Customers admire the AW3423DWF monitor's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and impressive HDR capabilities, frequently praising the OLED display and high refresh rate. However, some customers express concerns about potential burn-in and the relatively high price point. The lack of built-in speakers is also a recurring criticism. While some users report issues with dead pixels or ghosting, these appear to be less prevalent than positive feedback on image quality.

Still an Excellent Monitor in 2024

Purchased this monitor to replace an older IPS Ultrawide. The picture and colors are excellent. The stand it comes with is sturdy and has an excellent build quality, but I replaced that with a Dell MSA20 monitor arm which requires no extra adapters the monitor clips directly on to the arm. My monitor was purchased as a "Like New" open box from my local best buy and other than missing the oem cables was perfect. After six weeks my monitor formed some bubbles underneath the screen and the Dell warranty covered a replacement which arrived brand new from Dell. I can not speak to Dell covering burn in on Best Buy purchased AW3423DWF but they did cover my issue.
My biggest issue with this monitor is that the Alienware app being installed prevents the monitor from sleeping and automatic drivers being updated through windows 11 must be disabled or the app will reinstall constantly. The Dell Monitor Manager software works with this monitor without issue though it can not be used to control the LED of the monitor, that will have to be done through the OSD or install the Alienware app, set the LEDs and then uninstall it.
Other tips to help protect against burn in: set a moving wall paper with Wall Paper Engine, set windows to auto hide taskbar, and set windows to turn off display after a set time of inactivity(I use 15 minutes)
This is a great monitor at the price, it goes on sale from Best buy once or twice a month so wait for the sale price. The the picture quality will not disappoint!

Love it, was a little skeptical at first due to this version not having the nvidia gsync module but it exceeds my expectations, gsync compatibility does still work for nvidia users, and after some tweaking with HDR 1000 it’s perfect.

This monitor has been exactly what I was looking for. A great OLED Ultrawide monitor. I watched plenty of review videos before purchasing and many different reviewers gave this monitor the crown and I got it for a great deal on sale.

I have been very hesitant on purchasing this monitor, and finally pulled the trigger on a black friday sale. I got it for 730 and some change on a open box excellent status. I was feeling a lot of instant buyers remorse as soon as i got it. Then i plugged it in, and my god did all of that melt away. THis is by far the most beautiful display I have ever laid my eyes on. Absolutely worth the price- especially if you can get it below the 1100 dollar price tag. I believe i got it at a steal for under 800. If you are on the fence, let this be your message to go forward with it- you definitely wont be sorry.

These Ultra wide OLEDs just keep getting better and better. There’s no reason to not have OLED anymore when they are at this price you can’t beat it. The brightness for HDR content is great for my games that use it. The screen feels like the perfect size and this curve is optimal.

The Good and the Bad of the Alienware OLED

The Good:
This is by far the best monitor I’ve ever owned. The response time is extremely fast for all of my games, I def feel an advantage when playing competitive games. The black levels are unmatched. I game on PC. With PC, your system is only as good as the weakest part, this monitor keeps up with my powerful system. I’m telling you, as far as image quality and performance goes, you will not be disappointed.
The Bad:
The only downside I have is that, like all OLEDs, they have to be refreshed every 4 hours to prevent burn in. The refresh takes approximately 8 mins to complete, that can get annoying if you’re doing work on the pc, or gaming. Sometimes I forget to do it even with the annoying pop ups that come on the screen. But that’s just an issue with OLEDs in general, the performance you get from the monitor outweighs this one con in my opinion.

This monitor is excellent at what it is supposed to do, which is: Deliver ultrawide immersion while giving you a gorgeous HDR with true absolute blacks and popping colors.
The QD-OLED technology is definitely a step up from WOLED. Playing Cyberpunk 2077 on my C1 vs this monitor was noticeable. In fact it’s arguably rated as the current best OLED monitor at the market, and I’m not surprised one bit.
Here’s some take-aways,
Pros:
- QDOLED gets brighter than WOLED. HDR1000 has great brightness levels in peak highlights.
- Contrast is practically infinite thanks to OLED.
- Glossy finish makes the colors scream.
- 165hz for 3440x1440 is perfect. 4080/4090/7900XTX cards can push that resolution on ultra and utilize the refresh rate.
- 165hz 10 bit IS possible with a custom resolution (seek Reddit). Works flawlessly with VRR
- Freesync Pro is awesome and works well on any card.
- Instantaneous response rates thanks to OLED.
- No low frame rate ghosting, judder or overshoot (like some WOLED panels).
- Accurate color gamut out of the box.
Cons:
- Risk of burn in. This is easily avoidable. I’ve owned three OLEDs and never experienced burnin.
- No speakers, if you really care (I don’t).
- Okay SDR brightness (250 bits). I recommend Windows 11 in HDR mode all the time on HDR True Black and HDR1000 for gaming.
- Alienware monitor UI is.. okay. I love Alienware monitors but the UI has always been bleh.
Would I recommend it.. 10/10. Of course!

This monitor is absolutely nuts! Extreme clarity, great resolution and frame rate refresh for the best experience. Money well spent, and this is coming from someone who is skeptical of dell products!
Im constantly playing steam games on this monitor, im blown away every session.
The integrated cable management system is a nice touch, pixel refresh feature is nice as well.
The only con i have is i wish i got it in a bigger size.

First time using an OLED Monitor and it really makes a difference vs VA and IPS. I went through multiple of VA and IPS panels and the glow and bleeding is just there.
But this OLED Display does not have that issue at all. It is pure Black Beauty!
Only thing that annoys me is you have to refresh pixel to avoid burn in. Maybe I use it a couple of times a day but it will ask you to do it every 4 hours but that can be disabled which I did not do since I want to be reminded everytime. :)

I was going back and forth between this and the neo g9. I have not seen the g9 in person but i can tell you i do not regret going this direction. I remember the first time i watched an OLED tv and was truly amazed at the contrast. Once you go OLED its hard to watch anything else. I spent well over an hour just listening to music while playing with a plasma wallpaper i got from wallpaper engine. It truly is a spectacular piece of equipment. Especially at the holiday pricing.

The Dell AW3423DWF is an amazing PC gaming monitor that delivers outstanding picture quality, especially if you're using it in a dark room. Its QD-OLED panel produces better HDR performance than most monitors, but it doesn't get as bright as the Dell Alienware AW3423DW.

Honestly the best monitor i've ever used, I come from the Zowie world since I am global elite/faceit LVL 10 with 4,500 hours on CS:GO and can honestly say that the clarity of the OLED and response time was comparable and to me better than my Zowie XL2546K. This in conjunction with how great other games look and feel just put it over everything else on the market for me. I've been winning back to back Warzone lobbies, thank you Alienware!!

Amazing Monitor but buy direct from Dell

This is hands down one of the best upgrades I've made on my PC. This is a similar upgrade going from a disk based hard drive to a solid state drive. It's that drastic.
The viewing angles are amazing, the color representation will blow your mind. On scenes that have the monitor go black, you can't tell where the screen ends and the frame begins. It's awesome!
That being said, I wouldn't buy from Best Buy and would buy directly from Dell. I spoke with multiple people at Dell to confirm that this isn't covered by the same warranty. It does not have the Advance Exchange Service (even though the warranty term contract says it does) and it is not covered by the 3 year burn-in warranty.

If youre looking at this monitor BUY IT! It has absolutely beautiful 4k picture, and its the perfect size for your desk not small but not overly massive! I went through this and the Samsung Odyssey monitors. Had both for 1 year each. The alienware has by far in my opinion out done that monitor and for cheaper!! Definitely the best buy for my PC build!
