Excellent CPU for a small office server

The Ryzen 5 3500 is an excellent CPU for a small office server. For anything except games, no Intel CPU can touch this thing at this price. And even if I were building a budget-ish gaming PC, I'd still go for this or similar AMD cpu, unless you KNEW the only thing you'd do with it is game.

The 3600 is possibly the best value CPU that you can currently buy, as of August 2020. 6 Cores, 12 Threads, excellent performance for under $200. Pair this with a B450 and 16GB of high speed RAM, and you've got a machine you won't need to upgrade for some time. Highly recommended for anyone building their first PC, even if you'll potentially upgrade to a 4000 Series.

This processor with the Asus x570, the fastest RAM you can afford, or get a deal on decent freq ram and tweak your bios till it puts out what you want it to. This CPU has been great so far. I suppose I have what one would call a gaming rig, however that is barely what it is used for. I run several virtual machines and still have plenty of power to be productive in main machine simultaneously. No complaints here. Would recommend. Although now, late October, id wait for a sale, or for prices to drop and maybe grab the Ryzen 7 for the same cost. If not possible, I'd still recommend this chip, and I've been an Intel guy since I was baby slamming on keys.

You can’t go wrong picking this processor if you’re primarily gaming. Hands down the most Fantastic performance for the money. That’s not a discredit either, the 3600 rivals much more expensive processors. I’ve dropped this into my main gaming machine, system has 3600 memory, GTX 1080ti and everything is super buttery smooth on the 32” 1440p 144hz display. Fast FPS in everything. No frame drops or volatility. The chip is super efficient as well and stays cool. I was able to drop the voltage and maintain 4.25ghz all cores with idle temps at 95 degrees and max 115 degrees under heavy load for hours (using a 360mm). If you’re gaming this is your Best choice. Use the funds to upgrade another component in your build. I was able to get this running on a crosshair vii Hero x470 after bios update with zero problems. Great value over the X570 options and VRM supports OC well.

If you want a fast CPU, whether for gaming and light loads of editing, this is the one to get. 3600X is a great CPU, but truthfully, @ 200Hz+, you won't see much difference in real world tasks. If one is going to pay $50 extra for the X variant, may as well skip that and pay a little extra for the 3700X IMO. But straight gaming, this will do JUST fine!

Great cpu for what I’m using it for, gaming, 3d modeling, and school work. Price is great too as long as you can find it at msrp. Stock cooler kinda sucks and my idle temps are like at 50c which is terrible but that’s probably my fault for installing it poorly. I’m getting a new cooler anyways so I’m not too concerned.

Love this lil dude. Reasonable price and has delivered great speed all things considered. I get quick builds on my Unity projects and good performance in games.
The only downside is the CPU cooler that it comes with is quite noisy under sustained load. Would probably spring for a higher quality one to make my whole rig quieter.

I built multiple PCs using this processor and it is amazing. First off it is at a good price for what it does. It can handle anything from video editing to gaming, even 4k if you have a good GPU. Overall, this processor outperforms its intel counterparts and is cheaper than them and I would buy it again if I have to!

Well priced for the quality of the processor, pretty easy to install for people new to buliding pcs. As far as I know there seems like there are alot of motherboards that support this processor straight out of the box. One thing thats kind of awkward is the instructions come with instruction for multiply fans, but just matching the image with the image in the instruction and you should be good to go.

This little beast of a cpu is all the majority of gamers need. At $200 with 6c/12t and plenty of budget motherboard options (sun $100) you can build all the rig you want for the price of the CPU you think you need. Save some of that hard earned money for the GPU your going to have to pay double for...

I am an Intel person having always owned Intels... but AMD Ryzen is absolute king. They're destroying Intel in terms of pricing, and the performance is simply insane for what you're paying. AMDs are no longer the power hungry and hot chips that they used to be.

Paired this with a RTX 2060 Super and it crushes every game I have. I recommend not staying with the stock fan that comes with it. A nice Arctic Freezer 34 and it’s running 10 degrees cooler even when boosting.
CPU is worth every penny.

For most people this should be the default choice for a processor in this generation for mixed workloads. It has wide compatibility among most AM4 socket motherboards assuming the bios is up to date also not super picky about DDR4 ram.
The performance is very impressive without caveat in both single and multi-threaded workloads and requires basically no tweaking since it is already highly optimized under its different boost algorithms.
The included cooler provides adequate cooling and quiet enough for most.
Considering the generally lower platform cost (if you choose a 3 or 4 series motherboard) and decent included cooler it is the current gen value champ of 2019.

For the price you can't do much better. Probably the best CPU cost to performance wise. Yes you could get something like the 3700x, but unless you are using programs that can take advantage of the threads, go with this one.

Built my first computer and I’m very pleased with this cpu. It is extremely fast right out of the box and performs well under load. I also felt it was a great value for its cost to performance ratio. I may be new to the pc building world, but I think this is a great processor.

For $200 you’re getting a solid performer in the the 3600. It’s a no brainer if your on a budget. Great for gaming, streaming while gaming, video/photo editing, etc.
I have it in my rig with an rtx 2070 and it feeds that gpu with no problems. My min frames and avg frames per second saw significant improvements over my old r5 1600. Overall, it’s a much smoother experience and well worth the $200 bucks.
If you are upgrading and using a b350/x370 or b450/x470 motherboard, please be sure to check the manufacturer site for a bios update before you try to add your cpu in. It needs to update in order to recognize the new ryzen 3000 series. After I did that, I had no issues. Just plopped it in and had a smooth experience on my msi b350m gaming pro mobo, but please google your mobo model to check for compatibility issues beforehand. Always best to check first because some mobos do have compatibility issues.

This processor is so much better than I even expected. I highly recommend it. If you're considering a Ryzen, this is a perfect compromise between the 3 and the 7. The price point makes it a great value and it performs very well compared to everything else in the same bracket.

I stuck with my Q9650 for so long. Socket 775 was good to me, but the government sent me that stimulus and I figured it was high time to move forward.
A lot has changed in a twelve years. I built my last PC before my daughters were in school, and now I have one in high school already. My internet went from 10mb to 400mb... 8GB DDR2 800, now 64GB DDR4 3200... Q9650, Ryzen 5 3600... Radeon 4850, now a GTX 1660...
My 775 was a good girl, and will continue on as a terminal and occasional server when my brother and I want to build an ARK thing.
