I still don’t get why, when I use the desktop icon or start menu for Premiere Elements 2022, I still get a home screen where it is clearly labeled as Adobe Premiere Elements 2022 but I have to again pick between Organizer, Photo Editor or Video Editor. If I selected Premiere I know I wanted to do a video, so go straight to it and stop loading what is essentially an advertising screen for the other product. Just ranting, as it can be bypassed by going to the actual executable file in the install folder, just find it annoying.
As far as Adobe products in general, they have been known for their powerful editing capabilities. With that though, usually comes a huge learning curve and lots of tutorials. Elements versions are simplified for the most part and include their own tutorials. Literally taking you step by step on how to do some of the effects. Only downside to these is you can’t deviate from the step you are on and it must be done the way it tells you to do it unless you end it. It’s still good to get to know the process though, so you can start working more in the expert mode eventually.
One of the advertised added features for 2022 is the auto reframe and resize. Their site makes it look simple, but there isn’t a guided tour for it and unless you pick the right format from the new projects option on your own, it doesn’t seem to let you change it. There are options to save it to the proper social media formats, but that does not apply the resize & reframe after the fact. By default, the project resizes to whatever video you first apply to the timeline. However, if you go to File > New Project, you can pick from a list of presets, like ‘Facebook Story’ which is portrait 9:16 1080x1920. So long as you select the ‘Force’ box, everything you add to this project will be placed in that format. Then you select the ‘Auto Reframe’ icon, see photo, to resize the video and the AI tries to find the main subject to keep centered. For the most part, so long as there is a primary subject, it does a decent job. The pan and zoom that it does looks smooth. However, if there are parts where the subject is not so obvious, it takes some effort to key frame adjust the reframe to where you want it. If only they made it capable of letting the user point out the subject and then let the AI track that.
Overall, just like their previous versions, Adobe Premiere Elements is a one time purchase product that lets you do some powerful video editing in a simplified way. No subscriptions required and if you don’t mind what it gives you, no extensive editing skills needed. Easy drag, drop, click and you have something that looks professional.

I am very much an amatuer video editor. I enjoy it, but I mainly put together videos of family gatherings, events, and stop action videos with my kids’ toys. I’ve been using Premiere Elements for a while and really enjoy it. My takes are not meant for the professional but for those wanting to do something with old/new family footage and have little to no experience.
Admittedly, Premiere Elements looks daunting when you first open it. But Adobe has refined the experience to make it’s more accessible and automated options front and center. This can make a big difference for those wanting to jump in without ever seeing the program.
INSTALLATION
Just a few comments as installing Adobe Premiere Elements is virtually identical to installing any other computer program. You will need an Adobe account. I’ve had one, but never really take advantage of what it offers. You can use it to store photos, etc., but I use other programs for it. I have an account because you’re required to have one. But, it does offer some benefits to those willing to incorporate it into their workflow.
It takes about 10-15 minutes to download/install and once it’s done, you simply enter in the serial number in the packaging (or if it was emailed to you). Then you’re off and running.
USER INTERFACE
What’s new to this version, at least what I noticed, was the pop up menu when you open the program. In the past (at least 2018 and 2019 versions) when you opened up Elements it just went to the video editor screen and you pick Easy, Guided or Expert modes. Now, this window pops up and asks you what you want to do. That’s what I mean by putting the accessible options front and center. You can even type in the search bar what you want to do (say video photo slideshow as a basic example) and it takes you right there. Or, you can click on the video editor button and go straight to the video editing timeline.
The editing screen is basically the same (again, to me) as it has been in years’ past, with the main difference being the shading and outlines of buttons. It looks more modern I guess. But I like it, and it makes me feel like I have a new program vs. spending money to buy the same program.
GUIDED MODES
To me, the biggest and most significant changes are in the guided modes. I can’t truly say what parts are brand new, as I haven’t owned the past few years’ updates, but they are really fun to use and it’s an easy way to get a guided tutorial (rather than having a YouTube video open concurrently).
I want to start by saying, the guided modes isn’t like some services where you simply upload the videos and the program spits out something it curates. (i.e. Quick app for GoPro does this). It’s guided in the sense of showing you how to perform certain edits.
Say you want to make a slow mo video, or time lapse, you click on that option under guided, ‘fun edits.’ From there a pop-up screen pops up and it uses green boxes to show you were the buttons are to perform this type of edit. There’s even arrows in the pop-up box if you need to go back a step.
One of my favorite “fun edits” was the animated motion titles. It was an easy way to put sophisticated titles into your videos. The animated overlay, I’m pretty certain is an entirely new feature, and it too, is a lot of fun. It’s exactly what it sounds like, there’s an animated overlay on your video. One example was clouds, which would surround say, darkish footage of a house. But it wasn’t just a static cloud, like the title suggests, it was animated.
I wish there were more blueprints so to speak, for those of us who need a spark of creativity, to create entire movies. Whereas Elements is more of a “here’s how you create this type of effect.” But frankly, that seems like a tough ask. And honestly, part of the fun is simply getting in there and figuring everything out.
But like I said, Adobe doesn’t just take your videos and pump out a curated movie, you still need to have an idea of what you want to do with it.
CONCLUSION
Adobe Premiere Elements is not going to eliminate the feeling of being overwhelmed for novice or beginner video editors. But it has a lot of easy to use and easy to follow rules to help guide you in figuring out how the software works. At the end of the day, you get out what you put into it, but Elements 2022 helps you unlock the power of its software a little easier.

Premiere Elements is a Nice Beginner's Program

Adobe has released it's next iteration of "Elements" for 2022. Premiere and Photoshop Elements can be purchased separately or together. This package is for Premiere Elements only. This was a software download. Disclaimer: This is the first time I have used a "simpler" video editing software package. I have traditionally used full and more complex editors since I also create Blu-ray discs.
PROS:
---------
* As with previous version of this software, Adobe offers 3 editing guides - Quick, Guided, & Expert - depending on level of expertise.
* Encoding time is on par with other video editing software I have used that are full video editors.
* I can see how a newer person would really like the "guided" editing feature as the instructions address step-by-step how to make changes to the video. I used a number of the editing features but really felt more comfortable using the "expert" mode, only because of my experience with video editing.
* I do like some of the extras that are traditionally a little more difficult in Expert mode - and the templates provided can make it easier to edit at times - like with double-exposure, playing video titles in the text, and color pop is a bit easier.
CONS:
---------
* The software is pretty solid and basic. I could not find any real bad issues other than not having the ability to create discs - but that's not what this software is built for.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
------------------------------------
* After installing, I did get a pop-up stating that 2 instances of this one license can be used, meaning you can buy and use on 2 computers.
CONCLUSION:
============
Having used more advanced video editing software, using this one was a step back as far as features; however, any video novice would definitely find this helpful, especially the guided section. I got some use out of the guided tools more than anything. I was able to create some guided video footage with special effects and then insert them into another program to complete more complex editing tasks. I don't really have anything to compare it to since this is my first time using. Based on this use, it's a pretty solid program, especially for beginners.

Great program....
Installed on windows 11 no problems..
Really easy to use if you are a beginner or if you are more sophisticated too.
Me I am the not so sophisticated type. I just used the easy to pick selection. Pick the videos and I was off and running.
My wife on the other hand is able to use the expert mode and was able to create a tribute video for her nephew who was recently killed by a DUI driver.
She was able to specifically use music with fade in and transitions and other complex features and I could not fathom using or having the patience to do.
Regardless of what function you use this is a great product.
Also easy to upload to YouTube.
Would highly recommend this product. Not like it was 20 years ago when you had to take a class to use a program like this from Adobe.

I want to start my review by saying that I tested adobe premier elements on a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro with 8 GB of storage so your usage may vary. The program runs mostly okay on my MacBook. I do love to take a lot of videos throughout the day to document life and events. I'm no pro, but I can generally find my way around many programs and learn them as I go. Adobe Premier Elements is filled with enough guides and assists you in getting your photos and videos stitched together into a video. One thing I did notice is that the program kind of stuttered a little bit when I was scrubbing through 4k video that I shot with my iPhone. It even kind of lagged a little bit on the timeline. ( both video and audio). I assume Adobe can maybe patch it and make it work a little better in the future. Other than that, I didn't really run into many hiccups when stitching together photos and videos. There is an assisted mode and an expert mode if you're good at this sort of stuff already. I'll admit.. I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to editing videos and even though it has a few easy options available, I found myself a little overwhelmed by the program when I first launched it. There is still a pretty steep learning curve, and I had to find some online tutorials to get me started. Would I recommend this to someone? Sure. I find that it has enough value and tools that you could use to make videos for yourself or YouTube and social media. It's a step up from iMovie and I think its a good way to "get your feet in the water" so to speak.

Years ago, Microsoft made a simple video editor called the ‘Microsoft movie maker’. Come windows 10, movie maker was long gone. However, the concept of easy to use video editors still had a niche to fill. Introducing the Adobe Premiere Elements 2022 video editor. This thing reminds me of the old favourite but on steroids.
Featuring some of the easiest video editing tools I have ever used, premiere elements takes the concept of simple video editing to a whole new level. Over time, people needed to make small videos, be it vacation pictures synced with music, or these days a viral video to be shared on all the social media platforms, In that sense, this editor is amazing. From the point of picking the perfect aspect ratio for your social media videos, to easily reframe subjects (with it does automatically with a click), to adding fun animated overlays, it only takes a few clicks to get something you want. I love the ease of use.
Given that I am a user of Photoshop Elements (as well as Creative Suite 5), the transition to the Premiere elements was very easy. I find the numerous guided video edits very handy. The automated AI (Adobe Sensei) Editing feature is neat, along with the motion tracking for effects. I liked the fact that I did not have to ‘render’ the footage, the effects can be put in real-time if your machine is fast enough, and the syncing to music is very easy. Exploring styles for your vacation picture made into videos are even easier to use than some other tools out on the market. The best part is if you get both the Photoshop Elements and the Premiere Elements, you get a seamless transition between picture editing and video making.
I used to use Adobe Premiere (the pro version) for a lot of my video editing, and this software seems to do all that I need without the extra hassle of dealing with a pro-level editor. If you are doing social media videos and other influencer type videos, this works so much better than you would think.
So what are the cons, well the biggest one is that this is not a multi-track or multi-cam video editor, unlike the full Adobe Premiere, nor does it have all those fancy colour corrections etc. But given that it is designed as a consumer-level product, it still has quite a bit of power and ease of use. I find it very useful for quick videos. If I were you, and you are looking for an easy to use video editing program, this is the one I’d pick. Personally, I’ll get both the video and photo editors, as they work together for your workflow, with seemly transitioning from the two software. I should also mention this is not a subscription service, buy it one time, use it until whenever you get to upgrade the software
I am just surprised by how good this software is. I’ve been using the Photoshop elements for quite some time now (it’s on my travel laptop), but I had never given a thought to the premiere side of the video editing suite until now. This is a keeper, I hope you feel so too.

Adobe Premiere Elements 2022 is an awesome simple to use video editor with clear interface, great video effects with guided edits and cross platform support. This version has some new features like aspect ratios, guided edits, auto reframe feature and much more.
Installation is digital once purchased with clear instructions. If you don’t want to subscribe for yearly subscription, then purchasing this version is a viable option. Since, I already own Adobe photoshop elements (last year version), I opted for this standalone app for $99. If you need both, then the bundle version is $149.99. All these are one time purchase with no subscription required.
Some of the features to mention are new slideshow Styles, organizing media, compressed video output, step by step Guided edits (around 27), Animated object overlays, auto reframe, Auto creations, Video editing interface with easy edits in quick mode, picking the perfect aspect ratio, smart trim, candid moments, auto smart tone, Reduction of Grainy noise, Video Stabilization, cool double exposure, Time Lapse, Action cam Fix, Animated Skies, Video collage, chroma key, color pop, Audio editing, freeze frames and motion titles, animated social posts and much more.
If you are a new Vlogger or content creator and would like to add some fun to your video without having to spend a lot on video editing tool, then this may be the right tool with few caveats. This version lacks multicam editing, 3D editing, VR content, export to H.265(HEVC) and screen recording option like pro versions.
Performance of Adobe Premiere Elements is good and performed well with standard video editing options. I tested with my G14 gaming laptop and had no issues when rendering or editing.
Overall, great video editing that is easy to use with lot of new features and sets a stage for competition with its amazing performance and price point and will be a powerful editor for anyone new to Vlogging edits or content creation.

Great software to start learning how to edit video

I received the download for Adobe Premiere Elements 2020 and clicked the link. The page had the download link, I clicked it and downloaded the software, and entered the key code. The installation was simple until I had to enter the key. It wasn’t a 16-digit numeric code, so I had to click a link to Adobe and enter it there. I thought that unlocked the software, but it didn’t. I just kept getting the link to enter the keycode I was given. Finally, after the 3rd try, I saw after entering my code, I had to click a button or link to receive the 16-digit numeric code. Once I had that, I was golden. I copy/pasted it into the app/software, and it unlocked Premiere Elements.
So, to start off, I’m not a video guy…hence the reason I chose the video software. I have an AS degree in Photography and would like to learn how to create and edit videos. Premiere has a quick start as well as an expert setting, so it should be educational and entertaining at the same time. Also, there is a tab in the software that has guided videos to educate me on how some things are done. They include getting started, trimming, or splitting clips, adding transitions between clips, adding titles, adjusting brightness, color, and contrast, adding an adjustment layer, and adjusting shadows and highlights. That’s just the basics, then there are 8 videos on video adjustments, 2 on audio adjustments, and 10 on some fun edits. That alone is worth the price for me. It should give me a basic foundation on which to build.
As for the software, it’s pretty much like it has been for a few years. You fire up the app and you get an Adobe screen that has an icon for Photo Elements and Premiere Elements. If you own both, you’re set. If not, clicking the software you own will open the app, clicking the one you don’t, will offer you the choice to install it from a DVD or install the trial version.
So, what’s new in this version? You can pick the aspect ratio to edit and export your created videos. The software can easily resize the video you create for social media, cropping it so the important action is left. There are animated overlays that can add to the look and feel of your creations. As stated above, you can adjust shadows and highlights so more of your recordings are visible to the viewer. There are animated slideshow templates for photos and videos to create stories for you to show off to family and friends. Lastly, you can compress your video files, so they are smaller for uploading to the internet or social media.
IMHO, if you want to learn how to edit video and you don’t want to spend a large initial investment, Premiere Elements might fill that want. It’s not part of the monthly Adobe suite/subscription, so once you purchase it, you own it. After spending time with it, maybe you’ll choose to pay the monthly fee to upgrade to Premiere Pro and have all the latest tools Adobe has to offer. In my case, this will work just fine until I get good at it. Then I’ll probably pay for the subscription since it also includes Photoshop.

I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements 2021 for about a year to edit my daughter’s music videos and post them to YouTube. Moving from the 2021 to the 2022 version was a seamless transition. I checked a few of the projects created with the prior version of Elements and was able to open them in 2022 with no problems at all.
App layout and interface is pretty much unchanged with this version. I did notice slightly larger and cleaner looking preview playback buttons and a new icon in the controls strip for the new Auto Re-frame feature.
Not a ton of new features but there are a few new ones such as auto-reframe. It lets you take a video and resize the aspect and the software will shift the primary action area if off-center automatically to the center of the new frame. I haven’t tried them yet, but the animated overlays look fun and pretty realistic. The ability to adjust shadows and highlights is also a handy feature if your source video is too light or dark.
To compare performance between versions I did an export of a 30 second video that had 2 different video clips with a transition between them and separate audio tracks. 2022 was marginally faster to render (44 seconds vs. 47 seconds) Doesn’t seem like much but it could add up for really large projects and I guess even a tiny bit of improvement is still good.
Bottom line, Premiere Elements is still a very capable and powerful video editing tool for a reasonable price. And the 2022 version brings a few new features along with a consistent interface for those upgrading from a previous version.

I use adobe Premier Pro 2020 at work for producing highlight films and training presentation and it is truly amazing the degree of creative freedom you have…almost too much sometimes! That’s why I was curious to try out a more simplified version to do some quick less intensive home movie productions. I was hoping to drop some clips into a timeline and select a song and come back a few minutes later and watch all the fun I had on vacation ect. Adobe did not disappoint. You can auto-create movies with themes. The themes were a little juvenile (depends on ones taste I guess). Think of scrap booking where you have a picture and nana would add little cut outs and cute frames to add a little “excitement” to the photos. I chose a “home movie” theme since I was working with home movies and it had a little camcorder zoom in and cut to my video and then the traditional video 5-4-3-2-1 countdown then fade into my video. It was fun to play around with it although a little juvenile and cheezie. It should be noted that auto movies with themes had a 15 minute long max…. just fyi. I have found over the years I regret adding those little cheezie graphics to my videos because after years pass…I just want to see my little dog that has passed away and not some stupid animation that looked cool in 2001 but not so much anymore. Anyway…. I just liked to drop the clips in and throw some transitions in and bam…donezo. Nice and clean and just the essence of the videos and the memories. I was also interested in the video clean up aspects of the software. I dropped some old VHS video that I transferred to digital a few years back and reduced the haze, noise and sharpened it and it turned out nice. Software can only do so much with old video. Some day would love to have a retail version of Adobe that could use AI and really fill in the frames and texture to take old 480 and make it 4K!!! Adobe also has the launch page come up as a webpage that has an organizer button, photoshop elements that will give you a photo editor free trial and the premier elements and suggestions on things to try ect. Once you click on the premier elements it opens up to the app itself. The app has a “quick” box timeline where the clips are in little boxes you can throw transitions into. There is a “guided” button which hand holds you as to what to do for the very novice and an “expert” button which looks more like Adobe Premier Pro in a very basic sense. It a great basic alternative to the more sophisticated Adobe CC suite. Overall… If you are new to video editing and want to do some basic “scapbooking” style home movies or just some basic home movies with cleaning up some lighting or camera shake and adding some transitions and music. This is an awesome choice. IF on the other hand you are expecting to produce a “movie” and really want the freedom to spend many many hours laboring over a sequences and multiple sound canvases ect… this is probably not the program for you. I really like that Adobe did not abandon the casual video editor user. I think they did a good job with this by providing just the right amount of tools to let a lot of people have fun with their videos and not have to commit to learning a professional video suit.

As a user who has been working with videos for many years, Adobe Premiere Elements would seem unlikely to meet my needs. The truth is that I use both this and the Pro version. I’m going to describe the reasons so those reading this review can make their choice.
When I have some personal and some very basic work videos that are short but would benefit from some basic effects, Premier Elements will do the job very quickly. No need to spend a lot of time figuring out soundtracks, masking, blue screening, and so on. Elements have all of these at the click of a mouse. Thus, even for me, this is my go-to tool for very basic material. This version includes auto-reframe of subjects, which can automatically cut out most of the surroundings to focus on what is most important for the scene. It works mostly well, and it is definitely very easy even for those using a video editor for the first time. It extends photo background, like Photoshop, giving the illusion of a much wider background than it actually is. I tried that a couple of times and the result was convincing. Animated overlay is another feature. This one depends a lot on what you choose to overlay. If you overdo it or choose the wrong seen or animation, it will look very artificial. Three out of four of my tries were somewhat disappointing. It is not a problem with Premiere. The issue is that it is automated through some type of AI but as you can imagine, it just can’t do magic for you. Keep trying them with different scenes and you will find what works and what doesn’t. Adobe makes the interface easier and easier every version and this year is no exception.
The other reason to use Elements is to start video editing. It makes it a fun experience for beginners. It is my recommendation for anybody aspiring to become a video editor but who has little to no experience. Once you’ve had fun with it and mastered all its tools and if you’re still enthusiastic enough to learn and do more, then you will be more justified to spend the extra cash and go with the Pro.
When working on videos that require powerful results, Premier Elements won’t cut it. It lacks a lot of tools and customization for a professional work. There is no question that Premiere Pro is the tool to choose here. In comparison, Elements is like a toy and Pro is the real deal. The built-in effects in Elements are too few and customization is very limited. That being said, I personally believe that Elements will meet the needs of those who are not professionals while giving them a result that looks like a lot of effort was put into it. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve used both versions for many years and even before I got this to review, I’d spend the money on Elements even though I have a subscription to the Pro version. It is just a life saver when I’m in a hurry and need to come up with something quick for family. Even if you have previous versions, especially more than a couple of years behind, the incremental feature upgrades make it worth it.

Premiere Elements 2022 is a great product to quickly throw together videos for an amateur. I took some Halloween pictures and in minutes made a slideshow with transitions, effects, music, and filters of the evening. To try out the video editing I took a quick video and loaded it up. Again I was able to add filters, transitions, and music by just dragging the element where I wanted it. Adobe provides a chunk of free downloadable; music, effects, animations, and filters.
Premiere Elements has a Quick Mode and an Expert Mode. Quick was really easy for simple projects. Expert seemed to have a lot of advanced options. I was able to still utilize a lot of the features with my limited experience. However I felt like some of the overlays and effects could be more user friendly. So many things were as easy as drag and drop but I could not get the overlays to work that easy. And as with a lot of Adobe's other products, there are a lot of features hidden behind menus. Something you would think would be easy, like movie size of slideshow, were no where to be found.
Another issue I had was with the amount of resources the software pulls. I have a Dell Creator Edition laptop meant for this type of thing and editing a 2 minute movie started to cause choppy playback and eventually the program crashed. I was mostly just enhancing a video and not doing any major editing. Luckily I had already saved. The setting to utilize the CPU and GPU was enabled that was supposed to help with this. Also it was plugged in and I had no other software running. It just seems like for simple tasks this shouldn't be a problem and makes me leery about vesting a bigger project with this product.
I like that Adobe offers a lot of guides and I look forward to diving into them and learning more about how to use the many features this product has.

Adobe - Premiere Elements 2022 for Windows
As with all software of this type, there is a learning curve needed to make use of all the different functions and features. With that in mind, there is a multitude of guides and tutorials both built into the software and also on YouTube to see what is possible and learn how to do it. If you are serious about your video editing and looking to create some nice video presentations that can use both standard video aspect and “phone” aspect videos, then this software is worth a good look.
Using the software itself, there are different levels to use, depending on how familiar you are with the program – ranging from a guided “step-by-step” for beginners all the way to “expert mode” that allows full use of all available features and functions.
There are many functions that are geared towards using the aspect ratio provided by phone videos to create a full-frame video, as well as special “social media” features that can create a nice presentation with effects from a collection of pictures and/or videos. The AI “Artificial Intelligence” analysis of video clips also enhances video automatically when used.
There is a good organizational system that will tag videos and sort them by different tags. For those with a large existing collection of videos, these can be analyzed and sorted with an “Auto Curate” function that does a pretty good job of finding the best quality videos and sorting them by quality, subjects (people, pets, landscapes) – with suggestions for the best videos to use.
Even after using the software and trying different features, there is still a lot to be discovered and there does not seem like much this software will not do without going to professional level software. If you are a hobbyist or don’t require the most complex manipulation of videos, the Adobe Premiere Elements should pretty much cover all the bases for you.
There is a trial version of the software that you can download and try for yourself on the Adobe web site, so if you are looking to switch from a more limited software package or want to see if the Adobe can perform some function or video editing feature that you would like to have, it would be a simple matter to download and install the trial version to see if it meets your requirements. You might also check YouTube and have a quick look at some of the demonstrations and tutorials to see the full potential of the software.

I'm a big fan of Adobe products in that they tend to just work, and Premiere Elements 2022 is no exception. While I'm used to working in Premiere Pro, I wanted something a little easier and light weight for smaller edits. And for the most part this fit the bill.
Now, it's not without its headaches. I found that some things could have been designed better. When selecting the Instagram post preset, having it auto select the maintain aspect ratio button would have been a huge help. The program also had issues detecting my dedicated GPU on my laptop. It kept trying to use my iGPU built in to my 5800HX and having graphics issues. None of the CC versions have this issue, so I'm not sure why Elements does.
Motion tracking is probably the best feature in this release. Having it lock onto a subject and track them when using a social media 1:1 aspect ratio worked better than expected and much easier than on a full version of Premiere, though I suspect this magic will also reach CC in the near future.
All in all, it works well and does what it should. You'll likely still be watching video tutorials for some things, but the user interface should be easy enough for a basic user.

I really wanted to like Premiere Elements 2022. Really, I did. However I feel Adobe has just about hindered what should be a great product.
If you've never edited videos before and want a beginners course then this might work for you. If you're more experienced then look to something more powerful.
My main complaint about this software is that to do anything at all you need to create an Adobe cloud account. Install it? Need an account. Want to import videos to edit? Need an account. I could look past the first thing but having to sign into a cloud account to import LOCALLY stored media to edit is a bridge too far for me.
Somethings I did like was the auto color correction. Nicely implemented. If you want a quick and dirty movie composed of various videos and photos then this is pretty handy.
But for me that near constant need to sign in to yet another cloud account/service leads me to pass on this one.

Adobe software can be daunting for those who are not professionals. That all said, each year Adobe releases a new version and the AI improvements and guided tools are making Premiere Elements easy for anyone who wants to get into video editing but with still enough flexibility for the advanced user.
I have been playing with Adobe Premiere Elements 2022 for a few days now. I'm running on this on a very well spec'd custom built Windows gaming rig, so your results may vary, but the Elements Premiere seems to run much faster than last year. The AI filters are also a lot of fun, it really makes iMovie (for those who use a Mac) feel way too basic and dated.
The real test for me in all of this is when I put my (less than technical) partner in front of the software to see if she can edit videos of the family. The answer is YES. She was adding graphics, effects, filters, audio with ease - so much so that I had to beg for my computer back.
Until I'm really ready to subscribe to Creative Cloud, this one of purchase of Adobe Premiere Elements makes the most sense for me and it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Adobe Premiere Elements 2022 for Windows {Digital} is fun and useful. The install process took less than 7 minutes start to finish. I am running an Intel i9 with particularly good internet so result would obviously vary. I was offered this product for testing purposes and do not edit or publish videos professionally. I did however, a couple of years back evaluate an older version of Premiere, which I loved and used a ton. Adobe has several software interface upgrades that make using even easier. With quick features that allow making a FB, YT, or Insta video post look very professional without the hours of editing. But if that is your thing like mine, you can literally spend those hours editing videos to be whatever you can dream up. I enjoy the newish layout, the user-friendly interface, and honestly did not have any real complaints with the software.
