I imagine this would also go a long way for the visual artist, but as a screen writer and prolific reader i'm blown away! The refresh rate, pen function, organization, and overall improved e-reader functionality is to die for. I use it every day and can happily say. I got rid of my paper-white it was nothing.

The hardware is there. The features are not. Inability to use Scribd. Inability to directly write on books within library (that should have been feature #1). The list could go on and on.

Great for reading books and note taking. Easy writer and it feels almost like writing on paper. I use it to take notes at work and it works great. One thing I would say is that once you add the case it gets a bit heavy but nothing too crazy. Battery life is amazing, I've only charged it on the first day and almost 2 weeks into it the battery is at 48%. My only gripe is when transferring PDFs could be pretty confusing and frustrating at times. I don't know if I'm missing something but I can't seem to find how to put in on landscape mode to read while placing it horizontally on the case. Love the fact that I can't "squirrel" into the internet and keeps me focused with the notes and the reading. So far pretty satisfied.

    Kindle Scribe: A Balanced Overview

Overall, it is a decent product, better for reading than writing notes. The ability to take handwritten notes for ePub (or any ebook format that Amazon uses) and any format other than PDF is very limited. Even when the option to take a handwritten note is available, it affords you only a small space to write, which is ideal for a few words at most. It becomes increasingly difficult to write smaller or more densely when the pen tip begins to dull, which happens more quickly than you might expect. The pen has a specific curvature and an optimal position when held, which ironically leads to the tip losing its accuracy even faster. To maintain accuracy, you should plan to replace the tip every two weeks, especially if, like me, you write about four pages per day. Unfortunately, there's no way to customize the wallpaper when the tablet is in sleep mode, or to extend the 10-minute auto sleep feature. When it comes to organizing notes, the tools provided are very basic. However, the writing tools are quite good. The selection of pens, deletion options and the eraser at the end of the pen are all nice features. Reading on this device is quite enjoyable, particularly for eBooks. For PDFs, the experience is hit-or-miss. If your PDF has wide margins, there's no feature to crop them, and landscape mode is simply terrible. Landscape mode for PDF viewing is poor for several reasons: you have to scroll to reach the bottom of the page (which then auto-scrolls to the top of the next one); the scrolling function is slow and often causes me to lose my place in the text; and the screen often switches to other pages accidentally. These issues disrupt focus and page positioning about 20% of the time. Interestingly, the backlight feature turned out to be more important than I thought. I'm not normally a fan of backlights, but even having it on low (about 5 out of 25) in a well-lit room makes reading more enjoyable. General e-ink doesn't quite replicate the contrast of paper, resulting in a slightly darker background. The dictionary feature is excellent, functioning well across all document formats. The device is also highly responsive. In summation, the hardware is sound, but the software is lacking when it comes to writing. It doesn't properly utilize the screen or enhance the experience of reading PDFs. For comparison, my Sony PRS-T2 from 2012 has superior PDF reading software, as it can convert each page into adjustable text, despite being very slow. In any case, I hope this review helps with your decision-making process. Keep in mind most of the problems stem from a lack of software features. While it's possible for Amazon to remedy these issues in the future, it remains a gamble. There are numerous alternatives available. P.S. The device is a little bit heavy for reading comfortably in bed.

I used to think that Kindle was boring and dull, until I met the Kindle Scribe. It was love at first write. It let me take notes, annotate PDFs, and draw like a pro. It felt like writing on paper, but better. It had a large screen, a lot of storage, and a pen that never ran out of ink. It was perfect for my masteral studies, where I had to read a lot of books and papers. The Kindle Scribe was not just a device, it was my companion. It made reading fun and easy. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I really enjoy the bigger screen for reading and I love being able to take notes. I am impressed with how smooth my hand written notes are on this and the battery life is impressively long. My only con is that it is much heavier than any of the other Kindles I have owned and it is a bit hard/awkward to read when lying in bed because of this.

I did a lot of research before purchasing the Scribe. I was seriously considering other e-readers with pen abilities (like the Onyx brand). Many online reviewers were mixed and I felt the best way to experience was to go ahead and get one for myself. And I am really glad that I did. The Scribe is great as an e-reader. The 300ppi screen is amazing, better then Onyx’s 227 for their Note Air series. Reading books have been a joy on this. Yes, you are locked in to the Amazon eco system but their bookstore is vast compared to others. The response time and refresh rate is so quick on this. I understand why many reviewers disliked the inability to write up books, but that is a feature you can’t do on any Amazon ebook (if I’m mistaken). The little note tab indicating you have a note on it is fine for me. Note taking is still a learning curve. The templates are more than enough, and writing is such a joy. The pen feels great in the hand, and with the premium pen, erasing is just as fun. Sending pdf files to the Kindle’s email is easy and your file shows up in the library. Marking those up is a breeze, and again, that 300ppi screen really makes a difference. I ended up getting the 32gb version. It went on sale the week after we I bought it, BB did a price match, and that extra money I ended up using on purchasing the denim cover. The cover is absolutely needed with this because holding it by itself is a risky thing. It is slippery and you don’t want to damage it. Overall, this is a great device. It is my primary e-reader now (my daughter now uses my Paperwhite 11th edition) and note taking device.

This thing is awesome. I bought one for my wife because she is a reader and note taker. After playing with hers I had to get myself one. She loves it for reading and says the size is perfect. I don't read at all but I do take a little of notes. Writing on this thing is so good. It's like paper but you can make folders and files and organize everything. It's light and thin. The battery lasts forever and with a cheap case from Amazon it's really a slick device. I have a lot of tablets laptops and phones and this has got to be one of my favorite devices because it's so different.

Best Amazon Kindle Device Yet! Love It!

Best Amazon Kindle device yet! Trust me, it is well worth the money! I thought it was just a larger size Kindle and that I would not really use the Notebook features that much...WRONG! I use the Notebook feature all the time to take notes, mark-up PDFs, Journal, and oh yah..also read books! I love the fact that you can highlight passages within documents/books and bookmark important notes or pages and easily get back to them for reference, I also love that with the larger screen, it is way easier to shop the Kindle Bookstore and downloads are lightning fast with this device so no more waiting around. Love it! The user-interface is super intuitive and easy to use. Navigating around the different functions is a breeze. I also love that my eye strain at night is greatly reduced as it has a night mode that warms the light to reduce eye strain which helps me get to sleep sooner after I stop reading at night.

Used to read on the Kindle app for iPad, however terrible sun glare made reading impossible during the day, especially outside. This device with its special screen does not reflect the sun and allows me to read in any condition. The backlight feature also allows reading at night. This light does shorten battery life, but I have been reading for 2 weeks and still don't need to recharge the device. The writing seems more of a gimmick to me at this point, but it has become useful to replace paper, especially things like shopping lists for me as I use this instead now. The writing is very responsive and feels fantastic, almost just like paper and pen. Only knock I have is ability to connect to internet and download things like PDFs for use when I'm doing research at school, which would be a great addition.

The Kindle Scribe has been a fantastic purchase! My wife absolutely loves it and uses it every single day in her job as a teacher in the school system. It's lightweight, easy to use, and has completely transformed how she takes notes during meetings and plans her lessons. She also brings it to church every Sunday to take notes during sermons, and she says it's the perfect tool for staying organized and engaged. The writing experience feels natural, and the battery life is incredible. This device is a game-changer for anyone who loves to read, write, and stay productive. Highly recommend!

Overall reading and writing on the Kindle Scribe is very pleasant. Its super useful having a big screen to read on for tons of room for the text. Using the pen it comes with is so nice to write journals or take some good notes on. It feels very realistic and it was very kind of Amazon to include extra pencil tips so it doesnt ruin the experience over time of use. The battery life on this thing lasts ages and recharging it is super efficient. I love how lightweight it is even though it has a larger footprint. Overall its an amazing product.

The Scribe is a fantastic product. I have never had a Kindle before so I am new to the experience. I got it for the note taking experience as much as for the book experience. I read a lot of reviews before I bought this and agree with most that the note taking experience is pretty basic and rudimentary, but that’s all I was looking for. You can buy templates for various planners, calendars, etc. through Etsy so it expands this functionality some. On the reading side it is a great device for books. It’s so nice to have seemingly unlimited books on a small device. I was able to upload some PDF textbooks to it and it was nice to have multiple large books that I can easily have with me. The process to upload things is not intuitive but not really difficult either. The battery lasts forever on this thing. I have had it for several weeks now and I have still not charged it from the original charge it was at from the store. The stand by time is amazing. It seems to not use battery at all in stand by mode. I have left it unused for a week and it did not lose any battery power. All in all the device is expensive and you have to really want the note taking capability but it is a great device if you can afford the extra premium.

I carry this everywhere I go, it makes life and organization so much easier! I also use it to take notes in meetings, school, and create to do lists. I also love reading books on here and then seeing everything I highlighted and took notes on all together in one place! I’m actually a college student and decided to finance my kindle with my Best Buy credit card. And I love it so much I then got my sister, who is also in college, one. And it’s been helping my credit score as I’ve been paying it off which is so great!

I love this! Of course, it has books like all Kindles, but the notes are great. I use this for work as a teacher all the time! You can send any PDF to it and it stores it as a book so I can store my lesson plans, rosters etc. This also would have been amazing to have when I was in college. Being able to take notes in your books would have been so helpful. I have friends with the remarkable but honestly the fact that you can read and take notes in the books makes this better at least for what I use it for and it's more affordable.
