Excellent laptop, the 360 hz is quite noticeable on the screen. It has excellent performance. I compared it to a 2080 desktop pc and it beat with little difference in performance.

4.5 Stars. I almost didn’t pick this laptop because I’m not happy that you can’t upgrade the ram. DELL! MAKE THE RAM SWAPPABLE!! Why solder parts to the board? Seriously. Such an expensive, almost perfect piece of equipment missing something so basic. A simple change would easily make this beast 5/5. That being said, I paid a small fortune anyway for the M17 R4 because I loved everything else about it. And maybe on some level, I've always kinda dreamed of owning an Alienware. (Don't act like you haven't ever built your dream computer online, seen the price, and then immediately NOPE’d out of the website) I also had difficulty finding a 17” in stock right now of any decent brand with the specs I wanted. I decided on this one, and so far, I’m glad I did. First impressions are that I absolutely love this laptop. It has ran every game I’ve tried on ultra settings without breaking a sweat. The highest I’ve seen the temp so far while gaming is 80°c on the CPU. The thermals seem REALLY good to me. It has a big beautiful screen with thin bezels. I love the big keyboard with the num pad (thanks for that) and the rgb. I wish this came with the clicky cherry keys like those offered on the dell website, but oh well. I’m upgrading from an Acer Predator Helios 300 that I bought last year that critical error BSOD’d me a month out of warranty. (Stay away from Acer, never again.) Right now, it’s the most expensive paperweight I own. The M17 R4 is close to double the price I paid for the Predator, BUT it’s also double the fun! This thing just feels and looks quality. The speakers are (in my limited knowledge) probably the best I’ve ever heard on a laptop. They get pretty loud too! So far, overall, in the short time I have owned this, I am very happy with my purchase. TLDR; You can't upgrade or swap the RAM or WiFi card, which sucks. But, other than that, it's fantastic and I absolutely LOVE this laptop so far. It's expensive AF though, so don't make me regret my decision Dell!

This thing is a monster! Yes it's fast, yes it's colorful, and yes the screen is fantastic. I would have loved for the screen to be more then FHD, considering its raw power, but it's not like Alienware was hiding it. The major selling points for me are that, despite it's size, this machine is actually pretty thin, considering. Also, as with many Alienware/Dell machines, you can upgrade some components. I was able to add a second NVMe drive - and I believe there's a slot for one more! The Alienware Command Center is also a treat. Altogether, this gaming laptop is pretty awesome.

I admittedly do not know much about high-end computers, but even I can tell that this machine is best in class. I purchased an MSI “gaming laptop” shortly before but was deeply unimpressed; it didn’t perform or look as impressively as I’d hoped it would. This m17, by contrast is just awesome. It looks and performs as well as everyone describes. Everyday I discover new features and capabilities. I run all of my games on the highest settings now and according to the onboard Command Center, it’s not even breaking a sweat. You absolutely get what you pay for.

If you want to game, this system games. It is a portable desktop in my opinion due to its weight. Pairs to Oculus 2 easy if you’re into VR. Some people wish it had more ram but I have not seen a reason to need more but be advised that there are no ram slots, it’s all soldered on the motherboard. For what I need it’s awesome. Games take up lots of space so I’m thankful for the extra NVME m.2 slot for expanding my storage when the time comes.

This laptop is awesome, this is my second one and it is great. Form factor is thin and light for a 17” laptop. You will feel some heat but what would you expect from a gaming laptop with a 3070 inside. But considering what’s inside it’s pretty quiet. The games I play are, call of duty, anno 1800, world of warships and it has no problems even with the graphic cranked up. The only draw back was actually the buying experience. Went online and saw that if I purchased within a hour I could have it delivered next day… great!! Had the day off so this worked out, as the next day started moving into the next night I look and it updates saying it’s delayed?? When I went online to chat with support one person said it wasn’t going to arrive until the 3rd of june?! The next guy had no clue and was making statements that I knew were way wrong. It did show up the following day while I was at work and rather than return it to the fedex distribution hub … they left it on my porch!!! Every email said I would need to sign for it but nope … there it sat all day with a Alienware sticker for anyone to see. So … laptop 5 stars !! You won’t regret it Best Buy support 2 stars FedEx for leaving it without a signature -10 stars If your store has it in stock grab it otherwise go with instore pickup

This is a great laptop. Don't let the gamer description scare you away. This is a powerful laptop for all uses. The multi light keyboard and other personized options are pretty fun too; make it your own. Note, Aliens are known to run hot and this laptop is no exception. Don't let that worry you. It's designed to handle it just fine. I use mine for a minimum of 12 hours a day, all week long and it's not a problem. Enjoy the design, display, battery life, great audio, personalization options, etc.

there should be something between average(3 stars) and good (4 stars) rating. while i enjoy its style and user friendly alienware apps, there are many areas i have found lacking. screen is not brilliant with its dimmer brightness (only 300 nits something) and it has tendency to overheat when i play any AAA games. as a previous owner of ASUS laptop, i might be spoiled by its cooling system and excellent screen but i wished it has better screen and cooling.

Great for gaming. Graphics are beautiful, and the card is fast enough to handle everything I have thrown at it with ease. Frame rates are quite fast, even with hi quality display settings. It does get a little warm with intense use, but the fan is quiet, and not really noticeable. Good fit and finish. It also handles normal business and home software without a problem, as one would expect with a computer of this spec. Very pleased with my purchase, and would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

Great pc, fast and performs amazing. I bought an open-box certified and everything was pretty much brand new. Had a few sound and screen glitches at first but haven't had an issue since the first time i turned it on. Bought this specifically to play Valorant and I average around 250 fps which is amazing. The fan can be loud but when you're gaming with a headset you won't even hear it. The laptop gets warm but the fans are amazing at keeping the temp at high performance level.

I needed to replace an older i5 laptop, as I was doing a lot of video editing on the road. I know this is a gaming laptop, but it also does a great job editing video. I use Magic Vegas Pro with great results. I have used the software on my desktop, for years, and was originally concerned how it would work on the Alienware M17 R4. It was as fast if not faster than my i7 desktop. Also love the rapid startup of the computer, Turn it on and you are ready to go, in seconds.
