Bought for 3 Power Recliners during Power Outages

I bought (Aug 2024) this 600/300w APC UPS for 3 recliners plugged into a heavy duty surge protector strip in case of power outages. I tested all 3 recliners after a 24 hour charge in the up positions and they all powered into the down position with ease. It beats buying individual backup batteries for each recliner. We live in Elgin, OK and during the winter and spring time we get power outages often. Definitely would recommend this product. It's easy to use, you have to remove the bottom cover, pullout the battery and connect the positive cable before charging it. There is a YouTube video on this model for that process. It also comes with an attached testing receipt on the case.

    Operates in complete silence

It works well, as advertised. It works in complete silence. I was worried upon reading other reviews here and elsewhere of coil whine and noise during operation but during use it's completely silent. It also does work when the power shuts off. I have it hooked up with a cable modem, wireless router, 32-inch monitor and Mac Mini and after turning the circuit off everything works (Internet, Mac Mini, Monitor). Another nice touch is the spacing between outlets. If the spacing was tighter my outlets would not fit (namely my wireless router which has a larger AC adapter and monitor, which whose wire comes out at an angle from the outlet).

The APC Battery Backups 600Va system is a MUST buy for everyone!! This is an all in one Battery backup/Surge protector good for about 3 plus hours on idle machines. I have my Modem, Router and Ooma (phone system) and My PC/Monitor plugged in. Speaking of my phone systems, For those that have internet home phone setups. You need a battery backup or the next time the power goes out you will not have a phone. Make sure your setup has one (many do) mine didn’t. Right out of the box I plugged it in and let it full charge (24 hrs.) then I used the supplied Usb cable to plug it in to my PC. I downloaded Powerchute personal and used it to run a self-test, set up an alarm silence window, alarms, and a shutdown routine for my PC. If you enjoy a safe running PC it is best to put a UPS behind it to minimize and chance for a power hit or fade (Brown out) or loss of power that can wreak havoc to Electronics. Think about it you spend big bucks for a PC and Monitor etc. so you need protection for these units. If you are just plugging it into the wall or a cheap power strip you are playing with a loaded gun. Not with APC, this unit has 7 (NEMA 5-15) outlets, and a usb charging slot. I used the mounting holes in the back of the unit and the supplied template to mount the APC to my floor joist in my basement. The plugs where pointed up to the upstairs floor so I purchased an L bracket to change the unit from being vertical to horizontal. This made it much easier to access my plugs. I absolutely love the feeling of an insurance policy against the unforeseen. The only issue I have with this unit is that the plugins are close to each other (however the middle one is spread out a little) so for my set up I had one standard plug and 3 block/brick type plugs. (see pic) This blocked 2 plugs and rendered them useless. For me this was not a deal breaker as I had to Run a heavy duty extension cable from the UPS to my PC area anyway. I would not hesitate to recommend this to friends and Family!!

    Simple and compact

Have several UPS at home. This new model is the simplest UPS. The previous models from the same category are horizontal, like an oversized power strip. This model is taller but more compact. There's only one button, which turns green when powered and blinks when on battery mode. There are no beeps, and it's quiet. Keep in mine that this UPS does not produce a sine wave like an AC power outlet. This is not an issue with most PCs and consumer electronics. Because it's simple it's very lightweight without the battery. Also it has convenient wall-mounting holes (Like a power strip) so it could be mounted next to an electric panel. I was planning on using it with the internet router but end up installing it with a desktop PC instead. It also has a very convenient USB port, which can keep a phone or other USB device charged during power outages, but keep in mind that it provides 1.5 Amp, so it won't be a fast charge. It would've been preferable to have more and faster USB ports. On one side, there's also a red light that's on when there is no ground (Wiring fault) and an USB port, which provides the UPS status to a computer. Connected the USB to a Mac and it automatically recognized the UPS, indicating if it was running on battery power and percentage remaining. APC provides a software 'PowerChute' for Windows to provide similar information. The battery is simple to replace, with a plastic cover on the bottom of the UPS, no tools needed.

    Help keep your PC safe

Every since I built my first PC, I've owned an APC UPS. If you're going to spend several hundreds of dollars on just a couple components in your system, why wouldn't you want to protect them? Every APC UPS I've owned has done an outstanding job of protecting my expensive electronics from any possible damage from a surge during a thunderstorm. The battery back-up has been especially crucial when I'm trying to get some work done on my PC just as the power goes out. I'm able to quickly save all my work before shutting everything down. No more lost work! The new 600VA model has another feature that I've found quite useful since moving into an old house: the UPS will indicate if there are possible issues with the wiring for the outlet it is plugged into (see screenshot). With my new APC UPS, I was able to identify all the outlets in my house that need to be checked by an electrician (and to not use them until then). This model doesn't have a very large battery, but it's big enough to let you save all your work and safely shut down all devices currently powered on and connected to it. If you spent more than $300 on your computer, I HIGHLY recommend you help protect it (and help prevent any lost work from a power outage) by looking into this UPS.

Superior product. Easy to set up. This is my second one for ourselves since both I and my wife are working from home in this new normal and sometimes do not shut our computers down overnight. It saved us from losing our work due to minor momentary spikes and drops in AC power. Reliable. Does what it is supposed to do.

Recently my current UPS made the alarm sound so I turned it off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. It sounded again so I thought the battery was dead after about 8 years now. I bought this as a replacement. Before this arrived I tried my current one again and it's been working fine for 3 weeks now. Oh well, I now have a spare UPS. I'm sure it'll work well when I do actually need it.

    APC - UPS 600VA

This is the second APC protector I have purchased. My first is larger in capacity and has been running for about two years with no problems. The unit I just purchased is for a PC running 24x7 and used as a server. It also backs up Ethernet coaxial device. PC and device (w/o monitor turned on) only pull about 14w (SSD PC) and have backup time of about 2 hours per software monitoring software included. I like that this unit has replaceable battery which is easily installed during setup. I have not had to replace battery in the unit purchased before. It also runs 24x7 and backs up router, cameras, and coaxial backbone network.

Great UPS for desktop/home office use

This is a great UPS for home office/desktop users - compact size, with a decent number of GROUNDED outlets (7 total; 5 backup/surge protected, 2 just surge protected). I like the black color - much less noticeable than white under my desk. Also the 1.5A USB outlet is a nice touch, but 2.4A would be better and more than one too. Overall, this is a nice UPS for home office use - it's much smaller than the typical Back-UPS units which is nice. My only real complaint (and the reason for the less than perfect score) is the skimpy, 1.5A single port USB charging, and the power light/LED is overly bright and may be distracting/disruptive in a dark room.

    UPS that Works

APC makes nice UPS. This one is nice because of the compact form that it takes and fits nicely on the floor. Since I am using this for my networking equipment I haven't tried connecting it to a PC for auto shutoff and configuration. Though I may do that in the future to mute the beeping sounds that occur when power goes out. A nice feature on this is you can mute the beep during a power outage by holding the power button down for 2 seconds. That is handy and one of the reasons why I haven't dragged a laptop over to configure the UPS. The only downside with the compact form factor is large plugs that face right. As you can see in the picture they tried to space out the battery plugs to allow you to get the larger bricks that most home networking equipment like, but its hard to deal with plugs that just point to the right. As you can see one of my devices is blocking the now battery plugs. Keep plug size and direction in mind when planning on this UPS to make sure you have space for all the devices. Otherwise I have no faults with this device. It works, has the ability to mute the beep when power is out and will easily provide my home network equirement with power during outages. If you need a UPS this is perfect one, as long as you keep the in mind what you are plugging in.

    So Far So Good

All I can say is this battery backup is working so far. I bought it to help protect my WI-FI and cable modem from nuisance power outages (lights flickering, etc.) that frequent my neighborhood from time to time, resulting in intermittent loss of both WI-FI and TV streaming from the internet. Occasionally I still need to reboot the cable modem because my cable provider is incompetent, but the number of Wi-Fi interruptions has been reduced markedly by this battery backup.

Used on Gaming PC for college work

We sometimes get those random 5 seconds-long power outages. For someone working on a desktop PC, that's enough to lose your work progress. I built a gaming PC, which draws more power than the average desktop PC. It's hooked up to the APC backup UPS along with a 27in monitor. As soon as the power goes out, this thing kicks in w/out power interruption to your equipment (hence, the name UPS for Uninterrupted Power Supply). What's really neat about this UPS unit is the option to connect it via USB to monitor battery runtime, and power interruption status. The Power button on the unit will flash when the power is out. You can also set it to either beep every 30 seconds, or mute it. It'll begin to flash rapidly when battery runtime is low, giving you time to save your work and shut down your equipment. If I'm doing regular tasks such as browsing and MS word, I can get about 20min out of this unit. That's more than enough time to save my work, and sometimes I even wait for the power return before shutting my PC off. Just keep an eye on the estimated battery runtime. If it gets low and the power is still out, save your work and shut down your equipment, including the UPS unit (or you'll drain the battery which affects its lifespan since it'll continue providing power to devices that are off).

Essential for power outages and provides surge protection at the same time. Even if the power goes out, you'll have wifi for computers, phones, etc. This is my second unit. Great price and the first one lasted 9+ years til the battery needed to be replaced. Replaced and upgraded the unit rather than replace the battery on the older unit. On the first unit, lightning knocked out the unit and a router/modem that was plugged into it. APC was great about replacing the unit and sent a check for the router/modem. No hesitation in purchasing from them again!

A good upgrade from my old power bank! I enjoy the 3-prong outlet accesses, Older versions only had 2-prong so I couldn't plug in computer devices. Haven't had many times to test how long it keeps computer running when power goes out but one time it kept it going for about two hours while the lights were out. Very happy with my purchase!
