I was an AMD guy 10 years ago and eventually migrated to Intel for gaming. Well... after rave reviews, I tried AMD again and have not been disappointed. While Intel's 9700k and 9900k out performed this CPU in over all FPS, it was typically only by single digits in most games. In Cinebench r20, my 3700x out scored my friends 9900k in multi-core processing power. That result isn't typical, but it shows how close these chips really are, and the 3700x is available at a much lower price point. But... what does that mean to you? Overall this means that Intel chips are slightly better for just gaming today but if you do just about anything else in addition to gaming or other than gaming... You should really consider AMD and it's new line of processors unless you're willing to pay the premium for Intel's 9900k for extremely small gains.

This is for the AMD Ryzen 7 3700 X 65 watt 8 core 3.6 Ghz CPU. First of all I am not sure why they rate it at 3.6 Ghz as it will boost to 4.4 Ghz for a short duration and then settle in at a constant 4.1 to 4.27 depending on your board and how agressively you set the boost level in the BIOS. I got it to run at almost 4.4 under constant boost, but it crashed after a restart and when I tried to go higher than 4.4 it won't boot. I am not the greatest overclocker, but my experience has been the normal for many review sites who are expert overclockers. The concensus is that AMD built this to come out of the box with all guns blazing and the fact that it is a 65 watt CPU doesn't give it as much overhead as a 105 watt Ryzen. Note: it is rated at 65 watt TDP, but that is at 3.6 Ghz. When running a brutal stress test such as Furmarks CPU Burner it will pull 11 plus watts per core and a total of as much as 111 watts for the whole package. Thus the reason that it has such a high sustained boost, is that AMD has given it the fuel it needs to do that, and therefore trying to overclock this fast out the gate horse is really not going to be worth the effort. Having said that it is an economically efficient CPU. Under normal production usage it constantly pegs needed cores at 4.4 Ghz while pulling about 50-55 watts and will run at about 30 watts under light usage. With that said it is a strong performer. I bought it because I need all the speed I can get out of Photoshop and it delivers. I paired it with an X570 board with a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 M.2, 512 GB PCIe 3.0 M.2, two 1 TB SATA SSDs,three 4TB HDDS and 3 external drive HDDs. I have 32 GBs of DDR4 3200 RAM, an RTX 2060 Super and a 750 Watt Bronze 80 Power Supply. For those who only have one 8 Pin CPU power cable on your PS, don't worry about X570 boards having an 8 pin and 4 pin CPU plug. It runs just fine with just the 8 pin plug. I didn't try the Wraith heatsink. I installed a 240mm AIO liquid cooler. I have it in a well ventilated case that is in a compartment in my work desk and it runs at 40 degrees C at idle, about 55 in Photoshop. It holds 63 degrees C in Prime 95 and 70 degrees C in Furmarks CPU Burner. How does it perform? I have a unit with an i7 9700 with 32 GBs of RAM and an RTX 2080 Super. Running Puget Systems Photoshop benchmark test it posts an average score of 860 points. I pulled the 2080 out of it and put it in the new build with the Ryzen 3700 X as GPU performance influences the test. I need to note that the PCie 4.0 capability of the 3700 X with my PCIe 4.0 M.2 and the X570 board registers a 5500 MB/s SSD read speed vs the 3300 MB/s read of the PCIe 3.0 of the i7 system and that probably had some benefit. Running the same Puget Systems benchmark the Ryzen 3700 X system scored 967 points. This is the most responsive system that I have had to date. My previous systems have been an i7 6700K and an i7 9700. So I think that this is a great bang for buck CPU, especially if you are willing to use the included Wraith Cooler, but I think in order to really get the full advantage of the 3700 X you need to leverage all of it's potential by putting it on an X570 board with a PCIe 4.0 M.2.

This was a huge upgrade for my setup! I upgraded from AMD FX-8350 and I have noticed such a different just in a day! There was a running joke in our house that my computer was preparing for takeoff because it was SO LOUD every time I used it. The stock fan that comes with this is amazing and everything is running SO much smoother now. Also much more affordable than Intel.

Really great processor it doubled the cores of my old ryzen 5 1400 and was a lot less picky with ram was able to use the xmp of the ram with no issue the price was good on cyber monday and black Friday. A pro tip though you can use the 3 pin usb included cable on the prism cooler to set the colors you want on the rgb once u install the software when u download the cooler master software the prism cooler will remember what you set even if u unplug the cable after then u can remove the cable and free up your use header on your motherboard to use for an actual usb front panel again or for whatever else your system needs.

I upgraded from an old i5-6500, and I am speechless! Going from 4 cores 4 threads to 8 cores and 16 threads is just amazing! I am definitely keeping this CPU for 4+ years and no reason to upgrade any time soon. Additionally, the price to performance ratio for the 3700X is awesome compared to Intel's offerings. I feel like the sky is the limit. Don't forget, it comes with a beautiful RGB cooler in the box.

I hadn't used AMD since 1999 because at the time the only way to get power out of these processors was over-clock and cool to death. I decided to give them a shot on building a rig because the price was just so irresistible. Let me tell you, this is what computing should be. This little bugger handles my 3d programming, and gaming like a champ. Bye, Bye Team Blue.

This CPU is running everything great! It is running really well and even over locked to 3900 MHz and ran well with no issues (I only did it for about 1hr and went back to 3700 as I don’t need it overclocked Like that right now). Installation was simple as well and the brackets made easy install for the cooler.

This is great for gaming. I use this in my personal rig paired with a GTX 1080TI and a 144HZ monitor. The processor rarely gets to 50% usage with high frame rate. No bottleneck with the CPU here. It mostly boosts to 4.24 GHZ in most games. But can be higher. The included cooler does it job. Although the paste that came on it was already dried out. So I had to apply freash paste. No problem for me

You can not beat this processor for the price let alone performance wise. Ryzen has really topped the cake with this generation of processors. Precision Boost Overdrive on Auto. Overclocks all cores to 4.325Ghz. Super fast! Super reliable!

I went from the Ryzen 5 2600 to this Ryzen 7 3700x and wow... I’m speechless. Everything is way faster. Clicking from window to window now and streaming is a breeze. I stream and play heavy load games and still maintain 150-170 FPS with my 3060 Ti. I would recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade without wanting to break the bank.

an absolute power house CPU. Put it this way I stream to twitch and play high triple A games. This cpu core count and threads makes it possible to play my games on epic settings all while out putting out 1080p60fps to twitch with no issue. My stream software never goes over 4% which blows my mind. Amd really did it. This is the only CPU I would recommend to anyone.

Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2400G that was bottlenecking my Vega 56. Not only does the 3700X perform significantly better with it's higher clocks and 8 cores/16 threads, it has unlocked the full potential of my GPU; netting a good 30+% increase in FPS in most of the games I play. Idle temp is around 50-55°c which is a little higher than my previous CPU but it maxes out around 85 under heavy load. Well within spec, and about the best I can expect in an NFC S4M build. So far as I am quite happy with this CPU. The only issues I've had are with the BIOS for my ASRock AB350 itx. Also, I had to contact Best Buy to get the free game code emailed to me.

I did not go for the 12 core 24 thread. I wanted to upgrade from my 7700k that could handle Visual Basic, Python, Unity, and Java coding. On top of that I do game a lot on my PC plus do some video editing. This was the best bang for my money, and being able to reduce the price by another $40 using my rewards points made this CPU under $299 and that helped me pull the trigger. I paired it with the Aorus Master X570 motherboard and 3600 DDR4 CL16 ram. Temps and speed have been great using out of the box configurations for the CPU. It has been performing flawlessly in all my activities, gaming, production, and general use.

Put this in a Dan A4 case, runs no more than 80c after 20min of Prime95 even in that extremely cooling restricted environment. The performance vs price reminds me of the old 2600+ days when AMD was laughing at Intel. Huzzah!

I dont do to much gaming more of an enthusiast with tinkering and what not. I do a lot of 3D printing and the slicer actually uses some cpu horsepower, but with this just switching fr4om one printer profile to the next is seamless and instant with my old pc it took from 2-3 minutes and this thing just swaps like its a little kb file. Love it haven't even broken a sweat yet now, and its so much faster than my FX cpu. Just a gotta HAVE!!!

I love this CPU. Its does what I need it to such as gaming and streaming as well as recording at the same time, while running a minecraft server. Its a great work house. I give it only 4 stars because it does not hit advertised boost clock speeds. AMD has since recognized the issue and will be releasing BIOS updates. If it is fixed will gladly give 5 stars. Note I am on am Asrock x470 board.
