Top pick for neckband style earbuds
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Included in the Box:
Neckband
(Anker SoundBuds Life are a neckband style wireless setup, so there is a neckband that rests with the buds attached, no other wires.)
Micro USB cable for charging
Sized earbud tips XS to L
Cloth storage pouch
Instruction manual
Warranty card
Features:
10mm magnetic drivers
IPX5 Water Resistance (Splashproof, not for water submersion)
Bluetooth Version 4.1
Microphone
Vibration Motor on neckband for connectivity notifications
Up to 20 hour playback with a single full charge
Build Quality:
Build quality is more than ideal which has become a staple of Anker products when compared to competing brands. The neckband itself has some flex to it around the sides but is more rigid along the curve that rests at the back of the neck which is good, something with too much flex would have a very flimsy cheap feel to it, overall the product is extremely lightweight at only 2oz which brings no discomfort to the neck over prolonged periods of wear. The buds themselves are comfortable and do not irritate the ear canals from overreach or size of the drivers, they are free of ear hooks but rest easily when in ear, the buds can be inverted so the small cords connected to the drivers could double as pseudo ear hooks if you find this more comfortable without compromising the soundstage. My preferred method of storage is to hang the buds from a nightstand or headphone puck/hook but the included storage pouch is nice for travel and I don’t feel like the product would be damaged even if it's tossed in a packed bag.
Audio Quality:
The sound is solid, full, and has power behind it when compared to similar products. I’d say the sound is more leaning to the warm side which is expected from most earbuds of this type and not a bad thing unless you’re looking for neutral (but then I don’t think you’d be looking at the right products, to begin with.)
Ideal Usage:
As with all neckband based earbuds, I wouldn’t recommend these for anything above light workouts, basic weight lifting, maybe vertical yoga, but the style just isn’t the best for running or anything with a ton of movement because the band will bounce which can be heard in the buds as they’re connected. Daily on the go commuting or easy listen would be the preferred usage for the Soundbuds Life.
Calling/Voice quality:
Voice/Video chat is another section where these really shine, clear and crisp for both the wearer and the person on the other end. Tested the Soundbuds over Wifi Calling, VoLTE, and 3g fallback, performance was outstanding all around with the exception of the limitations of each technology (3g isn’t ideal over its successors due to its age.)
Battery Life Test:
There is a claimed 20 hour playback from a single charge with these earbuds and after multiple tests over a week I could average 20 hours without an issue making sure to charge the buds fully after testing them to death each time, A+ there.
Final Thoughts:
Neckband style earbuds are not my first choice when looking for great sound quality based on past experiences, but the Anker Soundbuds Life brings a refreshing image to the style delivering a product I would recommend to anyone in the market for a good commuter or overall lifestyle audio device. With great performance for both music and communication and a price point that doesn’t break the bank Anker brings another fine product to its family of devices.

Nice, needs a hard case

Nice headphones for the price. Its hard not to compare them to my Bose QuietControl 30, but there $300 and the Anker headphones are $50. They feel like if I travelled with them in my bag, they would break so bought a hard case. Anker needed to include a hard case with these headphones, they include a nice silky bag that provide zero protection. I like my Anker soundbuds slim headphones for daily use, but you give up 20hr battery life and noise cancellation. Bluetooth pairing was easy on iPad and iMac. Like other Anker earbuds when there not in your ears they magnet hold together. Wearing the earbuds for two hour movies were comfortable and decent bass for an action movie. You can change the ear tips to get what is most comfortable for your ears and they come off for cleaning. Micro USB charging was quick and easy. You forget your wearing the comfortable silicone neckband. I will probably not take them out of the house a lot but they are IPX5 rated for real life water proofing, you're not swimming in them, just rain proof. More likely for everyday will take Anker SoundBuds Slim+ because role them up in pocket easy, sacrifice 1.5hr battery and no noise cancelation. I aways have an Anker power pack in my bag and rarely listen for more then an hour. But if your watching a 2hr movies, a commuter or on a long airplane flight the extra battery life appreciated. If they had made them sturdier they would be uncomfortable. The Bose are much nicer, but at 6x the cost. For the money its great buy, if you get a sturdy case for them.

Great sound but a bit uncomfortable...

Ok, so let me be completely honest, I LOVE THESE! They’re a little bit uncomfortable when you have the buds down and together, but not cumbersome or heavy. That being said, the battery life is more than adequate, 11-13hrs on continuous play, and the color and materials are superb! I have a large lineup of Anker products, be it Anker, Eufy or Roav, and all of them have always worked flawlessly! I’ve even had a faulty product and, without heaitation, they’ve sent me a replacement. This is a great selection if you’re in need of a pair, want good sound and battery performance, should opt for these! 10/10!

These headphones were a gift to my mother and she loves them. The battery life is more then most headphones can offer and will last you 24 hours as it states. They are very comfortable according to her and she states that she forgets that she is wearing them. The controls work great and the sound quality is good. I would give these a 5 star rating but less then a month they stopped working completely and I had to reach out to Anker to have a replacement sent. The process was easy and they sent the replacement in timely manner.
It could be that the one I purchased was a defect so I won't fault them completely as they are great but this shouldn't have happened. If the replacement has similar issues like the first ones, then I'll update this review but until then, my mother recommends these for anyone looking wireless headphones.

These are my own impressions on using Anker SoundBuds Life for a complete week. I love when new Anker products come to my door, it is always a grateful surprise bunch of cool features.
The box:
You know Anker put a lot of love when making their boxes, this box is the same, a lovely packed Anker product
Pros:
The plastic used to make it is very resitant, the interior of the headset is made of a durable rubber.
When you sweat it doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable
The battery last a lot, I have almost 3 days of non-continuos use and it is only 57%
The magnetic ears are very useful, specially when you are running or moving a lot without having the buds on your ear
Noise cancellation works very great
The bass quality is very decent
The power, volume up and down buttons are not pieces, it is a relief part of the body, so no sweat or any other liquids will flow inside the headset
The play/pause position is perfect
Cons:
I don’t like the charging port position
I personally think the vibration is very strong it would be great to calibrate it
Overall impressions:
I think this product is great, also pay attention to the price, is very affordable. If you are looking for a good headset that works great with your computer or mobile this is the one. Also the materials used to build this are very durable, I always pay attention to the materials used on the gadgets.

I've tried a few bluetooth headphones/earbuds and have always been pretty skeptical. This is my 2nd pair of Anker bluetooth headphones and as usual, I'm very pleased with Anker's quality. This pair of headphones has more functions than most of my previous bluetooth headphones which I like. The vibration notifications are really cool as well, and the headphones being magnetic to tie back behind your neck is also a nice feature. The range is a solid 50 feet through walls and call quality is really good. I use these primarily for work calls as I work from home. Definitely pleased with this set of headphones.

Of the many earbuds that I own, these Ankers feel the best - I can't even feel them when they are in my ears. The sound quality is crisp, balanced and the bass is just right. I enjoy wearing these around the house but there is a noticeable difference in range between Bluetooth 4 and Bluetooth 5. After awhile my neck gets sweaty but the buds are water resistant. I find the controls are OK and easy to use. Glad I bought these even though I had a great pair of buds that I was using already. $40 - definately worth it.

I have tried many wireless headphones and these sound good and have great battery life. The only thing I did not like about them is the wires seem a bit too long for me. Other than that, it is hard to beat the sound and battery life combination that these offer as of now.

I use this head set primarily for listening to audio books while I am busy doing other tasks. I also use it at night with my new Samsung Q6 TV, so I don't disturb my early to bed wife. I have listened to some music, and find them to be adequate, but not audiophile quality.
What I liked: Easy pairing with iPhone and Samsung TV.
Comfortable in the ear fit with three different earbud tips.
Light weight, comfortable neckband feel.
Long lasting battery, as much as 18 hrs listening time on a charge.
Easy controls for volume, pause, initiating, and answering phone calls.
Phone calls are clear on both ends.
Reasonable noise cancellation for a passive device.
What I didn't like: Could use more bass.
Annoying tone when volume reaches maximum level.

I work in customer service, so the phone is second nature to me. I use these bad boys to keep me connected to my customers when I'm on my cell phone. The only time folks can't properly hear me is when the mic gets covered up by my jacket - yo it's cold at work. As for sound quality when listening to music, it's pretty bumpin'. I'm an audiophile and I totally have too many headphones, but these are my go-to. In terms of portability, comfort, and sound I love these headphones. The headphones vibrate on calls, which is a plus. I didn't realize some neckband headphones didn't offer that option. Anker has a history of cranking out great quality products though. I'm thinking of getting a second pair of these so I can always have an extra on hand. Totally worth the money.

I like most everything that @AnkerOfficial produces. I've been using a few days now. Notice Size diff from others. Better than LG brand. I just wish the cord design was a little tighter but magnetic is nice. And hopefully they can last in a backpack, LGs dont without case.

I bought these for a trip I was taking via airplane and wanted something that needed minimal charging time, and last throughout the day.
At first I thought they would be uncomfortable but I took a chance and glad I did.
1. The charge was quick and lasted all day and into the night. I was surprised since my last pair of of blu-tooth headsets lasted maybe 4 hours.
2. Comfort: I really did not notice them, I even fell asleep with them on the airplane.
3. Sound quality: I am not an audio guru, I can hear the music without distortion, so that is good enough for me.
Overall I really like this product.

Pretty good sound. Pairing was very easy. Felt comfortable on my neck. No repeat last call function or dedicated audio controls. Did not say “call answered/ended”. These are things that are important for me as a driver. But overall, it is a pretty decent unit.
