starters, these buds seem well-built and use a nice mix of materials. They are a nice weight, and given they seem targeted to the workout crowd/use case, are sweat/water resistant. I typically have some trouble getting a comfortable fit with earbuds, and this always be a user-by-user case thing, but these worked for me. Adidas did right by providing numerous sizes of tips and wings. This will always be hit and miss, but you have a good chance of finding a good fit. This is just about the most important thing for me, because if they are not comfortable, I won’t wear them. Full stop. For me, they are comfortable, and seal well, which helps with sound quality. The fit is also snug, and I have had zero issues with them staying in place. Comfort and fit are very good, and I think it is perhaps the best aspect of these buds. They went a little “old school” and took a different path with pairing, using a button on the case (more on that case later) as opposed to doing anything with the buds themselves. That said, it was easy, quick, and problem-free. My connection has been solid and consistent. It doesn’t seem they can be paired to multiple devices, which is not a big deal, but something to note. A little flexibility here would have been nice. As for sound, out of the box I think they sound “good.” To my ear, they are a little heavy on the bass, highs are pretty good, but they struggle a bit with the mids. That said, I don’t think these are sold as “the best sounding buds.” To be clear, whatever you throw at them does sound good. Crisp. Clear. Just not the best. That said, you should really download the app for the buds. Here you can play with EQ settings and dial the sound in more to your liking. I do think it improves the sound. It is definitely worth the time. Unfortunately, there is no ANC, and while Adidas does offer their “Awareness Mode,” I found it lacking, at least as I understand it. This is not really a concern for me, but, again, it is something to note. Perhaps others can provide a better experience? In the app you can also customize the controls on the buds, which bud does what, etc… The controls themselves are more or less solid and standard. Play. Pause. Call. Skip Forward. Backward. Assistant. Most of the things you see and would expect. Most. Not all. It simply does not seem you can adjust the volume of playback via these controls. This is a big miss for me, and something I am not sure why they decided to pass on. Maybe this can be added going forward? In use though, I found the available functions responsive and simple to use. I just wish volume control was an option. As for battery life, it has been great for me so far. I seem to be hitting advertised rating, and honestly, I suspect most people will be more than fine here. With the added time the case gets you, it shouldn’t be an issue. Now, let me get to that case. First, I give Adidas some credit here for not taking a cookie cutter approach that everyone else has with this case. It is certainly, different. Also, it is quite slim, and has a small footprint. I also have to add I really haven’t had any “problems” with it yet, but man, I just don’t know. I suppose having the top be detachable means it won’t accidentally break if you somehow get in that scenario, but I just don’t like that aspect. Also, given the target crowd, the mesh top “could” dry them out faster, but it is just one more thing to get caught on something, perhaps tearing, ripping, or getting damaged. It all seems a bit unnecessary. Further, the buds are bit more finnicky for me getting them in their slots than most other I have used. Again, I want to give them credit, maybe this leads to better things going forward, but I just don’t love a lot of this, for me. Most people may not care? Maybe this is me being picky? All of that said, in the end, I do like these buds. Quite a bit. The fit is both very comfortable and solid. They are built well, and I think they will last over time, especially in a workout environment. Sound is good, the controls work well, and battery life should not be an issue. I do question the value here though. The overall package is solid, but without ANC, and a few quirks here and there, and perhaps limited versatility, you may want to wait for a sale. That said, if you are looking just for quality workhorse buds for workouts/active use (which I guess Adidas really is targeting with these), I think these would be a great choice.

I usually do not find most ear buds like these very comfortable due to my ear size and shape. I was pleasantly suprised with how comfortable these really were! If the default earpieces are not the right fit it comes with several more size variations. This is what I liked about these headphones most. They also stayed in the ear very well. I had tried to see if i could get them to fall out but they never would no matter what I was doing. They are also sweat proof/ water proof making them great for active people. These come in a small charging case that has a mesh lid. The lid is magnetic which is an intresting choice. At first i thought that it could be a good idea for if it gets snagged on something it would not break... but i quickly realised how easy it came apart; actually making it easier too loose the lid. The battery life is ok in comparison to other similar headphones. They did last the whole day with on and off use but many of my other headphones last several days between charges. Connecting the headphones via bluetooth was fairly simple. You press and hold the button on the case and find the headphones in the bluetooth menu on your phone. I was able to easily pair this to both an iPhone and an Android seamlessly. A previous set of adidas I had actually required their app for them to pair. There still is an app you can download, this is where you can change any of the headphone settings. When it comes to sound quality, for music they are pretty decent. That have quit a bit of bass for a small earbud. I was not overly impressed however with the call sound quality. I used these while on a confrence call and it made the call a bit quieter and gave it a touch of the fishbowl sound. At one point I bumped my ear and it hung up the call and I had to dial back in. Another feature I was originally excited about was awareness mode. Unfortunately this mode did not meet my expectations. I went for a walk in the park with this mode on. Unfortunately all it picked up was birds chirping, wind, and my dog panting. It did not pick up the sounds of anyone trying to talk to me or other more important sounds which i found frustrating. I was hoping to wear these on my motorcycle; I always make sure to uses a headphone that has a form of awareness mode that way I can hear the important surrounding but also listen to music. I dont think these will end up being a great fit for that. When it comes to music volume, it is also muchmore quiet that my usual riding set as well. This would also hold me back from using these for my rides.

I have tried many wireless ear buds over the years. The Adidas FWD-02 is excellent and in the niche they try to address, the best I have ever used. First off I want to focus on the fit, the amazing fit. Both my girlfriend and I have tried these and using the various gel inserts/cushions/pads (whatever you call them lol) we both achieved a perfect fit! Super snug and comfortable! I can’t emphasis how impressed with this feature of these buds. Then when you combine that with the fact they are water (sweat) resistant and are great at blocking outside noise they are best weed whacking buds ever! Just fantastic for any sort of sweat inducing activity where you want some snug buds to drown out the world while you work or play. Sound quality is excellent as well. Obviously these little guys aren’t going to be booming any bass, but the sound is warm and full. Pleasantly surprised I would say at the quality of sound as I played thru the catalog of perhaps the most diverse sounding artist in music history…one “Weird” Al Yankovic. Set-up was the quickest and easiest I have experience as well. I turned Bluetooth on my phone and almost instantly I was greeted with the option to connect to the new ear buds which included a lovely picture to assure I am clicking on the right option as I own several different pairs. All in all I love these ear buds. Incredible fit with excellent sound. The case is great, I could read the instructions without glasses (thank you!) and a strong selection of varies gel inserts to perfectly fit different sized ears all combine for a strong 5* review. For anyone looking for quality ear buds for an active environment, I would absolutely recommend these to a friend.

Okay, let’s start at the very beginning. At the unpacking, I notice and appreciate the case. It has a cloth cover which would allow the headphones to air out after a good workout. As with most earbuds these days, the case also acts as a charger, and glowing LEDs let you know the relative charge level of the case itself. Next, I see that the headphones come with 4 pair of differently-sized wings for personal fit adjustment. There are also 3 additional sets of ear-tips for attaining that perfect fit and feel. Now to open the case. I like the shape of the main casing of each bud. There’s a cut-out of sorts that makes it very easy to grab each bud with your thumb and forefinger and pull it free from its magnetic cradle. No more struggling to maintain a grip and have the cradle win the fight — especially with wet (sweaty) fingers. That’s a nice touch. Interestingly, as soon as I pulled the first earbud free, I noticed my phone light up with the adidas setup. I was getting ready to open the app, but I didn’t have to do that. I’m assuming that this may be because I already have the adidas headphones app installed since I own some older over-the-ear headphones, as well. If this is a ‘forced’ thing, that would be kind of creepy, but I digress. The sound reproduction was better than I expected for a ‘sport’ model of headphones. Impressive. When playing Dave Mathews Band “So Much To Say” intro, these little guys did a fine job of handling the bari sax. Well done adidas. Phone calls were easily answered and sent, though I can’t figure out how to access my contacts with a voice command. Maybe with these it can’t be done. I would say the main downfall, at least at this time, is the price. However, by next holiday time, these should be a bit more competitive in that arena. These are good quality headphones, from what I can see. And the fact that they can withstand the sweat and motion of a workout is good.

Adidas - FWD-02 Sport True wireless Headphones - Night grey look great. They fit perfectly and sound great. I downloaded the app on the app store and set everything up including how how the long taps are going to work for each ear pierce. They updated the firmware for the set and then I started by pairing them to my phone. Once connect I started by placing them in both ears. I was very impressed with the sound and the lightweight feel for the headphones. The sound had sufficient amount of bass, I tweaked it in the app with the equalizer. Sounds were very crisp and clear, the noise cancellation was very good. The next day I took them to the gym and just pulled them out of the case and then into my ears after pairing them to my watch. No issues at all, I made a call and was able to have a conversation and was told it was easy to hear me and no drop in sounds quality. I talked for about 10 minutes with no issues. I then hung up the call and my music started again and once again the sound was really good. I would highly recommend these headphones.

These Adidas earbuds (wireless headphones) are extremely comfortable! I have sensitive skin and other earbuds tend to make my ears sore or even inflamed after about 30 minutes. I can leave these in for 1-2 hours without any issues. They feel very soft in the ear and the fit is perfect. The packaging is great. Includes a nice charging case, short charging cord, manuals (a Quick Start Guide and Legal/Safety booklet), and a bunch of soft replaceable tips and earpieces. One of the best features, besides the comfort and fit, of these headphones is the simplicity of them. They paired with both my phone and my laptop quickly and easily with no problems. The controls on the earbuds are very simple - tap once to play or pause or receive call, twice to skip forward or reject call, and three taps to skip backwards. You can also long touch to turn on/off the "Awareness" mode, which lets you hear outside noises. Overall, these wireless headphones are great! The sound quality, comfort and ease of use make them the best pair I own.

I absolutely love these - 1. Really thin case makes it a great fit in the pant pocket. 2. Initial pairing was a breeze, just shows up on your phone. 3. Love the feature that it pauses music, or switches phone audio to speaker - when I take it out of my ear. 4. Every time I take them out of the case, they instantly connect to my phone. 5. Great noise isolation even without ANC What's not to love. Well... I really wish the case had wireless charging. That would have made it the perfect bundle. To focus on the sound and fit - as mentioned to my ears at least the noise isolation is fantastic. Even with no music on, as soon as I put them in, I feel an immediate difference and some of the environmental noise just disappears. The sound itself is a bit bass heavy for me, but tweaking the equalizer on the app, got it tuned to something I love. There are of course single, double, triple taps to play/pause, next and previous song. You can also customize long press on each ear - your mobile assistant or turning on/off the "awareness" mode (essentially passes through the environment noise) Firmware update is available as soon as I got it, but I did struggle to install it initially. It kept failing over and over, till I put the earphones back in the case - then it runs for a while and fails again. I have no idea how they updated eventually, but now I don't see an update pending anymore. Not a good experience. Overall, I definitely recommend these, if the next iteration has wireless charging for the case, that would be even sweeter

Want to love but they fell short

I love the Adidas brand in general for apparel and thought these earbuds would fit flawlessly in the Adidas brand wardrobe, but they fall short in to many areas to completely love. I want to start with the good but I would be doing a disservice to those wanting to invest and not waste time, so, I will come out swinging. Unboxing the earbuds I was excited due to the overall look and aesthetics presented to me on the packaging, that excitement turned into confusion when I had the "protective" case in hand. It looks nice but it provides no protestation at all while the buds are housed in their respective charging station. The top of the top of the case is fitted with a very thin fabric similar to a dri-fit shirt that covers two holes directly over the ear buds. The fabric covering is essentially see thru and just rests on top of the ear buds. So if you just toss your case in a bag the bugs are exposed to being damaged. The next completely confusing design to me is the magnetic case top.... it just falls off if opened too far or fast. This case is nothing more than a charging dock station. Looks very nice, charges well, holds charge, but provides little to no protection. Connecting the ear buds was very easy via bluetooth. The connection was stable initially but after long use, I would get disconnected intermittently. When using one ear bud at a time, I would get the disconnect sound from the other bud even though it was still housed in the case, fairly annoying. After pairing the buds I would expect that it would remained paired and connected when not in use, but I would place the buds back into the charging case to recharge after long use and when I received a phone call, I would immediately take a bud out place in my ear, and it would make the sound of being connected, however I had to manually connect at times, very annoying. Okay, the good... Sound is fantastic! It even comes with available EQ app, a real EQ adjustment for several frequencies to fine tune your sound. Although very minute adjustments, it is a step up from other brands claiming EQ adjustment. I was satisfied with the sound so I didn't continually adjust my EQ levels. The comfort is unparallel to my previous brand buds, I can wear these for hours without discomfort. I've actually fell asleep with buds in ear and they stayed put until I woke up and still didn't have any discomfort. Lastly, the battery life is acceptable for the quality of sound produced. Overall, I want love to these buds, but the case in my opinion is a fail as I would rather have full protection, the intermittent connection loss is annoying, but the design, comfort and sound keeps me wanting to use them.

Hello, thanks for your review and feedback. The fabric lid allows the case to be very slim when you are using the earbuds, the hope is that this makes it easier to carry with you in your pockets while being active. It is strange if you had to manually re-connect an earbud that was already connected to your phone. For assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to [email protected]. AdidasHeadphones
