Agatha Christie is an alternate time line

Three “alternate histories” where Agatha Christy solves mysteries herself. (Alternative history in the same sense J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movies reimagined the original “Star Trek” backstory.) The first and best deals with Mrs. Christie’s real disappearance for several days in the early 20th Century. The middle movie occurs some years later when Mrs. Christie met her second husband. The final movie is set in World War II and is a sequel of sorts to the first movie.
A different actress plays Agatha Christie in each picture. “Downton Abbey” fans will recognize the first movie’s actress. All three movies were made for television. Each is competently or better acted and directed. All three exhibit typical English attention to getting details of sets and setting right. However, the first movie’s script is better than either sequel. The first movie’s mystery is also better than either of the sequels. That does not make the sequels “bad” movies: just not quite as good as the first movie.
