I am pleasantly surprised with the Echo Dot. Like any Echo devices, it's easy to setup and use. Truly a miniature version of the larger Echo devices. I cannot compare against Gen 1 or 2 but I'd imagine that there are improvements. If you have other Echo devices, the Dot is a great addition. If this is the only Echo devices that you own, it is equally good.The Dot is perfect for the bedroom, kitchen, basement, family room, or home office. Literally just about anywhere in your house. Working exactly like larger Echo devices, you can Alexa for a weather forecast, news update, time, play trivia, or interesting facts. The Dot can also be used as a bluetooth speaker. It is certainly not going to be as loud, offer better bass, mids/lows as a full fledged BT speaker or larger Echo but holds its own.TIP:Do you want louder and better sound quality? Pair a bluetooth speaker with the Dot or use connect a speaker using the AUX port located on the back of the Dot.If you have smart plugs, lights or other devices in your house, the Dot can control all of those. Placing the Dot on a night stand, you can ask Alexa to turn the table lamp on or off. I tested calling with the Echo Dot and it was good. The sound was clear and the person on the other end could clearly hear me. The Dot can stream Apple Music, Spotify, Tune-in, NPR, etc, and pair with another Dot for stereo sound.

Love this. My only complaint is sometimes it doesn’t do what I ask. I love how it links to other echos which means I can play music in all my rooms at the same time. It’s connected to all of my smart bulbs which makes it easy to turn on/off lights.

i use my alexa everyday and is super helpful! use it for timers, playing music, checking the weather, all kinds of stuff anf i dont even have to get up

I was really hesitant for a long time on getting one, I’m a google person but after getting one I feel like my life has been simplified almost ! Plus my wife and I made a bunch of hilarious talk backs ! Spent like 3 hrs just playing with it the first night ! And whenever I leave my house I feel support secure with the alarmed setting plus it plays sounds for my dog when I leave ! Honestly such a great investment.

The amazon echo is a great addition to your home if you are open to having mics listening in on your activities and conversations. I know some don't like that, but those who allow it will find great convenience in getting information about weather, movies, actors, jokes, and more. Plus, you'll be able to request music, and with a little effort in the app, you can have the same music playing via a group across multiple echos and fire sticks, giving you a great way to have a sonos-like environment. While the intelligence of the questions aren't up to par with Google's similar devices, the echo will suffice for most. Just don't expect it to answer complex questions, or provide extremely precise answers in all cases. And if you're a smart home user who likes to control lights, thermostats, etc., then the echo and its alexa app let you do lots of cool things, and even automate them with routines (e.g., say "goodnight" at the end of the day to turn off all the lights and lower the thermostat). What's especially nice is if you have multiple brands, the alexa app bridges that complexity so it all plays nicely together. Keep a spare echo ready in your music group and you can bring it outside on the deck on a nice day and have your music - and control of your music - at your side. Just wish they'd come out with a waterproof or outdoor version to have it out there all the time.

At first, I was reluctant to talk to a hockey puck. Okay so I am old fashioned. I use smart sockets in some areas in my home. I have them connected to my phone. But I found out you could program the Echo Dot to them. I have gotten used to talking to it. I now command it to turn on and turn off certain things around my home. You can command it to guard your home. You can ask where your orders are. If you say good morning it will give you information as to what happened on that date years ago. You can joke with it too. The things you can do with it are endless.

I use this echo dot in my bedroom for a backup for my older clock radio alarm clock. It does get loud so I set the volume on maximum to ensure that I can get up and it does a great job in doing so. You can set this to turn on and off smart items in your house as well such as smart light bulbs, audio equipment, and smart TV's. You can program it in tour settings to let you know what the weather forcast for the day is when you turn the alarm off. I hope this review hepl someone out.

I purchased the Ring Doorbell at Best Buy and the Echo Dot was included with the purchase. Thanks Best Buy! I love my Echo Dot! All you need to do is plug it in, get the app on your phone and follow the prompts. I ask Alexa silly questions, I ask her to play music, tell me jokes, set up my alarm, set up reminders, I ask for the weather, the time, etc. love it!

These Echoes are small but versatility and convenient. A nice feature is that with 2 of them you can link them as stereo speakers (just for streaming music services). I got one for free as part of a bundle with Echo Show and bought the second one for less than $25 so it was a great deal.

My third Echo Dot. Love having Alexa around to answer my questions, tell me about the weather, the news, play music, tell me when someone is at the door...only small gripe is that she should allow for some more time from when I say her name to when I ask her something. Recommended!

These are cool. I get a kick out of playing music in the kitchen when my hands are messy. I ha e it connected to my phone to play SiriusXM and Apple. Omg I love this thing! I got a holder from Amazon to hang it off of the outlet. It makes the speaker sound so Much better. I love this thing!! I know. I have a white also. Lolol.

Works great and very easy to set up and had no issues with it and very compact and loud for my music with good bass.

This was a gift for my granddaughter’s friend. He has MS and is confined in a wheelchair. He could use his arms a couple year’s ago, but only his fingers now. Echo has changed his life. He can talk on the phone and reach his family and friends. It was the best gift EVER.

It's a great product ..I love telling Alexa to set my alarm with music !! The sound quality is amazing for such a small device.. I love turning on the light in my bedroom with a simple voice command and saying to Alexa ..goodnight and the light turns off .. Love it !!! Great price as well

This version of the dot is the first one I would recommend to someone who is interested in a smart speaker but not willing to spend much. The biggest drawback to the previous generation was the sound quality/loudness. I use my echoes mostly for controlling connected devices and listening to podcasts, so I felt like the older echo dot was OK for most things I would require. But even for casual music listening, it wasn't up to snuff. The new one actually has bass and sounds good to me, but it's not going to sound like a Sonos or anything and I'm not an audiophile but I do think this will satisfy the majority of people's expectations for $50. I also have the $100 full size Echo from 2017 and the new echo dot has about 65% of the sound quality and loudness of that model vs the older dot having about 15% of the sound quality of the full size echo. I have been using this new dot for a few days without any issues. I love it and I think you should get one!

I purchased this generation echo to replace my first generation model. It was easy to setup and I love all the features on the app. The music quality is perfect on my desk while I am working. I use Alexa all the time to remind me of important dates. This is a really handy device to use. I even have smart home devices setup in my home that Alexa controls for me.

I LOVE THIS DEVICE ! This was my third Echo device (my second 3rd generation Echo) I received this Echo Dot (3rd Gen) as a free gift when I ordered my son's Fire TV and passed it on to him as well. My family enjoys them. We use it to play music, ask questions about the weather and local/national events, timers/alarms, making calls and sending messages, and controlling other devices, he has even added smart lighting and smart plugs to his room. Couldn't be happier!

I got 2 echo dots and i set alarms, reminders, listen to music and order stuff. Best thing ever invented, i also have Alexa linked to my sengled light bulb

I didn't think I'd like this. But the sound quality really isn't too bad, I have 2 set up in a group on my main PC for watching YouTube videos. The fact that there is a music quiz game (from Alexa, not the speaker itself) makes for fun family games nights. The sound quality for music is really subjective, true audiophiles will want to go elsewhere, but for general music parties with my wife, it's good.
