I have the Adidas miCoach Smartrun for 13 months right now.
Pros:
- Built in MP3 with bluetooth.
- Built in Heart Rate monitor with optical wrist (no straps).
- Good coach advices.
Cons:
- Not durable. In a few months you will notice corrosion as shows the picture.
- Poor battery life (althought improved with a firmware upgrade)
- GPS not good, takes forever to locate a signal, even in tracks that I am used to run
- The heart rate monitor started to fail after 11months.
- Charging issues- I can no longer charge my watch and/or it s broken now.
- Adidas still couldnt tell me where can I go to have my watch repaired.
Final aspects:
- Too expensive watch, because I could only use this for a year. I can not recommend this. If you are thinking about buying a watch to run try one of a company with tradition on this.

MP3 player was a must for me. All competitive offerings have GPS and heart rate sensor. The MP3 player was what I was looking for and what sold it for me. Tired of being teathered to a wire and carrying phone/mp3 player with me. No more fanny packs!
Screen froze a couple of times when trying to resume run/workout from pause. this was nearly a deal breaker. 2 out of 26 workouts. I want 100% basic functionality. But micoach button can resume workout, no need to touch screen. I can live with that. Using button hasn't failed once.
Bluetooth headphone lost connection during one run and was never able to re-establish connection. Had to stop the workout and restart watch. I don't like fidgeting with tool in middle of run. This was also a near-deal breaker. But only happened once. (maybe I paused it too long and my LG HBS 750 turned off automatically) So, I'll let it go.
For 1 out of 26 workouts, GPS was unable to establish connection. Grrrrr! Heavily overcast. I was very disappointed. If I'm going on a group run, I can't be standing around waiting for GPS to lock.
All-in-all, I bought it for the MP3 (with GPS and Heart rate), and it has basically done its job.
I love the voice notificaitons in middle of run. can set it to notify with basic information at each mile. Time. Pace. Hear Rate. Distance. No need to look at watch at all. That is awesome.
Micoach website is pretty good. I only run, so have not taken advantage of all functions. Love the shoe tracker. No need to guess how many miles you have on your shoes. Track after every run.
I used Real player to sync playlist. Worked well.
Checked GPS against trail mile markers. It was basically right-on. I'm sure Garmin has better quality GPS (no MP3), but i'm only comparing against myself so GPS is fine.
Battery has to be re-charged every night. Set it to flight mode after run, to conserve battery.
Does not look as big as I thought. I have small wrists and it looked fine. Better than new Timex Ironman. It's a lot cooler looking than most competitors.

I've had a love/hate relationship with this watch. LOVE: heart rate monitor, music on the watch, GPS accuracy, info loaded to miCoach website; Not Love: Initial setup was frustrating, loses charge quickly, charge station is touchy, had to convert my music to mp3 from wma files but otherwise pretty easy to load.

I bought this on a whim since it was about $100 less. I did not take the time to read reviews beforehand. When I actually got around to it, I noticed some issues with durability, like functions failing after some use. I hope my watch doesn't have those issues. So far so good.

One of the best heart rate monitors

I purchased the micoach heart rate monitor for several reasons.
1. I don't have to wear a chest strap. The watch actually obtains my pulse from my wrist.
2. The watch is wireless. It will Bluetooth into by headphones, and play music loaded onto my watch from my computer.
3.The watch also sync's wirelessly to my computer and downloads my workout when finished.
4. The Adidas micoach website is very good and works with the watch. The website has a lot of different workouts that works with the watch, and the watch will prompt you during each workout.
One drawback is that the battery could be a little more robust. I can make it through 2 or 3 workouts with music, depending on the workout. If Adidas can improve the battery, the watch/heart monitor would be worth 5 stars.

I've had this watch only a few months. It's all but totally failed. First it wasn't compatible with my plantronics Bluetooth headphones. Had to get another set of Bluetooth headphones. That would have been fine. This is supposed to be for exercise. I don't know who doesn't sweat when they exercise but it's not this guy. Sweat ultimately is to blame I believe but I wanna meet someone who doesn't sweat running 5+ miles. If I knew it wasn't water resistant I wouldn't have never even brought it kayaking. I never had a problem with the GPS but the heart rate monitor stopped working two weeks ago and the screen doesn't respond to touch correctly. Right now it tells time and plays music. I'd like to add that I am a total adidas nut, I wanted to love this thing. I DID love this thing. And then it stopped working. It was useful while it worked but it's not a work horse. Maybe you can wear it golfing? That's a sport...

Best running watch with all the functions I needed

I'm training for a half marathon and have been using this watch 6 days a week for the past two months. I love that it can track runs with gps, show heartrate without a chest strap, does audible coaching, and plays music via bluetooth. Great watch but you need to have realistic expecations. You should be willing to charge the watch every night. It lasts for all my workouts (up to 2 hours) with plenty of juice to spare and has marathon mode to make it up to 8 hours but no music or coaching. There is a delay in first connecting to GPS. I just plan on the 20 - 30 second delay at the beginning of my run and if it connects faster, I'm happy. Once connected, GPS is solid and accurate for location and distance. Pace and heartrate are reliable and easy to see as you train. Music on bluetooth is awesome and free Mix Radio works really well. I read all the bad reviews but couldn't find a better option and hoped it would be good enough. A lot of the complaints have been addressed with software updates and it has exceeded my expectations. Very happy I took the risk and bought the watch.

I have been using this watch for about a month now and like any new device on the market it has some flaws. But Adidas has been working the bugs out since the day the smartrun watch hit the market. Without customer use and feedback they cant work all the issues out. With that said I can say I personally have not had any issues with the GPS its about 98% spot on so of course there is room for improvement.. I have had Garmin car GPS units that showed me driving through farm land and lakes so compared the smartrun GPS is very accurate. The only complaint I would have is the Bluetooth doesn't like to connect unless my headphones are on while turning the watch on. If I leave my watch in standby from a previous run and try to use the headphone it wont connect until I turn the watch off and on again. Still not enough to make me unhappy with my purchase. All the data it collects and gives me has been very encouraging. Yes the price is a lil bit high but there is no other watch on the market for the same price that offers so many features packed into one unit without the use of another device (i.e. mp3 playback) I love that I only have to have my watch on without caring a music device! Then add the GPS with built in heart rate monitoring. For me this device has been one of the best additions to my running gear! Great Job Adidas!! I have no doubt that this watch will only improve with future updates.
