This was purchased for my 3 year ild grand daughter. The tablet itself is light weight which is nice. The kids edition also comes with a case. The case us nice but won't protect from water. It's a foam case. I and her mother do wish it had a handle for carrying since children have smaller hands and iffy coordination. We also wish it had more internal memory however it is expandable with a micro SD card which does compensate for the tablet only having 8gb. Where this tablet really wins is that it come with a year of Amazon Underground which gives you access to hundreds of games for free, really free. Some of the games her mother download are apps you have to buy or have in app purchases but they are part of Amazon Underground and are completely free. (Make sure they are part of Underground, not all apps are. However there are tons.) The tablet has you set up an adult profile linked to your Amazon account and a seperately children's profile. In the children's profile you can choose and age range, set goals, and time limits. You can add apps to your child's profile easily through the adult profile settings menu but there are also hundreds of kid friendly educational apps, ebooks, and appisodes that can be download for free in the child's profile. It is easy to use and will grow with our grandaughter. It also comes with a 2 year warranty from Amazon. Sadly we did have to use this. Her mother suspects the tablet may have gotten wet. She isn't sure. However the exchange process was extremely easy. She called and the whole process took 15 minutes, including trouble shooting, hold times, and Amazon agreeing to ship a new device. She said it was completely no hassel. For your money this is probably the best tablet on the market for kids. They just need to rethink the case a bit.

This tablet is amazing. While designed for kids, the protective rubber case is good for anyone who may drop the tablet. Easy to use and take with you. Good for those read a lot and don't have storage space for books.

The Amazon Fire Kids Edition is proving to be a great addition to our home electronics collection. It keeps the children off of our phones and introduces them to a whole new safe learning environment that can be customized to their age and grow with them. It is very simple to set up and navigate my only wish for improvement would be for a better quality camera and perhaps outlet plugs to fit into the case to prevent toddlers from accidentally turning the device off or cranking up the volume. Overall a great buy and option for the $35 door buster sale on Thanksgiving.

My 8 year old loves it. Great entertainment, ok educational tool....jury still out on that. Easy to use, intuitive, very good parental controls.

My daughter loves her kindle! Now she can play all those games and watch YouTube on her own device. I finally got my phone and kindle back! The year free kids time is a great plus she can now watch her favorite tv shows too. She finally is interested in reading at home w her new kindle! A definite must have unlike other children's tablets this one she will never out grow because it is just like mine w added parental guards while she is still under aged but can be changed as she grows older. This is a great long term purchase well worth the money a definite investment!

I bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter and she loves it. Easy for her to navigate plus I can use it also. Our profiles are completely separate. This is a great product at a reasonable price for a 3-6 year old.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY MOM SO THAT SHE COULD PLAY GAMES AND WATCH MOVIES, ETC. I BOUGHT THE KIDS' KINDLE BECAUSE OF THE EASE OF USE AND THE BUMPERS FOR ADDED PROTECTION. MY MOM HAS BEEN KNOWN TO DROP A FEW THINGS, BUT SHE LOVES TO PLAY SOLITAIRE AND SCRABBLE. THIS IS PERFECT FOR HER. THE SCREEN RESOLUTION IS AMAZING, THERE ARE PLENTY OF DIFFERENT GAMES AND IT IS SO EASY FOR HER TO USE! IT'S SMALL ENOUGH TO CARRY ANYWHERE AND THE CHARGE LASTS A REALLY LONG TIME. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST GIFTS THAT I HAVE EVER GIVEN HER. SHE LOVES IT!! I WANT ONE FOR MYSELF NOW!!

Got two of these for my two kids ages 2 & 3. They work well for the price but make sure you buy atleast an additional 32 gig of memory. The unit only comes with 8 gigs and 2/3rds of that is used by the operating system. I'm used to apple products so it's taking me a little bit to figure out the ins and outs of this device. Over all I would rate it as average but for the cost and warranty it was worth it.

I spent a couple of weeks searching reviews. This had the best battery life and best warranty. Bought it for my 5 year old grandson. He LOVES this thing and I set it up in mere minutes. My ONLY complaint? This advertises like it is SETUP for kids. It isn't. It is a Amazon Fire. Adult geared. The tough case is great and the only thing that is geared towards kids. You have to setup the adult profile and then the child profile with parental controls. Other than that it is fabulous. Lots of kid geared apps.

This is a great tablet and a great deal. It comes with one year free subscription and warranty. It's very durable for little hands. Travels well in the car and everywhere on the go. The camera isn't really very good quality and there isn't much room if your kid likes to take photos and videos. It's great you can auto upload them. Love the parental controls! Can limit or allow purchases and content/access. Just be careful your kid isn't watching when you unlock the device or make sure to use different passwords for different areas. My four year old learned to read the password upside down in no time and I was curious when stopped asking me to unlock. Didn't do great with at home Wi-Fi. Couldn't download multi items at same time. Often had to stop and restart, but I think that's our router. Didn't like that I couldn't block certain apps or types of apps from being shown/age appropriateness. Overall like and recommend. Biggest issue seems to take long time to charge. If don't have the charger that came with it It's even longer.

We bought this tablet for our daughter for christmas. It is such a great tablet for the price and for kids. I was nervous purchasing this as she is 8 and was worried that she would be too old. It can be used as a child tablet or as a regular fire tablet. She loves it. All the amazin free time games and videos help her feel like she can choose whatever she wants to do. I don't have to worry about what she is doing. Very happy with this purchase so far.

at first i was hesitant, but am satisfied with my choice. i bought 3 of them for each one of my boys ages, 7,6,3 and they all loved them. the main purpose was to have something to do on our road trip across country. they were easy to set up, downloading movies did take forever, but once everything was set up, it was a breeze for the kids to navigate.

The tablet came with the free software that she has access to which allows my daughter to download apps that she will play with. I have it locked out for her to be able to purchase any items accidentally. The one feature that was part of the package is the parental controls. It allows you to allocate time for various activities for reading or playing games. When the limits are reached it doesn't allow the tablet to be used further. you can set start and stop times during the day and etc. The rubberized case is great in case the little one drops the tablet. There is a free replacement policy if it breaks while in the case. My only complaint is the battery time per charge is kind of short. I am sure it is because she is using the apps which uses a lot of screen power/time.

My daughter got this for Christmas I was a little skeptical I am a huge fan of Apple products. I am very impressed by the lightweight and durable casing. The picture on the screen is super clear and is extremely easy for my daughter to use. It fits in my purse easily to take places and I love the parent features limiting her use. I have been telling everyone I knowabout this product it's a definite by for any parent. I love the price could be easily replaced if something were to happen although it is already survived many drops, nicks, bruises, and two year old temper tantrums. The only thing I would rather have is a button for her to push to go back to the home screen rather than having to swipe up and hit the main screen although she's picking up how to use it fairly easily.

This tablet helps my step son tremendously when it's time to wind down for the night for bed. It also keeps him occupied when there is something that I need to get done but am unable to keep an eye on him for those few minutes. I know that when I put this in his lap, that's where he'll be for the next hour. He's grasped his colors and numbers a lot better since using this too. It was worth every penny.

My 21/2 year old granddaughter caught on immediately, loves to play the games on freetime. Only problem is that it tends to lock up if I don't back out of a game before she switches to another and leaves too many running at the same time.

We got this for our 3 year old, primarily for use while travelling and in certain situations like Dr. appts etc. My only complaint is the ability that he has to download additional content and alter (remove from device or remove from his "carousel") the currently installed items. If he just starts randomly pressing buttons, he frequently accidentally changes the content that is available to him. He is not able to access purchased apps or anything like that, so that is beneficial. We are able to have multiple user accounts set up on the device and the parent profile is only accessible with a password. Upon reading others reviews, I did notice many complaints of lack of space and so I purchased an SD card with additional storage and have the setup so that any apps that can be saved to the SD card are, so space has not really been an issue for us, however without the additional memory space, I do see that it would have been a HUGE issue as there is very little memory able to be utilized. This product has been a lifesaver for us!

My daughter had gone through 2 previous similar devices in under 2 years. I purchased this for all my children to share. It's great that it already has parental controls in place & automatically directs the children to something suitable for their age. With the protective casing & 2 year warranty, it was common sense to purchase this product instead of previous more costly.

Actually bought this for our son, who is just over 2yrs old. He is able to navigate to what he wants to, loves the built in apps/games. Just wish it came with more memory...and didn't have to purchase videos to download , so he can watch when not connected to wifi. (or would be 5 stars)
