    ## Setup The Airthings View Radon sensor was fairly easy to set up. Just unbox it, download the app, create an account (ugh!), then follow the instructions to pull the battery tab (batteries are included!) and connect it to your WiFi network. The Airthings View Radon can also be run by USB, but surprisingly, I had a difficult time finding instructions on Airthing’s website. The sensors take about 7 days to calibrate, but thankfully, Airthings let you see some early numbers right away. I appreciate this, as some air quality units I’ve used completely hide everything until the calibration period is over. ## Performance When we first purchased our current home, I used a dedicated electronic radon tool to measure the basement, and I found the Anythings View Radon unit is reporting very similar numbers to that unit, so they appear to be accurate. While I only have been using the unit for a week, Anythings recommends at least 30 days (and perhaps several months) to get a more accurate picture of radon over time as radon can fluctuate from week to week. This is good advice, as radon is one of those things many homeowners only measure once when they purchase their home, then forget about it. Radon levels can change over time. I remember purchasing my first townhome (a new build) and the radon levels skyrocketed over 20 pCi/L when I measured it a couple months later! I like this unit as I can easily check on the radon in my home in the app or by simply walking up to the unit and reading the built-in display. There is a web dashboard available, too, that displays a nice graph so I can see how the radon trends over time. I like that this also measures the humidity and temperature for the area where it is placed (in my case, the basement). I can easily tell if the dehumidifier is doing its job. Anything also lets you take your data out easily with a CSV export and a nice API available to those of us that like to nerd-out with this information. :) For smart home enthusiasts, I even found a Home Assistant integration for Airthings! ## Summary Overall, the Airthings is a good tool to have if radon is a concern for you, even if you already have a radon mitigation system so you can verify that it is doing its job. I like that Airthings makes your data easily accessible via a CSV export and an API.

Radon is one of those things we don't think about until we find out it's a problem. Exposure to increased levels of radon can cause lung cancer. This unit is extremely easy to set up and get running. I downloaded the app, connected the unit and it was ready. It comes with batteries but if you place it near a plug, it can also be powered via the included USB cord. The detector not only checks for radon but it will monitor temperature and humidity as well. I have not had an alert yet but it will let me know if something is dangerous or otherwise out of whack. The app is super easy to navigate. There is a dashboard that gives you the overall view with graphs showing trends over days/weeks or even the whole year. It graphs the radon levels, humidity and temperature separately. I placed the unit on the stairs to the basement since that is the place most likely to detect radon. My daughter lives in the lower level so I want to be sure the air is safe for her. I feel better knowing that the unit is running and checking the radon for me at all times. I have not had a need to contact support but they have a chat feature right in the app to reach help if needed.

I primarily got this to see if I had any Radon concerns in my home. I live in an area that isn't known for Radon, but I wanted to see what levels I do have. Also I am kind of a tech geek who likes stuff like this. I have allergies too and try to keep the air, temperature and humidity in my home comfortable and healthy. This unit can actually be grouped with other Airthings sensors and one of them can be used as a hub for the home. There are 7 different sensors that they sell, which can record different things (i.e., temperature, humidity, radon, VOCs, etc.) and viewed on the unit or a hub. I am currently using this unit as a standalone unit for Radon in my home, but I think I will add additional units later and make one a hub. That is the great thing about the different Airthings units too. I especially like that I can adjust the display settings on any of the units directly from the App at anytime. I am currently watching the indoor humidity and outdoor temperature, because winter is coming. But, I can still view all of the different things it monitors from their App or a full view on the Dashboard (from any Web accessible device) and presumably from a Hub. You can also view a history of the different levels (temperature, humidity, Radon, etc.) over time. The Radon detector takes about 7 days to stabilize. The devices are a little expensive. But now that I'm working from home, I like to have visibility of this information. Especially in the winter when the air gets so dry and the temperature takes huge drops. The units are easy and quick to setup and configure. You have to log each unit into your home wireless network using the Bluetooth from your phone. Then after that, they automatically sync wirelessly to the Airthings cloud and down to the Hub or Dashboard. Overall, an absolutely great idea for the home that was executed and designed very well.

Radon wasn't something I was aware of until a friend, who bought a condo, told me about it. So seeing this product come through I decided to give it a try. Radon can be very dangerous and knowing what levels of Radon your home has is important. The packaging is nice enough. It comes with the unit itself, a USB charging cable, some commander strips and a manual. Setup is very easy (requires a smart phone and downloading the Airthings App). I like that it's not flashy or fancy. You can easily customize what the screen displays (up to two tiles of information). I placed mine in my attached garage (bottom level). Due to the type of screen it uses, I can tell it won't need charging for a quite a long time. The Airthings App is pretty intuitive to use and shows a good amount of information from the radon detector. I've had it about a week and check it regularly to see what levels of Radon it's reporting. Radon is gas. So the levels can fluctuate based on the area you place this in. Since I use my garage regularly, I've noticed the levels are highest (2.1) in the morning (because the garage has been closed all night) to 1.5 during the day. Based on the WHO and EPA, levels 2 and under are considered safe and normal. Anything above this is considered potentially dangerous and they recommend Radon Mitigation.

Airthings - View Radon Battery Wi-Fi Smart Radon/Humidity/Temperature Sensor The critical item being measured here, unless you suffer socially from humidity-caused curly hair, is the Radon. I suppose we shouldn’t be too dependent on the temperature sensor, because the device’s operating range is limited to a range of 40-104 degrees. Hard to imagine any risks the temperature sensor might protect us from, although high heating or air conditioning bills could be a concern. Radon is a serious lung cancer risk that attracts media attention every few years. The EPA along with the Surgeon General suggest that levels above 4.0 pCi/L need to be addressed. The research is unequivocal and high concentrations are often compared to smoking multiple packs of cigarettes per day. It’s a long term issue in homes IF it is accumulating to dangerous levels. Radon can be measured and the risks mediated where it is above acceptable levels. Airthings offers this Radon sensor in a package with a few other sensors that are interesting but certainly not urgent. Radon is a radioactive gas that is released regularly at various concentrations from decaying uranium rocks in the earth’s crust until it’s released into the atmosphere where it too dilute (0.4pCi/L avg) to be of concern. [pCi/L = picocuries per liter] Of course, we don’t live outside, and depending on the design of our homes and the ventilation in our living spaces, our living spaces may be inadvertently collecting and concentrating it at higher (1.3pCi/L acceptable avg) concentration. SETUP: Download the Airthing’s App and connect your phone to the Airthing sensor device using bluetooth, which will then enable you to connect to Wi-Fi for permanent access using your phone. You’re now sampling your air using Airthings. The App will display Radon levels along with the indoor humidity and temperature hour by hour, day after day. There are batteries (6-AA) in the package or you can plug in using the provided USB cord. Airthings offers a hub, purchased separately, if you want to link and monitor multiple radon sensors around your home. PERFORMANCE/SUMMARY: This is a very simple to setup, simple to use Radon sensor. I have no way to determine the accuracy of this sensor. I can confirm that it reliably reports out a continuous stream of Radon levels that vary within a narrow, and safe, range. Because we are constantly air-conditioned, the temperature and humidity variations are similarly narrowly range-bound, but always reflect what the weather suggests ought to be occurring. I can’t see every danger in my life. AIRTHINGS has me covered. Recommended.

After downloading the app and then using the QR code for advanced instructions, I found out this unit can only connect to 2.4GHz WiFi networks. We have a mesh 5 GHz system (no 2.4 option). BUT I decided to try a few things to make it work. If you select the cannot see network option, you can enter your network name and password. It still didn’t work. But I was then able to scan networks and mine came up. Then I entered the password again and it finally worked. With each of these steps you will have to enter the passcode on the front of the unit and it changes. Whew … finally connected. After that it was a breeze. When we purchased our house, our inspection found a radon level of 17. We had a radon mitigation system installed and our radon levels have been low. Systems can fail and this gives us piece of mind. The initial read after an hour was 0.3. On the dashboard it will show a daily graph and averages. You can also view humidity levels and temperature. The app does work well and can also send alerts. Humidity and temperature are accurate and the numbers matched out smart thermostat. It is really nice that the battery isn’t draining. It should last for months before needing a recharge. I am really happy with this unit with the exception of the 2.4 GHz connection. But since it is working now with my 5GHz network I will give it 5 stars.

Finally a great device to measure radon levels inside home. View Radon is a wonderful indoor monitor that gives you Radon levels in your home plus humidity and temperture readings. Need 6 AA batteries to operate which are included. Can be mounted on wall or laying on a shelf in or around the place you wish to place this . You have to create an app account through Airthings ( which is free) for this monitor to work. Setup is super simple. This View Radon detector is Wi-FI connected unit that works as a hub. This monitor is battery operated or use the USB plug which is also included with this unit. Includes a customized display connected to an app ( iOS/Andriod) online dashboard with full date and reporting. View you data anytime/anywhere with this wireless and WI-FI connected device with up to 3 years of battery life. All directions and set up an app are included with this unit. Great monitor with lots of data to view your homes air quality and humidity . You can also setup notifications to be sent to your phone with preset or user defined thresholds. High levels of Radon can cause cancer in non smokers. Breathe easier knowing your home is safe from Radon. I highly recommend this monitor, very well built and the technology was put into manufacturing this device. Great monitor and a great simple device to satisfy multiple needs. Highly recommend this to anyone.

I recently got an Airthings Battery operated Wi-Fi Smart Radon Protector. Besides measuring your home for Radon, it also monitors room temperature and humidity. The device measures about 6.25 inches wide, 3.5 inches tall and 1.25 inches thick. It has a screen that measures about 3.25 inches wide and 1.25 inches tall. It has a paperwhite display and green, yellow and red LEDs to signify how the device senses the air quality to be. Just wave your hand in front of the device to update the screen and show the lights. It’s very easy to setup. Start by downloading the Airthings app for your smartphone. There are versions for both Android and IOS. Next, pull the plastic tab that allows the batteries to connect. If hanging it on the wall, put the 3M Adhesive strips on the back and place the until where you want to use it. Start the app and follow the on-screen instructions to pair it to your phone via Bluetooth then configure the devices Wi-Fi setting. As part of the setup, you will define what building and room the device is in. You are now up and running. From within the app, you can see the current Radon levels, temperature, and humidity. This can also be done via a web-based dashboard. Going into the configuration, you can configure notifications for Radon levels, humidity and temperature. They have set defaults from the factory and you can modify them if you like. You can also modify the location information, display settings, network information and unpair the device. Note that if you change the location, it will erase your historical information. For screen settings, you can see the Radon levels and humidity or temperature, or outside weather. You cannot view Radon, temperature and humidity at the same time. From the software and the web dashboard, you can view current and historical data in text and graph form. I think that it’s a very nice device. The only negative that I see is not being able to view the Radon reading, temperature, and humidity all at the same time. I would have no problem recommending this device to anyone needing one.

The Airthings View Radon comes well packaged the smart radon monitor with AA batteries included, USB cable, some sticky tape for mounting and some documentation. Set up was easy. You download the Airthings app on your phone and connect to the device. It will use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for the set up process. You will notice it should take 7 days of monitoring to complete the set up. During this time I was testing using only the USB to power the device; and, only using AA batteries. This resulted in the monitoring to be reset and I had to start over. Lesson learned is to make sure there is always a power source connected. My preference is not to use 6 AA batteries, if possible. You configure the device to monitor and display what you like. I chose radon and humidity for the display settings. You can choose 2 of the following for the display settings: - Radon - Humidity - Temperature weather and temperature The app works really well. You can see your history. The best place to view this is in the Web Dashboard. My radon was an average of 0.9 pCi/L. My humidity average was 39%. My temperature average is 72 degrees. I found the basement location had the highest radon level of about 1.3 pCi/L. If you wave your hand in front of the display, you will see your air quality. Mine always said the air quality is good. Radon is a concern and connected to lung cancer I believe. This was a concern for me as radon is an issue in the region I live. If this is a concern to you, this device is for you. I recommend this product.

I live in an area where radon is present (particularly in basements), so this was an important addition to the home. The setup was very easy (download the Airthings app, clicked to add a device, entered the Bluetooth code on the mobile phone that shown on the device, and began using the device). It took about 5 minutes to set up and begin using the device. While I got the device for radon, it was interesting to see that temperature and humidity can also be displayed on the device (humidity in the basement is a good thing to know in the summer months). The device began sensing and reporting on radon straight away, but it says that it will take 7 days to have a proper 'run rate' to properly assess the level. I am eager to see the outcome in a week - and to have the peace of mind to know the radon levels going forward. The device itself is well designed. It comes with 3M strips to attach the battery-powered device to the wall. It has a 'paper white' display, which is clear to read, and that I understand is very good for battery life.

Small, very compact sensor. I have verified the reading by having it close to my thermostat for temp reading. My thermostat is also smart, so I have a history on the temperatures. They definitely agree with each other. My thermostat also does a humidity reading and they have compared almost identically. Why do I have this by the thermostat? I wanted to verify the readings for a week before giving it a permanent home on the other side of the house. Hopefully I can adjust the vents to have a more consistent environment thru the house. The big bonus is the radon detection. Luckily the numbers are near zero. With the accuracy of the other sensors I have great faith in this accuracy as well. As for the hardware, it is quite compact. The screen is easily readable, think like a paper white style screen. The size is a little larger than a glasses case, about twice as wide. Very impressive for its size. Battery life is excellent and USB rechargeable. You can keep it plugged in and use as a hub. One oddity is outside temp has been very inaccurate, this is grabbed off wireless. The app is pretty straightforward and gives some other handy details at a glance, like allergy/pollen status.

I had a Radon test done when I moved into my home 10 years ago and I was thinking it's about time to have another. I started looking around and thought maybe I should have a monitor in my home instead of a one time test. It is so nice to have the peace of mind that Airthings offers. Setting this monitor up was a breeze. Of course download the app and follow the prompts. I put the batteries in and fully charged it. I will use the included cable to keep it plugged in but wanted to know how long the batteries will last on a wifi device. It has been a week and they are down to 97%. It will last months! My reading is just as low as it was when I moved in. I really like the fact that it continously monitors the air quality. The app even gives you daily, weekly, and monthly readings. The display is nice and simple, if you are away from home, it's very nice to be able to use the app to see what's going on at home. This model monitors Radon, humidity, and temperature. The design is pleasing and modern, I will mount it on the wall next to my smoke/co2 detector. If you want, it does stand up on its own to be set on a table. I would highly recommend getting one of these monitors for your own home.

I recently purchased a new home and during the inspection, mid to high radon levels were found in my basement. They weren’t quite high enough to require immediate radon mitigation but still raised some concern and this product helps me monitor those levels. On the front of the unit there’s an easy-to-read display that can show your radon level, temperature, as well as air quality and humidity. The display is pretty cool where they use an ePaper-like display akin to something like an Amazon Kindle where it has a ton of contrast and I’m sure that makes it more energy efficient as well. The nice thing about this sensor is that it’s a wifi connected sensor so you can also view your radon levels from the app including your radon level history over time which can be interesting to see the effects of doing such things as simply opening a window to see how radon levels may change. The app is designed very well and I was impressed with how easy it is to find information and everything is presented extremely well. You can also customize settings such as what is shown on the front of the display and also manage notifications for radon levels, humidity, as well as temperature. It can be powered by either USB or 6 AA batteries and the battery life is supposed to be up to 3 years. It comes with a USB cable it doesn’t come with a wall plug. For mounting options, you can simply just place it on any flat surface and it has a rubber coating on the bottom to prevent it from slipping around. Additionally, they include two pieces of double-sided tape to mount it to a wall or you can screw it into the wall using a removable back plate. The price is on the higher side though for this product but it’s also pretty polished including the app experience. I do think it would have been great if they could have included carbon dioxide detection with this model at this price vs the higher priced View Plus that has that feature but it’s $100 more (which also has Alexa and Google integration). Overall, quite pleased with this product and the information it delivers.

We've owned our home for over 10 years and have done radon tests when purchasing and had inconclusive results. I thought it would be a great idea if someone came out with a digital product that could accurately tell you how much radon is in the house at any given time. I'm so happy (and a bit frightened) Airthings has developed a consumer friendly, and Wi-Fi connected device that samples the air and gives you tangible results. Well, you won't get instant gratification out of it though, as it needs a week to calibrate its sensor to the ambient surroundings. And after its calibrated, you should get at least a month's worth of data before you take any action to mitigate or not. The unit is small and plain enough to be mistaken for a thermostat at first glance. Then you notice the e-ink display which saves battery, or batteries, 6 AA to be exact. Strange that they give you alkaline batteries, then supply you with a USB cable. Setup was quick once you get the app, get it connected to Wi-Fi, and set the region. It measures radon in picocuries per liter or pCi/L, sampling once per hour. Airthings also makes commercial units that use 4 sensors, sampling 4 times per hour, getting results much quicker. You can pass your hand across the face of the unit to trip the proximity sensor and a red, yellow, or green light above the display will indicate whether the current level is safe or not. That part is silly considering the screen is always on showing the current amount of concentration. Once you turn it on, it takes an hour to give the first reading which starts from zero and, in my case, climbs steadily. The level rises and falls depending on the time of day and whether or not the air handler is running. Sadly, the frightening part is that after a week, my average is above 4pCi/L and therefore in danger territory. It may have been this way for some time and we didn't grasp the scope of it. Needless to say, I will be investing in an active radon mitigation system in the near future. Airthings has a very unique and exclusive market with a product like this. Not only does it test radon levels, but you also get accurate humidity and temperature readings that are stored and accessed using the app. It stores over a year of information collected. The USB cable connects to the back of the unit and turns it into a hub for other Airthings devices which ties everything together. Using an e-ink screen allows them to use disposable batteries since you'd only need to charge once every 2 years, not much convenience there. Anything that allows you to observe potentially harmful things around you is a must have device. Upgrading from the View to the View Plus adds total VOC and Co2 measurements. Either one does the job and is worth having sooner than later.

Review for Airthings - View Radon Battery Wi-Fi Smart Radon/Humidity/Temperature Sensor - Matte White. This unit is easy to set up and easy to read. I know we had a radon test when we bought our house more than 25 years ago, so I was happy to find out that it was still not a problem by using this sensor. Living in New England, it’s easy to find houses built on ledge, with radon a real issue in need of mitigation. The EPA recommends mitigation when your radon levels exceed 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter), so it was nice to see that we were well below that. The Airthings app makes it easy to configure the display of the sensor. You can set it to display radon levels, but unless that’s an ongoing concerns for you - perhaps you want to monitor mitigation actions - I found that the unit can be set to display temperature and humidity levels - a useful day-to-day metric. When you wave your hand in front of the sensor a red, yellow, or green LED lets you know about overall air quality. The unit comes with simple setup instructions and can stand on a table or be hung on a wall with convenient, easy-to-remove Command adhesive pads.

Summary ------------- This is a good device to have at home especially in homes with basements because the radon gas is typically found in basement and it can rise up to the house. I was not able to positively test it because my rating on air quality has always been good on this device but it is a must have for homes with basements. At this price it is a good buy Pro ---- 1. 3 Year battery life 2. Looks small and decent, do not need to stick to wall 3. Can use the app to monitor air quality and alters 4. Provides historic data on air quality Cons ------ 1. No audible alert like a smoke alarm 2. Wish the display was more colorful. 3. Need to wait to find the instant air quality Build Quality ----------------- Simple white body with a display in the center. It does not have a color display but works well. The device takes 6x AA batteries which I think I am OK with since they last really long and no need to have lithium battery inside which you need to charge every 6 months. You need to download the airthings app to which you can pair the device and set it up. The airthings app can manage multiple devices. Usage -------- The device displays radon level, humidity and temperature. As per the manufacturer it may take about a week for the device to adjust to the environment. The device also has LED lights - red, green and amber to indicate the radon level upon waving. Now, you can get the actual readings on the LED or the App as well. Basically for the price I think this is a great device for your basement!!

As a homeowner and a dad, I've done the awkward little tent radon tests before. Especially if your lower level is a living space, or even more importantly if your family sleeps there, Radon is a potential hazard that is not seen, smelled, or sensed, without a test, or testing unit. After struggling to determine that my home was mostly Radon free, it still kept me up at night that there might be environmental things that affect how much Radon is in the air in my lower level. Having considered and purchased the Airthings non smart sensor, this calmed my fears, but didn't give me the full peace of mind I was seeking. In the days of smart homes and big data, Airthings has stepped up, and given us tracking, trends, and real time access to this info. I loved that the sensor has a small display and a sort of "thermostat" look to it, designed to be hung or mounted on the wall. The sensor has both bluetooth and wifi options for connecting remotely, or connecting it to your home network. Getting set up and running takes advantage of a QR code that can sometimes be problematic, but once youre there things seemed to work well. I was hoping there would be some ability to export the data, or control how long they keep the data for, but the dashboards are useful and color coded, with links to knowledge bases on issues if one arises. Overall this is well made, if a little on the pricey side, but does the job well, and keeps me at peace with my children living in lower level bedrooms.

The Airthings Wi-Fi Smart Radon Protector. measures Radon, room temperature, humidity, and airquality. The screen is an e-ink screen that should be familiar to those that use, have used, or have seen e-book reader. You can customize what sensors to display on the screen of the senor for the airthings app, and you can see detailed historical data from the airthings app. If you don’t have your phone around you’ll get a read out from the sensor relating to the metrics you set for the sensor to display, and if you want to know what the air quality is, just wave your hand and the sensor will tell you if air is good fair or poor. Set up was easy and took a few minutes. You have to download the airthings app and remove the plastic tab for the battery to power the sensor. I got this for the radon detection sensor first and the airquality sensor second. None of my smoke detectors in my home detects radon and I know of a few people that have gotten lung cancer because of Radon which is odorless, and colorless, and gets trapped indoors. It takes about 7 days for the sensor to get a baseline for the air quality in your home, but will take 30 days to get an accurate picture/full blown reading. For those of you that are concerned about Radon I would invest the money in this sensor and have the data at your fingertips to know if you need to invest in an air filter or what you can do to improve the air quality.
