Good starter tablet for kids but clunky interface
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these tablets for my 3 sons ages 4, 5 and 7 due to the price, parental controls and most importantly the 2 year no questions asked warranty on returns. The tablets themselves are the full on base edition kindle fire hd's with the ability to use amazon's kindle fire free time to set up parameters around what content kids have access to and how long they can access different types of content. While I applaud amazon for putting so much control in the parent's hands I feel the interface could have been smoother. When inside the kid's mode there's no way to organize apps into different categories and there's no search function for finding new apps. Also the included memory is extremely limited as more than half of the on board 8gb is taken up by the system. Luckily there is a micro sd card slot which I recommend making use of as soon as you get the tablet out of the box otherwise your kids are likely to fill up the memory in about a day or two which all three of mine did. If you want your kids to have access to content that's in the amazon app store but not readily available through kids mode you have to download it from the adult profile then allow access for your kids. Again I feel there could have been a smoother way to accomplish giving my kids access to netflix. Once the tablets are up and running they do occasionally crash requiring a power down and restart. Otherwise my kids have been able to use them for hours at a time without issue and it is nice not to have to worry about them accessing inappropriate content.

Kids Love It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the FreeTime app. It's restricts the kids from browsing the web and only allowing them to play with pre-selected books/apps/videos. It has enough parental controls to let the parents choose additional content to that the kids are allowed to use. For instance, Candy Crush is not a game for kids by default in FreeTime, so I downloaded it with the parent's account, added it as an additional app for the kids to use in FreeTime and then the kids can install it on their account. While that's nice, it isn't without quirks. I assumed that once the parents loads an app and makes it available to the child, the child's account just loads the game from the local storage, it seems that the kids account downloads and installs a separate copy. So be ready to pick up a microSD card to allow more content. Several of the children's books have very small print and it's not easy to enlarge the print. Finally, the battery life seems a little short. None of these quirks will prevent me from picking up another one down the road.

great tablet for price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.great price for a started tablet. i bought two one for a 7 year old and the other for a 12 year old. we have dropped it and the child proof case has helped from cracking the screen, great for little hand and is very light weight. however there is not alot of built in memory space and when you add mini sd card to the device all of your fire tablets are snyc so they share memory space. the prime timefree time is also a joke for older kids my 12 year seems to big for those style apps and shows. but i can see my 7 year old getting a good year out of freetime.

Great Tablet for kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my Grandson who is two. The apps and games are exceptional. He is learning letters, numbers, shapes and colors. He is having fun and learning. Love that I can set the limits. We have downloaded books to read together and spend a lot of time together while exploring. Great tablet for a great price! A tablet that grows with him.

Great kids tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter loves this tablet. The only thing we don't like is that we can't get Google play so we had to repurchase some games. I really like the time limits. She has to read books for a while before she's allowed to play with other apps. I would recommend this to anyone with kids.

Great Tablet For Kids AND Parents
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great tablet and a great deal. It comes with one year free subscription and warranty. It's very durable for little hands. Travels well in the car and everywhere on the go. The camera isn't really very good quality and there isn't much room if your kid likes to take photos and videos. It's great you can auto upload them. Love the parental controls! Can limit or allow purchases and content/access. Just be careful your kid isn't watching when you unlock the device or make sure to use different passwords for different areas. My four year old learned to read the password upside down in no time and I was curious when stopped asking me to unlock. Didn't do great with at home Wi-Fi. Couldn't download multi items at same time. Often had to stop and restart, but I think that's our router. Didn't like that I couldn't block certain apps or types of apps from being shown/age appropriateness. Overall like and recommend. Biggest issue seems to take long time to charge. If don't have the charger that came with it It's even longer.

Great tablet for our 6 & 7 year olds
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Fire Kids Edition is an ideal tablet for our 6 and 7 year olds who love to play games and watch videos. The profiles were easy to establish, and I like that they have limited access to content, while we can still fully use the tablets for looking up information, books and movies using our parental profiles. The case is solid, and provides good protection for the tablet.

Great tablet for a 4 yr old
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an iPad before I got this tablet. My son had it for over 2 years, until the screen cracked. This tablet was a lot more economical then getting the screen fixed. Also the fact that it came with a case and a 2 yr warranty made it a no brainer. My son and I are very happy. I'm able to download the books , games and videos my son likes. This is a great product.

Excellent product for child
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this tablet for our daughter for christmas. It is such a great tablet for the price and for kids. I was nervous purchasing this as she is 8 and was worried that she would be too old. It can be used as a child tablet or as a regular fire tablet. She loves it. All the amazin free time games and videos help her feel like she can choose whatever she wants to do. I don't have to worry about what she is doing. Very happy with this purchase so far.

Don't pass this up! Perfect tablet for preschooler
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tablet in blue for my sons 4th birthday. I'm glad I did. After pouring over multiple reviews I didn't hesitate. The tablet is durable, my son dropped it the second day. It comes with Freetime for a year through Amazon. There is an unbelievable amount of apps to choose from. You can set up more than 1 user as well. I set it up for my son to use as well as me. In settings you can control the time the tablet can be used and set all parental controls. This is the first android device in our household. The rest are IOS products. Once you learn to navigate the tablet, it becomes second nature. Battery life is above par. When it runs low I charge it over night. I also recommend buying additional memory. I gave it four stars for charge time and limited memory on device

Awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter got this for Christmas I was a little skeptical I am a huge fan of Apple products. I am very impressed by the lightweight and durable casing. The picture on the screen is super clear and is extremely easy for my daughter to use. It fits in my purse easily to take places and I love the parent features limiting her use. I have been telling everyone I knowabout this product it's a definite by for any parent. I love the price could be easily replaced if something were to happen although it is already survived many drops, nicks, bruises, and two year old temper tantrums. The only thing I would rather have is a button for her to push to go back to the home screen rather than having to swipe up and hit the main screen although she's picking up how to use it fairly easily.

great tablet for kids!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 5 year old loves this tablet and it is very easy for her to use. Great screen size, not too small. Parental locks offer a lot of options. Only issue is that the parent screen pops up a lot (when you first turn it on, after using the camera) and it requires a password which can be frustrating for the child using. Overall a great purchase!

Perfect for my Grand baby!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading several reviews on the Fire Kids Edition Kindle I was convinced this would be perfect for my 3 yr old granddaughter. I was not disappointed! She was delighted with her tablet and she is able to use it easily. The pink bumper case is a great deal as well and I never have to worry about her dropping it! She had already dropped it and nothing happened to the tablet! Great buy for the money!

Product is very easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a Chritmas gift for 3 children 2, 4 & 6 all 3 of the children really like it and are able to use it. Their Mom loves the parent controls so that you can set how long the can play and at what time it will turn off. Definitely stops the arguing when it's time to turn them off for the night.

great for kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter had gone through 2 previous similar devices in under 2 years. I purchased this for all my children to share. It's great that it already has parental controls in place & automatically directs the children to something suitable for their age. With the protective casing & 2 year warranty, it was common sense to purchase this product instead of previous more costly.

Great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought for my 9 yr old son after his first kindle fire shattered the second time. The 2 yr no questions asked warranty is a plus. Though I didn't check to see if they would replace more than once! Would be nice if it included more memory, but at least this one has an sd slot

Great for kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little device is great. My kid has dropped a few times n still works fine. The apps and games in kids mode is perfect for my 2 yr old. Wouldn't recommend it for kids around 9 yrs old. Doesn't have google store apps are different but not a bad unit for the price.

Great tablet for my 7 year old.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device for my 7 year old. Love the bumper. She's dropped it twice and we've watched it literally bounce back up. Also, can't beat 1 year Amazon subscription for kids. She has access to a full library, apps, and educational videos. She asked for an iPad. Got her this instead. Hasn't touched the house iPad since she got her own tablet.
