A Hobbyist's Take

The AnkerMake M5 is a fantastic 3D printer for hobbyists like me who love crafting models, props, and miniatures. Right out of the box, it’s super easy to set up, with clear instructions that make getting started a breeze. The sturdy build keeps prints steady, and features like automatic bed leveling and filament runout detection take a lot of the hassle out of the process. It’s great for beginners but has enough features to keep experienced makers happy.
When it comes to print quality, the M5 delivers sharp details, especially for things like small figurines or terrain. The speedy print times are a real bonus—projects that would take hours on other printers fly by on this one without much sacrifice in quality. That said, the cooling system could use a boost for tricky prints with lots of overhangs, and you might need some extra slicer tweaks or supports to nail those details. The wide material compatibility is awesome, though; you can experiment with PLA, TPU, and even ABS if you’ve got good ventilation.
Overall, the AnkerMake M5 is a great printer for hobbyists who want something reliable, fast, and easy to use. It’s beginner-friendly but still packs enough power for more advanced projects. While it doesn’t have the biggest user community yet, its solid performance and thoughtful features make it a standout option for bringing creative ideas to life.

I don't see myself ever switching printers!

Full disclosure, I've only had two filament printers before this (MakerBot and some other low end model I don't recall the name of, I gave it away). Both of those printers were such a constant pain that I was completely turned off of filament printers, and figured I'd just stick to resin. That was until I saw this bad boy go on sale anyway. Decided to take the risk (or lack thereof, considering Best Buy's decent return policy and warranties) and it arrived a few days later.
The box it came in is MASSIVE to fit all for the parts and foam enclosures to keep it all secure. The whole process of assembling was painless and actually uses the foam inserts as guides for putting the thing together easily. All and all, it took me about 15 minutes to asable, then another 25 minutes for it to automatically level itself.
I went ahead with the in-built test print, and I honestly was not thrilled by it. It took way longer than the advertisement seems to imply it would take, and the quality was not great. A lot of bending and print lines. That said, I then swapped out the included filament for another roll of AnkerMake (red, in this case) and man, all my disappointment instantly disappeared. I only ever had ONE print out of around 30 have any issues, and the AI camera caught it and paused the print. I've been printing literally nonstop since I got it.
Now, I have had a major issue where I now have to bring the printer in to the store to get a replacement extruder. AnkerMake black PLA+ has been slightly problematic, but nothing too serious... Until last night when it somehow started spraying filament out into the extruder itself, and completely solidified within the extruder, and a large bob outside of it. After removing all of the dried filament, shockingly, only the two small cables coming out of the heater were broken. Everything else about the extruder was A-Ok.
Anyway, I'm hoping I can get this squared away through Best buy, and get back to printing.

Okay, first off this is a good printer despite my rating. I feel this would be perfect for certain people looking to get into 3d printing.
In my opinion it’s a good starter for young people or kids even. You still get to explore messing around with settings & how to maintain a 3d printer. Just without the hassle of physically modding the entire thing.
As for myself it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I wanted all the auto calibration settings not just auto bed leveling like the M5 has. I wanted calibrations like bed, resonance, flow rate, z height etc... (whatever else can be added honestly).
I’m an Anker fan for sure I use many of their other products like the portable power banks. So the M5 didn’t surprise me with the solid build quality. I just wish they added a few more auto calibration features.
Every part of this machine was easy to put together & use. I had zero issues with the machine itself. The app worked fine, you’ll need a usb-c adapter to use a micro sd card if that’s your preferred method or just send over wirelessly with a computer or mobile device. It’s a good looking solid machine for sure.
I was just disappointed in the end because I was expecting more from the printer. One thing I’d recommend for Anker is look at their competitors machines in the sub $500 range & improve from there. Maybe even use what reviewers say they want in this machine & improve.
Overall good product, just wasn’t for me.

Im new to 3D printing so its a goos starter printer. It allows you to explore settings and maintenance without needing to physically modify the machine. However, it wasn't what I was looking for as I wanted more auto calibration features beyond just auto bed leveling, like bed, resonance, flow rate, and Z height calibrations. I appreciate the M5's solid build quality but wish it had more auto calibration options. The machine was easy to assemble and use, with no issues, and the app worked fine. You'll need a USB-C adapter for a micro SD card if that's your preferred method, or you can transfer files wirelessly. It's a solid, good-looking machine, but I was disappointed because I expected more.

So far the printer is excellent for its price. There are better printers just not for the sale price 475.00 I paid. Have had very little issues with prints and it is way faster than the last printer I had. For my at home use its super simple and easy to use.
The slicer software has been steadily improving with 3 updates since I bought it. You can also use other slicer software with it.
My only real gripe is the fans always run when it is plugged in even when not in use and are pretty loud. Hopefully they can change that with a firmware update or something. Just annoying to have to unplug it when I'm not using it.

Great entry level printer it is very plug and play my only complaint would be that it is very loud compared to other brands. I have been using pla+ and the prints look great. The app is functional but you will need a desktop to take full advantages of the software. Unfortunately my tablet will not run the full slicing program which is a major bummer.

After watching a bunch of reviews on this machine I decided that it was what I wanted to upgrade to (I upgraded from an ender V2, which was heavily modified).
The AnkerMake is simple to set up and get printing. The machine quality is amazing and the prints have been amazing so far. The app is great to monitor prints and interface with. I suspect that the company will continue to make improvements to its software.
I am excited for AnkerMakes V6 color engine due out later in 2023.

Overall this is a solid printer. Anker has done a good job with the hardware and slicer software. It’s easy to use and user friendly. It is a pain to get unclogged as it requires disassembly to access the nozzle. The build plate is hard to clean thin layers of filament off. If you can get this when it goes on sale it’s great value. There are other printers that outshine at this price point.

I had been in the market for a 3d printer for nearly 2 years before I finally decided to pull the trigger. This is an amazing machine and it was listed for a price I couldn’t refuse. There is so much that can be done and you can find support anywhere you look. It’s about as user friendly as possible with only a small learning curve. This is a rare time when you get what you pay for doesn’t ring true. I have used more expensive machines and they can’t compete.

Good but... Consider Other Options

First and foremost, I picked this up for around $350 thanks to a big sale and some stacked BBY points. So, I'm reviewing it as a $350 printer.
As a beginner, I’ve found it to be great. It’s basically plug-and-play, aside from tightening a couple of bolts. Everything else just slots into place. Setup and unboxing is a 10/10, almost Apple-Like. My prints have turned out well, and I’ve learned a ton along the way. I've made things like a mini generator, random holders, vacuum parts, and so on. As long as you stay within its limits, the results are solid.
Now, why do I suggest you maybe consider other options? Two reasons: a strange rebrand and a stagnant app.
Let’s start with the app. At first, I was impressed by the catalog of other's creations—but it quickly became clear that the content never updates. Even sorting by “new” shows the same stuff. Is it abandoned? Is the app just broken? Who knows...
Then came the rebrand. One day, the app updated and suddenly it wasn’t “AnkerMake” anymore—it was “EufyMake,” a rebrand under an Anker subsidiary. Why? After digging around, I found mentions of scrapped features like color printing (automatic filament switching) and noticed that even some basic replacement parts are inconsistently available on their site.
Does this mean the M5 could be killed off and Anker drops out of 3D printing? Hard to say... but it’s worth keeping in mind. Especially after they quietly stopped supporting the M5C.
I can't really recommend this if Anker isn't serious about supporting their product down the road.

Stopped feeding filament after a week of use. It seems to be very well designed and was easy to put together. I was printing in about 15 minutes and I did several prints over the next week. My biggest complaint is not the printer as much as the very poor service I received. When I tried to call in for support I was told to check the toner. I went to the Best Buy store and was advised to just return it. I did the return paperwork and took it in with the hope of exchanging it for a new one to try. The gentelman who helped me seemed very stressed and did not want to accept the return. I showed him my paperwork again and he called on his radio for someone to come up because he had never seen a 3D printer before. I was very embarrassed as were the other customers. I finally gave up on exchanging it and just took the return. I am a Best Buy total member plus.

The M5 was easy to setup, and getting printing was easy. As my first 3D Printer, I couldn't be happier with it. I've printed toys as well as some useful things for around the house (a razor hanger for the shower, a light switch wall plate, as a couple of examples) and all the prints have come out with good quality.

Amazing printer. Prints files at super high quality. The app is stupid easy to use! You select a file you want, change the size, speed, etc. And press print! If you want to print a model with no supports the app can automatically generate supports for your model. Got mine on sale for $350. For that price, its the best there is. Regular price of $700... maybe not. But i love this thing

This printer does a great job with PLA+. TPU doesn't work for me, I'm assuming the all metal printhead will fix it as it's a feeding issue. Overall it's excellent value for the money. The auto leveling feature works perfectly. The computer application has its issues, sometimes the video won't show or I can't send the file from my computer and have to use a flash drive. I understand these are likely limitations of the software still being unfinished. I still recommend this printer to anybody who has more than a basic understanding of computers, you don't really need to know anything about 3D printers. All the info you need can be found between YouTube and various forums.

Fun to Use but Operating Instructions Lacking

In short, I really like this printer even though I didn't know how I'd use it when I bought it but it was a great price, so I couldn't resist. Now, I'm using it far more than I ever thought I would and in ways that I never thought about before.
The assembly instructions are top-notch. They are very thorough and give clear instructions on how to assemble the printer out of the box. I don't know that I've seen assembly instructions quite as good as the ones for this printer.
The instructions go off the rails when you get to the last steps of loading the filament into the printer. Instructions are clear on how to get the filament into the printer, but they reach a point where the instructions say to go to the control panel on the printer and press the "load" button. Well, there is no "load" button...only "retract" or "extrude". Internet research told me that I should use the "extrude" option, which did work.
Once you get the filament loaded, you are kinda on your own. There are no operating instructions included in the box whatsoever. Instructions tell you to download the software while loading the filament, but that's the end of the road. Can't figure out how to use the software? Internet search. Where do you go to find models that others have shared and you can print? Internet search. What's the difference between the filament types (PLA vs. PETG, etc.)? Internet search.
When on sale, this unit is priced in a way that would attract newbies to 3D printing (like me), so I assumed there would be some sort of operating instructions to get you going, but there just aren't any. Yes, the AnkerMake website has lots of useful information, but put SOMETHING in the box to help out the newbies. Searching the internet for all these things and teaching yourself as you go is a bit of a drag.

While it may be very slow in its operation, this particular 3D printer stands out for its user-friendly interface and ease of use, especially when compared to other models currently available on the market. Its intuitive design allows even those who are new to 3D printing to navigate through the setup and operational processes with relative ease. However, despite these positive attributes, one cannot overlook the fact that the asking price for this printer is rather steep. When considering the array of alternatives that fall within the same price range and offer a wider variety of features and capabilities, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify investing in this model. The competition presents more advanced functionalities and faster printing times, ultimately making them more appealing choices for consumers who are looking for efficiency and value for their money. Thus, while the user-friendliness of this 3D printer is commendable, the overall cost does not align with the performance and offerings seen in other products on the market today.
